Well will the party still have to enter one at a time if the we belly up or jump across?

The way I read it the party still has to leave the shuttle one at a time through the air lock with either option of belly or jump.

Can we land on the ship, secure a connection so the shuttle doesn't drift away, then depressurize the shuttle and we leave by the main entry door? Then we skuttle over to the port and then open it.  

Pops and Wolf should little trouble opening the port.

I want you all to know that Tann's mother had a stroke and is now back home doing well. Tann is a bit busy with her care and making inhome arrangements for her. So I will try to keep things running here for the pool. I will check your choices and post results of wins in a post box here so later Tann can copy / paste to the listings at the front of thread.

I should have them up Wednesday night.

BTW we will be counting the three Thursday games on the U.S. Thanksgiving Day.

Alacrity, I'd asked in a pm about Pops converting his bandoleers into tool belts. But would it be common that there would already be tool belts to use with EV suits for exterior repairs in space?

I feel Pops and Wolf need to take tools over to get in and handle repairs they may find. I'm just looking to how I should write that up.

BTW Tann, I know you said no Thursday game but what about Thanksgiving?

Pops had stood off to the side so the younger folks could toss in their two cents about seeing if that was the real Demeter or just another derelict piece of space junk. Given his druthers he'd as soon plot the location and come back after they'd finished the run. But Ivy was having one of her "feelings."

Jonah has seen how Ivy seemed at time to just be "tuned in" to things most folks missed. Folks used to call it a sixth sense, well what ever it is Ivy has it and Jonah learned to respect it. So it seemed that Wyatt had made the call to go "help her", who ever or what ever her was.

Wyatt drops his hand and hooks it in his gunbelt. "We're goin' over, Wolf. Rest easy. Alex, take us right on up like you was plannin'. "If that's THE Demeter, then there's a lot o' unknowns, an' I don' like unknowns. So, we all 'll be goin' over en force... 'cept Ivy. Alex, once we're in place, join us in the shuttle an' lock the controls. Make sure Ivy's got the keycode but we sure as hell ain't leaving Destiny open fer a kidnappin'.  "Pops an' Wolf, make sure the EV suits are all in the shuttle just in case we can't lock horns."

Their doc seemed to be lost in thought as the big mechanic turned and bumped into her. "Steady Bullet," she said grabbing his arm, "Wouldn't want you on one of my beds.. or... maybe.."

Jonah grimaced and turned to Wolf, "Well you look mighty fine in that slicker and the iron your packing but you heard the man...Bullet...we got things to do if'n you can keep your mind on business." Pops glanced at the young Doc as she looked out at the Demeter and smiled. "Them EV suits ain't gonna load themselves."

So what about Monday night football? Same as Thursday and no count?

If it makes sense then I don't have problem with Pops staying to watch Destiny. He can practice his cooking and have some nice chilli and noddles ready for your return.(Skyline Chilli)

Remember that a ship is refered to as She, so Ivy's mutterings don't have to mean a person. A captain loves his ship. Remember how the crew felt when Roc took so much damage in the rescue of the fiddle.

Well we still won't want to leave Destiny unmanned. Too easy for her to be boarded if this is a trap of some sort.

Well we can make the leap of faith and leave Ivy in command. I was just thinking our readers might enjoy the background.

In Roc we had Ma as the NPC and it was assumed she had the skills to not only pilot the shuttle but also Roc in a pinch. She was known as a scrappy fighter with her pink shotgun so she could defend the Roc when the crew was out.

Now we have a 16 year old as the NPC and it hasn't been established she could handle Destiny in a pinch or defend her from intruders. 

This is why I was alluding to keeping several folks on board. Doc is a fighter that can actively defend Destiny and Alex could swing destiny in close to pickup the shuttle in an emergancy or perform anti boarding manuvers.

How about a little background to fill the gaps some. Her shyness would belay the idea that she can take down some street toughs with her flying hands and feet or shot the eye out of a vulture going after a puppuy from 50 yards with a hand gun.

Thank you so much. I'd say the shuttle's stats should be saved on the charater sheet with the ships. You have already done that, I haven't looked yet. Maybe Brom can color the picture and make the shuttle black to match Destiny.

Ok Brom, it will be Wyatt's call to attempt to board. 

Your final choice of boarding party but my thought is Wyatt, Wolf and either Pops or Fox.

Wyatt and Wolf are firer power.

Fox or Pops should be able to get around and locks, sensors or systems.

This could be a chance for Fox to shine, but Pops may be needed for the old systems.

I don't think the Doc is needed unless we can sense some life over there. Ivy may press to send medical help.

Alacrity, have you put together any info on the shuttle that is in Destiny?

Just basics like how many seats, range, stuff that might limit what it can do in case we decide to shuttle over.

I don't remember us ever using it in the other story. I don't remember if there was one on Destiny or if we have had to had to find one and modify it to work on Destiny.

There were standard stats on the firefly shuttles. Maybe we just found one of them.

Jonah had taken to preparing the meals. The lack of funds had made the choice of food stock pretty slim. It had been a few years since he’d had to scrape by. Now he’d had buy what he could get and that was mostly beans and food paste. Spices were scarce but he found a few, now he was just trying to be creative. Although they hadn’t got rich he and his crew of the Nora Lee had been able to be comfortable. The three of them would take their turn in the galley. Seems like often as not Nathan would jump in and take Jonah’s turn, said he wanted try out a new thing he’d found on the Cortex.  

Now Jonah was just mixing things up, it wasn’t that hard. The crew didn’t complain, much. But he could tell thing weren’t always a delight. Tonight’s spicy western oriental bean stew was meant to be a stick to your ribs meal. It turned out more of a lump in your belly. Well if anyone felt like they could do better he was more than happy to hand them the spoon. Jonah knew that no one wanted the kitchen responsibility so he’d just keep on putting the best he could on the table, besides they had themselves a real Doctor on board if they felt too queezie . Maybe he’d try to find some of them items Nathan said were on the Cortex.

Just as he was finishing wiping down the counter Wyatt's voice came over the boats com, "We got ourselves an unknown some three thousand klicks ahead and in path. I'd appreciate everyone gettin' situation for whatever Gorram shinanigans are 'bout t' go down."

"Shinanigans...shinanigan, we ain't got time for no shinanigan,"Jonah grumbled out. Hanging the towel to dry the older man made his way to the lift. Jonah had liked this convenience, he was getting a too stiff to be climbing stairs all the time. The doors opened and he strolled into the command area. As he entered he saw Wyatt standing near the pilot. The new pilot concentrated on the sensors, Jonah had noticed they seemed a bit different than standard and perhaps more sensitive, but they were still working out the details. “Bingo." confirmed Alex. " Got something cap’n. There is a power signal, but it is very faint. Not much there. And whatever it is – its metal and kinda big, at least compared to us. Maybe 2x the size of Destiny.” He sighed, he hated not knowing. “That’s it. I’m checking every sensor we have, but until we get closer, maybe even visual range, I don’t think I can say much more. Right now, we are on a course to intercept. Let me know if that should change.”

"I don't like it none," Wyatt mutters. "Xiâoxin. We've been running on too much good luck t' not have it blow back in our faces. Take us int' visual range but be ready on the throttle."

"Capt'n..we need to be real careful....we don't need any delays or distractions. If you don't find any signs of life , we ain't got time for another salvage." About then he saw Ivy looking worried. She seemed to be repeating something. “Something is out there.” Ivy's faint voice filters in. “Something that needs help.”

That stopped Jonah cold. "We still need to be very careful."

Jonas had cast his lot in with Wyatt and Wolf. With his ship Nora Lee gone all he had left to sell off was the remains of his business. Those remaining funds, after settling with Nathan and Elam's kin, was enough to buy a third ownership in the craft they had salvaged. The years he had spent in R&D came in handy as they needed to find replacement parts. The ship was unique and parts were not common to other crafts. But with Wolf’s ability to machine and rebuild what Jonas found they usually worked, if Wolf would listen. There were times when the two of them would go at hammer and tong. Wolf usually insisting he knew what to do and that the “Old man “should back off. Then Jonah telling Wolf that “he’d forgotten more than Wolf would ever know.”

In the beginning Wolf had said, “Pops, I’m doing it my way.” and when the part blew Jonah would smile and say, “Well at least you’re learning how to make replacements parts.” But in the end the two worked through it and they got the ship performing.

Wyatt had found an abandoned registration and he submitted it as the class “modified”, hoping no one would look too close. When it was accepted the three of them christened the ship “Destiny”. It had been one of the names listed on the paper they had found and it just felt right. The ship had a personality and every so often a wispy mist would appear, it seemed to have the form of woman. Both Wyatt and Wolf had eventually mentioned they’d seem the lady of the ship. Jonah guess they had their own feeling about her. To Jonah she would make him think back to Nora Lee and maybe she was here with him again. 

It was now time to find a crew and some work. Although Jonah had captained and piloted his own ship for ten years, it was mostly near the core planets and mostly just people that needed a pilot. Cargo transporting would take them away from easy access to medical facilities so adding a “Doc” made sense. Wyatt felt a third able bodied crewman was needed. And as he put it they should have “varied” skills and someone who help Jonah with the systems.

Wyatt had taken Jonah along when they met with potential crew, Jonah appreciated that Wyatt respected him and his opinion. As Wyatt's "First" he would have to be able to work with the crew and they with him, so it was good that all knew where they stood. The choice of pilot and medic sat well with Jonah, but the tech fella seemed a bit twitchy and put off that he had joined Wyatt for the talks. He seemed to be full of himself too. Jonah figured Wyatt felt too because he only committed to a trial period of the first run and the fella didn't want then to know his name; only wanted the others to call him as his handle “Fox”.

When they had finished Pops grinned at the fella, “Well..Fox..you can call me Jonah. I’ll be interested in seeing how you handle our systems.” Jonah saw Wyatt raise an eyebrow knowingly.

A bit later Wyatt had received a message and they traveled to Rhamba. The captain left on personal business. When he returned he brought a new a crew member, Ivy. Pops had looked at Wyatt with a raised eyebrow when he announced she was joining the crew. Jonah wasn’t used to having kids around so when they were introduced he may have come across a bit gruff. When they to got him he said,"Miss Sanders, I'm Mr. Hicks." Wolf blurted, "Mr. Hicks?... Pops what 'cha doing?" Jonah turned to the mechanic, "Son you earned the right and permission to use that." Jonah caught "Fox's" eye as he turned back to Ivy. "Miss Sanders there's a room up on the top deck next to mine you can use. That way you'll be close to Capt'n Wyatt if you need anything." Jonah could see a bit of puzzlement on Ivy's face; she may not have been use to being addressed formally and treated as an equal. This came from a stranger old enough to be her grandfather.

(Alacrity can add any dialog for Ivy if he wishes.)

They now needed a job. Jonah figured the years of easy transport were over but he still had some contacts. Between that and the job boards word got out they looking for a run. Not much came their way and Wyatt let it be known they weren’t too picky about where they would go or what they would haul. Jonah was a bit concerned but he could live with “questionable”. Jonah hoped that his reputation and the fact that Destiny was an unknown ship helped land their first job. It wasn’t much but it was a start. Finally a local Named Molly Malone took a chance on them. First impressions are everything, so they had to nail this delivery, no matter what.

Well we all know Pops is is a Curmudgeon but it will come out that he is a protector. 

So I guess to him she'll become Miss Ivy and when he's irritated Miss Sanders.

Got a bit of post going to bring things up do current. Much of it is Pops POV of what has happened so far.

It says that Ivy is sixteen and it seemed odd that girl that old would start call the men in the crew "Uncle". I could see Wyatt as uncle from being a framily friend but has Ivy built trust in the rest of the crew this soon to be that familure? 

Anyway Jonah is being a bit formal but addressing Ivy with respect and treating her as equal. Though not posted it is guessed that Wyatt has talked to her about pulling her weight.

Seeing that folks seem to take exception to Jonah's beans maybe she'd like to learn to cook.

So the overall record is....The Browns are 17-14 in their all-time series against the Cowboys.

I may not win this year but I'm going to do better than Tann.

If it isn't an issue I think Ivy and Pops should take the "guest" rooms 5 & 6. That would leave 10 and 11 for guests. This way Ivy and Wyatt are near each other and Pops has some privacy.
