Subject: Stay Safe.............

Stay safe and be careful. Water does odd things to homes. Be careful with power and check floor supports. With that much water you might get back flushing on sewage that can come up in the basement if you are coennected to a sewer line. Washers and dryers have motors near the floor, so do most furnaces, so be sure they are unplugged and cleaned before you turn then on.

Get pictures of the damage for insurance claims. Show all the stuff floating and get closeups of any big dollar items. You can never have too much proof. Home owners doesn't always cover flood, but have it all ready so you can file. Get it all down, cloths, books, anything that's water damaged. If you end up having to go through State or Fed disaster relief then you're way ahed on your claim. Someiwhere there may be foundation damage too. I know this sounds a bit materialistic but the government and insurance companies are not charities and you need to be prepared support your claims.

Our thoughts are with you and we are glad you are safe.

Yeah, we need to get in the habit of going over all dead enemies for what the have. Hmmmm. sounds like a hint to pile the weapons so I'll have Tohmas recomend it in my post today.

Something like, "We should gather those weapons and pile them away from the their old owners. There may be enchantment still in them. As it is there are too many to carry."

I didn't see anything in the PBH covering an option to raise points so I thought I would ask. We are early in the story and player levels so I thought it could be built into action if it took a given amount of training time.

In the 2nd Ed tabletop games I play we can side bar story and do training, but must account for the time and materials. The DM then does his roll thing to establish success and degree.

I'll try to geta post up soon about moving to find the Happy Waters. I'd figure Crow and Tohmas would lead the way. As they determine direction and concentrate on that the others could follow and do a little more site searching as we go.

BTW, are pirates weapons available to be gathered and the best kept by the party for use? Some of our lesser armed folk might be able to take on a cutlass and learn to handle it from our fighters.

So now we all know about the "Rain Dance". It's most likely the most powerful thing Tohmas can do. So PROTECT THE HEALERS!

With all of us in good shape it's time to check out the Happy Waters. There is something there so let's just be prepared.

BTW, how do we increase our ability numbers? I'd like to find a way to get a higher dex. I was wondering if Tohmas got Crow to help train him in dex skills as we travel what would it take to gain 1-2 dex points?

If we get into combat remember that Willow and Ash have been training in "marshall" arts with those videos. Sifu also helped so they both may have little increased abilities.

We need any advantage we can get.

Hunkered down behind the thruster house the kid did his best to maintain a low profile. His GRZ1 was propped to cover Wyatt as the Capt’n addressed the Marshall. When the two armor clad lackies drew down on Wyatt Asher sighted the throat of the Marshall. The switching to the slow breathing pattern that steadied the nerves and the gun was now automatic. The gun slinger slowly squeezed the trigger.

The marshall raised his hand and the guards pulled back their weapons. Ash exhaled releasing the pressure on the trigger, but he kept the man sighted. Movement near Wyatt showed that others were coming to his aide. Havelock and Miss Willow were now in view and it worried the kid that they might get caught in a cross fire if thing went bad. As long as the Feds stayed in view Ash would hold his position, but if they moved into the Roc he’d hot foot it back inside.

Tohmas smiled as he listened to the young Warrior. "Tohmaz Goodwood, Shaman of the Wimachtendienk, I Vincent Wysman, Knight to-be, pledge myself to aiding you, and this group in our mission, your mission, and any other that arises. I would also like to thank you for this dance that has healed our wounds, I feel much better now thanks to you and your goddess."

Tohmas recognized that man felt this was the proper way a Knight should respond to an act of kindness or service. As with all of them the life of learning was now replaced with the real life.

The Shaman raised hand and placed on Vincent’s chest. “Among my people we would call you Kittlelendamwagan, the Earnest One. But to me you are now Elongamat, friend. Vincent Wysman we will become Witawematpanni, the one who aides. Now let us go and find what Mother Earth has in store for us.

Subject: His People...........

The battle was done and they had survived their first challenge as a group. The looked around and saw that only a few had been injured, but then though there were many the foe fell easily.

The sound of the “Happy Waters” once again enticed them to push on, but the Shaman felt they should face this unknown with full strength. These may have only been the first of the guards and the next, if any may be stronger. Tohmas had learned his skills in the forests and plains so fighting on the loose rocks as of a mountain had proven more treacherous than the foe. Although embarrassed by his self inflicted wounds he knew his duty was to help the others.

“ Let us attend to the living.”

As Tohmaz approached the the members of the party he painfully dropped to one knee and addressed them.

“Friends, forgive me my rudeness and haste of my earlier actions.
I am Tohmaz Goodwood, Shaman of the “Wimachtendienk”.
I have called upon the Earth Mother “Atira” to aide me in your care.
Through her blessings your wounds may be completely healed, if you will join me a Ceremony of her Cleansing Tears.
Some think of this as a Rain Dance because it may bring Atira tears from the sky but that is only when she is called to heal the land or beasts.
To heal the children of earth we make the tears, combining her water and your blood.“

Tohmaz takes a bandage and touches it to each of the party’s wounds drawing away a small bloody piece. Going to his pack he brings to a small decorated bowl, he place the bandage in the bowl and fills the bowl with water.

“Arise Warriors and follow me in the trail of Atira’s tears that falls from this bowl. But once we start you must finish or the healing will not be complete.”

Turning to the others Tohmaz says,

“ Any may join in the dance and to give aide is a blessing. Prayers to you Gods may please them as we pay respect to all.”

With that Tohmaz started move as rhythmically as he could in wide circle around the rubble, sprinkling the blooded water as if they were the tears of Atira. As the dance started, Tohmaz saw members of the group step forward and to jion in and aide as they could.

In clear baritone voice he began to chant.

(Earth Mother , spread your tears on this one of your children.)
(Cleans your child. Heal your child.)

The ceremony continued for a quarter hour and the pain had made the dance starte difficultly for the Shaman, but as Altira's tears healed Tohmas’s leg he was able dance more freely.

When the Shaman was free of pain he saw the others too were moving smoothly and smiles upon their faces let him know Altira’s tears had healed them.

While the they were all still gathered Tohmas stretched out his arm and addressed them.

“ Thank you, for allowing me to aide you, I had come on the this gathering to learn how to help restore the lands that have been defiled by the dark creatures that drove out my ancestors.
I believed I would never have a clan to serve and would only try to do the will of my Goddess to heal her lands and creatures.

As you have come together to help each other I now believe I see the truth of my Training.

When a member of my people chooses the way of the Shaman they are taught to lead, but not to command.

We are not battle commanders, but loyal followers that hold up those around us.
We are taught to help calm the chaos so that the way can be followed.
We are taught to advice, to heal, to comfort, to provide and to defend our clan.
We are taught to do this with the joy in our heart that comes from unselfish service.

So if you shall have me, I pledge myself to this clan.

In the words of my people,

Wimachtendienk, Wingolauksik, Witahemui.

Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, Service.

The Shaman then prepared for the next challenge of find those Happy Waters.

Including Tohmas we have four that need healing so the ceremony would heal all and save the other healing spells.

It can also be a social bonding event for the group. Those not needing healing can join in to support the others.

I've used this before in one of Hammer's other games and my ceremony is not one of those jumping and spinning things around a fire like from old western movies. The dance is done in a circle but only Tohmas chants to his diety while the other sprinkle water to represent Altira's tears for her children. So noone else is worshiping Altira, just Tohmas, they are only showing respect which all deities would allow.

Oh, Hammer, you let the cat out of the bag. I'd eluded to "Dancing" in a earlier Q&A. I was just waiting for the battle to end and see how hurt everyone had got.

Well here is what Tohmas can do.

CEREMONY: Rain dancing heals totally all those who take part in the dance.

This is a BIG deal healing and a good social growth element.

I'll bring this up in character as we start posting again after the battle.

I've edited my post to keep Tohmas helping Will and Vince.

If his Quarterstaff becomes a +2 weapon that should do good damage with each strike. He might be able to take out a skeletons with each hit.

How does Barts sound spell work?
1-Level Bonus Spell Sound Burst is A pulse of sound that causes 1d8 damage.

What area effect would it have?

If it were cast on the skeletons would it blast some apart?

Totally mis- remembered what I thought I read. I took the spaces for the gaps created as the skeletons wandered away and only counted boxes and forgot to reread the info.

Now this would leave Will and Vince vulnerable from the skeletons to the northeast which were the ones Tohmas originally was going to go after.

Crud!!!

Now it would make more sense that he stay and help with the 10 and the defense arc forms southeast to northwest to fend off those. Then when the east 10 are done Tohmas, Will and Vince join in against the 15 and 20.

With Tann back and moving Crow toward the east does anyone object to me rewriting to keep Tohmas helping Will and Vince?

The arrows fight was not as smooth as Tohmas would have liked but it hit home. The skeleton rocked as the arrow pierced its skull, but it didn’t fall. The Shaman thought his arrow would do more.

Edited to stay helping Vince and Will:

Then five of the ten east skeletons start to wander away and Tohmas glanced back to the 15 skeletons closeing on his friend Crow and saw Crow come to their aid. The odds will grown better for Willem and Vincent , the two of them could handle the five of the skeletons. Knowing that his arrow had not the effect he had wish he put the bow away and drew his staff to fend off the skeleton to the northeast side. He wished the party had passed safe….. passed safe… safe passage….as a bards song rang out he saw Elyra, she still had her eye patch on… safe passage…….then he heard Mylos shout out to use the eye patch. Thinking it is a sign they think the same, Tohmas draws the patch over his eye. As he approaches the line of skeletons to the east he utter the words to ask Altira to bless his quarterstaff and add two his charisma skills to the staff.

Subject: Battle?

If Hammer hasn't written the battle round yet I thought our regroup might look like Tohmas moving to 5 feet north of Crow, Amur moves 15 feet east toward Will to get back from the skeletons, Mylo moves over 5 feet south of Crow and then in arc to the south east in 5 foot spacing could be Elyr, Arel and Janf. That would allow battling the 15 from the west and then prepare to take on the 20 from the south.

Will and Vinc take out the east skeletons and then move south to help Janf by positioning to east of him at 5 foot apart.

Hopefully that will allow each of us to take on targets close to us and help out those next to us.

Ya'll get ready for some rain dancing after this battle.
--------------
Oops left out Bart, he could slide in between Mylo and Crow to start the arc.

____________
Again my bad, Arel moves to safety and Amur can stay put. Got those two switched. Zero armor is not so good. If he was closer to Tohmas he could use his shield. The first light weight armor we find should go to the Illusionist.
