Subject: Sorry...............

I'd hoped our post on hiding the bomb was implied enough, but oops on me.

On the map I figured the bombs were hid in and near the hills to lower left. That was to draw them away from the caves and the atmo processor. Figure a mile or so apart. The gravel, grass and rocky terrain would leave clues for the Merc's to follow. I figure that's around 4 miles away from Roc. If you draw a line square to the 1 mile distance line (end nearest the cave) on your map over to the hills that would be the first, then using that 1 mile line as a scale figure a mileish along the hills to the second and same to the third. That would be headed toward the gap at the bottom to the page. Ash and Jessy would swing back to Roc in an arc counter clockwise across the foot of the montains in the lower right. Again to draw the Mercs in a longer route to head back.

I'd figure Wyatt wants to pick where to plant the big bomb or make a missile.

Does it need more info?

Subject: Welcome Little Bird...........

Welcome newcomer. I am Odyson Bruin, most just call me Ody. I have taken up a place here at the Inn as the Bartender in the Red Dragon Inn Chat Room. There friendships are made, stories shared, ideas exchangeed and my own special brew of "Good Old Froth-n-Slosh" flows freely. It is a good place to meet Innmates in real time.

As for learning the halls of the Inn be sure to check "Pit F(r)iend's epic guide to getting started for newbies". It is on the Home page right side. It is chuck full of info. Also review the "Terms", we are a family friendly site so please remember that there are Younglings about.

And lastly here is a nice warm fluffy towel. You may have a surprising use for it later.

So again Welcome, take a flagon from the mantel and draw yourself a tall one, if other drink be your pleaser I'll have Igor fetch it up.

Ody

Subject: Fire....Oh No..........

The post about Tohmas and fire isn't there to admonish the Illusionist but to inform him of Tohmas's beliefs. Tohmas won't attack his own party. He cannot use fire magic and he'll attempt to put out fires on land that would burn field and forrest. But in caves, on water and other secured areas he will be less involved. He will be drawn off task to attack an enemy that uses fire. Also the healing Rain Dance" might be affected if his Goddess is offended. So it is just a caution.

Gamard stood alert, thoroughly surveying their new surroundings, the Knight of Holy Anger broke his silence by vocalizing his yearning thoughts:

"All that is missing is a table loaded with good food and drink for a proper feast now!"

Dudley nodded to the Dwarve, “Well that sounds like a good idea. We should take a meal before we proceed. We are clean and dry, why not fed too?”

Crossing the room to the table Dudley pushed the broken cage aside and began setting out the food items he’d found on the beach. Of course he tried the wine to be sure it was good…and by golly…just their luck…..it was!

You Go Brundel!!
There seemed to be a mage that wondered out of the lands of Drannon. The odd serpentine tattoos that wound up his forearms fortold of older times. It was said he was descended from a family near Sien'Lia. Quiet and brooding he sought knowledge and lore of the Winding Way as he honed the magic skill taught to him at the base of the Standing Stones.

Oops, lunch is over better let Brundel make his own Mage.

Subject: On Board the Toothless Dragon, Return Trip:

Mother Earth had seen it proper to answer the prayer of her Shaman. She turned the wind from aiding the approaching ship and let it bless the the hard work of the Stout Heart. Filling the sail of the Toothless Dragon the now sped their journey. As Tohmas watched he saw that Altera had extended her grace, the enemy ship now foundered as the wind pushed it back and as arrows of flame were launched from the other ship they batted down harmlessly into the sea by her arms of air.
Captain Crayfish quickly seized the moment to steer the Dragon so as to deliver a glancing blow from her ramming brow into the stern of the other ship. The blow being at the water line the enemy was now taking on water. As the Toothless Dragon now attempted to make an escape the wizard Areldor managed to somehow trigger his newly acquired 'Fire Stick', with a Fire Ball flame that struck above the mid-section of the ship on the right side. The brilliant explosion set fire to the middle of the railing, while transforming the mast into a flaming torch.

Tohmas gasped to see the fire leap from the stick held in his companion’s hand. He had been trained to never use fire as a weapon, too much earth had been scorched by the runaway effects of wildfire that evil had used kill and destroy what it could not control. As they ship drew away from the battle Tohmas softly addressed the mage. “My friend….. the use of fire in battle is taboo to my training as a Shaman. Its effect can often do more damage then was intended. You must know that I am sworn to attack any enemy that should bring flame to battle….. The burning of a section of the land for any reason cannot be done even by a friend….. You must use great caution with that device for its misuse will turn Altar’s favor away from us.” Looking down slightly on the Elven Illusionist Tohmas smiled grimly, “I will pray to Atira for guidance”.

Subject: Down the Badger Hole...........

Persephone, Eavesdown Docks, Badger’s Office, 6:00 pm ST

The directions to the meeting had been pretty straight forward and simple. This guy Badger wasn’t too worried about his activities or else he believed in hiding in plain sight. The crew had armed themselves reasonably, at least Jon had.

When they had been allowed to enter while still keeping their arms Jon was thinking this would be an easy deal. But as they saw that the way in was a series of guards and flash doors this Badger’s hole was designed to get in easy, but getting out was a whole different story. Jon’s hopes of this being an easy fare were quickly dimming.

They wound their way down the tunnel going below ground level and finally coming to a beaded curtain doorway. Inside the room looked a bit rough and cluttered. Odd items and bric-a-brac adorned the room and a makeshift desk. Guards stood in each corner, two better dressed men were at the back of the room.

There behind the deck in a leather office chair sat a man in tweed suit and bowler hat. When the man stood Jon noted he wasn’t a tall man and he didn’t appear armed. Well that’s what the men in the corners where for. Sly eyes from under that bowler looked them over. He summing each of them up quickly, he only linger a bit on JC, as if trying to place him. Leaning against the desk he said, “Ello,….which one of you ‘s Jonathan Brown?”

Stepping a little crosser Jon extended his hand, “I’m Jon Brown.”

The man smiled but made no attempt to shake hands. He gestures to the table near you, “Since this is ar first face ta face, I thought we’d start out on the right foot..... Compliements of me – I’m Badger..... Now I hears that you ave a fast ship and that you are reliable.... That be two things I have a real use for right now.”

Jon could smell the food when they had entered, the table was set in the center of the room with sandwiches (smells like tunafish), cookies and a couple of pitchers of a orange colored liquid. He could really go for a free meal but he didn’t want to seem too eager. Jason always had been able to play in so cooly, never wanting to give up an edge. But before he could say anything Tess was diving in, checking out the drink, snatching a sandwich, pocketing cookies.

Smiling back at Badger Jon said, “Yes Sir, Destiny is one fastest boats about….. and we take our jobs seriously.... We aren’t the biggest but we can do special deliveries quicker’n anyone…....And for the that food there….well that’s mighty nice of you, my crew appreciates it. …..I hope you don’t mind I brought so many, Tess there is my pilot and I figured it’d easier if she could ask what she needed to know straight out......The others are fairly new to my crew and I thought the experience would be good for them..... Besides this ain’t the easiest area to walk through.” Jon nodded to JC and Angela that it was ok.

Jon watched as they too dug in to the sandwiches, he’d hoped there might be something left that he might grab before they go, that is if this goes well.

That sounds good about Angela, we need a little practice together as this develops. Van has a good grip on the character and we just need to keep writing to get it all to fit. I see Grace having a big sister attitude toward Angela. I am good with your ideas.

As for hiding food in her room, I'd say knowing Grace's tendency to packrat things, be secretive and paranoid it would be absolutely in character for her to make special modifications to her room to hide any sort of thing. I'd even go so far as to think she made secret passages through the ductwork and inner hull.

So go for it.

, well so much for the overly careful approach.

I'll have Jon over "thinking" about how to politely refuse the food, be all worried about looking too desperate and such and then he sees Tess grazing. He'll nod to JC and Angela to go ahead too. He's as hungry as the rest and so he too succumbs to temptation.

Maybe Vanadia can have Angela wait until the crews got some food and then picks the table clean as Jon tries to negotiate.

We have to work around the "magic" words so not to cause those issues. Jon saw how Angela can fight so he has to be careful. If things were to go badly or if Jon needs to show surprising strength Angela well lead them out. I don't think she is good at "not" killing when her attack is released. I don't see her just disarming the badies. If you feel differently I'm open to it. It might be one of those learning things.

I'll put up a interum post tomorrow as more of a POV of Jon and respond a bit to the offer of the food. We don't want to upset our "host".

Subject: Oh Lucky Day...............

It hadn’t been that long since Dudley had left monastery where he’d gone to learn the ways of believers of Shinara. Growing up on a farm he had survived a fall of the barn roof by the chance that a spooked horse wildly charged out pulling the hay wagon his father had been trying to unload. Tumbling into the hay Dudley landed lightly catching the reins and stopping the runaway. Then there was the time he was wearing his new red breeches and the bull happen to leap over the fence, it had never done that before. That had surprised everyone but more than that fox that was sneaking up on the hens. Poor fox, but it did make a nice wrap for ma. It was ma that had told him of the Goddess of Luck, Shinara, and how she must have been looking over him. He liked that thought and in time he decided honor her and left home to dedicate himself to her service. The Priest’s taught that life is full of chances and that if you believe in yourself, your companions and Shinara the luck will show itself. Now here he was on board the ship Minnow heading out to share that belief with others as they venture forth.

The voyage had started well but the weather turned foul. Winds, rains fell, wave swelled. The crew was working had hard to pull in the sail as bow lurched up flinging Dudley into air. Flailing through the air he watched as bolt of lightening struck the deck where he has stood and spread out killing the crew as is flashed brilliant and deadly. The force of the crash had weaken the ship’s timbers and soon the mighty Minnow as breaking into pieces.

The few passengers were cast into the dark cold waters to fend for their lives. All Dudley had was clothes on his back, but Shinara had not abandoned him, a section of the deck and rail floated up and he able to pull himself on enough to keep his head above the billowing waves. Dudley clung to the flotsam and thanked Shinara for sending it his way.

Time pasted slowly as he bobbed in the churning waters. Exhaustion was over taking him and his grip on the wood was failing when his foot drug on the sand as the wave pushed him ashore. Crawling a few yards out of the surf he collapsed with fatigue. As sleep took him he thanked Shinara for letting him be lucky to be alive.

Dudley awoke to the wind gusting and blow sand in his face. The storm clouds seemed to gathered anew promising drench the beach that he had been cast upon. The refuse and remains of the ship had washed ashore and scattered along the beach. The Young cleric picked himself up, dusted off the dried sand and started searching the beach for items that might help him survive. His studded leather armor was still a bit squishy from the sea water and the smell of brine would take a while to dissipate.

Among the broken timbers and wooden sections he found a backpack of assorted foodstuff (a couple loaves of hard bread, a wheel of cheese, a full wineskin of wine, some spices, and a small smoked ham, all wrapped for preservation on ship). Shinara had smiled once again.

Searching further he hoped to find a weapon but only found a belaying pin, but that would work as a short club in case he needed to protect himself. He slid it into his belt. It wasn't long before he heard sounds not far away and to his delight there was a gathering of the passenger from the ship. Luck was smiling brightly, they had found food, drink, weapons and each other.

Such a group, two clerics, two mages, a fighter and a ranger. Shinara had led to just group he would have search out when the ship would have made land. The group acquainted themselves again and assessed their situation. Fingering the silver ring engraved with stars he lifted a little prayer of thanks for this good fortune.

It wasn't long before the ranger was scouting the way as they started to explore the island they had wash up on. But just as darkness falls, they discover at the center of the island a shallow depression with a stone door. The door is unlocked and when opened reveals a descending stone stairway. At its bottom is another door of an unfamiliar material.

Such good luck was bestowed on this fortunate group. Hearing the Robed Elf,“Well now, shall we see what lies beneath? Perhaps we can find out what happened to the other people that appear to have been shipwrecked here before us.” Referring to the obvious signs of other ship and boat wreckage that was scattered about the island.

Brightly smiling at the prospect of getting away from the approaching foul weather, Dudley agreed,“Yes, what are we waiting for, there is surely food and shelter in there, let’s go”

(OOC, a little edit to bring the gloomy storm back and a little more filler too.)
