I was able to find a download copy of the 2nd printing of the PH. Is there a lot of difference to the 4th printing?

Tohmaz will will stay in the Halfling Community, he's an outdoorsy kind of guy.

Are you granting the spells that we can use or are all of the listed spells per level available? I downloaded a copy of the CnC PH and was reviewing the spell lists.

I have a collection of AD&D 2.0 Cleric spells from my tabletop game, if I PM'd some to you could they be added?

BTW, you certainly have given us a BIZZILLION story options.
Phew, just finished reading the town posts last night.

Digesting the breakfast information and how to go from there.
Being we are to wander about the city for 8 days there is a lot that can go on. There are SO MANY clues it's hard to pick a direction.

Missing beauties, missing Golden Crusaders, an Ogre, goblins, boss goblin, a wood witch, treasure temptation and a cast of dubious dignitaries.

What ever happened to "Follow The Yellow Brick Road"?

Subject: The Chant......

The story the cleric told rang true to the feeling that Tohmaz sensed after the attack.
It speared the crusaders to complete the task of burying the fallen.

So with respect and hast the six of them gathered the items of value or possible harm.
The Half-Orc had found enough rope about the deck to bind the bodies and one by one he slipped the remains over the side.

As the last body was dropped into the river Tohmaz called out to Atira ,

” Madre Terra di ricevere i vostri figli. Benvenuto tua casa i bambini.”
(Mother Earth to receive your children. Welcome your children home.)

After the last of the fallen Crusaders had been interred, Tohmaz turned to the Cleric,

“ Let us attend to the living.”

Tohmaz return to the Amazon.
As Tohmaz approached the Warrior Monk he dropped to one knee and addreesed her.

“Sister, forgive me my rudeness and haste of my earlier actions.
I am Tohmaz Goodwood, Shaman of the “Wimachtendienk”.
I have called upon the Earth Mother “Atira” to aide me in your care.
Through her blessings your wounds may be completely healed, you will need to join me a Ceremony of her Cleansing Tears.
Some think of this as a Rain Dance because it may bring Atira tears from the sky but that is only when she is called to heal the land or beasts.
To heal the children of earth we make the tears, combining her water and your blood.“

(OOC: I assume that the Monk consents to the Ceremony, Bri I leave it as open as possible for you to add your post and comments.)

Tohmaz checks the bandage and cuts away a small bloody piece.
Going to his pack he brings to a small decorated bowl, place the bandage in the and fills the bowl with water.

“Arise Warrior and follow me in the trail of Atira’s tears that falls from this bowl. But once we start you must finish or the healing will not be complete.”

Turning to the others Tohmaz says,

“ Any may join in the dance and to give aide is a blessing.”

With that Tohmaz started move rhythmically in wide circle around the deck, sprinkling the blooded water as if they were the tears of Atira.

In clear baritone voice he began to chant.

(Earth Mother , spread your tears on this one of your children.)
(Cleans your child. Heal your child.)

The ceremony continued for two hour and the strain made the dance difficult for the Monk.
The arrow to her shoulder had done much damage both going and coming out.
Such a shot would not had seemed to be bad for she was strong and fit, but evil or bad luck had caused it to cut flesh, veins and bone.

So as the dance continued, Tohmaz saw members of the survivors step forward and aide as they could, and he watched the monk grow stronger as they neared the end of the dance.

Had he found his clan?

Keeper? Would it worth our while that once we are off the boat to have the Cleric do a "Detect Magic" on item from the fallen before we turn them over to the City? Could be a handy ring, amulet, sword or gauntlet among the items.

Just saying!

Well I'm still catching up on Ash, but I don't think it matters to him about a spacestation as a base, he'd rather have a planet as a base. He likes dirt under his feet.

As for Reavers, well they might be real, but then that's what they said about the boogieman.

Subject: Names...............

In my post I have not addressed the characters by name so I hope that doesn't seem odd. Tohmaz had kept to himself because of not liking to be on the water, so he didn't learn the names. A Shaman should have a good eye for people because they travel much and could figure out race and have a good guess at their class. Tohmaz suspects that the female with he asked to assit the Amazon is a Rogue, he saw her lift the purses of the two fallen males. Perhap helping her avoid tempation would keep her in a better light for while with the other Crusades. I think I should edit my post a little to show that.

Leaving the Amazon with the female Fighter Tohmas went to where to remaining survivors had gathered.

“My friends there is something wrong with this attack. They have only fired on us once and it would appear there were many of them. They should have been easily able to pin us down with many attacks. Either they feared to reveal their position or they have other plans. I fear there may be dark magic that could turn our fallen comrades against us. We need to free the souls of these warriors and inter their remains to the river. From there it would be difficult for the evil to use their mortal coil. “

“Master Halfing, Master Elve and Mistress Bard if you would prepare their bodies by removing the instruments of their death and remove their weapons. We need to save those arrows as proof of the attack and perhaps the town could use the weapons.”

“Good Cleric if you would honor them for their bravery for joining this Crusades , I will ask Earth Mother to receive back the life she has given. “

Then Tohmas turned to the Half-Orc,

“Brother, your great strength and gentle hands would serve to help these warriors pass from this place to the gentle sleep of the flowing river.”
Hoping the survivors would agree Tohmas moved the side of the young lovers to start his prayers to Atira.

Subject: Attending the dead......

I was checking the handbook to see if the cleric did a "Detect Magic" spell to see if any of our fallen might have items that could help us later. Because the ship itself is protected by magic that strength of magic would hide anything on the bodies from a general scan.

"Magical areas, multiple types of magic or strong local magical emanations may confuse or conceal weaker auras, although the Castle Keeper may allow the caster to spend additional rounds concentrating to decipher the confusion or reveal weaker auras."

So I suggest that the Elve, and the Bard start removing and saving the arrows, bolts and weapons and the Dwarve and Shaman do the last rites and the Half-Orc follow the Shaman and inter the bodies into the river. When that is done they all gather back by the Amazon.

We can all post our view on the action, if you all think this is a good idea.

I think we need to bury the dead with honor. The arrows and bolts should be removed from the bodies and their weapons removed. Any useful items may also be moved as they may aid the Crusader cause even in their death. Then the Cleric and /or Tohmaz could go to each and symbolically free their spirit. The War Cleric honoring their bravery to join the Crusade and the Shaman to set their soul to peace. Then the others slide the bodies in river.

Any thoughts on this folks.

We don't want armed Zombies on board. Yikes!

Subject: The Dance

Well I've posted the Shaman attending the Amazon. I tried not to make any decisions for her in my post other then her letting Tohmaz aid her. Let me know if she would want to do the Rain dance to completely be healed.

It will basically be her and Tohmaz doing a simple slow rhythmic dance in a circle around the deck. Tohmaz will chant and sprinkle water that had some of Rhiannon's blood from the bandage mixed in. The dance will last nearly two hours and she must complete it once she starts or the wounds will reopen.

Other members may join the Dance if they are moved to do so.
If Rhiannon should falter from pain or loss of blood she may be aided and supported by the Crusaders to help her finish the dance.

The Keeper may decide that this could speed the healing.

Subject: His Clan….

As it had become his way on the boat Tohmaz sat leaning against the mast in quiet meditation. Since he had finished his training to be a Shaman he had wondered the forests, helping those in need and looking for the sign that he had found the clan he would serve.

It was their way that the Goddess placed you where you should be. Fate had pointed him to the darkened lands of his ancestors to make them safe for his people to return; this boat and these people were the means to get him there. Tohmaz thanked his Goddess for the honor to go and help clean her lands. Tohmaz felt he was sent to serve his Goddess and would not have a clan of his own to serve.

The sudden screams of the dying shock him out of his meditation. As Tohmaz opened his eyes the sight sudden death was all around him.

He had not heard the whoosh of the barrage of arrows and bolts that swept the life from more than half of the Crusaders that stood around the boat.
Bodies lay still on the deck as death had come quick and silent.

Across the deck in front of him Tohmaz saw the Female Fighter calling for help. The Amazon had taken an arrow in her left shoulder and the fighter was holding the Amazon’s right arm were blood was flowing from another wound.

Not hesitating Tohmaz was moving to aid the warrior.
“Sister, let me aid you, the Earth Mother will guide me. Lay still so the arrow in your shoulder doesn’t move hurting you more.”

Turning to the Fighter, Tohmaz grabbed her hands clamped them over the arm wound.

“Hold that cut closed tightly and lift her arm, it will slow the bleeding.”

Tohmaz pulled his sheath knife as he turned to the nearest fallen Crusader, he quickly sliced through the man’s shirt, cutting strips of cloth. He also cut the mans thick leather belt and slid it out from under him.

Folding some of the cloth he made a pad, moving the Fighters hand he placed the pad over the arm wound and using other strips he wrapped and tied off the bandage.

“Keep holding tight to the wound, it will soon slow it’s bleeding.”

Turning to the Amazon he said,

“The arrow in your shoulder has gone deep , had it gone through it would be simple to remove, we could break off the tip and slide the shaft out easily. I must pull it back through where it had entered and the head may grab flesh and yield slowly. I wish you to bite this leather belt, place your mind above the pain and concentrate on biting through the leather.”

As the warrior braced herself Tohmaz placed his foot against her shoulder and grabbed tightly around the shaft of the arrow. Then with a strong hard steady pull Tohmaz could feel the arrow give as it moved toward him.

He could tell by the feel that there was no barb on the arrowhead and the arrow slide out of the wound.
Dropping the arrow Tohmaz grabbed another strip of cloth and quickly folded and pad.
He press the pad against the hole left by the arrow and reddened quickly from the bleed flowing from the wound.

As Tohmaz uses other strips to wrap the shoulder and hold the pad to the wound he calls upon Atire to help him as he cast a spell of First Aid to the bandages (0 First Aid is Bandages bleeding wound) to help slow the bleeding.

“Sister, rest now while I help the others attend to fallen. You are hurt badly and it will take time for these wounds to heal on their own. When I return I will tell you of a Ceremony that can heal your wounds in this evening, but you must be willing to help me Honor the Earth Mother in a Rain Dance. In return the Earth Mother will heal wounds as we dance. It will not be easy for we have to dance long into the night, but if you should weaken I am sure there are those here that will stand with you so you can complete the dance.

"Good Lady, please see to this warrior's comfort so she may gain strength for the dance." Tohmaz suspects that the female is a Rogue, he saw her lift the purses from the two fallen males that had been flirting with her. Perhaps helping her avoid temptation would keep her in a better light for while with the other Crusades.

And with that Tohmaz leaves to help the survivors attend the dead. They should be given last rites so that their souls may return to the Earth Mother and their bodies released to the elements.

The Bard is there with Rhiannon so I'll work with her to get the first aid started, the Cleric can stay alert to turn undead.

Shaman are known for carrying a healing pouch, but I didn't list it or any content, do I need to do that before using items that should in there? I'll get one posted for the future if needed. He would typically have healing herbs and plants, along with items needed for his spells.

I should have a post finished late Monday night. I'll try to get a Rain Dance Ceremony posted and a "Last Rites" for the dead to free their souls from the mortal coil and have a honorable burial from the boat. Hopefully that will keep them from rising against us.

Did he just say,

It is quite possible that the other river boats have tossed the dead overboard for fear of the lifeless corpses being reanimated as zombies.

Not saying that is happening here on the Ruby River Boat, but just saying why others may have dumped their dead overboard.

with a straight face? Well I think after we help Bri's character it's time to Perform last rites and give honorable burial at "River".

We'll have several hour left to try a Rain Dance ceremony for Bri, although it may seem odd doing it onboard ship.

The dance is a dance of Honor and Respect to the Elements and Directed through Tohmaz's Goddess. Being respectful to a deity does not disrespect your own deity. If your deity is of the same basic elements then it may even draw their favor.

I'll start a post today on getting to Rhiannon.

Doc saw Romo sprint to the cabin and enter behind Brutal.
The Captain had gone left by the car so Jack signaled the Captain he was going around the right side of cabin.
No one had checked to see if there may be more soldiers around back or if there was another door to the cabin.
Grabbing he carbine Doc headed toward the cabin.

As Jack crossed the drive he heard Romo speaking German again, as if addressing someone.

He could make out “Fraulein” but the rest was gibberish.

Reaching the spot brutal had taken by the door Jack worked his way to the back.

Carefully peering around the corner Doc scans that area behind the cabin looking for soldiers or a rear entrance.

(OOC: I assume Jack sees nothing behind the cabin and finds no other entrance?)

, here's what babblefish thinks you said.

Love, Miss, stay calm, we are not their enemies but their friends.

I don't speak German either, but my maternal grandparents were Wolfgong and Kaster.

I like the peppering of language into the text, adds fun either way.

Might even make for some comic relief if our young lady would give Romo a confused look and then questioningly translate his incorrect German.

Van could start to have some fun with her so called Heroes.

I thought of three different reactions:

1. She thinks these might be Germans training as infiltrators. ("Oops I didn't know it was loaded. Is he all right?")

2. She realizes these are not Germans, and gets sarcastic about the language goof. Sort of thankful for being rescued but cautiously wondering what the hell are Americans doing this far into German territory.

3. Ignore the goof and we move on as if it was said correctly.

Of course there are lots of other scenarios and Van is a great writer so what ever she wants is whats best.

Soße? I guess this is the best translation for Gravy. Doesn't quite carry the same effect, lol.

So I guess Ody thinks Val's character is better than "Rindfleisch Soße". How romantic! No wonder French is the language of Love.
