Day 2, Whitefall - Necessity, The Church, 9:30 AM PT
The kid had been amused by the concern of wearing his Colt 22 side arm to church. It sort of confirmed his thoughts of her as an inner planets person. She may have spent time in the black out here on the rim, but not much on the ground. She had noticed his jacket but she didn’t notice it hid his body armor and shoulder rigs with the PK 12’s snuggled under his arm pits; he wasn’t going out on a strange planet nearly alone with only one gun; the combat knife in his boot just seemed standard wear. He’d had a devil of a time hiding the smoke grenade though so it didn’t appear as some sort of odd growth sticking off his body. The doc saw him as the deck hand and may not know his real job was to protect the crew and keep the public relations balanced in their favor. When the wagon showed up and them folks were also pack’in he could only smile.
It had been a long time since the kid had stepped foot in church. Back home when things went bad with the local power grabbers it just wasn’t safe to be where they figure you’d be. They didn’t give no credence to sanctuary, they’d shoot ya right then and there in front of the congregation and then shoot any that objected. Wasn’t right to put them good people at risk. As time went on he just formed his own feeling about right and wrong and didn’t feel that preachers really had his interested in mind when they spouted their words. …This here Tubbs was just the same, work’n folks up to do what he wanted and not what may be best. But he sat quiet like to be sure Miss Stephanie was safe.
He noticed her twitch a bit when a young fella came in late. After an hour or so, the service ended and Miss Stephanie turns, “I need to talk to that young man. You stay here and I will be right back.” She’s off before Asher can protest, threading her way through the crowd as it gets up and files its way towards the exits. Asher wasn’t about to stay too far from her so slowly he rose and wandered over in the general vicinity. He’d respect her privacy in the conversation but he didn’t intent to let anyone get between them if possible. He’d just have to suffer Miss Stephanie’s wrath later if’n she thought him not mind’n her.

Subject: In Like Flint......
I'd say we are down to just Eol, Brom and me as players, but if we want a couple of more rounds of posts to finish this battle sequence then I'm in. I can Rp the NPCs of shuttle crew. Just toss some results of their actions and I'll build on that.
Right now they are putting themselves in harms way by getting between Coronado and the Kuldar, a mouse that is roaring.
I can also RP Berk as needed, heck toss me a few and I'll do my best to swing them in too. Just feed me some info to build on. Shoot..I'll do the whole damn security team and then some.
So either in game, Q&A or PM for guidance. I'll take idea from all of you.

Day 1, Whitefall - Necessity, Outside of "The Wreckage", 9:30 PM PT
Nelson O'Reilly staggering angrily toward them, locking on Asher and his fists are clenched with rage.
"You must be the engineer that Colleen here tells me she loves,Nelson, right?" Nelson makes a wild swing at Asher that he easily ducks, but Nelson stumbles and falls into the dirt. "Hey we was just going to get some noodle, want to join us?"
Nelson gets up and charges towards Asher again. "Nelson don't!" Collen yells angrily at him.
"A lot of noodles and little talk'n could make for a shiny evening." Asher says he sidesteps the drunken man and he falls on the ground again.
"Waitaminutedidhesayyouloveme?" Nelson says loudly with face in the dirt.
"Yeah he did, Nelson," Comes a voice from behind both Asher and Colleen. They turn to see an older gentleman, probably in his 50's or 60's with short hair and a serious look on his face. "Now come on. Enough with this and let's go home."
"Umm Captain I can explain." Collen says hesitantly.
"I am sure you can." The man replies. "But later, let's take care of our own. Max? Xian?"
A big man in a plain white t-shirt and camo pants comes forth and helps Nelson up. He nods a silent thanks to Asher. Behind him comes a rather short exotic looking lady. She is oriental but her eyes glow blue - literally (mech eyes) and her long hair is pure white as are her eyebrows. She also helps with Nelson but she examines him briefly that same way Willow would have. "He's had a Go Sa load, Hew but he'll be okay. Need to throw up and sleep it off."
"iain'tgonnathrow.."Nelson objects before throwing up on the ground between Max and Xian.
"Right, come on Colleen." The Captain says in a tone that allows no argument. He offers his hand to Asher. "Thanks for not decking my mechanic. Can't say I would have blamed you if you had. And also for being a gentleman with Colleen there."
Asher nods as he accepts the extended hand in a respectful firm one pump hand shake like his Daddy had taught him.
"You not on a hauler are you?"
"No sir, just bring'n in some goods."
"Right. Well, if you ever need anything I can help with, I'm Hewlett Stewart, Captain of the Morgan Creek."
"Pleasure to meet ya, Capt'n Stewart,. I'm Asher,Asher Talhone.. I'm the main deckhand on the Firefly..Rocinante,hope'n to learn a bit a engineer'n.
"Ahh. Transport. Never could enjoy that life. Not for everyone I guess."
Suddenly, Asher's comm squawks awkwardly, "The mule's headin' back t' Roc. Any o' you lot need a ride?" Wyatt's voice calls out.
Tapping his comm., "Capt'n..be right there."
Asher looks up at Colleen and Hew, "Well looks like noodle is out for tonight,gotta get myself."
The kid looked around at the others holding up Nelson then back to Hewlett. "Ya got a mighty fine crew.. Ya'll take care of each other."
Colleen waves to Asher, "Thanks Ash. Hope to see you around the Verse someday."
The kid tipped his hat then turned back and headed toward the Slaughter House.

Asher walked a little bit closer to Collen, not sure what to do he just softly said, "You know it would be nice to get some noodles,.do you know where they serve some good noodles? Noodles would be good right about now,,".
Colleen gave him a raised eyebrow. "Umm. Yeah, there a little place next The Wreck. Actually, now that you mention it, drinking on an empty stomach was probably not a good idea. We could go there."
A wave of relief washed over the kid, "Sounds like a plan."
Colleen and Ash walk towards the centre of town. Colleen is quiet now, no longer crying. She sighs heavily, "Sorry I dumped all this on you. It is nice of you to listen to me."
"Fang Xin." (don't worry)
"Truth is, getting drunk and having revenge Wa Cao (sex) with some complete stranger ain't gonna solve my problems. I'm kinda glad you came by. Hope you aren't disappointed."
"Yeah.. things don't always play out as we imagined."
"Well you are very sweet. Thank you." She says and leans over to kiss Ash firmly on the cheek.
"Bùyòng xiè,.." (you're welcome)
The moment is lost as someone hollers out loudly in your direction, "Kwai Jio Kai (Get lost ), you Wang bao dahn (Dirty bastard sons-of)! You can't steal my girl you Yi Da Dwei Bun Chou Roh (Big stupid pile of stinking meat)!"
Jao Gao (crud!), Ash thinks as he hears the irritated voice of an angry drunk and figures he's about to meet the guy that was tossed from the bar.
Turning they see Nelson O'Reilly staggering angrily toward them. He drops the mostly empty bottle he is carrying and pockets a small black box into his overalls. Locking on Asher and his fists are clenched with rage. The kid sees the sidearm but definitively in a fit of rage the man is not going for his weapon.
The kid was never really known for backing down from a challenge but this could go wrong in so many ways. Beating up a drunk in front of the woman that says she loves him ain't gonna make for a good evening, so he calls out.
"You must be the engineer that Colleen here tells me she loves,Nelson, right?.....Hey we was just going to get some noodle, want to join us? At lot of noodles and little talk'n could make for a shiny evening."
The kid sensed Colleen fidgeting behind him and hopes he wasn't going to be shot in the back,again.

It doesn't seem like Colleen is into Rip, Tear, Fling right now. Saying she loves the engineer. They can just find noodles and talk. Maybe Colleen and the engineer can work it out.
Ash was brought up a gentleman, sort of, so he doesn't take advantage.

Subject: Noodles...?
Ash asked Colleen if she knew of a place to get noodle. My guess was she had been in town long enough to know or they could just start looking for the local noodle house.
It was Asher's smooth way of changing the subject.
They can continue to walk and talk as they look for a noodle house.
I'd think going back to the Roc might be a bad idea with Chloe there. I could have had Asher offer to make her noodles.

Ash stowed Fenris's gear in Roc's mule and locked them away safe. "Well it's still a pretty night.. I can keep quiet'n listen to ya liberal tongue all you need." The two started to walking into town.
Whether it is by nature or years of being on guard, but Asher always keeps an eye out, even with a pretty lady. He notices that a man is outside the Slaughterhouse, across the street and watching the door. He ain't wearing a badge but something about the stance and the thigh slung holster makes Ash think this is one of Patience's deputy. He isn't watching Ash or Colleen though, he is just keeping an eye on the doorway.
"You ain't like most guys are you?" Colleen asks, "Most guys just want to get under my shirt as fast as possible."
"Well I ain't most guys,I do like being with girls,but it ain't much to hit and run,gotta be enjoyed by all."
"So what am I to do now? I love Nelson. I really do but now he gone and screwed it up royally. Part of me wants to forgive him and pretend it never happened and another parts knows I can never trust him again. Why do men always cheat? Tell me?"
"Well,,,," Lucky for Ash she wasn't really listening.
"Hell I ain't sure I'm even the marrying type. I've been true to Nelson but I thought about stepping out once or twice. Hell, 20 minutes ago I was fully intending on making you a happy man for a night. So I'm just as bad right?"
"Well,,,,,."
"Maybe I tell Nelson, that is it. He humps who he wants and I jump my own. Fair is fair, we stay friends right?"
"Well,,,,,,.."
"No, I don't want that though,." She starts crying again.

Asher noticed the slight tear in the woman's eye, "I gotta stow this stuff out it the mule,. You know it was look'n like a fine night out there, a person might find their soul in the stars,.,I could use some company and maybe get showed the town a bit. It'd be nice to have fine lady as yourself to be that one,.would ya come for a walk with me?" The kid gave her sheepish smile and a little nod of his toward the door. She looked at Asher, then to the bottle and then back at Asher and followed him to the door.
As they walked out Ash tried to catch Dash's eye..lifting Wolf's gear slightly to let him know he was taking it out to the mule.
"What's your name?" she asked.
Tipping his hat politely, "Asher,, Talhone,the crew usually just calls me Ash."
She nodded, "I'm Colleen. Colleen MacPherson." As they exited the bar, the night air was cold and refreshing, while the night sky was clear and full of stars. "I'm the pilot on Morgan Creek, a salvage hauler, Devon class. What you fly in on?"
"It's a pleasure to meet ya Collen,,. We come in on a firefly transport,. was deliver'n some bees so we're out there by the ranch,, I guess ya'd say I'm the deckhand,.do most anything Capt'n needs but fly it."
The guy you saw who was kicked out? That was Nelson O'Reilly, the engineer on our boat. My boyfriend, well ex-boyfriend now. I don't know how I'm gonna fly out with him now. You need a pilot?"
"Things been a bit slow lately and we got a full crew,.I'll tell the Capt'n you're look'n but it ain't too likely."
"What a gorram mess! We been together for a year now and he is acting all strange like. You know how hard it is to keep a secret on a small boat right? Well I knew he'd bought a ring and was planning to pop the question. But the damn BUN tyen-shung duh ee-DWAY-ROBUN tyen-shung duh ee-DWAY-RO loses his nerve, gets drunk and has a fling with a barmaid the night before he plans on asking!!! Shee-niou FAY-FAY duh PEE-yen!!!! Go tsao de Liou coe shway duh biao-tze huh hoe-tze duh ur-tze!! Ching-wah TSAO duh liou mahng! " She curses loudly and then smiles sheepishly at Asher. "Sorry. The drink makes my tongue a bit liberal."

Thanks for the update. I should get some more on Ash this weekend.
Was at the doctor's yesterday, had another blood draw. Trying to find out why my joints are inflamed and creating lots of pain.
Was starting to look like old Grandpa Amos from the Real McCoy's. A bit better now.
Go back again in three weeks.
