Subject: Correction

Flight Control Personnel Note: I just realized that, in some cases, I've misappropriated some shuttles that we shouldn't have. In several recent posts, I've referred to Type-6 shuttles when, in actuality, Peregrine should be outfitted with Type-8s. Not a huge discrepancy, really, as the Type 8 is just a newer/faster/more powerful version of the 6 buuuuuuuut... *shrug* ... I went ahead and edited the last two "flight deck" posts to reference 8s as opposed to 6s.

Aux Craft Compliment on the Peregrine is:

  • Type-8 Shuttlecraft (2)
  • Type-10 Shuttlecraft (1)
  • Type-18 Shuttlepods (2)
  • Work Bees (2)

...between the craziness of the weekend, the resurgence of winter (plus crazy weather in general), and a monster system outage yesterday, I've been "slacking" a bit, myself. Toying with the idea of continuing on with scenes from the flight deck from the perspective of Megan and Kook, today, thereby giving Arcani a bit more post fodder for Thomason. Hoping for a slowish day, work-wise, to do just that. *crosses fingers*

I've never really used minis in gaming, to be honest. I've painted several and such but, as far as actually utilizing them in a game setting... nope. That said, your solution sounds like a damned fine one (and extremely cost-effective to boot). Well done.

P.S. You ought to post some pics of the final results.

Posted framework for Ens Thomason in Flight Ops.

Assuming that Hebert goes down on to the Flight Deck at this point,

Once on the flight deck, Thomason will likely see Kook and Megan going about their duties. Megan will be buttoning down the 18's and Kook will be working on the 6's, They're probably close to finishing up the first of each, or have just finished. If they see Thomason, they will, of course, offer up a salute and a greeting, let me know if you need anything else, Dialogue for the NPCs (which you are also free to create for yourself), etc...

"So," Hebert asked, having made his introductions to Yas and V'Lur, "what can I do to be of service?"

"You are the ranking officer, sir," V'Lur intoned, taking up a PADD that Lt Zai had left in his possession, a short while ago, and handing it over to Ens Thomason, "thus, it is not my place to issue you orders; however, the Lieutenant has asked that we make appropriate preparations for the arrival of the Kuldar and Rytain ambassadors,"

((OOC: V'Lur will fall silent here while Hebert reviews the directives on the PADD, "ensure that all auxiliary craft, in particular, those that are warp capable and/or outfitted with armaments, be locked down with additional protocols in order to prevent unauthorized access to and/or operation, also secure remote operations systems and CONN interface in Flight Ops", Once Hebert looks up and/or responds, V'Lur will continue.))

"SCPO Kukkonen and PO2 Owen are on the flight deck, now, tending to the Type-8's and Type-18's," the Vulcan NCO advised when Thomason's gaze lifted from the PADD, "if you would like to address the onboard systems for the Type-10, that would be acceptable. Conversely, if you would prefer to stay here in the Ops center and assist in securing the remote systems and the CONN interface, I can send CPO Yasuo onto the deck with Kukkonen and Owen. The choice is yours, sir."

((OOC: Per our PM convo re: Hebert's choice))

"Very well, sir," V'Lur deadpanned, gesturing through the large window that overlooked the shuttlebay, "You will find the Type-10 shuttle in the maintenance bay. Access is via the lift or the stairwell just off the gantry outside this office. The assistance is appreciated, sir."

"Whether I see them or not matters little to me," Tatiana said with a shrug, "though it will matter to them if they do disturb this ‘lovely' conversation that we are having."

"You have very little to worry over, there, cousin," Nyx replied, gesturing toward the tall, heavily armed half-elf who, taciturnly, stood his post at one end of the bar, "That one, Murph, I believe he is called, yes?... it is his job to ensure no steel is drawn, here, without, unpleasant repercussions."

The woman smiled and sipped at her wine before continuing; "So, you haven't answered my question, Sereg'wethrin."

"Would an answer matter, Arwen istar?" he grinned cryptically, an alabaster finger tracing languidly along the stem of his goblet as he watched her, and the three fighters beyond her, "you seem to have already made your determination."

She seemed less inclined, now, to have him admit to his profession, taking his reticence as an answer unto itself. She did continue the conversation as if he had provided a firm reply, though.

",what people think of you would be very important in your line of ‘business,' I would think," she had observed, "I mean if they perceive you as a threat then they are automatically on their guard and this increases the difficult of the ‘business.' Now look at me? These people here at this Inn see no threat in me. They consider me harmless and therefore are ill prepared for anything that I might choose to do. If I were so inclined."

That razor-sharp smile danced on the Mith'ganni's lips, again, disappearing only briefly, when Nyx indulged in another taste of his wine. "My work speaks for itself," he said, "and it is the work for which I am hired, not my charm, yes? Let them think what they like,"

I'll try and have something else tacked up for you soon... unless, of course, you just wanna take my "basic thoughts" and run with them on your own... I figure V'Lur will basically go over the info he provided the rest of the FC crew in the previous post "securing the shuttles and the Flight Ops link to CONN" and give the Ensign his druthers as to what he'd like to do... Want to hit the deck and do the lock down configuration of the Type 10 while Kook and Megan are working the 6s and 18s?... Or would you rather supervise/oversee/assist with the remote systems and CONN lock from Flight Ops? Completely up to you...

"It is no excuse however," she went on quickly, "I could have caused injury to one of both of us with such behavior. My apologies sir! I will be more careful in the future."

"It's a good thing I'm not on the hunt of excuses or apologies, then," Tochi's smile brightened a bit as he waved away her apology. Nurse Cook had the reputation among her juniors as being something of a taskmaster or drill sergeant, seeing her flustered as she was at this moment, though, he couldn't quite imagine it. "You've met the new Doctor, we presume?"

((OOC: Assuming a positive response, if nothing else, maybe a quick "personal appraisal" of Moore from Dana's perspective?))

"Good, good," Lt Zai nodded, "Despite the mass turn over, it seems, all of our replacements are going to slot in perfectly. Unfortunately, we probably won't have the opportunity to meet Dr Moore until the staff meeting. Give her my regards if you see her before then, would you?"

((OOC: Assuming another positive))

"Thank you," he grinned, taking a step to the side, now, and making a sweeping gesture in the direction she had been heading when they nearly bumped into one another, "We'll let you get back to your day, then, Dana, isn't it? Have a good morning."

((OOC: And, anything else you want to add, otherwise, Tochi will let Miss Hustle-and-Bustle go on about her business. ))

"Sorry, sir," she stammered, "I should have been watching where I was going."

Lt Zai shook his head and offered a smile. "Quite alright, Nurse Cook," he said, taking his hand from her shoulder now that he was certain she was steady, "We weren't exactly quick to get out of the way and it has been a frenzied morning, all around. Just fielded a question regarding living arrangements aboard the Peregrine. If you're curious as to where your character(s) might rest their heads in their off hours, detailed information can be found here. Should let you know, based on rank, where your quarters are located and whom (if anyone) you may be sharing them with.

Since the question I fielded had specifically to do with Ensigns, I took the liberty of imagining that the quarters were assigned as follows:

P'Tammah/Maize

Thomason/Agris

Blackmon/Jenneric

Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine; Flight Control Office, Shuttlebay 2 - 1015

",have you seen the bloke, though," Megan asked from behind the second cup of black coffee she'd had this morning, "He's absolutely huge! Bigger'n even you, Kook! I dunno how he'll even fit at the CONN, unless he just shoves the bugger forward, which I suppose he could do."

"I haven't, pieni," SCPO Kukkonen chuckled without looking up from the console he hovered over, "but after our night on the base, I'm surprised I can see anything. How does one as small as you drink that much?"

"Inspiration," Megan chirped lifting her mug in salute and, then, wincing slightly at the fact that the action set her head to throbbing again, "an', perhaps, a wee bit o' stupidity."

"I saw Ensign Thomason in the gym, this morning," CPO Yasuo said, having just stepped into the office, PADD in hand, after running his daily checklists on the Flight Deck, "Owen's right. He is massive. We may just have to modify range of motion on the CONN seat to accommodate him." He deposited the PADD on the table and stepped to the replicator, ordering a cup of hot, green tea with ginger. "Speaking of last night," he continued, following a sip of his tea and moving to take a seat next to Megan at the table, "what happened to Ensign P'Tammah?"

"Our little Megan drank her under the table, Yas," Kook laughed.

"I did not," Megan snickered, "She only had the one and was gone before our second round." Shoving a springy lock of red hair from her eyes, her gaze flitted around the Flight Control complex in an almost conspiratorial fashion before she continued; "I heard that she came back to th' boat an' spent th' night in th' Lieutenant's quarters."

"Really," Yas almost whispered the question, his brows spiking upwards.

As Kook grinned and slowly shook his head, Megan nodded. "Tha's what I heard," she said along with a faint shrug, "I'm not sayin' anythin' happened, mind, jus' tha' she went in with a bottle o' wine at 2230 an' wasn't seen again til,"

The opening of the door, at that moment, cut Megan's gossiping short and drew all eyes (somewhat nervously) in that direction. Master Chief V'Lar appeared on the other side and some small bit of that nervousness disappeared from the eyes that had settled on him. "Further speculation as to what may or may not have transpired between Ensign P'Tammah and Lt Zai is illogical, Mr Owen," the Vulcan said flatly as he crossed the threshold into the office, "None of us can possibly know precisely what occurred, nor should we allow ourselves to hypothesize."

"Easy enough for you to say, Master Chief," Megan smiled, a bit of a blush flaring on her cheeks, "You Vulcans've no sense o' romance."

One of V'Lur's brows ticked slightly upward. "To the trained Vulcan intellect," the copper skinned man posited, "intense romantic love is nothing more than a set of stereotypical behaviors. Not having our discipline, typically other races are swept along by the process until it ends."

"And how does it end," Yas asked, genuinely curious.

"Either in conversion to a more balanced, stable relationship," V'Lur answered, "or in tragic circumstances."

"Party pooper," Megan murmured.

"Quite," V'Lur nodded, "Now, if we have completed our postulating in regards to the relationship between the Lieutenant and Ensign P'Tammah, may I suggest that we continue on with our preparations for the arrival of the Kuldar and Rytain ambassadors?"

"Yes, Master Chief," Megan and Yas chorused, each taking a final sip of their beverages before getting to their feet and recycling the cups.

"Good," V'Lur continued, "The ambassadors will, of course, have limited access to the Peregrine's decks; however, Lt Zai would like us to ensure that all auxiliary craft, in particular, those that are warp capable and/or outfitted with armaments, be locked down with additional protocols in order to prevent unauthorized access to and/or operation of said craft.

There will, of course, be an additional Security presence and protocols established at all points of access, but we are to implement triple redundancies in biometric verification and control permissions aboard all shuttlecraft. Mr Kukkonen, Mr Owen; I would like the two of you on the deck tending to the onboard systems. Start with the Eights and Eighteens, if you would. Mr Yasuo; you will join me in Flight Operations and assist with securing the remote systems and CONN interface."

A collective "Aye aye, Master Chief" sounded in the office, then, followed by a flurry of activity as the Flight Control time dispersed per V'Lur's direction.

Kook and Megan made their way to the flight deck and maintenance bays while Yas followed in V'Lur's steps and headed to Flight Ops just next door.

As the Vulcan strode into the Ops Center, he tapped his commbadge; "Flight Operations to Ensign Thomason."

((OOC: Assuming a response))

"Master Chief V'Lur, here, sir. I know you are not scheduled to be on duty until 1500 hours; however, if you have nothing else scheduled and would like to join us in Flight Control, another set of hands would be appreciated,"

((OOC: Completely up to you, Arcani, if you want to get Hebert down to the shuttle bays and get some face time with the rest of the department. The "toss" is there for you. ))

Hiya, Oxxia! So happy to have you with us!

So it's tips you're looking for, eh? Okay!

Tip #1: Never eat spinach with a stranger!

Tip #2: Don't pee into the wind!

Tip #3: Don't feed the Grugg! (But, do absolutely LOVE the Grugg!)

Tip #4: Don't lose that towel...

And now for something we hope you'll really like!

As far as gaming goes, if you're looking for something in which there aren't a whole heap of gaming "rules" to keep up with and such, the Freeform gaming area is probably for you... Just dream yourself up a character, pop in, and RP your little heart out. Boo Boo and myself are currently having a rather enjoyable interaction in a thread called The Bleeding Lute, for example.

Now, if you're looking for something with a little more structure, something a little more rules based, you'll wanna scour the recruitment threads and see who's looking for players and what "flavor" game you might wanna participate in. We've got stuff from Brom's Cyberpunk game (which I see you've already asked about) to straight on, good ol D&D. My advice for playing rules based games, though, especially if you haven't had any experience in character creation and/or playing , at all, is to do a little research... Invoke the Google and read up on various systems, learn how characters are created, etc....Or, you know, ask one of us Innmates! We're all pretty friendly and happy (if a little insane) and I think you'll find, we're all pretty darn eager to help out where we can!

That said... Welcome to the Inn! Looking forward to seeing you become part of our mildly-mad family!

How about thermonuclear warhead tipped arrows?

I kid, of course... Was just curious about the bless (as I've never really played a cleric) and the fire arrow question was more one of possibility than anything... I'd considered the lighting of them, myself, and wasn't sure how that might be made to work efficiently (unless the party got ambushed around a campfire or something).

Good to know on both fronts, though... Definitely something to consider. Ah-thank-you!

Unnatural.

One word, which, on this latest leg of their journey, had become something of an unsettling mantra. The weather, the way, the weary pilgrims; for each of these things, Talca's mind had whispered the word, hissing it's warning. Now, though, as the Lysoran pilgrims were set upon and the Syl pathfinder took aim at the assailants, seeing them for what they truly were, that one word was no longer whispered in his mind as much as it was screamed, over and over and over,

UNNATURAL!!!

Thankfully, due to Aedan's skill at weaving his songs, the cacophony in Talca's mind was able to be overcome well enough. The ranger released his arrow, a smile of grim satisfaction tightening his lips when the bolt struck home, a smile that quickly turned downward into a scowl when the thing merely staggered from the impact and then continued it's assault on the terrified Lysorans. Pepper had managed to fell that first abomination Talca had targeted and, then, that horrendous giggling,

Unnatural,Unnatural,Unnatural.

, A stream of blistering Sylvari curses streamed from his lips as he readied another arrow and maneuvered for clean shot past his companions at the giggler. Given the tight chaos of the fray, though, such a shot wasn't precisely easy to make and, given the way the vile thing had just eluded Irel's arrow, Talca wondered if it was possible at all.

Of course it is, a memory of Meri's voice whispered through the repetitive mantra, Breath, sight, and time, my young one. Breath, sight, and time.

Time is the one of those things I seem to lack, arwenamin, the ranger lamented as the chittering monstrosity had reached Pepper, now, and he still hadn't managed a clear line of sight. Vengador's rebuke of the creatures had sent some of them fleeing, though, and Rae had come to Pepper's aid, landing a blow on the gibbering ghoul that proved, at least, it could be staggered. Hammerfoot, also, came to aide then, invoking Kharox' power and inciting the remaining zombies, along with the horrific leader, to finally abandon their assault. Talca had another arrow at full draw, now, but, mercifully, there was nothing left to shoot at, for now.

"To me!" he heard Rae call, then.

Keeping his arrow ready should the undead horde return Talca acknowledge the command by keeping his eyes to the mists as he slowly circled the party. The circle became tighter with each circuit but he never got so close to the rest that he wouldn't be able to buffer another onslaught should one occur so soon. He heard the voices of the others and heeded Rae's commands, but, as the clerics worked at their healing, Talca's attentions were keen on the landscape about the party.

((OOC: Okay, as noted, Talca's playing cover man, stalking a perimeter around the party (and the Lysorans) and keeping an eye to the woods.))
