Hello, my loverly little Innmates!
Gods, do I miss you folks!!!
(And, hey... thanks for missing me, too... after these last couple of weeks - months?!?! - it's nice to know that someone, somewhere, needs me for more than the mind-numbing work nonsense)
Anyhoo... despite the "sudden disappearing act," the long, silent absence, and the rumors of what horrible fate might have befallen me, I am still alive and kickin' (maybe not kickin' quite as high as I should be but exhaustion'll do that to a fella, I guess).
That, depending on how you look at it, is the good news.
The bad news is that, as far as work, home, and all that other RL business, I don't see things getting better for me any sooner that the 6th of June. Wish I could promise a return to "full time Eol" at that point but I've learned that whenever I put that kind of thing out into the Universe, the Universe gets this "oh yeah" attitude and kicks me in the berries just to let me know exactly who's in charge. 
I will try to do better about, at least, popping in more regularly to say hello and all that good stuff, though. My sincere apologies to anyone who I might have "left hanging" in any way, shape, or form... I'll make it up to all of you as soon as I get the chance.

... I've been a bit "behind the eight-ball" myself, of late.
Won't bore anyone with the details, of course, just wanted to let you all know that I'm still here and, now that I've caught sight of myself again, am hoping to muster a post before the weekend.
Also, may I say that between the wave from Asher, the "change of plan," and his already twitchy nature, I'd say Sam's on the very cusp of fixin' ta damage all o' Frisco!
Reckon we can fashion a bomb of some sort from the grenades in the Kid's bunk? That'd make a helluva "shock and awe" entrance for us, huh?

Subject: I'd facepalm too...
...but I probably wouldn't feel it, so it'd be a wasted effort.
Sorry for the lengthy (and unexpected) absence, folks. Been a horrendous few weeks all around for old Uncle Run With Scissors what with work trying to kill me, my youngest one's graduation and such giving it a helping hand, and other RL issues chipping in there just to see exactly how much I can take before I explode... 
Good news= I haven't exploded yet.
Bad news= Not sure that I'll be able to manage a post before the weekend (Heck, I haven't been able to manage to so much as read any posts in a couple of weeks.)
Anyhoo... Tomorrow should mark the end of these major work related interruptions for a bit and, following that, I should at least be able to lurk long enough to do some reading and catch up on everything I've missed and, if i get really lucky, I might even manage a post or three before next week sneaks up on me.
Miss you guys!

Subject: Another "random thought"...
...occurred to me on this one, too, and got me wondering... How hard would it be to "hot drop" the mule (along with Andy, Wolf, and a good selection of the Kid's armory) at or near the mine as opposed to actually landing there?
I figure Bridget isn't exactly a dim bulb and could be likely to notice the divots left behind by a Firefly landing close by... if we do a fly-over and drop the mule out of the cargo bay, though, there's no landing, plus we get the added advantage of additional mobility once we've accompanied the sultry school-marm back... could come in handy if we decide we need a sniper at range or need to make a quick escape...
Just brainstormin...

The knot of tension that had tied itself between Flynn’s shoulders since the party’s arrival at this place, and had pulled itself ever tighter as they had progressed, at last began to ease when they entered the room suggested by the ghosts of lost loved-ones. A great sense of peace and safety washed over the bard the moment he stepped through the door. So strong and sudden was that sense of serenity that, had he not been so fascinated by the collection of books and scrolls that now surrounded him, Caicher might have found it more than a bit disturbing. He was fascinated by the expansive collection of lore, though, so he allowed himself to succumb to the prevailing air.
“Fantastic,” the bard whispered, feeling the need to sweep the hat from his head, as his glittering eyes panned over the place, “Imagine the knowledge and tales contained, here…” He took a few steps toward a floor-to-ceiling bookcase and, almost hesitantly, reached out a hand as if to brush fingers across the spines of the volumes there. “…imagine how long it would take to read them all…”
Caicher’s fingers stopped just short of coming in contact with those books as the sound of a tome being opened and its pages turned as if blown by a wind reached his ears. His gaze was drawn to the sound, of course… One of the others must have found something already… and he turned toward it in anticipation of the call that would surely go out. He couldn’t decide whether or not he was actually surprised to catch sight of a large book atop the desk rifling through its own pages… None of the others were close enough to have turned those pages by either accident or design, let alone open the thing… and there was no wind here, was there?... After the puppets and the spiders, though, was it so surprising to stumble upon a book that read itself?
Char thought so, apparently… The ranger couldn't repress the startled jerk he made at the sound of the flipping pages, nor his involuntarily stepping away from; swords up and held defensively before him.
"Uh," Char mumbled apprehensively. "I tink i' be fer you, Kilgim."
Then the bard smiled and, as he swept the myriad copper braids of his hair back under his hat, moved purposefully yet respectfully toward the desk…The Magician… he recalled the card from his reading and, for an instant, imagined the sage man depicted on the card sitting behind that desk and searching that book for a crucial bit of information… “No need for the blades, friend Char,” Flynn offered with a wink, “tis only a book… Knowledge and wisdom as opposed to destruction and chaos, hm?
Someone...or something... is trying to tell us something, I think…”
((OOC: okay, so I think Flynn is apt to get close enough to the desk and the book to be able to get a look at what’s on the page(s) to which it opened but will do his very best not to disturb anything in the process… also minding where he steps as he goes, hoping not to trigger any heretofore unnoticed traps/alarms/what-not…))
