Welcome aboard, Pudding... I chose to forgo the use of a spoon... hope you don't mind.

Also, congratulations on what I think may be the longest thread title/subject I've seen so far... I cower in the shadow of your verbiosity and your multiple hello-ifying.

Aaaaaanyhoo... like the rest of these lovely Innmates have already said, we're glad you decided to join the family and hope that we see you hereabouts on a regular basis, regardless of what systems you do or do not play... if you need anything, just float a post or pick an Innmate and shoot 'em a PM... Us staff types are here for that sort of thing, you know, and those non-staff types, I'm sure you will find, are just as helpful and friendly and knowledgeable and good looking and smart and charming and wealthy and made of oatmeal as us purple people are, etc, etc, etc, yaddah, yaddah, blah, blah, DING!

Hey! Look! It's Pyro... *ka-pounce, ka-facelick* Take that, torchy!

Bye, Puddin'! See ya about.

Welcome aboard, Michael! Now you can put that towel to good use, huh? Personally, I recommend letting it soak in a little before you wipe it off... it makes you sparkly, you know? (And not that 'Twilight' kind of sparkly, either, thank you very much... I don't care how many teeny-boppers believe it, vampires DO NOT twinkle!!!).

...Lori will have some answering to do, too, I'm sure. *nods*

End of the world as it is and all, though, I can almost understand how Shane and Lori would have ended up 'clinging to one another' the way they have - there's the whole familiarity/comfort in an otherwise crazy situation kind of thing and whatnot, you know? Tends to lead folks down paths that they might not have otherwise entertained and all that buuuuut... and they kind of alluded to this in this week's episode... While Lori's motivations for the thing with Shane might have been resultant of that "clinging to the sane and familiar" thing, it's pretty obvious that Shane's had designs on Lori before Rick even got shot... not necessarily defending the woman outright, just saying that there's a bit of a difference in Shane's approach and reasoning to the whole thing as compared to Lori's.

Anyhoo... Tann, if you get HUH? moments, of course, feel free to ask me (although, I think Meri might be an issue or three ahead of me where the trades go) and I'll do what I can to help out.

...that it's Rick that Shane needs to worry about... at least, I hope not. It'd be a shame if they changed the scene I'm thinking about... I think it'd ruin a certain character if they did... Won't say more but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

And, Tann, I the series, myself, and, in some aspects, find myself wishing I hadn't read the graphic novels first, too, because I find myself almost expecting the series plotline to go from A to B to C, just the way it went in print, probably, and find myself with those "Whaaaaat?!" moments like in last night's episode... Again, not really bad "what?!" moments just kind of unexpected and leaving me to wonder "Okay, so they already did this... where's that gonna go, then?"

Great series, indeed, and the changes take nothing away from the print version... in fact, some of the changes/additions have far surpassed what was presented in the pages of the trades and have given a number of characters much more depth than they had at this point when I first started reading.

No... I didn't have any sort of warm fuzzies about Shane from the get go, this is true... I just didn't expect that they'd make him so immediately unlikeable in the series, to be honest... I figured, at least, they'd give us an nip or two of 'sympatico' for the guy, at first, and then let things 'spiral downward' for him after a few episodes but, from the very first time I saw the character on screen I just thought; "Jeez! What a yutz!"

I know where they're going with it, I just think they're making it just a little too obvious, I guess.

Won't have a nice word to say to Pearson, at all, for sure... Other than that, he'll be flyin' the boat, doin' his chores, or holed up in his bunk unless otherwise required.

Subject: Not at all...

...what I was expecting.

That about sums up my thoughts on last night's episode, I think.

Was very surprised that it was more than just Glenn who met up with Rick and the "sequence of events" that followed. While ep 1 was about as close to the comic as it could likely get, ep 2 went about as 'round about' with the 'timeline' as it possibly could have, I think... Not that it's a bad thing, mind you... I don't think I really want the series to be an exact mirror of the comic upon which it's based, after all... just found it a little strange in spots, is all.

Much more character development and whatnot going on in the series as opposed to the 'similar timeframe' in the comic (which is a plus) but, at the same time, I'm thinking that maybe they're trying to move just a wee bit too far, too fast with some things... *shrugs*... we'll see.

Still a good episode and am looking forward to see where it goes next week...

I hate Shane already...

Welcome aboard, Chessic! Always nice to lick new faces hereabouts.

I'm sure you'll find plenty of D&D related stuff to keep you busy and/or entertained around here... and plenty of other stuff, too, if you ever get the itch to step outside the D&D realm and plop yourself into something with a more sci-fi, modern, or just outright weird flavor to it, as well.

Of course, if you have any questions, need any directions, wanna know what's in the coffee (trust me, don't ask unless you really wanna know), or whatever, don't hesitate to ask, either in post or via PM... Most everyone here at the Inn is helpful and friendly - from our staff types all the way down to our most junior Innmates - I'm sure you'll find that out for yourself soon enough.

IMO, the casting for this has been pretty much "spot on". Great choices for the roles, so far, by casting for sure.

I don't want to give too much away, here, but Morgan - if he shows up again, at all - won't be making an appearance again for quite some time... Jeffrey DeMunn (Dale), on the other hand, will be pretty much a fixture for a good while. Dale owns the RV you saw in the survivors camp in the pilot and let's just say the RV plays a pretty big part in the story at least for a little while.

Is it Sunday, yet?

...There are currently 13 volumes of the trade paperbacks, I think (each TPB covers 6 monthly issues of the comic, I think)...

Oh, and the hardcovers that Meri wants for Christmas cover 12 issues a piece, I believe.... There are six of those in print atm, if I'm not mistaken...

Subject: Firstly...

...Welcome aboard, Vybe!

Secondly, what's the hubbub, bub? It's always a tricky thing transitioning between artists, isn't it? I mean, you can't take anything away from either lolkat's or lyra's work on LD runs - they're both fantastic artists - but you can't say that the switch between one style and the other didn't take some getting used to, right? Kat had a bit more of a 'cartoony, comic strip' feel to it, whereas Lyra took our heroes in a more 'comicbook/graphic novel' kind of vein... And now comes Vybe... very much trying to stay true to the vision that Lyra's given us but, at the same time, trying to work a personal style of her very own into the thing (not the easiest thing to do once you've kind of defined your style as an artist, either, I know... you get used to walking a certain path and, when you decide to branch off down that little sidetrail, it's a little disconcerting until you get used to the rise and fall of it, you know?)

Anyway... Eol's rambling again... Point is, I liked the strip, liked the new artist's take on things (and am looking forward to seeing the "Vybe-stamp" evolve as we go), and, finally, I like coffee... er... innmates...

Or is that Innmates in my coffee?

*blinkblinkblink* Somehow, Pit, I find that hard to believe... huh...

Disbelief aside, I do recommend giving them a read when you get a chance... especially now that you've started watching the series... you'll definitely have an appreciation of how true the series seems to be keeping to the comic while, at the same time, garnering an even deeper appreciation for how the story's been 'fleshed out' for the screen as opposed to how it is in the print version.

The tank scene, for instance... didn't happen in the comics... there was a tank there, yeah, but Rick never went inside... One of those moments (but not the first one) that made me go; "What? Wait... that's not... Ooooooh... very cool..."

Gah! Now I wanna watch it again...

Subject: Yes... a break... c'mon....

This is all comin’ apart at the seams, Murph thought, trying for just a brief second to not think about the insanity of the whole situation but, despite those best efforts, finding himself unable to think about anything else… They hadn’t been out of O’Brian’s cellar for more than a few hours and already Jake was dead… undead… whatever… Mac might as well be… Alaster, it seemed, couldn’t make up his mind whether or not he even wanted to live or die and Amber… Amber had lost her damn mind and was lugging around a dead kid she thought was her own son… and everyone else seemed to be looking to him for answers that he had no clue how to give… And the way they keep snipin’ at each other, Sarge, it wouldn’t do no good to give ‘em… Comin’ apart at the seams…

Murph sighed and cast a look back over the rag-tag party as they trudged along toward Belmont Harbor, wondering what he would finally have to do to get them out of this mess… wondering what survival would cost… wondering, now, if it had even been worth it to come out of that basement… and when he turned his gaze back in the direction of Lakeshore and the harbor beyond, he came really close to doubting that it had been worth it at all. A pair of zombies had just appeared at the intersection with Pine and effectively put another speedbump in the party’s path… shrieks from behind told him, too, that the bunch that had been mercifully held back at the grocery store had managed to get themselves free and were likely not far behind…

“F#*^!” Murph cursed not so much under his breath as without it. There was no way in hell these people were going to make it… There’s no way in hell any of you are going to make it… not without fighting through another wave of those things… “Ain’t no way…” He held the shotgun at the ready and stopped in his tracks, turning to look at the others behind him…

“We need a defensible area, Tom,” the Knight called out, “The wounded need to rest!”

Voice of reason, right there, Sarge…

Murph nodded, his gaze sweeping the immediate area in hopes of finding just such a place. Not many options… nothing looking better than anything else… His eyes slid nervously back towards the undead duo up the street and then towards the shrieks that drew nearer from the other end, trying to decide what their safest bet might be… and Amber made the decision for them in that second and a half as she absently limped towards the open door of an apartment building that he’d noted as an option just a moment ago…

“Everybody inside,” he said, pointing towards the doorway, “keep an eye out and keep it quiet… we’re finding a place to settle for while…”

((OOC: Sorry… been a killer couple weeks… Anyhoo… Let’s head inside the “obvious choice” of the apartment building… Recommend armed folk taking point and bringing up the rear as we file in… folks in front bash the brains out of any Zed that may pop out, folks in the back keeping us covered until we’re all inside… then, find a suitable shack, barricades ourselves in, and take a breather…))

...the language is a bit tamer - I don't think I've heard the "s" word or the "f" bomb, yet - but it's not completely "sanitized" either. The gore is gory enough without looking as if the gore is the point of the show. There are a few scenes that have been mildly tweaked as compared to the comics but nothing enough to make one go "Oh, they derailed it right there..." and besides, the expansion that they did with some of the other bits was a great surprise and gave back anything that the "tweaked scenes" might have taken away.

...it was fantastic!

I'll hold off on saying much more until you get a chance to see it for yourself... The zombie "makeup" was first class... the story, thus far, has stayed so remarkably close to the comics that I was truly impressed but, what impressed me all the more, was how some bits and pieces of the story (as presented in the corresponding issues of the comic) were actually expanded on to a certain degree and, IMO, made for a much more enjoyable and engrossing experience... Can't wait for the next episode...

If you've read the comic, you will not be disappointed - you may even be pleasantly surprised, now that I think about it - if you haven't read the comics... well... now you've got a choice, it seems... watch on AMC or pick up the trades at your local comic shop and get to flippin'... I recommend doing both. *nodnodnods*
