Topic: Star Trek: the Edge of Duty Recruitment Subject: Hey there, Impulse!
Honestly, no "strong knowledge" of Trek is necessary (us resident trek-geeks are always happy to hold your hand and skip with you through the asteroids field where that's concerned). As to what's needed for the Ops Chief; here's a brief summary of the position per Memory Alpha:
The operations officer, also referred to as the operations management officer, was a Starfleet position within the operations division which was common in the 24th century. Operations officers manned the ops station on a bridge.
On the starship USS Enterprise-D, Lieutenant Commander Data served as the operations management officer and doubled as Second Officer, the most senior member of the ship's crew after the Captain and First Officer. On the starship USS Voyager, Operations Officer Ensign Harry Kim was the most junior bridge officer
As analytical operations relied upon knowledge of science and engineering disciplines, operations officers often performed the additional duties of a science officer, especially when a dedicated science officer was absent.
If you're interested, as I said, feel free to get in touch with myself or Olan and we'll be happy to help you "settle in."

We could use an OPS chief PC to fill out the Department Head slots, folks. Surely there's at least one more somebody interested in coming aboard and filling the position?

...Trek Tools is one of the coolest add-ons to the Inn. I remember when it was first tacked up (back in the Discovery days) and I just lost myself in it for like a week!
Fantastic job updating the scripts and such, too, Boss! I know it's not a "visible" thing for most of us but, I'm sure, everyone from the newest newbie to us venerable geezer types appreciate every little tweak! Kudos to Youdos!

Topic: Star Trek: the Edge of Duty Recruitment Subject: The Boss has been busy!
Just got done perusing the roster over my first cup of coffee and saw we've got "Mad Max" at TAC and Thor in the Engine Room!
Plus a smattering of NPCs hither and yon, as well! I Liiiiiiike it!
I'll likely continue the effort and sprinkle some NPCs here and there, today, as well. Of course, if we get actual players that want any of the spots I stub in with NPCs, don't hesitate to let me know and they can easily be swapped out.

Got the Bio for Lt Tochi Zai all but done and posted to the USS Peregrine roster in Trek Tools. Still have some medical history and such to flesh out in order to give a little more "depth" to the guy (plus I've got four previous hosts for the symbiont to consider) buuuuut, for the most part, there's your CFCO, ready for your review and happy to be serving with you!
Feel free to take a gander and, if you want/need any input as far as your own roster entry, don't hesitate to let me know! I'm back up in this mama-jama in full on Eol mode, people!!!

Topic: Star Trek: the Edge of Duty Recruitment Subject: Hey Tann
Check out the Trek Tools... Link on the first page of the QA or can be found under the Armoury menu above. Rosters for the old Trek games and this new one can be found there.
That said, here's what my "in progress" character sheet is looking like, just so everyone can get a "point of reference"...
Lt Tochi Zai
Chief Flight Control Officer, USS Peregrine
Species: Trill (joined)
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: 2333-03-15 (Tochi)/ 2095-02-23 (Zai symbiont)
Birthplace: Mak'ala, Trill
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 165 lbs
Eye Color: Green
Hair Color: Dark brown
Physical Description: Tochi Zai is long and lean, as some might say. He's on the tall side of average with a lithely muscled build, cutting the same sort of figure as a fencer or dancer, might. His coffee colored hair is cropped close to his head but not so close as to call it a buzz cut. He has green/gold eyes that sparkle with a roguish, youthful exuberance (especially when he flashes that crooked grin of his) but, at the same time, belie an aged wisdom beyond his physical years.

Personal Bio: Tochi Zai is a joined Trill and the fifth host of the Zai symbiont. He is a Starfleet Flight Control Officer, currently assigned to the USS Peregrine - NCC-79288 under the command of Captain Silas Drake.
Tochi was born in 2333, on stardate 10208.2, on the Trill homeworld. Growing up, Tochi was a curious and adventurous (some might even say rambunctious) sort of child. He lived with his mother, father, and two sisters on Trill and was always seeking out new thrills and looking for new places or things to explore. This curious and exploratory nature led him to decide, at a very young age, that he wanted to pilot starships and explore places beyond his homeworld; thus, he spent much of his early life striving toward that goal, never really imagining that he would become joined to a symbiont (that was his younger sister, Myrri's dream).
He applied to Starfleet Academy when he was fourteen and, after initially failing the entrance exam, passed it on his second attempt. He entered the academy in 2347, on stardate 24314.1, majoring in astrophysics with a minor in exoarchaeology. His thrill-seeking nature made for a somewhat stormy career at the Academy, but he did manage to earn Premier Distinctions in Advanced Navigation, Flight Control, and Advanced Subspace Geometry. He graduated in 2352 and, as a newly commissioned ensign, was assigned to the U.S.S. Perseus - NCC-78168 as a shuttle pilot.
While, in his early Starfleet career, Tochi earned a reputation as a "gifted pilot," his risk-taking nature often kept him from being what most would describe as an exemplary officer and, as such, he was slower to pin on his Lieutenant (JG) pips and, thus, move closer to becoming the Chief FCO than he would have liked but, his knack for flight control and astrogation did, eventually, earn him as spot at the Perseus' conn as an Assistant Flight Control Officer. Despite his relatively slow advancement through the ranks, he tremendously enjoyed his work, his shipmates, and his exploration of the galaxy aboard the Nova-class vessel. In fact, for the carefree Tochi, promotion scarcely pinged the sensors unless he was prodded into thinking about it by a senior officer. This attitude, however, was changed by an unexpected twist of fate in 2350.
On stardate 27584.7, the Perseus responded to a distress call from a transport ship who's deflector grid had failed and, as a result, had succumbed to severe systems and structural failure. Before the transport finally imploded, The Perseus' managed to evacuate it's passengers and crew, many of whom were gravely injured. Among the casualties was an older Trill woman named Kasru who was host to a symbiont known as Zai. While Perseus' Chief Medical Officer held out hope that the woman could be kept stable enough for the ship to reach a starbase where more complete and appropriate medical care could be provided, Kasru insisted that she knew she was going to die and she didn't wish for Zai to die with her. Perseus' Captain was convinced to contact the Trill Symbiosis Commission on Kasru Zai's behalf and, out of that communication, it was determined that the best course of action would be to transfer the symbiont to another host as soon as possible,.

Topic: Vigilante Q/A Subject: Agreed...
...wasn't necessarily "dead set" on playing out every little nuance, just stating that I was rather enjoying it and was sure that this group could come up with something to "fill space" while we waited for the DM. I'm all good with having a "whoosh moment" that gets us all to the "base of ops" without detailing every step.
That said, my weekend has wrapped up (albeit later than I'd originally expected) and, if work keeps up it's current quiet mode, I should have a post for Dak tacked on at some point today.

I've got a couple, myself - a T with the RDINN logo/ Adventure Awaits and a polo/golf shirt also with the logo. As Alacrity said, good quality (had them both for years now and they've held up really well) and delivery time is what you'd expect. Good investments.

Topic: Vigilante Q/A Subject: No worries, Fey!
Personally, I rather enjoy the "games/tales" that are heavy on the RP and interaction. Plot or not, this one has been fun already!
That said, I'll be heading out of town for the weekend and can't guarantee that I'll get a post put up in response to the "hooded hotty" right away. I'll give it a shot, of course, but as I'm practically on my way out the door, now, I can't be sure of exactly when that'll be. Should have something by Sunday night, at least.

Topic: Vigilante Subject: More chitty chat
"I suspect there are many in this town that need finding," Heironymus noted, evoking an emphatic nod from Dak, "I have spent some time out of the city, in the past, but now I simply seek to bring a bit of respect to those so down trodden they might as well be lost. There are plenty such in this town. It is a losing battle."
Dak eyed the cleric, not warily as much as with a certain understanding, and continued to nod at the man's words. "Can't say that I've adventured much outside Altondale," he muttered, "but, aye, I catch your meaning."
"Which is why Brown's letter intrigues me," the cleric continued, "I would like to feel that I could actually do something. But, no, I have no idea who he is."
"A matter we are sure soon to settle, mellonamin," Dak offered, "for better or for worse, uma?"
((OOC: mellonamin = my friend; Uma = yes))
