Subject: Geez...

...I forgot to mention in either of those last two posts but, great work in the RP dept over the past few days, gang!

I, myself, am hoping to absorb and address all that's occurred since Mac's last by this evening (with hopes of a post actually going up tomorrow) and have us 'nudged forward' shortly thereafter.

Topic: Star Trek: Operation:Persephone - Q&A
Subject: What made it off the Cerberus?

  • Personnel who were 'on duty,' awake, and near enough to an escape pod to have made the dash in one minute or less may have made it to an ASRV. (This includes whatever they were wearing and/or whatever equipment (padds, tricorders, tools, etc) they might have already had in hand or, for some odd reason, might have grabbed in the mad dash to save their lives... meaning it was practically in your hand at the moment and the only reason it made it into the ASRV with you is because you forgot to drop it in the panic)

  • Personnel who were 'off-duty,' sleeping, and/or otherwise not within 45 seconds of a pod - along with a greater majority of on duty ENG personnel in Main Engineering and several other departments in the area - did not survive.

  • Very few of the ASRVs that were ejected from the aft portion of the ship, also, did not escape the blast. Ther personnel aboard those ASRVs did make it off the Cerberus but not much farther (poor souls).

  • The singular 'personal item' that I can imagine might have made it off the ship with the surviving crew would have been Rrowl's knife and that only because the Rug carries it on him at all times... Mac lost his kilt (which, itself, was a family heirloom that travelled with him his entire career) and a damn fine bottle of scotch (not to mention any holographs, saved 'letters', etc, from Chantelle), for instance, and all of that stuff was less that 10 steps away in his ready room... Survival instincts won out, of course, and the kilt, scotch, and momentos were left to die in deference to actually getting off the exploding boat.

Basically, if you were wearing it or had it in hand, it made it to the ASRV... if it was sitting beside you (on a bunk, table, deck) you could have instinctivley grabbed it up and took off a runnin' but, with the red alert klaxons blaring and the ship screaming 'Get off or die', I doubt even Spock would have had the wherewithall to grab anything, let alone realize what it was that was being grabbed up... Sentients, the uninstalled cloaking device, a PADD/tricorder, and/or the random piece of job related equipment made it... Anything else is, by now, atomized.

Topic: Star Trek: Operation:Persephone - Q&A
Subject: Personal effects?

Ummm, just noticed that some 'personal effects' appear to have made it off the Cerberus with the Romulans... hate to say it, folks, but unless you were carrying it with you or had it in hand at the very minute the evacuation order was given nothing except for the one, uninstalled cloak would have made it off the ship with you... People, PADDs, and possibly a phaser or two (for TAC/security folks) would have made it, I'm sure... You would not have had time to grab anything that you brought with you from home. Sorry.

Edits where applicable, please. Thanks.

Just a reminder/note: I will be out-of-pocket as of this evening and likely thru sunday night (have to go take care of some business up north). I'll try to check in and update if possible but can't guarantee anything.

If i can manage some tiny updates today, I will. If not, I'll have something extensive come the first of next week.

Sorry for the short notice.

I'll try to get some posts in before I leave but can, unfortunately, make no guarantees. Sorry for the short notice.

Welcome aboard Innmate Iarus!

If you're looking for a game which has open spots for players, the best place to start looking is in the Recruitment Threads (which you've found, of course) and either post to one or more which you find interesting and/or send a PM to the DM/GM of that game. You'll find, i'm sure, I'm sure that everyone here abouts is always willing to help out with any questions you might have regarding play by post gaming, etc, so if you have any questions in that regard just toss 'em out there and, invariably, you'll get more answers than you can shake a stiffened halfling at!

Aaaaand, of course, you can always shoot myself or any other staff member a PM with your questions, comments, or concerns, and we'll get back to you in a jiffy.

Again welcome aboard, happy gaming, and we'll see you around the halls of our little asylum in the ether.

Tenna'telwan,
Eol

I reckon, if I were in Cay's shoes, I'd hate him, too.

Not that Nyx would care one way or the other, of course, which I guess makes him fairly apathetic, too... "Love me, hate me, be indifferent, it matters not. When Prien calls for your thread to be severed, precious, I'll be the one to answer that call... and your feelings, one way or the other, will have no bearing."

I've really got to put the finishing touches on Nyx's 'backstory'... Quite a bit of insight into what 'drives him' in that bit of storytelling.

Subject: Ellisian Ale. Shattered... not shaken or stirred

Sylla’s beauty, even in human form, proved more than beneficial to Nyx’s hastily assumed guise as a slave. As they had approached and, also, after they had entered the Grinning Goblin every set of eyes and any attentions that had been turned their way had focused firmly on the glamoured bardess, dismissing the tittering elf for nothing more than what he pretended to be. That sort of obliviousness, of course, left Nyx free to survey and study the throng of patrons, the layout of the tavern, and the location and disposition of any possible threats or complications that might arise, not to mention listen closely to the drunken tavern chatter that often provided much more information to one who actively listened for it as opposed to the majority of the staff and customers who, in all likelihood, heard the conversations as little more than background noise.

It seemed to Nyx, though, that this night at the Goblin was much like any other night at any other tavern. The patronage was standard fare – no overwhelming preponderance of Imperial soldiery or any other warrior-types, for that matter, who appeared to be on guard for strange goings on… no obvious chatter as to why the Sea Snakes might be out in force and so doggedly keen on minding their assigned posts – only the typical assortment of humans and half-citizens and their mundane barroom banter that might be encountered and expected in any of the countless similar establishments that peppered Port Drasnia. As long as they didn’t call undue notice to themselves or go out of their way to offend an angry drunk while they were here, it appeared that, on this floor of the Inn, anyway, that their only obstacles would be the two strong-arm types flanking the stairs that lead to the upper levels. Simple bouncers, by the looks of them, Nyx noted, watching as more than one patron filed past the pair of thugs on their way up or down the staircase, no concerns there, just yet. As long as we are careful not to…

((OOC: Double checking the spot and listen checks, here, just in case something ahs changed. ))

CRASH!

A tray full of drinks suddenly (and quite inexplicably from what Nyx saw) toppled from the hands of the serving wench who had been ferrying it across the room and crashed to the floor directly in front of him, splashing him with alcohol and bits of shattered earthenware and glass. Keeping to his role, Nyx reacted with a surprised yelp and nervous recoiling to Sylla’s feet. His expression was, by design, uncertain and his eyes were wide as they flitted about the place as if the elvin body-slave was expecting another mug or somesuch to be tossed at him by a taunting human… in reality, he was searching for Cay, for it had to be her doing that had knocked the load from the waitress’ grip… The witch’s way of punishing us for taunting her, he presumed as his yellow eyes caught sight of the half-breed glaring at him from near the Goblin’s front door. Would you have followed us in, otherwise, my angry cousin? Or would your self-loathing have kept you skulking in the shadows outside? You may thank me rather than threaten me, later, witch…

As Sylla berated the serving wench for her clumsiness, Nyx grinned wickedly, his eyes still on Cay as he stuck to his guise and began to greedily lick the splashes of spirits from his hands, arms, and lips, not bothering to brush away the shards of glass that may have still clung there. The glass, of course, slit tiny gashes in his tongue as he continued his ruse but he secretly reveled in the taste of blood-mingled alcohol that filled his mouth as the act… an omen from Prien… a prelude to the blood that was yet to be spilled…

"Come, slave," Sylla’s voice snatched at his attentions, "I've grown bored already with this place. I've wasted enough time among the common folk. Let us present you to our friend and be done with this."

He flinched at the sound of her voice, of course, and finally looked away from Cay even as he noticed the Silent Sister approaching the witch… Good. All together, then, and so no need for explanations to Dmitrova as to why we didn’t attempt this together.… “Yes, mistress,” he squeaked, splashing his hands in the puddle of alcohol before him once more and licking away the fresh dampness as he scurried behind Sylla towards the stairs… he didn’t bother stepping around the glass.

“Big strong mens,” Nyx giggled, blood coloring his lips, as he passed between the bouncers and followed Sylla up the steps, “Scary, scary… Good drinks here, though, Mistress…”

Before they got out of sight of Mallys and Cay, Nyx glanced back, flicked a wink, and grinned madly at the other half of the team. Then, warbling some sort of nonsensical ramblings, scampered up to the second floor behind Spite.

((OOC: Okay, again, keeping the spot and listen checks going for our cooky little body-slave… keeping a keen eye out for weapons on the bouncers and anything of interest on any of the floors as they proceed upwards – hiding spots, hidden doors, alternative means of moving between floors, anything that might be of note – and also keeping those elvin ears sharp on conversations and other curious noises that might be encountered in passing. If you need more specifics, just let me know.))

Unfortunatley, the millions and millions of dollars bit is just a dream and so I'm stuck here doing this help desk business... slow start to Monday, though, so, other than following up on some tickets that came in last Friday, I'm chillin' like a villain.

Topic: Star Trek: Operation:Persephone - Q&A
Subject: Some stuff...

First, I'm hoping you're all aware that my last post here re: no cat fights was meant in good fun and Mac Madness. I'll not put the kibosh on any intercrew dislikes, hatreds, prejudices or whatever and, if you want to have your characters dislike each other, that's all well and good... Hell, Kel and Mac really didn't get along much at all during the 'first two seasons' of Star Trek: Discovery... I will, however, remind those of you playing SF/MACO personnel that there are codes of conduct by which you are expected to abide and, as such, any 'cat-fights' or "other such nonsense" (especially while on duty) is liable to result in disciplinary action. (Mac should have been a full, four pipped Captain years ago, for example, but due to his 'temper' has managed to get himself busted back a few ranks, done some time in the brig, etc, over the years, and, as a result, has only just attained the rank of Commander). Anyhoo... Just thought I'd clarify that last post for IC purposes... proceed with your animosities and hostilities as you will, at your own risk, of course.

Secondly, regarding a couple of PMs I received:

DM - I've replied to you re: S'Talon... as I said, make me 'believe it could happen' and I'm sure something can be done. Keep in mind, though, that your Romulans will likely be visiting or, at least, communicating with Senator Vreenak and/or General Velal, before long and that may have some bearing on your ideas.

Lou - Couldn't reply to yours as the 'secret door' I use to access the Inn from work really dislikes usernames with 's in them and fails to send PMs. That said re: your ideas for Stan. I like the idea... proceed.
