American English is my first language, of course. I've got a fairly decent grip on Spanish (Though I hear and comprehend faster than I can speak and write it... ). Of course, familiarity with any one of the "romance languages" makes it fairly simple to pick up on/translate the others (Italian, French, etc)... I know a smattering of Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese (most, but not all, picked up in martial arts classes). And, finally, not that it'd count as a true language (mainly cuz I made it up) I speak fairly fluent Tichenese.

Ahhhh... so good to be back on topic...

No worries about the steaks, either, Miss Wil... Sam's more'n excited about gettin' ta lassoo that comet than he is about gettin' red meat... Long as you ladies shin back from the market with somethin' Trish can make taste like Ta sieu bao, ol' Dash'll be right contentified... ya'll...

It drives me crazy when someone says; "It's always in the last place you look!"

Well, duh, genius, cuz once I've found it I stop looking! Whaddya think happens? "oh! Look, I found my keys... guess I better keep looking for 'em though, just in case I might have also hidden this same set of keys in another place!"

"hi, my name's Eol and I eat rocks! My favorite color is clear!"

Oh, and BTW, C... THIS's e-mail address is actually "Red Leather" spelled backwards.... dunno if that gives ya any hints...

Y'know, I just realized that none of us thought to take any comm's along with us... Did we even buy any? I know Sam didn't...

I don't know that it'll really have any bearing but, considering the circumstances, we might end up wishing we were a bit more "connected" when we ain't huddled up on Rocinante... *shrugs*

Sam responded with a nod when the Cap decided to let Asher have his fun. “Might’s well,” he said, clipping up the stairs behind Wyatt, “Get ‘im back in the black all bound up an’ the Kid’s like ta shoot ‘imself in th’ hoo-hoo.”

“We got us a bit of time t’ pass ‘fore the meetin’, Sam. If you wanna check out the local color, I’m good with that,” Wyatt offered as they made their exit, “I’ll be headin’ back to Rocinante t’ go over some figures before Dodger tries t’ rip us off.”

Dash paused for a moment, his eyes ticking towards either end of the alley as he considered the captain’s offer. It had been a while since he’d tied one on and had a good grapple and, knowing Willow, there wasn’t like to be any steak included with the groceries – Ai ya, but a slab of ribs’d be right satisfyin’ – so, maybe finding a little hole in the wall where they served meat…

“Nah,” he decided, convincing himself that Beaumonde was just a little too close to the Core for his liking, “I’m shiny, Cap. If I’m gonna rope that comet, I reckon I prob’ly oughta look ta Roc’s nav systems an’ sech. Ya go flyin’ inta th’ tail of a comet an’ navsats get pretty damn useless, get me?”

A steak does sound gooder’n grapple, though, don’t it? Mebbe once we’re done wit’ this tech haulin’ we can pick up a herd er somethin’…

((OOC: Even though he’d really like to grab a burger, Sam’s gonna pass and head back to the ship, too. He’ll probably check Rocinante’s control and nav systems more than once, spend some time “plottin’ a course”, plus help Wyatt out as needed… If it gets too late and Sam reckons Willow and Kora are a might overdue, though, he’s liable to start suggesting that “we go ferret ‘em out”… ))

Completely understandable... terrible how RL gets in the way of the "truly important stuff" at the most inopportune times, isn't it?

It drives me crazy that "reality shows" have taken the place of "real entertainment".

Survivor! Bah! Ya can't call it Survivor unless 15 out of the 16 contestants actually die! Get that to happen and maybe I'll watch... heck, maybe I'll even participate (of course, that would be a two episode season... episode one: Eol and 15 others are dropped off on the island... episode two: Eol leaves the island with a million bucks, a new car, and 15 body bags in the hold of the ship. )

“I don’t think Wy-wynter meant Alloryn,” Dapple said after a moment, “… the bugs mentioned a lady of some sort that they were seeking. That compass thing points to the Keep, right? Things are coming together in a way I’m not liking.”

Is that uncertainty in the lad’s voice? Jal wondered to himself as he regarded the rogue and absorbed his reply. It was then that the quirky little spellbinder caught that hooded, questioning glance from Talas…

“What do you make of this,” the big gladiator’s expression queried.

In reply, Jal offered a faint shrug to the man to say, “I believe I am as in the dark as you are, my friend.” His curiosity had been more than piqued, though, and if this Alloryn was as important as the others made her out to be, Jal doubted that the discovery of a blade belonging to the woman so close to their objective could be attributed to mere circumstance. He was sorely tempted to simply ask who Alloryn was and what she might mean to Arien, Char, Dapple, and Kilgrim, but, as the knight was still apparently lost in a dumbstruck study of the blade, Jal decided to hold his tongue for the moment… instead, he tried once more to reach out to Wynter…

Wynter? Are you there? Can you hear me? He sighed softly when her answer, if indeed she had tried to reply, didn’t immediately come… Alloryn, my love… Do you know of anyone named Alloryn? Is she here?

((OOC: Just posting to keep going and “entertain myself” until Olan gets himself “freed up”… If Wynter does happen to respond, I’d love to hear what she has to say… ))

Sam still wasn’t entirely sure about picking up Griffith’s run – there wasn’t anything he could specifically put his finger on to justify his apprehension, really, just general distrust of folk – but, after watching Wyatt weigh it all out in his own brainpan and accept the job, Sam wasn’t going to take the other fork in that path. Free fuel helps, he mused, an’ I reckon th’ profit looks ta be shiny – good’n over what Grif owes th’ Cap…

When Wyatt rose from his seat and extended a hand to Royale’s captain to seal the deal, Dash slid out of his own chair and cast another glance around the place, once more surveying the random knots of patrons and, also, searching for the Kid. His mouth twisted into a knowing grin when he saw the empty milk glass being swept from the bar and noticed that neither Asher nor the gun-check girl was anywhere in sight. Damn but that boy don’t waste no time!

“One last thing, Griff,” Wyatt was saying as Dash returned his attention to the two captains, “Some Feds were pokin’ ‘round Royale when we swung by to see if you was home. Where the Nien Mohn’s concerned one can’t be too careful, so I thought I’d pass it your way just in case th’ Luck o’ Three’s got somethin’ ta do with that.”

“Yeah! Could be, too, they’s just lookin’ fer the li’l ruttin’ gremlin as poked that hole in yer boat,” Dash chuckled, nodding his own farewell to Griffith, “Whatev’r it was as they was lookin’ for din’t seem like it’d be too damn big…”

(OOC: assuming nothing more than a ‘go hump yerself, Dash’ from Grif or Wyatt)

“…Watch yer six, puhn yoh,” he grinned, “We’ll catch ya onna docks.”

“Where’d the Kid go off to,” Wyatt asked just before they reached the gun-check post.

Dash offered the Cap a wry grin and nodded toward the corridor that lead to the Idoru’s ‘back-room.’ “I reckon Ma’s boy done got milked an’ then commenced ta gettin’ his gun checked,” he smirked, “Kid’s got more hormones’n a ruttin’ billy-goat with ten peckers! Ya want I should go fetch ‘im?”

((OOC: If the Cap says "go get 'im", Dash will, of course, go off to fetch Asher - uncerimoniously barging in and telling the Kid to dry it off and wrap it up. Otherwise, he'll follow Wyatt out and back to the ship (or whatever)...))
