Firstly - collab post is up and away.
Second - agreed. I'm all good with a bit of retconning if things go any worse in HC. The more we discuss the posibilities, the more interested I become in playing it out, sooo... *grin*... And, yeah, I'm gonna have to see exactly how things end in HC before I decide the precise mindset Ch'dau might have in the aftermath... and depending "how far down the road" we pick up, too, would hvae some bearing.

Little Kitten, Big Kithran! I see what you did there!
*slaps knee*
*snorts*
Anyhoo... in all seriousness, Ch'dau would probably do alright with a dog around... the dog might have a problem but Sammy'd be like "Whatever, dog. You are not even snack sized."

Kazari do fine with dogs. In fact, they find them quite tasty.

I'm sure that, over the course of KCandK and HC, Kith and Ara have come to know more about the Kazari than most folk on Antaron, And, seriously, in the post HC timeline, all Ara/Sara would need do is ask and Ch'dau would tell her anything she might want to know. Assuming he knew what to tell her, at least.
I'm loving this more and more the longer we speculate.

Topic: Kith, the Cat, and the Khatun Q&A Subject: Ch'dau is thick...
... he'll probably go with Samuel, tbh. First, because that's what Kith called him "early on" and, second, because I imagine it'd be easier for "locals" to pronounce and wouldn't draw too much attention if mentioned in stories outside of whatever-village.
I figure he'll be quieter and more restrained in the aftermath of HC but still capable of incredible fury if provoked.
And, as I've mentioned before, I figure he goes the path of most "older" kazari on Capasha and becomes a blacksmith if/when our little trio finds a place to settle. Hunting guide fits, given the NWPs (or skills, if you will) on his original charcter sheet, but circumstances being what they likely are, smith makes more sense as he'd be reluctant to leave "Sara" or "Tara" for extended lengths of time (at least to help someone else hunt).
So, now I have a vision of a forge in town, in close proximity to an apothecary shop, and the proprietors of both toddling off to a cabin on the fringes of town when the market closes for the night...

Our little group definitely meshes well despite obvious differences! Meant to be a family sums it up beautifully!
ing at "Oh hey, sir, look it's your kid you haven't seen in over a decade!" *gestures to a catatonic Kith in the back of a wagon* "So uuuuhh, some stuff happened . . . ." While humorous, it would definitely be an interesting little sub-plot in that next tale.
Aaaaand, first part of the collab is off to Rer!

Topic: Kith, the Cat, and the Khatun Q&A Subject: Yup.
This thread initially was just going to be a thing about how Kith met Ch'dau and then it blew up!
A new thread for the Post-HC stuff is definitely appropriate.
Things are starting to settle down, here, so I should be able to get that collab started in just a few.

...now that I read back over the last couple of posts - especially the "So, what did you talk about while I was away?" bit - I think a collab with Rer might be in order, here.
I'll see what I can do about getting that started soon.

Topic: Kith, the Cat, and the Khatun Q&A Subject: I'll try and get a post in...
...a little later this evening.
Been a busy day, so far, and I'm nowhere near finished, yet. I do have an idea or two in mind, though, so, once I get the chance to pay attention to what I'm writing, it should come together pretty quickly.
Also - Loved the "post-HC" bit re: Ara's sword. Sooooo sad.

Topic: Hidden Corruption Q&A Subject: Well, you know...
...for a greater majority of the time we were locked up, we didn't even see the priest (unless I read the posts incorrectly). He was there when we initially put in the cells and didn't show up again until he had his "deal" to offer up and, at that point, Ch'dau was in his infection induced coma, so... yeah.
Besides, I doubt Ch'dau would have believed he'd get an honest answer from the man, anyway.

My MAN!!!
Rer - Good call! I hadn't really looked at the map, but you're right. That would be an almost perfect location... especially if, in the wake of all this, Ch'dau finally realised he was NEVER gonna get back to Capasha. *nods*

Seriously, though - I could totally see that! Not entirely sure that Ara would want to return to the Three Kingdoms, though... Mayhaps we end up on the Chindari Plains or the Chakaran Mountains?

Sorry for the bewbs rant. Like I said... wee bit "happy" as my mom calls it.
Also, dig this....
"There was an old kazari blacksmith that tended the village. Rumors said that, once, he was a warrior; fought to save the world, even, but few truly believed that. Even in this day, Kazari weren’t common on Antaron and of those that did appear, here and there, few of them lived long enough (or disappeared) before making their mark on history. This Kazari, too, had a Syl wife – a sad thing; shattered and broken by oaths she’d sworn despite knowing that she could never uphold them in a world such as this – whom few ever saw, and a half-syl daughter who had yet to be glimpsed by anyone. They lived at the fringe of the town, never bothering anyone lest they were bothered first and, even then, gentle and accepting in their reproaches. Happy to talk business but always shrugging off or diverting queries in regard to their rumored past conflicts with D’hurgan and his followers.
At night, after the town market had closed, fires would burn at the cabin of the smith and his wife and, at times, the voice of their daughter could be heard screeching protests, even over the occasional storms that rumbled through the region. It was a regular occurrence for the first few months that Samuel and his ‘family’ had occupied the hut at the village-edge, but, after a time, the outbursts became quieter… or, at least, less frequent and, not long after, ceased altogether. Had Samuel, Ara, or Kith showed up in town every now and again, outside of their stall being in the market without fail, the folk of the town, now, might not had known they even existed…"

Topic: Kith, the Cat, and the Khatun Q&A Subject: *light bulb!!!*
Ooooooh my!
I just had a crazy thought as to how we might continue the adventures of KC&K without writing HC off as a figment of collective imaginations... and, of course, this is going on the assumption that we all survive, exactly how HC ends, AND with the caveat that thesse are just initial thoughts and I have absolutely NO idea where it might go after.
Anyway, let's imagine things play out as follows:
- Davena ends up dead or worse... (sorry about your GF, Little Kitten, but it had to be done).
- Kith doesn't believe that Ch'dau and Ara are "real," just yet, but, somewhere in the back of her mind really wants to.
- A fight ensues. Kith loses (I mean, c'mon, a trained Singer and an unhinged cat-beast vs a salvaged sword? Please!).
- Broken, both by betrayal and "failure," Ch'dau and Ara take their leave of the party and, as I've joked about more than once, "retire" to some obscure region and do what they can to nurse their "daughter" back to health.
- Perhaps Ch'dau becomes a blacksmith or, better yet, a hunting guide... Aranwen teaches Sylvari history (and, on the side, in special cases, bladework)
- Slowly but surely, Kith "comes around" (though, PTSD, obvi) and things progress.
As you might have guessed from the "things progressed" entry, that's as far as complex thought was willing to go at the time. I dunno about you ladies, but I think that's a decent "framework" to start with should either of you like to continue after the events of HC.

...so, this song just came across my speakers and, while I've heard it before, I never really gave it much thought or "applied it to" any stories I've written (and I do that quite a bit). Just now, though, I actually "heard" the lyrics and went... "Wow! Okay! I can see this applying as ol' Fuzz Face bleeds out and, then, through some miracle, is brought back..."
Will you hold the line? When every one of them is giving up or giving in, tell me In this house of mine? Nothing ever comes without a consequence or cost, tell me Will the stars align? Will heaven step in? Will it save us from our sin? Will it? 'Cause this house of mine stands strong
That's the price you pay Leave behind your heartache, cast away Just another product of today Rather be the hunter than the prey And you're standing on the edge, face up 'cause you're a
Natural A beating heart of stone You gotta be so cold To make it in this world Yeah, you're a natural Living your life cutthroat You gotta be so cold Yeah, you're a natural
Will somebody Let me see the light within the dark trees' shadows and What's happenin'? Lookin' through the glass find the wrong within the past knowin' We are the youth Cut until it bleeds, inside a world without the peace facing A bit of the truth, the truth
Deep inside me, I'm fading to black, I'm fading Took an oath by the blood of my hand, won't break it I can taste it, the end is upon us, I swear Gonna make it I'm gonna make it
Natural A beating heart of stone You gotta be so cold To make it in this world Yeah, you're a natural Living your life cutthroat You gotta be so cold Yeah, you're a natural
Natural Yeah, you're a natural

That whole soundtrack is pretty spectacular - especially in regards to it's subtle dominance. I noticed it the first time I watched the movie, actually... the music is understated AF as compared to the goings on in the film yet it still manages to stand out. And I don't say that ONLY because Denzel is probably one of my favorite actors of all time.
