...where Michonne is concerned, at least if they keep the character marginally similar to how she's presented in the graphic novels, anyway. Admittedly, she does seem a little on the super-samurai/unbelievable character side, at the moment, but, without giving too much away, she's been a survivor since looooong before the outbreak. *secretive wink*

Her hesitation/unwillingness to answer the questions posed to her about her walkers in episode 3 has something to do with all of that, too... so, I'm figuring that we'll be getting a clearer insight into Michonne as the season progresses and, as a result, it'll make her a little more believable.

That said; yeah, Lori is really prime zombie-chow as far as the show goes... of course, knowing her fate from the graphic novels version... *shrugs* ... I'm torn... truly... :\

Stardate 2368.07.08
USS Discovery, main bridge – 0321

"Captain!" Ensign Thorn exclaimed. "The port impulse engine is virtually unresponsive. Output well below half of optimality; we're a miracle short of stranded, I don't know that I can avoid further impacts."

Well, Chan-luv, Jack MacTavish found himself thinking even as he readied a wide and hopefully pulverizing spread of torpedoes targeted along the trajectory of the previous strike, Ef this’s ta be me punishment fer missin’ our ann’versary…

"Sir,” Lieutenant Graham interjected, “I recommend we shut it down, NOW, or we may lose half the ship!"

…I reckon et’s fittin’. His finger hovered over the ‘kill switch’ and he lifted his gaze, prepared to request permission to return fire…

"Captain, direct hit.” Graham again. “We've lost..."

A wee bit heavy-handed, per’aps, but fittin’… I love ye, apple-blossom…

“Sair,” Lt MacTavish said, but stopped the thought and the reques,t with the word ‘permission’ forming on his lips, when…

"Belay that, Lieutenant," the Captain said, rising from his seat.

"Cancel red alert. Computer, cancel simulation."

“Sim’lation?!” Mac couldn’t help but voice the thought; it had gotten too far to keep behind the teeth he had somehow managed to keep from clenching. “Fer th’ bloody luv o’…” His hand flew away from the torpedo control display and clamped onto the top edge of the Tactical Rim and a puff of air – a sigh, perhaps – blew past his pursed lips… “Chroist!”

=/\=Affirmative. Simulation cancelled.=/\=

The warnings ceased, the lights came back up to normal, and all instrument panels returned to nominal readouts. The viewscreen flashed for a moment, then reset to a slightly different display of nothing but empty space.

Blair paged the intercom; "Now hear this.

This is Captain Blair. Red alert has been cancelled. The preceding events were a drill. You may now return to your scheduled duties. That is all."

Och! Th’ Rug’s gotta be bloody pessed, don’e?

MacTavish let go of his hold on the Rim, pushing himself up into a rigid ‘at ease’ and, with what might have been either a snarl or a smile on his lips, trained his gaze on Blair.

"Thank you all for your participation. Senior staff, I would like to discuss my thoughts with you in the Observation Lounge at 0800. Until then, try to get some sleep."

“Aye, sair,” Mac rumbled, offering the Captain a faint nod along with the grin. He motioned Ensign Soileau back to the Primary and strode for the lift, passing by Blair along the way.

“…give my regards to Lieutenant N'doog. The simulation he created was very good - perhaps a bit too good. I had not expected the situation to become that grim so quickly. Regardless, I very much appreciate his efforts on this."

Aye, Mac smirked, Ef ye wan’ ta farg up a fight, bring a bloody pacifist, innit?

"Thank you, Commander," Noah was finishing his conversation with Commander Patanko. "Blair out."

“Yer a fargin’ haggis, Noah Blair,” Mac chuffed in a hushed toned intended for only the Captain’s ears, “gettin’ me pressure up an’ sech. But stone me ef tha’ weren’t a fookin’ brilliant sim’lation… sair.”

He flicked a wink at the man and added; “Chantelle’ll be thrilled ta hear she gets ta kell me herself, aye?”

With that, he continued to the lift, stepped in and ordered up a curt; “Deck 8. Tactical.”

I could use a coffee… an’ a bloody cigar, Mac mused as the door whisked shut.

((More coming... figured the bridge part was long enough on it's own... ))

Mac's first blink took a bit longer to register in his brain than the Captain's announcement did. The second blink, though, registered immediately and was followed just as quickly with; "Yer a fargin' haggis an' a half, Cap'n Blair, sair!" The Scot shook his head and motioned for Soileau to reman TAC 1 and, chuckling, strode for the turbolift.

"Bloody fine, sim'lation, Cap'n," he said with a grin before the door whisked shut... "I need a fargin' coffee!"

Petty Officer 1st Class Angel Asencio was the TAC Liason to Engineering at the time I put this together.

I'll get this stuff to you ASAP, boss.

Oh... and a simulation?!?!? If I could truly swear in Gaelic, laddy, I'd be doin' it!!!

Just found a bunch of Discovery TAC stuff from missions gone by... Hooooly crap am I a geek!!!

Right now, I'm looking at an Excel file that's got no less than 12 sheets, labelled as follows:

  • TAC Senior Staff
  • TAC Support
  • A-1 - staff for the Alpha shift
  • B-1 - Staff for the beta shift
  • C-1 - you get the idea
  • D-1
  • Duty Roster - detailed shift breakdown by day of the week
  • Full Roster - every damn position in TAC is listed
  • SEC Senior Staff
  • and the A-1 thru D-1 sheets, etc, are all there for SEC, as well.

Like I said... Big. Friggin'. Dork.

Pop quiz: Who's the TAC liason for Engineering?

+1 to the first person that can tell me.

Hello there, Innmates!

I've been asked to spread the word that Celeste won't bee seen hereabouts until this coming weekend. She's got a bit of a shift going on in her real world, at the moment, and won't have reliable internet access until then... So, if Celeste is a player in your game (Olan, Roger...) or if you're waiting for the new menu at the Bleeding Lute, don't hold your breath just yet... you'll turn blue and fall out before she gets back.

While we're at it; send some happy thoughts and good vibes out for the lady, would ya? I'm sure she could use and would appreciate some Innmate love.

Thanks!

...is justification enough for me.

As I said, entirely possible that there is/was a security officer on the bridge at the time, just kind of giving Ody an idea of why TAC would've relayed the info to Security as opposed to the presumed security officer on the bridge (perhaps said security officer was in the head or otherwise indisposed... maybe he/she didn't beat Mac to the draw... whatever... ).

In the earlier runs, Tuvar was on the bridge fairly frequently, of course, but often preferred to operate out of Main Security... which, in itself, doesn't mean that there wasn't a security presence on the bridge... just kind of went with 'what Mac's grown accustomed to' as far as flinging orders around.

Topic: Star Trek: The Cassius Incident Q&A
Subject: TAC/SEC on Discovery vs "standard" Starfleet

To address Ody's question regarding bridge officers, why Soileau would have sent the message to security, etc...

Typically the Chief Tactical Officer and Chief of Security aboard a Starfleet vessel are one in the same person, so, technically, if the TAC officer is on the bridge, so is the Security chief. Having said that, Mac's handling of Tactical/Security is a bit different. Mac has never had the reputation of being "warm and fuzzy" where security is concerned and due to more than one incident in his past he prefers to designate someone else in the TAC/SEC department to head up security operations. He still maintains oversight of security, of course, but day-to-day operations are given over to Lt Reid... Mac and his Tac officers address the functions of both TAC and SEC while on the bridge, freeing up the Security chief and/or his officers to operate out of Main Security without the need to have a presence on the bridge.

Completely up to you if John wants to work this way or not, Ody (there is always a spot on the bridge where we could station a Security Officer if John thinks it's necessary... and can get Mac to think the same way). Just figured I'd give you the above explanation as to why there was no mention of a SEC officer on bridge.

Subject: Plot points

Aryn - plot points are a 'pool of points' (each of our characters has started of with 6) that are available to you to use if you want to add 'an extra something' in order to help make sure that you have a successful chance at doing something... For example; if Jessy wanted to jump from the roof of one building to another in her attempt to get away from the folks chasing her buuuut that target roof was a little farther way than she's ever truly jumped before, she might want to throw plot point or two at the jump attempt.

Alacrity explains this better but I think that's the gist of it.

Also, Tann - Bi Zuei is "Shut up"... I think you're looking for "guay" in that last post.

Ody - good job getting decks 21 ,22, 23, 24 covered. Buuuuuuut... the 'unauthorized lifeforms' are on deck 11 and, per Mac's last communication to John, he wanted boarding suppression teams deployed there, pronto.

You can go with the post as is, of course, and John can get a taste of Mac's blustery side... or, you know, you could tuck in a bit about dispatching teams to deck 11 and get a "good wairk, Lt" out of it.

Stardate: 2368.07.08
USS Discovery, main bridge – 0319

"Agreed, Lieutenant," Captain Blair answered, validating Mac’s suggested course of action, and set orders to the helm; "Ensign, evasive maneuvers immediately. Take us in the opposite direction of the damage, then come about to face this general position."

Discovery’s CTO nodded with a grim satisfaction as Flight Control (and all other Bridge stations) responded to those orders accordingly. His own grey eyes dipped to the console in front of him and his fingers danced across the display to send ‘ready’ orders to the aftward torpedo bay and relegated power to the aft phaser banks, as well. His finger hovered over the send icon and his gaze shifted to the sensor displays just as they pinged back some sort of energy signature… Lt MacTavish sent the order, captured what he could of the fleeting flicker of a target, and turned his attentions to the weapons-systems displays when the third strike rocked the Discovery. Mac clung to the tactical rim as the deck heaved beneath them and came down, more or less on his feet when the helmsman righted them again.
Warning indicators lit up on terminals all across the bridge. The situation was truly dire, as the computer itself chimed in.

=/\=WARNING!=/\= it intoned in a pleasant, but serious, female voice. =/\=Hull breach detected on decks twenty and twenty-four.=/\=

Jayzus!

“A’right, lads,” the Scot grumbled, his jaw clenched tight but his fingers dancing fluidly across the console, “Now I’m begennin’ ta get a wee bit fluster’d. Tha’s bloody three times these shaggers’ve peeked up our kilt! They’ve more’n airned a shiner…”

Wha’ en th’ name o’ Bonny Prince Charlie?!?! His scowl twisted into an expression that might have been confusion.

“Cap’n,” he said, tearing his grey-eyes from the LCARS panel at his fingertips momentarily, “Th’ sensors captured more’n a wee bit o’ inf’rmation on our attacker, sair. But.. Et’s gotta be bollocks… We be getting’ readin’s tha’ waft o’ Romulan, Klingon, an’ Borg technology…”

He flicked a glance at Lt Leiran; “I’ll be needin’ yer lads en sensors ta’ opt’mize us fer pickin’ oot melded cloak sign’tures, Lieutenant. Sooner better’n later… Please.”

((OOC: Anything from either the Captain or Lieran here…))

“…I’m afraid th’ wind is’nae blowin’ any sweeter fer us, Cap’n Blair, sair,” Mac continued as his console flashed again. “Th’ sheilds’re nae gonna stand up ta’ more’n one er two more poundin’s like tha’, sair. We’ve dropped sixty percent er better wi’ th’ three, aye?

There also be a decent amount o’ fairce tha’s somehow pen’tratin’ th’ shields; causin’ d’rect an’ tightly targ’ted damage ta th’ shi, sair... Reckon we c’n have Engineerin’ figger us a shield freq’ncy rotation sim’lar ta wha’s typical agin th’ Borg. Til then, sair, I’ve impl’mented those vera prot’cols.”

((OOC: Anything?))

Mac’s eyes dipped to the console, again, and the display evoked a deep scowl that might have been tinged with shock. “Cap’n,” he snarled, his hand already moving across the console, “we go’ entruders on deck ‘leven, sair!”

((OOC: Up to you, boss, if the following comes before or *after* an order from Blair.))

His hand fell irritably on the display then and invoked the comm.

=/\=MacTavish ta’ Lt Reid. We’ll be needin’ boardin’ suppression teams on deck ‘leven, and escorts fer any civilians, aye?=/\=

((Soft toss: Ody))

“Beggin’ yer pardon, sair,” Mac said, tapping the closed and regarding the Captain, again, “Might I be ammendin’ me previous plan ta one o’ suggestin’ we get the bloody hell oota here, sair?”

((Enough from Mac for now, I suppose… Room for interjections, edits, whatever…))
