Topic: Characters without stories
Subject: Ch'dau (Daeron Cynj)

One of my earliest characters ever was a mutant mountain lion named Ch'dau that I came up with for a Gamma World romp... Had a lot of fun just putting the character sheet together and coming up with a little snippet of a background... then, when it came time to actually play him, the fun just took off in all kinds of directions and, by the time the campaign was over, I discovered that I had essentially created what I lovingly referred to thereafter as "Kwai Chang Kitty" - essentially a wandering warrior/priest/monk type.

I had soooo much fun with that character that I ended up pulling him out of the Gamma World setting for which he'd originally been created, performing minor "tweaks" to the character and doing some hefty updates/re-writes/expansion of the backstories, etc... Turned out to be a fairly epic tale on its own, actually... and, in one form or another, Ch'dau (a.k.a. Dearon Cynj) has made appearances in numerous games, stories, and artwork over the years... I may have to dig him out of mothballs again, now that I think about it... might be fun.

Have you ever tried to hide a Grugg?

It ain't easy, lemme tell ya! Even if you get him into the suitcase it's inevitable that more than a lock or two of all that hair is just not going to fit in there... You can try and look all innocent as you go through customs, whistle loudly so they don't hear the muffled 'asdf' issuing from your luggage, and feign shock when they open the thing up to find a Grugg in there but they never, ever believe you when you tell them that you have no clue how a Grugg ended up in your carry-on... *shakes head* ... it took like three weeks to get Grugg out of Singapore after that fiasco... and I'm still languishing in a Mexican prison for the effort... and you can't get a decent lasagna in either place!!!

I'm older than Methuselah and I thought it was a fairly entertaining - if not outright funny - movie. Wasn't expecting much, at first, to be honest but, after being "convinced" by a daughter and a nephew to see it, was pleased to find that low expectations = darn good movie.

Should have a more or less completed character sheet and such to you by this weekend, G. Just toying with some class/level options... not sure if I'm going to go a "standard" rogue/assassin route or, what with the conceptualizing I've been doing, try a barbarian/rogue/assassin combo that's started brewing.

And the new ones are always so fresh tasting, too!

As noted by our industrious (and sometimes surprise spoiling but in a helpful way) Innmates, the actual blog section of the Inn is kind of reserved for staff entries. Replies, input, and such from the Innmates is always appreciated and encouraged, of course... Now, that said where the blog is concerned, Accalia, if there is something you'd like to "blog" about, the Common Room or even the Personal Creations forums are a good place to start... Just shoot on over to one spot or the other, hit the Add a New Topic link, and kaboosh you're on your way... give that Post/Thread a title, tab on down to the "body" and dazzle us with your insight, ideas, and all that stuff... We can hardly wait to hear from ya again!

*turns hat around backwards and sproings away*

When a newbie comes in
With an av as big as sin
That pops you in your eye!!!

It's a zen thing, you see? My way of becoming one with myself... or yourself... or themselves... or something like that... Sounds much better in my head, I suppose...

Anyway, Grugg does love the lasagna - especially the kind with rocks and watermelon - so, if you do feed the dear boy, do your best to cater to his preferences, yeah? If you just give him random stuff he tends to get the winds something terrible. The last time that happened Admiral's eyebrows were singed, all the windows in the common room were blown out, and my hat flew all the way to Finland (I still owe Raven postage for sending that back).

Topic: Characters without stories
Subject: Copyright clarification

Okay... in a broad sense, yes, anything that gets posted on the forums sort of "becomes property" of the "web site owners" but technically, that's not 100% the case. The Red Dragon Inn (and/or it's staff, administration, owners) have absolutely NO intention of hijacking any intellectual property, story snippets, etc from any of it's Innmates. The blurb in the TOS that's got Flanker all up in twitchy-town is there to primarily protect the Inn (and/or its owners) from any sort of legal drama where actual copyrights and what not are concerned, not to "steal ideas" from it's members or anything like that.

Technically, the posts you all tack up here become property of the Inn (inasmuch as some posts may need to be edited or deleted for one reason or another) and, if you happen to contribute anything to the Audalis Campaign setting that, at some point in the future, actually becomes part of that setting, it will likely become "property" of the Inn wholesale (because the Inn was, after all, originally created to be a "home" for our beloved Audalis). Your games, your posts, your characters, etc, are still all yours, gang... I'm pretty sure this is addressed elsewhere on the forums... I know I've seen it discussed more than once hereabouts, anyway...

Post away folks... I promise, none of the characters that show up here will end up in any of the Big Budget Summer Blockbusters that I'm working on.

Subject: Geeking out!

Okay... so a week or so ago I ordered the Serenity/Firefly blueprint reference pack from Quantum Mechanix, right?

Well, as I was leaving for work this morning, I noticed there was a package sitting on my porch so, of course, I stopped, picked it up, threw it in the truck, and continued on my merry... I didn't realize until I got to my desk and threw the thing down that the return address on the package was QMXs... I'm now sitting here, being horribly unproductive, and droooooooooling over the amount of detail this loverly little packet has where not only the Firefly is concerned but the mule, the shuttles... *le swoon*...

Absolutely pointless and meaningless to the game (except maybe where becoming a bit more familiar with the ship may come in) but I just had to share... cuz I'm a mite excitable like that.

I feed it a box of chocolate coated grasshoppers, a three pound bag of cayenne pepper, and an armpit hair from a werebear.
