As Highnar sat drinking his ale he was slightly surprised when the lady Vatta asked.
“Mind if I buy this round?” she asks looking at him a faint smile upon her lips.

“Ahhh lass that be kind of ye as I be on my last swallow.”

“I fear I need apologize for my laughter earlier, it was wrong of me to find mirth in the appearance of you with the stone horse. What I did was wrong and the hurt I have apparently caused you was unpardonable and unconscionable and I beg your forgiveness.”

“Nay lass it’s okay I deserved the humor of the others and I hold no ill will to any, after all laughter some say is good for the soul. It’s just my lack of knowledge where magic is concerned that embarrasses me.
I should have known that Stone Horse was too big but I did not. Never fear lass I’ll be me same ole grumpy self when we be leav’in here, but I thanks ya for your concern.”

With a genuine smile of warmth Highnar returned to his mug of ale.

The Red Lantern– Upper East Side – March, Friday 13th, 2020, 12,11pm

“Your right my bad, Preacher is your man but he still has his own voice, but answer me this Spiff, who’s in charge again.”

"I told you you're in charge." Spiff replied "Do you not feel like that's the case here?"

“My point in asking that is not meant to start another verbal confrontation, with you Spiff, but to get you to understand we do not have the time to sit back and relax. Right now any number of other netrunners and hunter teams are looking for us make no mistake, and we have to focus on how to take down the target and the more information we have the better. We are only going to get one shot at this so a back up plan right now is not the priority; once we have a main plan going then we can think of a secondary one, like Scribe said time IS not on our side. That’s why I asked for as much info as we can get before we hit the target in a ground assault.”
Turning back to the rest he once again posed the question.

“So anyone got any other ideas on how we do this”

(GUARDIAN)
“The snipe. I know how to use it. I'm not Delta level, but I'd say I'm better than the guy from next door with the thing. Don't know if we need the thing or not, but if you people seriously consider an open assault, then the more fire power we have is the better. "So, Croaker you're the man calling the shots. What's it going to be? Sneak in, sneak out or charge? I'm no ninja like MDK here and neither are most of us, and certainly not a soldier, but I'd still imagine we'd attract less attention by approaching the target on ground, by foot."

“Yeah if not by air that’s all we have left, but I don’t feel charging up there is going to get those of us who go nothing but dead. And trying to come up with the funds for that rifle may be difficult as most of us have very little on us or easily reached.
As for hitting the target from the ground my initial thought on that is I’m hoping we can find a scheduled delivery, intercept it and try to sneak in as employees of it but that’s a big risk and not sure if that will work.”

(SCRIBE)
“I think Guardian’s right. We’ll have more luck moving overland on foot—now I’m no infantryman, but we put people in a vehicle and we’re running the risk of all our eggs in one basket. We go in on foot and we can spread out as we need, no? Not to mention that there’s tech out there that might help provided we can get the Euro together to give Spiff the wherewithal to do so.”

(PREACHER)
“Yeah…Things like sneaksuits, radar jammers—I heard o’ them, but what’s the price tag, and can we scrounge up enough dough to make it work? Not to mention pull together a meet with a dealer in the limited timeframe we have available to us.”

“That’s the two main problems right there, money and time. We just don’t have enough to buy the things we need and even if we did, do we have the time?”

(FIREWIND)
“I don’t think we have enough Euros between us to buy that rifle Spiff was showing us,”

(PREACHER)
“Can you create something that jams e-sec operations such as radar an’ such?”

Preacher asked as he turned his attention to Lightning, who up to this point had been ominously quiet.

(BULL’S EYE)
“Yeah, something that can sit in the trunk of a car, or fit in a backpack?”

(SCRIBE)
“What’s your number, Peacekeeper? I’ll fire you a tag and you can shoot me the map. I’d suggest the rest of you with phones do the same.”

(MDK)
“I might be able to offer some suggestions if I could see the layout.”

Turning to all Croaker made a motion to get their attention.

“Look everyone lets get something straight yes I am in charge but don’t be afraid to tell me I am wrong. We all need to be on the same page or we are all dead, and I rather like life so we need to work together. For instance sneaksuits, radar jammers, and stuff like that I have never used so bringing that up was a good thought as I never would have.
And then Scribe bringing up the fact if we did go in a single vehicle we could all die, a very good point.
So anyone got any other thoughts, what’s your take on this Peacekeeper?”

Subject: Still here for now

Kane was ready when the lieutenant gave out the new marching order and new instructions, Then they were once again on the move, carefully sweeping the corridors, but finding nothing. Upon arriving at the restrooms the Lt gave the job of searching it to Lee and Pearson.

"Pearson, cover that hall. Lee, sweep the restroom"

Once the two had cleared the area without finding anything of note it’s was time to move on to other parts of the building and the Lt spilt the small force into two person teams.

"Kane, you and Johannsen take the communication center through the door across from the foyer. Lee, you and Pearson are going in here. Blake, you cover the foyer: Kane and Joannsen’s six, while I cover this angle. Move out, and be careful."

With Blake to their rear Kane with Johannsen slightly behind him and to his left entered the room as did Pearson and Lee from the other door finding no one inside.
The communications room is relatively spacious, and is filled with various computer and electronics equipment. Several girlie pinups decorate the walls, and a few empty styrofoam coffee cups lie scattered around an overfull trashcan.

Permission to do my thing, boss?” Blake asked of the Lt getting an ok in response.
“Lee. You have comms experience. Take a look at the satellite controls and tell me if the issue is with the equipment here or the dish outside. Johannsen, take over Lee’s post, please”
Kane turned to the Medic and halted her taking Lee’s place himself. Better to keep the medic healthy as Kane had a bad feeling they would need her skills.

A quick inspection of the personal computing station reveals that no connection to the internet is available, apparently due to a hardware issue. Likewise, the satellite phone is unable to make any sort of connection. As Kane waited for the next order he watched as Blake made her war into the room but as suspected the access codes provided to her before to the mission appeared to not to work as they were clearly outdated. The security system in place on the file and mail servers was surprisingly sophisticated, and according to Blake, to the point that some of the DOD guys would be suitably impressed.

“Very well, Moriarity, I accept your challenge to a duel, “she murmured happily, “May the best intellect prevail!”

“How long would it take you to hack this?” Asked the Lt.

“I honestly don’t know yet, boss,” she answered seriously, “I should know in a few minutes if the easy way will work. If not, “she pointed with her chin at the radio equipment and other electronics, “we try to McGuiver something.”

The Lieutenant gave a nod, “Let’s make it happen then. We could really use the security cameras, and I wouldn’t mind reading some of the recent e-mails to see if we can’t determine what’s happened here.”

Kane could not help but wonder at the term ‘McGuiver’ what hell was a ‘McGuiver’and was going to ask but the lieutenant’s next orders stopped him.

“Secure those doors. We’re taking over this post for a time. Staff Sergeant Kane, contact Corporal Hatherford and make sure everything is still kosher back at the observatory.”

“Yes Sir” Turning slightly away, his eyes yet on guard, he commed back to the observatory”

“Hatherford, its Kane, status report.”

Seems there's a glitch with the update user profile and as I had looked at the avatar pics right before logging out for my Fri nite Sci-Fi shows the Glitch got me. When I tried to log back into the inn after the shows it would not let me. Thanks to Olan this morning I am again able to log on once again.
As for the Glitch the Boss is going to fix it Monday or so, but again sorry for no post.

As Fenris quietly told Miss Willow all he knew of Brigit he was not surprised when she made a play for Dash.

“Oh Captain Wyatt? Perhaps you could lend me your right hand man here, “ she said …“I promise to give him back in one piece Captain, and I’m sure Wolf here is dying to see them there engines of yours and I’m sure that you and Miss Willow here would appreciate the alone time.”

He was a bit surprised when Miss Willow gave a girlish giggle and replied “You are too considerate, Brigit-chan!”

Almost as if on cue the Cap‘n responded in agreement
“I’m sure that good ol’ Sam’d love to be your escort. However, we’re not planning on staying dirt-side long, so I’d need him back at Rocinante ‘fore too long.”

It took Fenris a few moments to realize that Sung was well aware of what he had told them all about the lady Brigit, and was not placing Dash in danger but on recon duty.

Once they had returned back to the ship, Sung commented that it seemed like too much of a coincidence that Brigit had defended herself from a man similarly named as the one that had attacked Lullabelle Mine Turning to the new engineer he asked
“Got a description of the Ludlow that Miss Brigit took down, Wolf?”

“Yes sir Cap’n I will try to draw something up for you once we get inside.”

Without waiting for the ok Fenris moved into the ship, quite familiar with the design, and made his way to the galley. Once there he found a blank sheet of paper and wrote down the description on one side then on the other a rough drawing, with the word rough in highlight. With this done and the paper delivered to Sung he moved to the engines to look at his new babies.

The Red Lantern– Upper East Side – March, Friday 13th, 2020, 12,11pm

“Chill Croaker! Slow up a bit you're dead on target, but you're getting ahead of yourself. We've got time now. You're more than welcome to improvise later when needed, but we've got time right now. Let's not rush this. We need to get the details ironed out while we have time. Back-up plans are essential right now. Let's back up."

Croaker listened as once again Spiff tried to make it seem as if he were some impatient idiot. The more he listened the more fed up he became until finally the big Nomad had, had enough.

Without a word spoken Croaker slowly reached inside his armored duster and removed his 44. Auto and quickly, still without any word spoken, pointed it at Spiff and pulled the trigger.

The feel of the heavy pistols trigger as he pulled it was like the moment of ejaculation during sex, The slow moving bullet, elegant in shape and devastating in power, entered the Fixers forehead almost dead center but closer to the left eye causing the eye to burst outward in a spray of blood, almost a perfect shot.

The speed and power of the big slug lancing through Spiff’s skull churned his brain matter to slush and then exploded out the rear of his head. The blood spray to Croaker was beautiful as it spread out like a fine mist behind the Fixer finally coming to rest upon the back wall of the strip club. To the big Nomad the brains, bone matter and blood had created upon the wall a masterpiece as if painted by Leonardo De Vinci himself.

The big Nomad smiled deeply as he watched Spiff, his left eye hanging by a thin thread of tendon, fall slowly backwards to land face up on the floor. As the Fixer lay dead Croaker watched as the pool of spreading blood, brain matter and bone gristle looked to him as if melted gold waiting to be forged into coins.

Reholstering the pistol he turned to the rest of the group still seated at the table.

“So where were we?”.......

“Refills anyone?”

Croaker was brought of his vision of paradise by the voice of a waitress next to him to find a still breathing, still talking, and still very much alive Spiff.

"So let's relax. Flying by the seat of your pants is ideal when we're out there, but right now, we're enjoying a nice meal in a place where we can talk. Let's not rush this."

Back from the depths of his planned future vision he replied as Spiff ended his spiral.

“Your right my bad, Preacher is your man but he still has his own voice, but answer me this Spiff, who’s in charge again.”............

With MDK’s announcement of no air transport Croaker's initial plan was out
D**n it Croaker thought to himself as he leaned back in his chair and for a brief moment closed his eyes. Leaning forward he directed his next words to Peacekeeper.

“Ok Peacekeeper show me again the map Jack sent you.”
(Assuming she hands him her phone)
“Ok if we’re going with a ground entry we are going to need more info on the building and area around it.

Spiff I need you, if you can, to get us as much info as you can gather from your sources as to number of employees, any food or outside deliveries and on what days they do so. Look for shift change times, employee names, if they live on site or off, if off site try to find home addresses.

Scribe use your media contacts and check for any news stories or published incidents in or around that target area. Look for anything we could use as a reason to be in that area or to visit the target and gain entry.

Preacher I know you’ve been off the net for a good span and your not happy logging back on but right now your all we have in the way of a Netrunner and you’re a** is on the line with the rest of us. I need you to try a hack on the Biotechnica data fortress if the ICE is too black don’t risk a hack unless you feel you can.

Next thing we need to decide who among us is going on the entry as it stands right now Bulls Eye, Peacekeeper and myself are in, who else?”

Having successfully grabbed Jal, the little mage screaming and kicking as if he did not want to be saved Maximus paid him no heed.

“No! She was right there, Right there! I was with her! “Damn it, she was there! I heard her! I felt her! Wyyyynterrrrrrr!!!”

The ex-gladiator barely made it to the east side window, with the tower falling around him he did not stop to think of what lay on the other side, but barreled forward and lunged through it.
The next moment Maximus with Jal yet under his arm found himself on the ground outside the tower as it disintegrated into a massive cloud of dust.

As the dust settled and once again the night sky revealed Maximus eyes were drawn to a green glowing women floating in the air above him and Jal.
“This is not good” he spoke aloud finally placing the little mage on the ground. Then the voice of Char rang from out of the night.

“To Arien!”

“Aye,” Jal sighed almost exhaustedly beside him, “steel to the steel and mana to the mana. So it goes..”

“What Jal, what did you say, where is Arien, I cannot see him”

Lacking Kilgim’s night vision, dust still in his eyes, and a little disorientated from the fall Maximus was unsure of the Knights location.

“Jal, where is Arien, use your magic my friend take us to his aid...."

“Maybe, I’m no Fixer but I got some contacts who might know something.”

The Solo paused then slowly stood up and very slowly reached into the inner pocket of his long leather duster and pulled out his cell phone.

“Let me make some calls and I will let you know.” MDK said and then flipping open his phone he began to dial as he walked away from the table.

Eol reaches for the hand and within seconds finds himself tied up and placed in the back of a normal looking panal van. Blind folded and unsure of where Tann is taking him he sits quietly awaiting arrival at his fellow Mods destination.

In a drive that seems to take days but in truth takes only an hour the van stops and Tann grabs him, strangely gentle, and hustle’s him into a cold sounding warehouse.

“It’s time Eol” Tann says to him in his ear, his tone of voice unreadable, then without warning the blindfold is removed to reveal every member of the Inn waiting to welcome him back.
With a great yell they all scream at once.

“Ok yeah it’s a good piece of hardware but explain to me how one gun will get us in, much less out, of that facility alive”

Croaker watched as Spiff took in a deep breath, and let it out slowly.

"The sniper can provide cover fire, drop guards at the gates, et cetera. We could go in fast and quiet."

“True a very good sniper could do that, but the longest shot ever made was a little over a mile and a half, on a clear day, no obstructions and from a height of 11 stories. With the bullet traveling downwards, the wind at its back, it managed to hit its unarmored target with just enough force to kill him. We try that against an armored guard at the target and all we will do is set off alarms big time.
Considering the remoteness of the target and how important this drug, money wise, is to the creators of it. I would bet even money that there are installed cams, motion detectors and hell probably radar, at least covering out to two miles around it, for damn sure on the road leading in. If you know someone who can make that kind of shot, get him in here, as I know I ain’t that good.”

Pausing now to take a deep breath himself he continued.

“So aircar is out, Sniper is out, ok what about a Helo, we grab one at a small field, one big enough to carry 5-6 of us and we go in that. What about you MDK you’ve dealt with the corps, know where we can grab one?”

With Scribes words for Spiff to ‘dazzle’ them, the Fixer responded.

"It seems its bad luck today. Even if I were that good, we're talking weeks to make that kind of deal on the streets. What's worse is even if we get it under the radar, something that could take months, the gas purchases alone would bring us up on the scope of even those corps which we don't have on our six. Alternatively, the rental costs of such a thing, plus the bribe to keep it quiet, would be twice the cost of my other idea."

Setting his phone in the middle of the table Spiff brought everyone’s attention to it, on it was a picture of a high powered custom sniper rifle.

"We could buy one of these outright, and with a bit of work make it untraceable. The advantage here is that even while not looking like a paramilitary organization, we can secure an entrance and exit. What do you think, Croaker?"

Croaker looked at the picture and found himself looking at a pretty good piece of hardware. Very familiar with rifles of that sort the Nomad had to admit he would not have minded owning one, but he could not see how one gun could get them in or out of the target. Bringing his thoughts into words he posed just that question.

“Ok yeah it’s a good piece of hardware but explain to me how one gun will get us in, much less out, of that facility alive”

Having shrugged off a second attack by a lizard in less then a day the Syl ranger knew he was hurt but he had no time to heal.

Watching as his first arrow buried itself deeply into the neck of the wounded lizard, that had already suffered a hard hit by Thondrek, Malius saw Geim was in trouble. As he went to resling his bow he was beaten to Giem’s aid by both Elessarae and Loda.
Seeing his help there was no longer needed, and Thondrek had matters well in hand, the Syl turned his attention to the second unwounded lizard.

Another nocked arrow released Malius watched as it flew towards his new target.....

Highnar halfway up the stairs headed to his room, his mind elsewhere, realized the companions had yet to rent any. Turning once again to move down the stairs, his embarrassment now even worse, he made his way towards the bar where he ordered his first stout beer. Now 90 minutes later he drained his 4th mini-barrel like mug and ordered a fifth.

For now Highnar would drink his embarrassment away as good dwarves did and when the party was ready to move out he would be ready. It would take many more draughts for he to be incorporated and he knew his limits, another 6 mugs and he would find a quiet place to nap.....
