Topic: Voyages of the Rocinante - Firefly RPG QnA Subject: OK Question
Al in the OCC portion of your new post you posted this.
Dealing with Brigit. Willow knows there is something about her that ain't right. Wyatt gets the feeling she is nice enough, but Wyatt doesn't trust anyone he don't know well enough. Sam is deep in lust and would do anything for her in hopes to getting into that skirt.
And did not mention anything in respect to Fenris. Does that mean I can play my dealing with her my way and or would I be aware something is wrong having been around her longer then the others.
Waiting on posting till I hear from you.

Topic: The Chakran Portal - an Adventure in Audalis Subject: But I like it up here LOL
“I am here bladesinger, above you on the roof, what knowledge is it you seek from me.”
Malius watched as the young bladesinger turned and spotted him crouched on the roof.
"I wish your aid in examining the tracks of the creature that flashed by and from them try to deduce the base creature that it has been mutated from. It may give us an idea how to combat it."
For the moment he was unsure if he should drop from the roof and his vantage point of the whole village but she had a point. The more they could know of this creature the better they could kill it and in doing so avoid another battle as with the giant maggot in the tower.
His bow slung, arrows returned to thier quiver, he quickly scaled down the outside of the Inns wall and joined the Bladesinger on the ground. A smile almost broke his stony face as he found that both Codo and Podo had beaten him to her side and the two ferrets were watching her closely, though not in a hostile way but more so in curiosity.
Without a word hoping the brief flash of a smile had gone unnoticed he knelt and examined the creature’s tracks.
(OK Al up to you to tell me what I find)

Topic: A Cold Day in Hell Q&A Subject: My School visit update
Ok out of a cost of $13,240 for the school’s tuition I qualified for a Pell grant and 2 other grants that left me with a final cost of $3,885 that I would have to pay back to the school.
As of right now my Financial Adviser (Mom )is double checking the info given to me and I have a meeting with her Saturday night to go over her thoughts.
I would be training to be an AC tech which considering this is Texas is a VERY well paying job with a minimum starting pay rate of $12 an hour and a max of $25 depending on what field I specialize in and what kind of company picks me up, as the school guarantees if I pass the course to find me a job.
I have a second meeting with them next Wednesday and could start the school as soon as the 25th of this month and the length of the class is 7 ½ months. I will keep you all up to date on how things go.

Topic: A Cold Day in Hell Subject: Promised post from this AM
The Lt’s reply was quick and to the point with no hesitation and Kane had to give it to the ‘old man’ when he gave an order he was sure it was right and so far he had not made a bad call.
“Good thinking, Sarge But we're leaving two men behind with theses soldiers, and I'd feel better about the situation were there less for them to cover should trouble hit. ‘Sides, there's always that way out." The Lieutenant then pointed towards the ceiling bay doors as he reached with the other hand to retrieve his weapons, and moved off to talk to Blake.
D**n should of thought of that myself Turning to the rest of the squad he did as the Lt had ordered.
“Ok listen up, Hatherford, Hart, stay here and set up a temp bivoc, Hart your in charge.
Make sure that these two troopers get some food and water into them and monitor your coms incase we need you. I want one of you on the entrance door at all times, recog code is ‘broken arrow‘, all clear response is 'apache', danger response 'Comanche”
Turning back to the Lt, Kane gave him the high sign that the rest of the unit was ready to move on his command.
"All right people!" The Lt spoke as he turned from the Chief and once again moved to the door in the lead.
"Move out!"
As Kane once again was about to open his mouth as to the danger of the senior in command being in front he decided to hold his tongue. Clear it was that Kernan was a lead from the front commander and for Kane to try and stop him from doing so was a waste of breath. For now the Staff Sergeant would hold his tongue and follow through....
(OOC: OK I picked those two troopers as I have not seen a post from Vesper or Grugg in some time and thought it best to leave them behind so the active players were invovled in the search. Olan if you need my picks changed let me know and I will do so.)

But I have to leave shortly for a meeting with an admissions officer to see about going back to school and find out if I am eligible for financial aid.
Have to thank Admiral for this as the more I thought about his situation the more the idea of going back to school to learn a skill appealed to me.

Topic: A Cold Day in Hell Q&A Subject: Yeah Well
That was differrent the two four man units were headed TOWARDS each other not AWAY from each other.
In this situation I would feel better with the old adage "Keep friends close keep your enemies closer" But I am only a lowly NCO and will follow the Lt's orders.
And Hey Yanamari's back

Topic: A Cold Day in Hell Subject: Once more a word of caution
As Kane sat quietly awaiting any hostile move, his M251 at the ready, he thought to himself that the troopers inside the large room with the Lt seemed out of whack somehow.
He had heard of and experienced quite a few crazy things but the more he listened the more he felt like they had stepped into the movie “Aliens”
Then the Lt seemed to reach a turning point with the barricaded troopers and within minutes all 3 were in the hallway together. With the possible hostilities for the moment at a truce Lt. Kernan turned and pointed towards the far wall. "As much as I hate to say it, we've got to check out the main lab. Near as I can figure, this here's the best spot to establish base camp. One way in, one way out, easy to cover. So, pull it together folks.
Camp'll be there. Sgt. Kane, establish a two man watch on the door. Doc, check out these boys and see if there isn't something you can do to help them recover from their exhaustion. No injuries, boys? OK, Doc here'll make sure we ain't missing nothing if you'll let her.”
(Before the Lt turns to talk to Blake)
“Sir again with all due respect but one way in, one way out like you said also means ONE way out. If we are attacked by a larger force there will be nowhere to withdraw too in case it becomes necessary.”
Kane waited before issuing the set up order to give the Lt a chance to maybe change his mind.....

Topic: The Chakran Portal - an Adventure in Audalis Subject: The Ranger finally speaks LOL
Malius could feel the quiet of the town now that most of its inhabitants were dead; it was a very eerie feel. Though death to most was a natural thing, to Sylvari it was more a passing thought due to their long lives. As Malius sat and kept watch, his attention sorely on preventing another massacre, he knew at once when someone came outside from the inn. Though he knew not who it was at first he was yet taken by surprise when it was revealed to be the young bladesinger calling out to him.
"Ranger, I have need of your knowledge."
“I am here bladesinger, above you on the roof, what knowledge is it you seek from me.”

Topic: The Chakran Portal - an Adventure in Audalis Subject: Remaining in place
Quietly Malius watched from the Inn’s roof top his Sylvari senses on full alert for any type of movement. Through his connection with Podo and Codo, they themselves searching, the dark skinned Ranger knew for the moment whatever had slaughtered the townsfolk was gone.
It was then that he noticed a change in the air. A sound approached his ears, and then both Ferrets heard it too sending to him their impressions. A horse was coming towards the town at a rapid pace and within moments, Malius and the Ferrets could see it through the trees, baring on its back the Lady Quilanday.
As Malius watched, she reached the front of the Inn and the others now gathered there at first taking no notice of the dead townsfolk. It was only when she had descended from her steed, and walked up to Elessarae that she realized the picture of this town was wrong. Her mouth dropped open, and she glared at those companions on the ground in disbelief.
Without any words spoken at her shocked discovery she quickly took the rest of the party with her into the Inn.
Malius, now alone of the companions yet outdoors did not move from his perch atop the Inn’s roof. Whatever news Quilanday had to tell them could be repeated to him at a later time. For the moment the Sylvari Ranger would remain where he was and keep watch with Podo and Codo. Whatever had killed the townsfolk was yet on the loose and though gone for the moment it could as quickly return, if it did Malius would be ready and waiting.....

Topic: The Guiding Light Subject: Lizards
As Tal’Anor quietly listened to the talk of how to go about attacking the Pirate encampment he was glad that Varuna, even though hesitant, was willing to kill if necessary.
With the groups small numbers every blade in the fight would be helpful to say the least.
Here it was that Val once again echoed Ena’s question of gaining the lizard folk as allies, a question clearly overlooked in the discussion of Varuna’s intention of kill or not to kill.
“Yes Val, Ena spoke wisely of enlisting their aid. As we are only four in number their help could sway the coming fight in our favor. But how do we contact them and who does the talking?”

Topic: The Guiding Light Q&A Subject: Van Van Van LOL
Once again my lady you have failed to deduce* the present eloquent* awareness of posts (Big words I think).
In Brianna’s last post she responded to your Lizard folk idea in that she thought it was a possibility. I think what happened here is the question was overlooked by YeOlde talking about his reservations on killing, I will post something about the idea also as having more numbers then your enemy is always a good thing.

Topic: Peradyse Lost Subject: More Beer here!!
As Highnar sat quietly, a tankard of beer in front of him thanks to Xour, for the first time since joining this group the Dwarf felt relaxed.
Clear to him it was that here among these adventures he was well liked and he too was slowly starting to consider them all family. Where next their travels would lead them he cared not for now the company of these fellow adventurers was enough. His beer to his mouth the tankard now empty he turned to Xour with a grin.
“Ahh Lad it be seeing as I am empty how’s about I be bi’yun the next round...”
His arm raised to call forward the waitress he knew now was the time for merriment, there would be enough time tomorrow to sort out the magic’s that had been found, both new and old.

Topic: The Guiding Light Subject: A Question that needs an answer
Ta’Anor Listened as his cousin spoke of herself as a scout and was not that willing to agree, though what she said to convince them did ring true. The wait for her to return seemed like forever but then once more Ena was among them. As she drew a rough map in the ground before them she spoke her findings.
“My friends gather round so that I may share what I have learned, the pirate who left our new friend to be captured was not there, and they do not appear to be aware of us as a threat. Either the pirate who escaped has deserted them or was lost to the bog. Certainly, they do not appear alarmed by the missing patrol. All eight are up and active and no-one was at rest for a night watch. Either they do not post one, or they watch tired. This confident arrogance can work for us if we strike at night.
Vallendara and Varuna, “the bladesinger turned to them with a quizzical look,” I do not know what spells you may be able to use, but anything to confuse the pirates, slow them or even disable them would help to even the odds. Especially against crossbows. Bladesingers use no missile weapons, so I must close to fight. Tal faces the same challenge, all the more reason to strike at night and reduce the effectiveness of crossbows.”
“Make no mistake, my friends, these pirates will fight without honor, but I will. If any of them offer surrender, we must accept, but guard against treachery. I will not have us kill any who no longer offer resistance, so that they may face the justice of their own race, back in town. If they do not accept capture, however, “and here her expression turned stony with resolution,” they will have to face Kith-Jora’s justice. Thoughts? Questions? Ideas? Let us have them now. Vallendara suggested the lizard folk. If we decide to do so, we have time before evening to try to find one of them.”
Tal knew how he wanted to attack, straight down the murdering pirates throats, but like Ena had already stated his way of fighting would not do well against ranged fire. It was here then that Varuna raised his arm to speak, removing his floppy wide brimmed hat
"I have some ways that I can aid you in the battle, and I can heal you during combat if needed. But I can not kill any of them… for if I do…”
The rest was left unsaid for there was no real need to speak more of it, but Tal knew that though the cleric meant well in the reality of combat well meaning could kill you or the others with you.
“Varuna I understand your thoughts but I ask of you thus, if I or Ena or Val were to fall before you, hurt but not dead, and faced a pirates death stroke would you watch us die, or slay said pirate to protect us.
Would not your Goddess understand?”
Tal awaited the Clerics answer before more talk of how to attack the pirates continued.....

Topic: The Chakran Portal - an Adventure in Audalis Subject: Lost in Time
As this new ‘Bladesinger’ spoke of Goblins, Mountains and people in danger Malius was only listening with half his mind, the other half lost in memories of a happier time.
"Sylvaria is under attack, this plague of MAOUS, mutate animals of unusual size, and was caused by trees infected with some sort of poison that Goblins from the Chakran Mts. had brought with them to create this problem. In fact a whole troop of them plus one ogre had decimated an entire village not more than a few hours ride from Flame Tower."
“So my love how was the day, did your favorite once again besiege you with question after question.” The Sylvari Ranger spoke as Mira’ Élan entered their small home outside the walls of Megilindar Nost.
“Yes as normal, but she means no harm her mind is vast as her age is unusually young for one admitted to training, but she does show great skill nonetheless.” The beautiful Sylvari female returned as she deliberately and slowly undressed out of her armor knowing Malius loved to watch.
As she lay next to him Malius was happy, for together they would stay for long lifetimes.
"The one tree I dealt with was a great oak, its bark was darkened, its leaves were red and the acorns it shed were like tiny rotten melons. The Goblin I had gotten to lead me to the tree with me reacted violently when an acorn hit him on the head after making him walk to the tree at sword point. The ground under the tree was soggy. I believe that animals are infected by contact with the infected trees and then changed into these monsters that have been attacking the Sylvari. The infection has spread all the way down to the borders of the Southern and Middle kingdoms. That is where I first found a trio of Demon Owls who were attacking Com--Moon Shadow's mother."
Malius loved the forest at this time of day the sun rising up from below the horizon to grace the trees with its life giving light. The way it slowly shined through the cottage’s window and as if the light touch of a lover caressed Mira’ Élan’s sleeping face.
How he had been so lucky to be awarded this Bladesinger’s love, a teacher here at Megilindar Nost, only the god’s knew the truth of it. No more missions full of danger for her and for him, being under no ones command but his own; he was free to stay with her for as long as she wished him by her side. He was hers in mind, body and soul let no one say different he thought as he lay beside her and watched her sleep.
"I will tell you now that I was sent for Megilindar Nost to join you, but only until I got to the Chakran Mts. I had been given a side job, to check out the activity of the Goblins in the mountains. Well I found out what they were doing without even reaching the Northern Kingdom, they poisoning our trees in a prelude, I believe, to war. Beyond that I have come to believe that there is someone else behind what the goblins did to the trees, it is beyond goblin intelligence to dream up such a plan."
Malius waited for the return of his love anxiously knowing what he was about to do scared him to no end. He had faced Ogre’s, Trolls, Goblins and even a Dragon once, though not alone, but what he was about to do now could be more dangerous then anything faced by the Sylvari Ranger before. As Mira’ Élan approached he gathered what little courage he had left and met her halfway to their cottage door.
Before she could speak and before he lost his nerve he quickly went to one knee and took her hand in his.
“Mira’Elen, Bladesinger, Teacher, love of mine, will you be my life mate.”?
Her answer after a moment of shock left no doubt in anyone’s mind as she threw her arms around him and in a very unsylvari way kissed him full on the lips in front of all....
"I feel that there is an insidiously evil mind at work here. I also have come to believe that there could be an antidote for the tree plague where it was originated, somewhere in the Chakran Mts. That whoever wants to take over our lands would not want to continue to deal with the problems of their own making."
So far the mages and sages at Flame Tower have rediscovered a plant that can be used to reverse the plague, but it is a slow process to cultivate the Lotus of Light."
Not many words had been spoken by the party after Elessarae’s explanation of what was happening to the Sylvari Empire, Malius yet still lost in memories, when the innkeeper returned. His face was white, and he was trembling from head to toe. An awkward step later he had entered the inn, and stared at them with his mouth open. A long drip of red spittle fell from his lips onto the floor, followed by a long raspy gasp from his throat. He stretched a hand out to them, and fell face forward onto the wooden floor boards.
Malius brought back to the here and now by the sound of the body hitting the floor was able to catch a glimpse of something flashing by the open inn door, something green, scaly, with a long tail. As the others scrambled to move outside Malius too began to move.
“Podo, Codo scout from the rooftops” he asked of his two ferrets, his animal empathy relaying his request to them. Bow in hand and a new magical arrow notched, he himself headed to the Inn’s roof, from there he hoped he would be able to cover the town and get a fix on what danger the party once again faced.....
