Croaker listened as Spiff spoke up detailing his doubts about Croakers idea.

“So Spiff what your telling me is you’re a lousy liar, I thought that was a prerequisite to being a fixer.”
Pausing a moment Croaker took a deep breath and moved his hand through his hair.
“Ok so don’t lie, tell them the truth tell them everything you know about us, just leave out Peacekeeper and Firewind as only those two will be with you. Pass them off as your bodyguards you should be able through your contact inside to get them in at least armed with handguns. These Wild Things strike me as cocky and full of themselves, a pair of handgun armed bodyguards are not gonna faze them too much on their own turf. Tell them about one of their missing members, a guy with a Mohawk and that from what you know from your snitches he gave the Hole up to a media named Digitalscribe who passed it to us. I will give you his local and you can use that as a way to get them to send more of their number after him. As for Coyote well he will be covering your back as he, I and Bullseye will be the ones coming in to pull you out, or would you rather have him waiting in the van. Your call Mr. Fixer, Preacher or Coyote, makes no never mind to me."
Again Croaker paused.
"But let’s get a few things straight right up front. One, Spring Heeled Jack is bank rolling this and the main thing he said to me was to keep this whole Op as low key as possible.
Killing 4-5 bangers can be blown off as a rival gang type hit. Killing 10-20 bangers you’re talking all out gang war and the Cops and Media will be all over the story like stink on shit. So that’s why we need to get as many out as we can to make the numbers against us fewer in both having to fight our way in and the number of bodies left behind.
Two, If you ain’t got the balls to put our rude welcome of you behind you and trust us to do this right, tell me now, and then be on your way. There’s too much going on right now for us to worry about your cahoones. So in or out, again its your call."

Croaker as he seemed to be doing a lot tonight waited for Spiff’s reply.

(OOC: Ok I know I spelled the Spanish word for balls (Cahoones) wrong so if anyone knows the correct spelling please let me know in the Q/A section.
Thanks)

Subject: Ok so my plan sucked......Oh well

It was with a weird sense of satisfaction that Talas found that his danger sense, so far removed from the pits, was as active as ever. Though happy in that he was able to give warning before the actual attack, he just wished he had listened to it sooner.

Now they were surrounded by a number of big bugs with a foursome of boys in danger, and with only he and Arien yet mounted making a successful run for the Eastern trees or the cliff to the West was looking slim.

So the Ex-Gladiator did what he had always done best, he attacked!!!.

Kicking his heavy Warhorse “Magma” into a charge he attacked the Southern most Ankheg as this was the closet. Hoping that the size of Magma and his own large body would be able to bowl the creature over, Talas hoped for a shot at its belly as that was likely its weakest area.

Only time and his sword “Serenity” would tell if he survived.

(OOC: ok since my plan pretty much sucked I decided to keep it simple and stupid the army way. Lets hope we kick ass )

Subject: Ok Slightly confused

I have read the game posts so far and am slightly confused.
Raven in his post states that Arien charges yet Olan has not posted as such. And if he does charge which direction is he charging in??. My plan is simple really per Al's map I assume that the circles are boulders or rocks rt. Talas seems to be closet to the Angkeg to the east so using the combined size of he, himself and his extra large warhorse I say I bullrush the one to the East and open a hole for the rest of you to gain the trees with the kids. Yet Al tells me I am closer to the one to the south any thoughts my bold friends.

Thank you for that Al as with everything seemingly coming down on top of me right now and with no end in sight it helps to know that.
But I will post tonight or tommorrow for sure.

Actually on second thought I am going to wait till I see that map you spoke of as to where they all are, as I have an idea in mind but need to see postions first.

And so now it comes to pass

See them gather yet alas
They remain still as stained class

For they know only too well
That the story they will tell
Conjures up an ageless spell
Guarded by the Sentinal

So it goes forevermore
Ever steady to the core
That the sign that they came for
Waves Majestic from the floor.

OK there you have it, good luck and NAME THAT TUNE!!

As Croaker awaited any questions Firewind was the first to speak up. Turning to the medic Croaker listened as he spoke.

"Croaker, as I have told you I am a doctor not a gunslinger. I have reservations about administering drugs in the manner you describe. I have nothing better to offer."

"Ok understood, would you rather exchange places with Preacher, he goes in instead of you, while you wait for us in the van. The only thing with that is could you possibly show Preacher how to successfully inject Mery Deth with the knockout drug? I’d hate to accidentally kill her."

Croaker awaited Firewind's reply....

As Talas watched and listened while the others did the talking, he found the boys tales of bugs amusing, until the Red Corpie did actually ID them. For a moment Talas found himself impressed by that, but then the hairs on the back of his neck arose once again and instincts horned over his many years in the pits told him danger did yet lurk close by. Ignoring the continuing conversation he began twisting around in his saddle to scan the area around them to both sides and behind them. The feeling was still there as he interrupted the others speech.

"Arien, Kilgrim all is not right I feel that danger yet lurks close to us, be on your guard all."

With that Talas did place his hand on the hilt of his sword ready to draw if needed....

Subject: A Plan Told to all

As Croaker watched Spiff as he went looking for a pen he had his idea ready to go, but it would be up to all as to if it would be put into play. Turning to Spiff he caught the Fixers attention.

"Ok my plan idea is that we get you, Firewind and Peacekeeper indoors of the Hole somehow, with you having a contact inside that should be hopefully easy enough and you can play off Firewind and Peacekeeper as your bodyguards. Now once inside the hole while you talk to your Wild Thing contact, Peacekeeper does a quiet recon and a head count and finds out hopefully exactly what room Mery Deth is hanging out in. Now Spiff your job will be to give the rest of us up to the Wild Things in a manner of speaking. How and what you tell them to get more of them out of the building is up to you. Maybe you can somehow also tell them to be on the lookout for a Media with a camera and possibly two bodyguards as I can give you Digitalscribe’s description. Be a nice extra if we can take him out of play for the moment, cause knowing him as I do he can’t be too far behind us."

Turning to look at the rest of the people in the van he continued.

"Now Firewind your role in this is very important for as a Medic I'm hoping you may know how to whip up something to knock Mery Deth out cold to make her easier to transport. Once Spiff has hopefully used his skills at persuasion to have gotten a lot of the Wild Things out hunting for us somewhere other then where we really are. BullsEye, and myself use the Silenced SMG’s from the cops and Coyote using Preacher’s Silenced SMG move into the building and extract you guys and Mery Deth. While we are doing this Spiff and Peacekeeper take out any guards around her and Firewind drugs her so that once we get there we throw her over a shoulder and head out of the building. With Preacher just around the corner in the van with the engine running waiting for us to make it out, once we are all hopefully safe in the van with Mery Deth off we go.
So any questions."

As Croaker awaited any such, he also hoped for some good input from the others as to maybe refine the plan so that it would work better. The whole plan from start to finish was risky but with the clock ticking time was against them....

Subject: Talas moves forward

Talas sat quietly on his massive warhorse as 1st a young boy then a few moments later 3 other boys varying in ages burst from out of the tree’s. Upon seeing them Talas was happy to see that just as he had thought and spoken of these “bandits” were really no threat to anyone other then themselves. With the canceling of the invisibility spell he spurred his mount forward and arrived to hear part of Arien’s words to the 4 boys.

"Boys, do you have any idea how much trouble you are in? You thought to rob my friend and me, the two of us would have been more than your match, and you never saw our other five friends. If we were other travelers, the crows would be picking your bones now... and if Freegate's patrols caught you, they would hang you for banditry."
"Now, what's this about your father? I can see you boys are not real criminals. What has brought you to this point?"

As the Ex-Gladaitor watched the proceedings he had already decided to help the 4 boys by giving them enough money to enter Freegate’s walls and perhaps purchase at least a meal for each of them. If it took all the money he had he woulkd freely part with it.

What better way to start a new adventure then to help ones in need as he himself had once been, perhaps the gods would notice this act of kindness and grant upon the party a blessing of good luck. He quietly hoped the others would perhaps also pitch in but that was their choice eithier way he would help as much he could.....

BACKPOST BEFORE AL'S

The trip from the walls of Freegate had so far been an easy one Talas had found himself actually enjoying his conversation with small mage Jal, the two of them did seem to have a lot in common as far as their background and shared experiences went. It was not unlikely that a friendship between the two of them could be possible. As the day went on Talas found himself having to wait for Jal as the mage did stop and seemingly once again speak to open air. Then as if nothing had happened Jal moved forward into line once more. It was here as the two of them did catch up to the rest that they heard Arien talking

"Best be on our guard, Can any of you, by sharp eye, or, mayhap, spell, see any cause for his fear?"

Then as if all knowing Jal did speak up causing Talas to look his way.

"I believe, Sir Thedell, Four men, armed with swords, other than that, I’m afraid, I can tell you very little…”

Even more strange to the Ex-Gladiator was when Jal did once again turn and talk to seemingly no one but the air around him.

"Yes, sir," the spellbinder murmured… there was a slight tinge of impatience in his voice as he addressed the empty air to his right side, "I said I would do what I could… Now, please, quiet for a moment"

With the Ranger Char’s return and his report confirming Jal’s statement Talas began to really wonder at the small Mages sanity. How was it that he knew of what the Ranger had found before the Ranger had told them, had he unknowingly to all, cast a spell of precognation.? This was running through Talas’s mind as he listened as Jal, Char and the others debated of how to deal with the so called “4 Bandits”. After a few moments Talas himself spoke up.

"No harm should come to them by us if what Char and Jal report is true as I belive it is, for that would be wrong. Instead let us gather them before us and I will gladly give them enough money to enter the gates of Freegate as hopefully they will find a better life there. If afterwards they still decide to rob then it is upon their heads, not ours and the gods shall judge them true."

(OOC:Sorry AL ya beat me by a few minutes I hope my late post does not mess up anything you had planned)

Talas could not help but feel that somehow he must have gotten off on the wrong foot with the others as he was riding next to Jal and wondered why he somehow sensed that the Knight in particular seemed to dislike him. It was true he had very little skill in social settings and was at times truthfully blunt to the point of irratation, yet was it so bad to always be honest, the big man did not think so. In the end it did not really matter the the other party members would come to respect Talas or they would not, so be it.
Turning to the small Mage Talas did once again turn his attention to him as Jal answered the question posed.

"Just a bit of conversation to pass the time, I suppose," the mage answered at last, "If we are to travel together it would be wise to know more about one another before those things that we can actually do for one another become necessary, yes?. These others," the spellbinder gestured to the loose column of adventurers ahead of them, "seem already to know one another and Valentine, our once Red friend, there, seems to have an already sour opinion of me. As you and I are the apparent outsiders, as it were..."

"Very true Jal so I formally greet you I am Talas Mohr’Jeral ex-Gladiator and now mercenary. As you say it would appear I too am already disliked by one of our party as you say the 2 of us being outsiders to the others, all but the Red corpie and he and I will not be friends anytime soon."

Jal shrugged then, his pale eyes drifted from the trail to the large man riding beside him; "Tell me of yourself, Talas," he continued softly, "What has brought you to Freegate… to this?"

With a small laugh The big man did reply
"You ask what has brought me here that is very simple, Freedom, The freedom from my cage, the freedom from the Empire, the freedom from the Pits. The freedom of the chance to live for me and not for the entertainment of others. From the age of 15 till just 5 years ago I was a slave but now I am a free man once again. So here I have in my travels come to seek that which all man seek eventually a peaceful life. And you good Jal why are you here in this city?"

As he awaited the mages reply Talas watched his surroundings as not to be caught unawares. For even while yet in the shadow of Freegate, danger did surely lurk everywhere.....

DING DING DING!! Yes Fantasy you are correct the verse is from the song "Spreading The Disease" by one of my favorite bands Queensryche. It comes off of thier 1988 concept album "Operation Mindcrime" which is my favorite album of any band up to this point.

The Band just this year in Jan finally released the long awaited sequel "Operation Mindcrime 2" and went on tour by themselves doing both Albums along with an eleborate stage show with actors and guest singers including Ronnie James Dio all based on the story telling songs.

I was lucky to see this sold out show here in San Antonio Texas and it was awesome. They are returning in Nov to Austin and I already have another ticket.

With my song figured out I guess we only have one more song to figure out before we continue.....

One song was already revealed as to be Rush's "Roll the Bones" and it was the one posted by Alacrity.

So these three are yet still to be solved.

Lyskhala's song:
They say that legends are born not made,
heroes are those who don't expect pay
shadows are carved of contrasting light
one man's wrong is another man's right

Tann'Talas' song:
Religion and Sex are power plays Manipulate the people for the money they pay selling skin, selling God the numbers look the same on their credit cards
Politicians say no to drugs while we pay for wars in South America.
Fighting fire with empty words, while the banks get fat, the poor stay poor and the rich get rich, and the cops get paid to look away as the one percent rules America...

Fantasy's song:
So they sat down and made a drawing of their love, an art to live by.
They painted every passion, every home, created every beautiful child.
In the winter they were weavers of warmth, in summer they were carpenters of love.
They thought blue prints were too sad, so they made them yellow.
'Cause they were painters and they were painting themselves...A lovely world.

And though I think I recognize the words to Lyskhala's song I just cannot place it as for Fantasy's on that one I am totally lost

As Talas took his place at the columns rear he was more then a little surprised to find himself addressed by the weird little mage Jal.
"Good morning, Talas Mohar’Jerale"
The mage had said softly, as he had turned his pale eyes onto Talas as the big warrior came up along side him.
"And good morning to you Jal, it is Jal right? Jal Spellbender, if I remember correctly. What can I do for you this morning?"

For the small mage to have talked to him was one thing but clearly it seemed he planned to ride next to Talas for a time if not the first days ride. Though Talas was one of few words it could not hurt the big warrior to try and hold a conversation for once without trying to kill the person he was talking to as had happened so many times in the games.
Talas had heard someplace in his youth that trying new things was a good thing at times and here was such a chance. So awaiting the small Mages next words he kept he larger horse in pace with Jal’s smaller.

His backpack and what little gear he had strapped to the horse and with Serenity across his back and his shield within easy reach, the ex-Gladiator was ready to begin the day’s journey.

Croaker was glad that for the moment the tenseness of a possible lethal situation was over. Though he still did not trust the fixer and his gangbanger bodyguard for the moment they all would have to work together as a team if they wanted to retrieve Mery Deth by the deadline.

"So Spiff what your saying is that our target is in realty in the very building where we thought she was. Ok well at least we know where she is at so time to plan. Anybody got any suggestions as to how we play this."

Though Croaker had an idea for a plan already somewhat in mind he wanted to hear everyone out in case a better one was to be had. With the numbers against them and their orders to get the girl back quietly any suggestions as to how to do this was fair to ask for. In the end if they could not recover the girl by the deadline this run would be a bust.
