In a completely unexpected gesture, Casino offered Ghalan the use of his grenade launcher for the rescue attempt.

"I know you are torn about not being able to go after Vegas yourself. Hopefully we won't need firepower to spring him but it never hurts to be prepared. Don't worry, I return this to you along with Vegas."

Smiling back at the big Cee-Metal, Casino laid the SMG in the cyborgs hand and it's weapon bag at his feet.

“I’ll hold you to that. Ok quick rundown, as you can see each side of the stock holds two extra 30 round clips for a total of four and with the one loaded gives you a total of 150 Armor piercing rounds." Reaching into the bag Casino then pulls out an adjustable waist belt holding eight launcher sized grenades.

"Ok on the belt you have eight grenades. 2 High Explosive, 2 Fragmenation, 2 Concussion and 2 Smoke, colored red, blue, black,  and white. I just hope however you don't need to use any of them, but if you need to, don't hesitate. Bring Vegas back to us, even if you have to use eveyone of them.

A hand to the Cee-Metal's shoulder, Casino he moved away. Using the newly hacked agent, the solo quickly formed a shopping list and then looks around for Cred Stick Charlie. Seeing the fixer and catching his eye, Casino gives him a nod asking if the solo can join him.

(OOC: Assuming Charlie acknowledges Casino’s request.)

Casino moved over to the counter and took a seat upon one of the red stools near his host.

“Charlie, I need your help. What do you think the possibility is of getting these items before we head out on our separate tasks?”

The solo quickly shows Charlie the list on his absconded agent's ultra HD screen.

“Seeing as how we are in a Edgerunner enclave and it’s also your home I’m guessing you know it by heart. Can you get me these things, priority on the five chips, before I have to head out? Also as things stand right now, transportation wise, I was thinking on catching a cab, but that will hinder me being able to rejoin the rest of the team before coming back here to change from suit to armor. Any suggestions?........

Though not one to ever say much Steel felt with the dropping of the sun they should find shelter as it looked like they would not be able to return to town before nightfall.

“So I say we go to buildings for you all to rest up. I stand guard. What say you all?”

For a moment quiet the Soledad nodded her head and the group moved towards the old buildings. With Silver and the Hornet in front they made good time reaching the first of the buildings with the last rays of the sun.

“So which house you want to rest?”

The shower had been much needed, Charlie or the barrow had very good water softening salt. Though it could have been more fun with Echo. Echo!, Casino once again had to pause as the warm water ran over him. Echo 18 and only known for four days, Jesus Christ four fucking days, since we met. What the fuck is wrong with you Casino, losing your heart to a young girl. Grrr. Yet the big solo had been asking himself this same damn question over and over again without an answer the last three days. Then he was out, dried off, and tired as hell needing a nap…..

A few short hours later Echo had woken him up and he had joined the rest of the group for a nice portion of Chinese Take Out, his favorite sesame chicken with fried rice and lo-mien noodles courtesy of Blossom when Charlie arrives with Hui Yin.

"I have big news, I hope everyone slept well and is rested. Who wants to go get Vegas... right now, as in right now, yeah. I got a voice message he needs someone to pick him up immediately. I'm going to suggest Casino either go now or close the window of opportunity, Take the rental van but don't return directly here. Just in case you are followed. Contact blossom and I will get you a safe route back" Charlie explains.

The plate of sesame chicken, soy sauce, duck sauce, and fried rice falling partially onto his lap but most of it onto the floor in Casino’s shocked reaction as he shot to his feet quickly.

“What the fuck Charlie, is this a joke?”

After a quick look at the text message from Vegas on Charlie’s agent and Casino knows it’s no joke. Holy shit what now, meeting with Yakuza or going to rescue his partner. Fuck fuck fuck.

“Ok here’s my plan I can’t afford to blow off the Yakuza, that be bad for all of us, I’d look weak in their eyes and by association to me the rest of you would also look weak. So Blossom, myself and Fixer head to meet the Yakuza and see what they have to say and go from there. Ghlahn, Echo, after I talk to Vegas and make sure its him and get a location of where he is at, gear up, take the van and retrieve him. Bloodbank go with them in case Vegas needs healing or if its a trap. If it is a trap pull back and wait for the rest of us to join you after the meet and we will play it by ear until we know more. Any questions?”

“Sorry Casino I’m out” This suddenly from Bloodbank, “I don’t believe I’m a good fit with the team. I got nothing personally against any of you, despite the recent blowout at the restaurant on the docks. I just don’t feel the path that the you guys as a team are taking is the right one and I think you’ll be better off without me” After a futile attempt to get him to stay, it’s clear he is staunchly determined, and after a quick series of goodbyes, unlike Blossom, within twenty-minutes of Charlie’s return, the medtech is gone.

With Bloodbank’s loss, so too is Casino’s initial plan and sets the others in the team to more concerned chatter. Casino once again on the edge, his few hours of sleep for nothing, his plan out the window, the team medic gone, and no way to treat Vegas if he is wounded and in desperate need of it. Then as if seeing through his stone face, Blossom speaks up

“No fear, I may have a potential solution let me drop them a note”

A deep breath later and Echo’s hand on his shoulder, the big solo has calmed down. The discussion continues with everyone moving past the departure of their field medic support role and focusing back again on the situation with their immediate schedule and responsibilities. Charlie pays attention with one ear while working his agent and trying to get some of his business taken care of. The team is becoming used to this and recognizes his ability to multitask.

The question of whether this message from Vegas is actually a trap is eventually handed over to Casino to resolve. After some discussion, everyone agrees that Casino can use the Yakuza agent that the call came through on and reach back out to Vegas through the number that was used to contact Charlie. He’ll ask Vegas a couple of questions that only the Crooner would have the answers to and that would be vague enough that it isn’t likely to have come up in any interrogations. Because no one but the Yakuza knows that Casino has this agent, and the agent that Vegas was using is unknown, if Casino keeps the call short, the security of their location should be maintained. This being the first step to ironing out their priorities, Casino gets to it.

More talk among the group as to some type of new plan. Who goes to retrieve Vegas, who goes to the meet with Casino, idea’s were put forth and rejected, then Charlie put forth the thought that Casino should go alone. Charlie, his experience with the Underworld quite good. Had the Fixer thinking that it would be rude for Casino to show up to the Yakuza meet with more than one “bodyguard” and that in truth it would likely be a complete loss of Face for Casino to show up with anyone at all, seeing how he supposedly single-handedly stopped a whole team from assassinating Mr. Akagi. Having lived since his teens in an Edgerunning society Casino was no stranger to the ways and codes of such organizations like the Mafia and the Yakuza knowing of the codes of honor that meant so much to them and the big solo had to admit Charlie was right. Plus on the positive that would leave the whole rest of the group to get Vegas out.

Blossom and Fixer having hacked the Yakuza agent, Casino sends a text message to the number used by Vegas to reach out to Charlie.

“Vegas, this is Casino. I’m going to call you from this number. Are you in a place where you can talk?

Yes.

The call is made and the conversation begins with the qualifying questions.

“What’s Irene Frank's best feature?”

“Her legs,”

“Why did you and her break up?”

“She was transferred to the Africa division of the Dego Grain Coalition,”

Casino holds in his excitement and gives his team a nod indicating that this is in fact Vegas.

“Where are you, buddy?”

“I believe I’m in Temecula Heights,”Vegas replies, tension in his voice.“From what I can tell, it’s a Daltdom corpo community. The kicker is that I think I was being held by a sec team working for this company so I’m not so sure it’s going to be an easy extraction.”

“Who’s agent are you using?” Casino digs a little deeper. “Maybe they can help get you through the gate?”

“I’m afraid not,” Vegas grimly reports.“She’s dead. Not my doing. Looks like she had some dealings that went south. Nice girl too. Took me in knowing I was being hunted and let me rest up. I couldn’t do anything to save her. But, we might be able to exact some justice at the same time as getting paid.

“First, I gotta get out of here.”

“Stay frosty Brother help is on the way” Casino replies. “We’ll do a little research and get back with you, ASAP. Guard that agent with your life, it may be the one thing that saves it.”

Once again, more strategy discussion. Five minutes into the planning, Charlie receives a message from a long time friend named Cipher. She needs to get to work, needs something to occupy herself with. Does he have anything? He presents the deal that he offered everyone else and she jumps on it. Normally, Cipher needs to have a promise of ready payment to perform but she is eager to join up so Charlie knows that something big is behind her willingness. With Blossom’s medtech friend on board the rescue group had been jacked up to six, seven if Charlie became involved on site.

Looking over the party Casino's gaze fell on Ghlahn. Though the solo could not be part of the rescue attempt, maybe a part of him could. Grabbing his MPK M-11/205 Grenade Launcher he held it out to the Cee-Metal cyborg

“Can you use it, could maybe come in handy?…………..

(If Ghalhn does not accept for whatever reason, Casino will leave it at Charlie’s apt. I’m only going armed with my .44’s and my spawnblade as the suit is weaved to hide them, though without a doubt I will be searched and they possibly taken from him. Going to wait on a few answers to questions asked in PM to Brom before I post part 2)

It's 3:20pm at this time which leaves a 3 1/2 hour window to pick him up before I'm to meet with the Yakuza at 7:00pm. As there is no telling what could happen during the pick up, I can't afford to go get him personally without the possibility of something delaying me getting to the Yakuza meet and that just can't happen. As I need to use the apt's stove and a large knife to iron my suit Casino just does not have the time to do it unless Brom changes something with his next post. So I'm sending two teams.

First team will consist of Myself, Blossom and Fixer. Blossom because she's a hacker and comp geek and if the Yakuza give me a cash payout or some kind of contract or net based Giri, she can quickly download it and protect it. Fixer is quite handy with a gun and has the look of a bodyguard so hopefully he will be taken as such. Also seeing as we will need 2 vehicles, I’m hoping Charlie will allow us to use the team truck now that it runs. If for some reason it breaks down Fixer will be there fix it. As for fancy clothing, I’m not sure if they both have any, but again I’m hoping Charlie’s skill as a fixer can get some for them.

Second team to pick-up Vegas will consist of Ghlahn, Echo and Bloodbank. Ghlahn and Echo because they are the parties fighters and should be able to handle the pick-up if its a trap. Bloodbank of course to back them up if healing is needed or if Vegas needs on the spot healing. They will take the van which is more roomy. Once a good distance from Charlie's apt they will call Vegas on his agent and hopefully gain his location.

If they are able to pick him up with no problems the group will pick a place to meet away from Charlie’s Chinese barrow after Casino’s meet with the Yakuza so he can make sure its really him. If it is really him at this point Blossom will contact Charlie using, I would assume an anti-tracker program, and the team will return to the apt or hold up at another location until Charlie feels it is safe for us to return.

Now if not for the Yakuza meeting its a goddamn sure bet Casino would be part of the pick-up. However as much emotionally Casino is involved in this, if you look at both of their life path's you’ll see Vegas and Casino have been friends since their teens and that is the reason for my RP to this point. However the big Solo is still a pro and knows how important this meet is for not just himself, but for the future of the whole group, and he trust’s Ghlahn, Echo, and Bloodbank to get him back.

This also allows each team to have 2 player characters and 2 NPC's with-in it so that everyone is involved in the RP

Any Q/A questions or upgrades to my plan? If nothing changes the above, I will include my plan in my next post.

Espatier, ok I see the problem, up till your last post you were not following Brom's timeline and that's what confused me, my apologies. However by your last post the way you seemed to word it, to me, sounded as if you and Blossom, if we go to get Vegas, were not going. Is that correct?

Also thanks CTP for sorta pointing me in the right direction, if not for commenting about taking a closer look, I would never have seen the timeline errors.  

Brom should I wait on an update from you to answer Espatiers reveal, or can I go ahead and post one from Casino?

Mr. Charile comes into the classroom, bows and apologies for his “western” behavior, and asks for the class forgiveness.

“I am Mr. Charlie, I will be your teacher for English and basic studies in English to get you were your young minds wish to be. We will be covering all subjects: American History, American English and Slang ( he flashes an infectious smile to the students), math, science, and many other subjects as well. Now is everyone logged into my agent’s virtual classroom?. You all have had plenty of time for the first few chapters, yes?. GOOD... pop quiz. let’s see what you students know or not know first. Begin! You will have 17 minutes to answer the questions”.

 Time passes, messages buzz in, Charlie sends to VMail, continues the farm the young minds and answer questions, those that he has trouble understanding, Hui Yin, explains and translates so the Mr. Charile can answer the students. 

As promised... more students filter in for a total of 20. Mr. Charile smiles and asks them to sit, makes a few login accounts and passwords, assigned reading, and other tasks. 

With class finally over, Mr. Charlie and Ms. Yin return to his apartment. Ms. Yin and charlie speak about class for a bit, then charlie Shows her out and bids her goodbye, for now, so that he can speak more freely. 

“Do I miss anything while I was away?” Charlie asks the room

Ahhh that to me sounds like you went, teached, and returned, and should be caught up with the rest of us time wise. Espatier if I may I ask a question, how do you measure the passing of time game wise?

I would'nt worry about that Dragon-Soul, I'm pretty certain Brom already has it figured out how he will intro you into the game.

So what are we waiting on, Espatier to post about the call, or an update from you Brom?

With the search for the two boys having come up empty so far, the party regrouped and under Soledad’s leadership headed back to town. As the food eaters needed to eat Steel sat quietly watching the crowd seated around them to see if perhaps they had become the object of greater scrutiny. (Using my passive perception ability 12)

Though he could not feel emotion as those made of flesh he could still empathize with their feelings having been around them for so long and knew the failure to find the boys had saddened the town’s folk. For now all the group could do was check out the place of the caravan attack tomorrow. As Dok and Ewyn asked questions and the rest did as needed, Steel slowly fell into his sentry’s rest...

I'm sorry if this seems to be metagaming, its not. I just wanted to let you, the players, know out of game, how Casino is thinking to avoid more drama. Thats it, nothing more, and really if Charlie waits to tell him then depending on his explanation for why he did so, could easily defuse any such blow-up. I will role play Casino as not knowing about the call up to the point where Charlie tells him about it and not use player knowledge.

Seeing as how the whole point of the meeting, at least for Casino at this time, is gaining the Yakuza's aid in recovering Vegas, then yes telling him before the meet is important. I'd rather not role play Casino going to the meet, gaining the Yakuza's aid only to find out that I did not need to bring that topic up and as such look like a fool.

Also even if there is no need to gain help for Vegas would Casino blow off the meet with the Yakuza? Hell no. I'd also like to be able to get work from other sources then just Starlight, and the Yakuza are such an option. Plus gaining a favor or Giri from them is too good to pass up.

Well I'm sorry you both feel that way, it was not intended to be an excuse for more drama. However I'm not going to stop role playing Casino as I have up to this point over night. Its going to depend on how Charlie and Casino start to work together and how they gain respect for each others skills. If you have yet to read my post, please do so. It clearly shows once again that Casino is starting to respect Charlie and is coming to realize the fixer knows his stuff. I posted in the Q/A as I did to avoid more drama as I do not know what is in Espatiers mind as how he plans to post, but I wanted to let him know what was in mine..

Why wouldn't you be one of the ones not going after Vegas?.  Primarily timing I would think if it would interfere with the Yakuza meet. I did state that we could pick-up Vegas after the meeting if there was not a live or die time table constraint.

Ok here’s how it will play out, at least as I see it for Casino.

First, shower, Second, good nap, after which hopefully Charlie will tell us about Vegas’s call.

At that point deciding who goes with me and if Charlie goes after Vegas who goes with him, or if we all go as a group after my meet.

Though its gonna piss Casino off not to be one of the ones going after Vegas, he will understand that only he can meet the Yakuza. The only problem I can see coming up between Casino and Charlie is if he does not tell Casino that Vegas called. If I go to this meet and I get back and learn that Charlie knew before I left that Vegas called, then yeah, not good.

“Head downtown. Then make your way to Japantown. From that point, I'll guide you when we get closer. Okay people, it's a small place that we are going to share but it's all that I got... for now. Rules are simple, so I ask that everyone abide by them or sleep outside. Like I have said before we need to really start working together or die alone... that is the reality of it. So, without direction, I feel—and this is only a feeling—that we can't succeed as a group. So... anyone interested in taking the helm of this group besides myself?" The fixer turns about in his seat to receive the quiet gazes of the team. "I feel—and once again this is just my own personal feelings—that I could provide an excellent conduit for this group. I can ensure that everyone gets paid because no one works for free and I understand this. But... Casino needs everyone's help and I'm willing to give it a shot. We don't know if Vegas is alive. I don't think anyone knows until we look more closely, agreed?"

Without really saying anything Casino nodded his head in agreement with Charlie, desiring to just stay quiet and try to relax. The big solo was tired that was easy to see by everyone and his state of exhaustion could be the under laying reason for his lack of pro behavior since Vegas was taken. Closing his eyes he kept them closed until he heard Charlie arguing with someone in Chinese over his agent.

Finally as quick as it had started the words were over and Charlie had managed to land the team a roof over their heads in a quiet community for the time being. Giving Echo directions to his place she continues to move the van until she finds herself stopped at an entrance to a chinese barrow. Again in only a few moments of conversation on his agent and Charlie has them cleared to proceed.

Casino had to admit, though he’d more or less never say it out loud, that Charlie did know his way around people and did seem sincere in wanting to help them as a team and Casino had no reason to argue about any of it. Van parked in underground parking, the way up to the apartment Casino, could easily see was filled with wary Chinese. With the looks given the party as though they were plague ridden, Casino knew this place would not be the groups perm HQ.

Then they are at and inside Charlie’s apartment and Casino finds himself seated next to Echo, her head on his shoulder, her holding him up then he her. As had the rest of the Chinese to this point, Charlie’s intro’d assistant, Hui Yin was like the rest very disapproving and unhappy and all the big solo could think was a very nasty adverb in Chinese, that he would not bring forth. They were on Charlie’s terf and there was no need to start a war in the middle of it.

Finally relaxed, his armored duster off, grenade launcher leaning on the side of the coach, both pistols still in their holsters laying on the table before it and at the urging of Echo he lays back head resting on a pillow across Echo’s lap and goes to sleep. Only to be woken a few minutes later by the sound of an agent going off from inside his duster. Fumbling the device free from the silky lining, Casino stares at the agent in disbelief. It is one of the agents he took off of the dead bodyguards for Mr. Thomas Akagi and someone with the moniker of Boss is calling.

“Well,” Blossom rolls the lollipop around in her mouth. “Answer it, Choombatta.”

The conversation is brief. Very brief. “Hello?”

"Who is this?”

“The guy who saved Mr. Akagi’s life at the hospital. Who is this?”

Hushed indiscernible whispers on the other end followed by:

“This is Vin Akagi. If what you say is true, I’d like to meet with you to thank you in person for the gift of my father’s life. I’ll send that agent the location and time.”

Then the line goes dead………………

For the moment Casino just sits there looking at the phone lost in surprise. Though it had been a long shot the agent owners calling him it had not been impossible. Casino had thought to use Blossom’s hacker skills to gain access and find out more about Thomas Akagi and then perhaps contact them first, not to be the one contacted first.

“So... don’t keep us all in suspense?... who was it an what did they say?” Queried Charlie to Casino.

“Seems it was Akagi’s son, Vin Akagi, he wants to meet today, said he’d send a time and place in a few moments”

Just as promised the agent still in Casino’s hand received a message detailing a meet location and time. 19:00 hours, tonight at the The Eastern Courtyard, High City, Night City Integrate. A little research reveals The Eastern Courtyard to be a very high-end. Japanese restaurant with a strict dress code and—according to the theories Blossom is able to dig up—a Yakuza front. A brief exchange of messages allows Casino to bring two others with him. Their names will be on the guest list at the door. Placing the agent back in his duster he turns to the others.

At Charlie's suggestion of threads Casino moves to his duffle bag. Quickly rummaging around he pulls out his black Takanaka Arachni suit in high condition though needing to be ironed out.

“I have no idea whose with me tonight, all I know is I need a shower and someone to iron out my suit Charlie”

With Charlie off to his other duties, Casino’s suit taken off to be ironed, the big solo heads to the shower. Passing by Echo he gives her a look to join him if she wants……..

Ok for me to pick who goes with me to meet with the Yakuza two things have to happen. First I guess is who the party wants to lead, or do they want a co-leadership.

Keeper feels Casino is too close to the whole thing so thats 1 vote for Charlie, I assume solo. So we need the rest of the group to decide who it needs to be.

Second thing that I feel needs to happen is Charlie revealing he got a phone call from Vegas as that will also make a differance in who Casino drags with him and how he handles the meet. lol

Ayrn's marching order is ok with me and as a group the majority voted Nimu as party leader before we even started the game. But however you and Nimu wish to work it its all good.

Not needing to eat or really sleep, Steel did as he always did, and stood, well seated, guard. As the rest of the party made their way into the upper levels of the inn and their rented rooms, the warforged fighter took up his spot at the bottom of the stairs, closed his eyes and slipped into his ability of Sentry’s Rest.

Then the sun was up and so too the party and over the course of breakfast it was decided to look for the missing boys…. Which quickly became harder then any of the group had thought it would be. Even Steel was surprised that Silver found no true trace of the two boys as he knew her to be quite a seasoned tracker. Though the big warforged was good in a fight, even he had to admit he was better then most, his ability to track was non-existent so he fell back allowing Hornet to assist her. However it again became quickly evident that even between both Rogues any remaining traces were gone. He along with the rest of the group listened as Silver gave Soledad her report.

“Sorry, Sole nothing at all to push us forward. If the Goblins did indeed take them they carried them and even with the boys, they themselves were light on weight. What next? Camp or return to town?”
