“Ghlahn, update?”

Casino listened as Ghlahn’s voice came back through the talkies mic

"Looks like slim picking for overwatch. A locked scanner door is blocking the best access. Gonna have to settle for a street-level window and hope traffic isn' too heavy. Should be in place in 5 minutes. Two people are doing a pretty good job of "hanging out" indiscreetly as homeless people. One is sitting on the ground, the other is leaning against the building, both african-american, probably female. Can't get a real good look. Something just doesn't seem right about them. Don't think they are homeless but want people to think they are."

“Copy that. Five minutes, if your two 'homeless' draw weapons and move toward us, take them out"

Topic: What is your favorite weapon for a fantasy game
Subject: Thats easy

A 100kg Nuclear warhead, Its the only way to be sure.

Actually to answer the question more serious, that really depends on the type of fantasy game. In the text of D&D I like a duel weapon combo of two light martial weapons like shortswords, scimitars or a light sword, dagger combo.

Subject: As promised

Moving to the door opposite the hatch Pops found it closed and the emergency inner doors were closed as well. Pops pulled out his scanner and repeated the process he used on the outer hatch. Looking from the Doc to Wolf,

"Ok bullet get yourself over here, likely we'll be need'n them big strong arms of yours over here to get these doors open."

“Ok Popsicle hold your on to your diminished gentiles” I replied to him as I moved to help him, joined by Wyatt we watched as the old man punched in the codes to the door. Without any suspense the heavy decompression door slid silently back into a safe position and the main doors opened. More flecks of paint danced in the light of headlamps.

Before the group a corridor filled with space frost and more floating flecks, three doors to other rooms and a circular lift that was clearly closed. Wolf could see that door to his immediate left looked dented, as if something big and heavy had hit it from the other side.

"That can't be good," Wyatt points to the bulging door. "Coulda been explosives, maybe?"

“Or explosive decompression, we saw evidence of that possibility in the cargo hold,” Wolf spoke up.
as he scanned the area the crew now found themselves in.

Walking confidently further into the corridor, Wyatt turns back to his team, "All right, people. You know the drill. Get the back-up power on if ya can. We'll track down the life sign. Be careful. I know we're on the clock, so to speak, but nothin's worth yer lives."

"Well unless you all have powered scanners it's going to be a bit difficult to to get through them doors without power. So whatd'ya want to do first? I could open these doors for y'all to search the rooms or you can stand in the dark whilst Wolf and I go up a deck and see if we can get that backup running. Might be safer to check that while you're still suited up in case there's sumpthin funny in there... Once we're up a deck Wolf and I'll let you know when we're about to throw the switch so you can be ready for it. Hate to have ya caught unawares if a bunch of bells and alarms start blaring. ...Doc, looks like the medical room is up there too, so you might want to check it out whilst Bul.. ah..Wolf puts his smarts to work cranking over that backup. By the way Wolf, you by chance bring a reader with you that you get a copy of them deck layouts from Alex?"

Fenris could not help but smile to himself as Pop went back to calling him Wolf instead of Alaxis’s nickname of Bullet. Coming from her was ok but from Pops for some reason not so much.

"What happens to all these paint flakes if you get life support back on?  Will they get sucked into the air system and ruin it? Just drop to the floor and cover everything with a thin coat of paint?  Would that damage anything we need?  Or our suits?  Is there anything we need to cover before heating this place up?"  This from Alex.

Peering at the schematics again, Wyatt points to the backup generators on Deck 1. "That's on our way t' the life sign, so we'll all head there t'gether." Looking towards Wolf, the captain reiterates Alex's questions, "Any concern 'bout this paint?"

“Honestly not sure Cap’n, could be paint, could be explosive residue, could be left over paper scrapes. I’d advise even after we re-compress her we keep our suits on.”

"I don' want t' spend a bunch o' time opening doors when our primary concern was the life sign," Sung returns to the mission. "We can address the rest o' the ship once we know what's what with what caught our attention t' begin with. 'Sides, I would like t' see the ship's logs 'fore we go opening potential hazards. So, no more opening doors but fer the rooms we absolutely need t' get into. Let's get them generators up, then get int' that room," Wyatt points to the room near the head on Deck 1, "then engineering an' the bridge. Unless somethin' comes up t' change the plan."

“Pops, Fox, your with me lets get to engineering”  Looking to Wyatt as he moved out he gave the Captain an old Browncoat sign of good luck. A wink to Alexis and the three of them were on their way…...

Hand on the grip of his SMG, thumb close to the safety, Casino hopes that Vegas does not suffer from the delay concluding this gig is causing. After a few moments to let everyone get set, Echo takes charge, surprising the muscular solo.

“Let’s go,” Echo orders quietly, already beginning to make her way towards the alley.

“Anyone want to check and see if Ghlahn is in position?”

Bloodbank asks, grateful that he doesn’t have the walkie and still feeling guilty about his previous faux pas.

“Ghlahn, update?”

Casino listened as Ghlahn’s voice came back through the talkies mic

"Looks like slim picking for overwatch. A locked scanner door is blocking the best access. Gonna have to settle for a street-level window and hope traffic isn' too heavy. Should be in place in 5 minutes."

“Copy that. Five minutes,”

Casino answered the groups overwatching sniper. Moving to rejoin the rest of the group he easily took up postion at the back allowing Echo to lead. A loud whisper from Bloodbank as a question was asked.

“Is this a grab and get out situation?”

“I say we see what’s what and if the package is there,” the nomad woman pauses and scans what lies ahead, “we take him and get the hell outta here.”

Raising his eyebrows behind his combat mask, the medtech is surprised by her statement. She’s been calm for the most part, and more interested in doing things using diplomacy up until now. He suspects the whole situation with Casino and maybe even a little of what has happened to Vegas is to blame.

“I know we’re on a clock, but there might be an opportunity to talk our way into a better position. I say we ‘sess the situation with an eye towards not spilling blood.”

Casino looked over to the medtech.

“Not to inflame the situation more then I have already but so far ‘peace talks’ have gotten us nowhere, I say if the kids in here, we shake and bake the bad guys and get the kid the F**k home.”

Without another word Casino followed Echo further into the ally the roughly drawn canine skull of the Dead Dogs painted on walls. The heavy stink of odorous ammonia hits the groups nostrils practically the instant they step foot in the alley, mixed with a nearly overwhelming smell of mold. Then, there’s the first of a number of patchwork dwellings made of fabricated wood panels, bailing wire, canvas sheets, chicken wire, rusted steel pipes mixed with copper and PVC pipes, and packing plastics.

Moving past this shack Casino watched as Echo moved towards yet another ramshackle pieced-together dwelling, smaller than the first and in truth mostly blocked by it actually, but like the first is spilling forth light from cracks in its construction. The big solo could see yet a third pieced together shelter beyond that was almost hidden in the dark of the ally but thanks to his optic spliced eyes Casino had no problem listing it in his brain for possible later referance..

No lights, clearly made of same materials as the others for the moment registered as empty. A fourth shack on the right side of the alley reminiscent of an abandoned and derelict shack also showed as empty as the group moved by.Raising his hand to Echo and the others he calls for them to stop and gather round.

“Ok no telling what’s ahead but do we roust the people here and check the lighted hut or move on.?”

Fenris watched, then helped as he and Pop forced open the outer hatch leading into the interior of the Demeter. As a wave of cold hit him Fenris noticed a bunch gray silver color and very thin, like paint flecks or film. As the suits internal heating kicked in the big mechanic they resembled ash flacks as if from a house fire.

Leaving it to the tech heads of the crew to figure out, he moved past Pop and further into the Demeter. Finding himself in a steel grated 20 x15 area, clearly the ship’s cargo bay, Fenris could see that the cargo door was closed and the emergency inner doors were closed as well. The area was empty of anything resembling crates of platinum bars and the Destiny’s mechanic could not help but let out a disappointed sigh.

“All clear here” He radioed over the suits comm system.

As he waited for the rest of the boarding crew to enter the bay he noticed torn straps still hanging from where they were secured. Clearly whatever had been here was long gone.........
