Subject: A Very Unhappy Dwarf
Highnar could honestly without a doubt say he was at the moment one unhappy dwarf, having with Brianna’s help finally gotten seated upon the horse with no one before him and he on his own. As to why they thought he could ride this mangy horse alone he still had no clue as he could feel that the horse below him did not like him much also.
Then Brianna called to all to move out and hopefully secure in the saddle the dwarf kicked the horses flank to get it moving.
(OOC: Ok seeing as Highnar has no Horse riding ability if this was 2e the DM would roll to see if he falls off. As this is 3.5 I have no idea if such a roll is warranted. Hopefully not as Highnar is sure to fall off )

Maximas was without a doubt the happiest of the party upon entering the room and leaving the confines of the passage below was ready for anything.
With Dapple’s check of the door and her all clear the Ex-Gladiator moved to open it as carefully and quietly as possible.
Before him he could see was an open area about 20 x 20 feet, with a solid looking door to the immediate right of him, on the north wall. Next he could see was a corridor to the south with a number of doors in various states of decay. As he at first gazed upon the cells anger seemed to begin its rise once again inside him but with a deep breath he held it in check. With his intimate knowledge of such Maximas could easily tell that the rooms and cells to the south had not been used by the current inhabitants, or any other, for quite some time.
Turning to the others he relayed this to the rest then waited for the first of them to pass by him.....

Ok Dragon Mistress/Brianna are you guys reading the Q/A thread. It seems not as the only ones who have posted in it are myself and Greenleaf. If we are not going to use I can delete it.
But here is a Q/A post. I think I will drop my wanting the Bracers of Armor +8 in favor of letting Greenleaf have them as he wears no armor. It just seems more sensable that he have them. As such I would like to add the Boots of Striding and Springing and the Star Ruby instead Thanks.
Also as I am busy packing up my Apt to move out of it at the end of March My posting until April will be sorta spotty. Please bear with me thanks.

The Mean Streets – Upper East Side – Night City – 12:49am
As Croaker waited with Preacher at the side of the building for Coyote to cross he scaned the Hole before them and could see that there was a lot of open ground between them and it. Not good, not good at all the Nomad thought to himself.
“So Preacher any ideas how we get across without getting fragged, we need a diversion or something to draw eyes away from this back area.”
(OOC: I assume we are to the rear of the building as that’s what I was trying for with the long detour earlier.)
Croaker spoke these words and looked around for Coyote who he noticed, still as yet had not crossed to join them. As he did so he noticed that the banger was on his cell phone talking to somebody. Croaker not the most trusting of people at the best of times, and having already this night been betrayed, immediately thought the worst.
“Frag Preacher, Coyote’s on his cell, think he is selling us out because of what happened in the van? Or calling in friends? Either way we could be in trouble“”
Croaker thought about turning the silenced Smart linked SMG towards the banger and killing him right then and there, but had to admit that he was not 100% sure that Coyote was selling them. Once the banger was across the street he would ask him point blank and then see if Coyote would lie. Turning his attention back to the area in front of them he tried to come up with a plan....

As Malius watched first Spite, then Podo and Codo, fawn themselves for attention from the Cidal he could not help but wonder what it was about this Torbin they found so attractive. Malius had to admit to himself that it did in fact make him feel a bit jealous of this Torbin. The Ranger also knew that now was not the time to ask his three companions as to why but he would only to know more about this Cidal.
“Greetings Torbin, I am Malius Darkblade and it seems you have made three new friends in my companions.”
It was then that, without really meaning to, he caught movement out of the corner of his eye and did see the black clad human adjusting the large sword upon his back. Taking now a good look at the possible human warrior, Malius could feel an almost sinister, evil aura about him and was taken aback by it for but a moment. Then with his hand as casually as possible going as if to rub his neck he did address him.
(OOC: assuming that as an Elf sensitive to such that I can feel the aura)
“And who might you be good sir, you all clad in black”
As he awaited an answer or greeting he continued to rub his neck as if sore from the journey, his longsword just inches away....
(OOC: Ok I may have over stepped myself by assuming I could feel the aura if so I will gladly change my post)

Maximus did not flinch as the Knight looked him straight in the eyes and began to speak with a determined yet non-hostile tone.
(OOC: Assuming here)
“Maximus, you took this mission knowing the dangers, knowing the way we were taking in and knowing your companions. Now is not the time for you to be saying no and now is not the time to sow seeds of distrust. Adrian is with us and serves with us – put all else aside. All he has tried to do from the beginning is to be helpful. He is from the empire, yes, and he makes no apologies for that and I don’t ask him too. Dapple is from the empire, as is Jal. The lands I call home were imperial less than 75 years ago. We all agree the empire is evil, and has touched us all. I judge a man on his deeds, not his past. So if you cannot get pass these prejudices of yours, then leave now and await our return at the base camp. But if you are the better Man that, as I think you are, then drive out those feelings of fear and distrust, fill the void with courage and stand with me. My sister may be in that tower and she needs our help. I need you. She needs you. Are you with me?”
After a moment he replied.
“Yes I am with you till the end Knight, let us be on our way before we are discovered standing here. But none the less I shall still go last as to cover behind us in case anything evil should lurk inside”
and so that no one will see my fear the huge gladiator thought to himself.
(OCC: again assuming no one stops me from taking up the rear)
And so following the others, sweat on his brow, fighting the fear inside, he was overjoyed and did relax as the passage way widened and he could breathe once again, yet the fear remained, subsided yes, but still lurking. Then Dapple did find the false wall and with Char leading the way they did enter some sort of small storage room, but to Maximus it was the size of a coliseum and happy was he to be out of the tunnel. With a single door as yet to be opened he awaited their next move....

As Highnar quietly stood watching the rest get set to once again move out, the offer of Logan’s to ride with him was presented, and Brianna’s thoughts of a safer place to divide the items gained was voiced.
“Thank ye lad for the offer but that best be decided by the party leader as to where I be best placed. And ye no doubt heard the lady Brianna say here was not the place to be dividing the spoils so be kindly placing them back in the center to be loaded, so we’s can be on our way.”
With that he awaited the word from the leader as who he would ride with from here to a place where a pony or something more suitable to his stature and size could be purchased....
(OOC: Ok not sure who the party leader is but I am guessing Brianna. Now as to the items gained I will not in character ask for any of them until we get to safer ground, but as a player I only want 4 items in order of importance and followed by the reason why.
1) Gloves of Dexterity (his present Dex is only 16)
2) Bracers of Armor +8 (the better the armor class the longer he lives)
3) Hand Crossbow +2 (Seeking/Speed) (He at present has no missile weapon due to former players write up (Would like to rework the character’s weapon proficiencies to add a proficiency in crossbow as until now I was unaware that he had no missile one)
4) Lavender & Green Ioun Stone.
Also my number is 50.)

Subject: Darkblade, Malius Darkblade
His name was Malius Darkblade, a name given to him by others as an orphan he was found.
Though a High Elf found in the forests of Alloryen, The Northern Sylvari Kingdom, from the first moment found the rumors and whispers of his linage begin for Malius’s skin was darker then any normal Elf, yet not as dark as that of the legendary Drow and as such there were those that thought him to be half dark Elf.
But with both parents assumed dead and nowhere to be found there was no proof of any such blood relation, yet growing up the boy Elf would bare its mark.
Given to a highborn couple to be raised it was not long before he found himself on the streets of Ela-Isthtel finding himself in as much trouble as that which he caused. His skin a cause for ridicule the young Elf with as yet no name did fight to defend himself, his honor and his right to be called Elf. So it was at his naming ceremonies that due to this tendency to cause strive he was given the first name of Malius (a take on the word Malice) and due to the darkness of his skin the last name Darkblade.
With his "Adult" years before him and his dislike of the city intense, he packed up his things and into the forests did go to live among the trees, and finally after 2 years of searching, did find himself a place of solitude on the outskirts of Palantir. Here he would no longer feel the hatred and curses thrown at him due to his darker then normal skin and he could heal from a lifetime of fighting just to survive.
But it was here that something amazing did begin as animals of all kinds began to come to him and seemingly seek his friendship, more each year then the year before. A Wolf did became his best friend and he named her Spite, the next year it was a pair of ferrets, a mated pair it seemed, and he named the male Codo and the female Podo. Of all the animals to seek him out he shared with these three a deeper level of communication as if they all were mentally linked and it was here that Malius realized for the first time his calling as a Ranger.
Standing alone now in a room in the underground city of Khordal the Ranger smiled to himself as he remembered his true beginning. The years that had passed him by a fraction of the many before him and in their passing he had gained a reputation among adventurers as one to be trusted, and though he could have changed his name at any time he chose to keep it as a reminder of his past.
As Malius gazed at the study room around him he along with Spite, Podo and Codo outside keeping watch (more likely hiding or sleeping), he thought of the note and emerald gem that had brought him to the home of Guland Granitefingers a well known Khordal gem merchant and a wealthy one at that. Though the need for him as yet unknown the offer of more riches intriguing, Malius had journeyed from his forest home two days to reach this room, only to await a gathering of more adventurers. As the minutes did turn into a half an hour finally the others arrived.
The four who did enter the study were without a doubt the most unlikely of adventurers Malius had ever seen.
The first was clearly a Cidal dressed as if wealthy, yet with a mask upon his face.
The next was male Khordal dressed clearly as one of the magical arts, a wizard or Sorcerer no doubt.
The third, a male Human in dark clothing, who by his build could possibly be a warrior, was normal compared to the last of the four, this being a Human female dressed as if a beggar plunked from the alleys of the streets outside.
What kind of mission was this to warrant the inclusion of a homeless beggar crossed the Ranger’s mind as he politely did nod to each in greeting as they entered. For now the only one with such info was of course their host, who as yet had not appeared. All Malius Darkblade could do now was await the coming of Guland Granitefingers.....

Talas was awaiting the parties answer as to his usefulness at creating a diversion when much to his surprise he was approached by Dapple.
She tilted her head up at him, looking quizzically, like a sparrow taking the measure of an ox. “Talas,” she spoke to him, her deep voice almost silent in the gloom, “crouch down beside me, as if you are walking in a small space. Make yourself as small as you comfortably can, and still be able to walk. I’ll take your measure. “
For the first few moments the big gladiator just looked at the young boy thinking if this was some sort of jest but the determined look in Dapple’s eyes finally convinced the big man to at least attempt to squat as asked. As he did so Dapple moved around him taking as he had said the gladiator’s measure. Then without warning the boy grabbed him by the chin.
“Know this, big man. I go in there first, and risk my life to find our way through traps and other perils. If I say that there is room for you to pass, you may be assured that it is true.”
The look in Dapple’s eyes for the first time since Talas had met him ice cold, the ex pit fighter found within himself a new respect starting to grow for the young boy. Mayhap this one was right and moving through the pipe would be ok, but yet still Talas would take no chances.
“Ok yes I will trust your word as to my ability to pass yet I still think just in case I should enter last.”
Now, with Dapple’s assurance, it was to Talas not so much his size but his hidden fear of enclosed spaces that he would have to overcome. But if not and he did freeze once inside the pipe better he enter last then risk the lives of any behind him. The guilt of his claustrophobia being the death of another party member, yet another fear in and of itself....

Highnar watched as Brianna and the rest sorted through the dead Drow things and did place that which he too had retrieved into the growing pile.
“I dinna want any of them foul weapons of these dark ones, poison, bah, that not be the way of fight’n and I shall be hav’in no part of them. But if’n there be something of use to me, other than weaps, I will gladly be accept’n from youse. Also as my Goat of a mount is gone I be need’n a ride”.
(OOC: ok I an assuming that everyone but Highnar still has a horse and that he is the only one without transport so to speak.)

As Talas listened to Adrian’s idea of using some spell called Grease to help him get through the drain before them the Ex-Gladiator and slave knew this was not to be. Turning to Valentine
“You will not lay a hand on me or cast any magic upon me Red!! Your people killed my family and enslaved me for their pleasure. You say you no longer ally yourself with them well this I find hard to believe knowing your kind so well. Yes you are a member on this task and I must work along side you, but I do not like you, I do not trust you and never will.”
Turning to Char.
“I offer to stay outside the compound walls and create such distraction as to draw as many enemy away from you as I can. But if you still insist that I must venture through this drain then I shall go last for if I do fail to make it through, then no one else will suffer for it but me.”
Awaiting an answer Talas hoped he would be able to remain outside the walls or would find another way in he did not want to crawl through such a very very small tube.
(OOC: Ok just to let everyone know that my attitude towards Adrian is due to his growing up as a slave under the Red’s and his deep seated hatred of them and in no way am I trying to cause problems.
As for his claustrophobia I added that to the character to give him more of human side and a little character depth. Think about it here we have this giant of a man skilled in combat both in an arena and outside of it and on the surface he appears fearless but yet he is scared to death of going through the pipe before us. Kind of makes ya stop and think hmmmm.)
