You are kidding me right?

No actually I'm not Roger. You see tree's all burn differently that's why I asked. Check it online if you think I'm kidding.

As far as where everyone is, I know Kiki and Crow are the two x's on the road as we had the only long bows.

Which way is the wind blowing. Towards us or away?

What type of trees are the Goobers moving threw?

What's the weather like right now and has been the last few days? Dry, wet, muggy?

Can we hear/see them or only the hidden party members can?

Is there a way I can signal the hidden party members or they me?

Yes Kiki is with Crow on the road with the caravan behind us as you had the only other long bow.

As he knelt and looked over the way in front of him Max could see nothing beyond the broken door, the hallway behind it sheathed in darkness. His magically gifted infravision useless he turned to HOTH the light from the short sword showing him nothing but a door 20 feet away. However Maximus could tell that the door itself was odd and made of some type of silver corrugated metal, with the door handle at the bottom. The door clearly opening upwards instead of to a side.

As the Fighter/Thief thought of a way to cross the 10x10 pit and gain access to the door, his thoughts were ripped from him suddenly as a burst of green energy rushed past the party. Maximus watched as the energy touched both the ratmen and the frozen skeletons bringing them once more to life. Turning to face the ice armored skeletons Maximus drew forth JAL to join HOTH in his hands, his thumb caressed its red gem.

"Feanor'Narwa"*

At once the long blade went red, the intense heat easily felt by the three close to him, as he moved to the attack..

Using the +4 fire attack/double damage of the sword vs the Skeletons and use my short sword to block attacks

Just cast it in the middle of the path once they pass your hiding place using the weeds and scrub. It states in the spell description that even that small vegetation can be used to cast the spell.

Subject: Good advice, but to wait is to do nothing

"Fine plans, but something here is amiss. Nothing I've found out since arriving at Portua points to a scenario like this being possible. Only twelve gobbers, no ranged weaponry, and Crow reports no other groups have joined with this main one. It feels like something else is going on here. Either there are more waiting in ambush somewhere, or something else has hit this caravan, and the gobbers are playing scavanger. Either way, we need to move carefully."

This thought brought to the fore by the Human Fighter Kiki caused Crow to turn his gaze once more up the path for a moment deep in thought. There was no denying the wisdom of the Fighters words, yet he had seen nothing to suggest there were other foes then the Gobbers themselves.

"You may be right Kiki and I agree with you, but we have no way to confirm that. I saw nothing that would suggest more then just the Gobbers await our caravan. I say we go as the plan is and stand ready if it should turn out that the Gobbers indeed are not alone." A pause to gather his breath and Crow started the plan to action. " Ok everyone off to your places and I'll kindly ask the brothers to start making a lot of noise once all are ready."

JC could not think of anything more boring as this shopping trip as they moved from store to store. Hell no gun stores, or outdoor men type stores were visible anywhere. To the gunslingers mind they had already passed more then enough men clothing stores but Stephanie always seeming to dismisses them out of hand.

Finally after maybe the 10th or 20th store they finally stopped before one named

Olivier's - Bespoke Tailor.

Inside they came face to face, sorta, with a very thin black gentleman with blue and green colored hair done up in spikes. A professional smile on his face,

"How can I help you?"

"My friend here needs a new suit, for a wedding." Stephanie told him passing over the card from the baron.

"I'm sure he does darling but I ..." He flips the card over and his eye bulge out, "OH MY GOD!!!! OH MY GOD!!! The Baron! The Baron! You are going to the wedding!! OH MY GOD!!!!!" he starts to jump up and down waving his hands in front of his face, "Oh I feel faint!" He runs to the back of the shop and opens the doorway to call, "CARL! Drop the Go Sa you are doing and grab the sherry! We got real work to do."

Rolling his eyes and starting to turn around to escape the man and the store he was stopped suddenly as the thin man moved in front of him blocking the door. As the ‘tailor' began looking him over JC felt like raw meat in front of a starved tiger.

"Big man aren't you? Well trust Olivier honey ‘cause you are in good hands." He moves JC's arm up to measure and sees the artificial arm. "Oh dear honey, what did they do you? This is ..OH MY GOD ....tragic. Completely ruins your symmetry, I...I...I just can't imagine how you deal with it sugar. You are indeed a strong man. AH! I know! Lamme! Gold, no! Platinum Lamme! Oh yeah! When I am done with you Sweetheart, you're gonna be a star!"

A quick look to Stephanie and the others for help showed her to have no compassion in her eyes and mostly amusement in the faces of the rest. JC was brought back quickly as he felt hands in all sorts of the wrong places as the man began to measure him in. As JC thought of a way out with a minimal use of violence and hidden weapons another small man, this one oriental with white hair came in with a decanter of sherry and multiple glasses.

"This could be awhile." Stephanie says to the rest of the group, "We may want to look around, come back in an hour or two. I am sure that JC is in good hands."

"Okay Honeybuns! Into that change room and take it all off now! Time to get Fab-u-lous!"

"Ahh whaaat? No don't leave me here alone, come on what did I ever do to you Stephanie?, Watch the fracking hands or I'll rip them off!"

A last look towards the others as they left the store, the gunslingers eyes full of fear, his mind already working on a number of ways to get his revenge......

"Well.... you could lure them into the bramble ...I can cast Entangle and then you just pick off at leisure."

Crow thought about Dudley's idea and had to admit it could help.

"Ok we stick to the ambush idea but we add in the entangle spell. Also we need not lure them into the bramble for it to work."

Having looked over the path on his scouting trip the Syl Ranger knew there was enough scrubs and weeds to make the spell work.

"Dudley once they pass you, use the weeds and scrub on the path to entangle them and then the 4 of you attack. That way if any should break free of your spell we still have them in a crossfire.... Are we agreed?"

(Ok am assuming here but there should be enough of the above vegetation to do the job. If not and I'll change the post)

"So was wondering. Your Captain mentioned someone named Billie. She another of your crew?" Wolf asked Chewie.

"Yeah. Billie is one of ours." Chewie said with an eye roll, "She kinda handles our security, if you know what I mean and I am sure you do." He offers the moonshine to Wolf once more. "Billie, is a tough nut to crack. She ain't what you would call pretty, or polite, or good mannered either. She had a fella that she loved like no one else and they would been happy together but he was killed in a game of cards by a guy with a bad streak of luck. Claimed cheating but he wasn't the type. The fella was hanged for it but it just ate up everything that was once social in Billie and she fills the gap up with drink whenever she can."

"I can sympathize, spent 7 years in a max sec jail cause they thought I was a browncoat, but was only a thief gone wrong. War meant no watchful eyes on the go tsao duh guards who got there enjoyment beating us up because THEY couldn't get it up with the ladies. She good in a fight?"

"But let me tell you, drunk or sober, she is a fast draw and really really deadly in a fight. Guns or fists, she is usually the one that comes out on top."

"A gunslinger huh, one of my shipmates, Asher is his name, is damn fast himself done pulled our asses out of the fire a lot of times. This battle you heard about, yeah thanks to his gun skills, he was a major part of us living through it."

"See the Captain has this thing for people who no one else wants. He sees a value in us and because he does it makes you .... I don't know ... make you wanna show him he is right. At least he does to me. Billie, well she'd be dead now a number of times over if it weren't for the captain. But he won't make her change until she wants to change. Besides, this ship practically runs itself and we manage."

"Funny you should say that my Captain is the same way. Offered me a place on his crew thanks to a friend's recommendation but I was scared of the Black like a duh NAN-shung. Thankfully he gave me a second chance later on when we met up again on Regina and I‘ve been with this ship as her mechanic ever since"

"Well I should get back to the ship and do some work, losing the light soon anyway. Hope to see you tonight at Whistlers though. See you later."

Thinking to himself that the offer sounded like a good one he agreed.

"Yeah count on it, I'll try to bring maybe some of the rest of the crew and we can have a meet and greet"

As he watched Chewie walk away and into his ship, he could feel a sort of kinship between the two crews. Could maybe make good friends here Fenris thought as he started back to the ship.

Just as he reached the Rocinante and was thinking to check with Ma on dinner, Wyatt called about the noodle house.

"Wolf here headed for the noodle house.....Ahhh where is it?"

Having yet to walk into the town proper the mechanic had no idea where it was.....................

As Maximus moved into the hallway of sprung traps he took nothing for granted checking along the way for more pit traps or any sort of trap whatsoever. Moving to check everything, skeletons, open pits, for any new traps, he knew his progress could easily be seen as slow but better slow then dead. With Finarsil close behind, he finally reached the open pit in the hallways middle. Using the light from his short sword he gazed into its depth not knowing what to expect.

Well at least no mist......

Subject: No plan survives enemy contact. :)

The journey to this point except for the consent bickering between the brothers had been uneventful., too uneventful to the ranger's way of thinking. Deciding to scout ahead of the caravan, despite the brothers' protest that all guards should stick with the caravan, he moved into the heavily wooden area. Feeling at home in the thickness of the wood it did not take long for him to hear voices.

His sharp Sylvari ears easily picked up the sounds of voices speaking a language known to him since his young adult years, Goblinkin! Moving quickly but oh so silent he came to the woods edge to see a group of large Gobbers pillaging the remains of few wagons. Counting roughly at least a dozen of them Crow could tell there was no way around and that they would have to fight through. Watching them a little longer to be sure of only the dozen he quietly listened to their guttural speech wishing he had learned it when he had been given the chance. However instead the young Syl had thought Dwarf much more useful. DOH!

Returning to the caravan he gathered his three friends and the other guards to him out of ear shot of the brothers or any of the wagon drivers.

"Ok we have a dozen Gobbers ahead scavenging another caravan. Looks like possibly no survivors as I did not see any"

"Excellent work Crow, not sure how you heard them over the racket here." Jarik gave a stern look at the brothers. "It is best if we pick the place to fight the Gobbers rather than letting them pick."

Looking at where Jarik had Crow had to agree however an idea came to mind however Bou spoke first.

"If we're planning on sneaking up on them, I'm guessing my best role is to stay to the side and pick them off with my sling. But I'll close if needed." Turning to Crow "Did you see how many of them have bows or the like? Can we pick them off from a distance?"

"As far as I could see none had such weapons." Taking a moment to think through his plan Crow brought it forth. "Ok here is what I think. Lets use the brothers bickering to lay a trap. With the way they yell and such it would be the perfect way to distract the Gobbers into charging straight at the caravan. Now we leave two of us as plain seen guards while the other four hide in the tree's and attack out of surprise. Now as Kiki and I have bows we stay with the caravan and act as we are the only defenders. We will attempt to enrage the Gobbers to get to us after we kill one or two of them. Dudley, Bou, you both have slings so you need to be closer so you two along with Alondas and Jirak hide on the sides of the road and let them pass you. Then once past you hit their rear from out of the tree's behind them. In that way hopefully we will make this a quick fight. Does anyone have something better in mind?".......

"Maybe a tankard of Ale would make the mist disappear?"

Maximus could not help but grimace remembering the incident referred to in Ody's hinted jab. However it seemed the Human Shaman had forgotten who had, had the last LAUGH. While the mage was "stripping" him out of his clothes the male mages familiar, a pretty purple faerie dragon named Peri, was robbing him blind of the 500 gold and 300 silver pieces kept behind the bar as change. The small dragon being of a very mischievous nature had also left behind a little surprise. Using a spell combination of Tasha's Uncontrollable Hideous Laughter, and Advanced Illusion, when Ody had gone to get change during the mages departure, he suddenly found himself laughing as the bar was filled with Imps! Well the rest of that night was chaos as patrons ran for the doors, the Imps crying and screaming chasing all, and Ody laughing as if he had planned it all as a great joke. Needless to say it had almost been a week before most of his regulars were convinced to return and that he had no hand in the faerie dragon created chaos of that night.

"It might at that my friend, however make this one Imp free, you know how they can ruin the mood"

With Finarsil's reply Maximus's fears of teleportation grew a little stronger. His dislike of traveling through teleports were well known amongst this group as had been seen as he had gotten sick when they first arrived. But knowing he might end up naked in front of the three female members of the party was another fear in and of itself.

Now he was not small or big but normal and all three ladies were quite, entrancing, but still. These were ladies that could kill ya with a blink of an eye, the sweat tone of a song and the wave of a hand.

Shaking his head to rid the thought of possible embarrassment and a deep breath, he went back to looking at the hallway before him.

(Ok trying to see if any of the traps look 'active' I know I know just looking hard)

As Maximus moved up behind the Elf Bard she started relating tales from the past some the Gladiator knew some he did not. Stepping past her he began a visual scan of the hallway in front of them. Only when Finarsil talked about a teleporting mist did he look up.

"At the end of the corridor ... with a green demon's face ... there was a doorway filled with mist ... that teleported party members into another section of the tomb ... but without any of their equipment ... or clothing!

"Ahh ok these are PAST tales rt?"

Maximus, no coward in the face of many enemies, found himself somewhat embarrassed at the idea of himself naked in front of Finarsil, Lun and Sparrow. Please not a NAKED teleported thing again The big Fighter/Thief could only await Finersil's reply.

Topic: The Gobber King
Subject: A New Adventure begins

It had been a crazy series of events from the battle with what Crow had termed "The Metal Midgets" to the six of them finding the door portal back to the Red Dog Inn. The worst of it in Crow's mind had been the Garden and the evil within it. The roses attacking to draw and drink blood, the flowers reaching up to grasp and bound limbs, four of the massive trees attacking with branches. Throughout spores filling the air, clogging noses and turning breathing hard and if it wasn't for the fountain of healing and Dudley's quick gardening they would have all been dead. Crow knew no matter how hard he would try he would still have nightmares of that one room.

However the last few months had been quiet here at the Red Dog, with the money left by Putnum, who had himself disappeared, the six of them had managed to rest and rearm. However in the course of those quiet months Wembly, Mal and Gamard had moved on to seek their futures elsewhere. With the six now down to three he, Dudley and Alondas had grown closer as friends and had decided to stay together and find the three of them work.

Now with the winter ending, and Putnum's funds running out, the three knew it time to look for employment and maybe a little adventure, without any gardening to be done. As they sought such it became quickly apparent that the only work would be as guards on one of the many caravans running the trade route between Portha and Sundal. Most dangerous of that route being the pass through Railir Peaks. Though not as perilous of a task as it once was, years ago the pass being a deathtrap, there still lived many creatures and evil things along with human monsters as well. However mostly it was home to "Gobbers", humanoid creatures kin to the goblins of old and Crow's species enemy. The Syl Ranger would have no problems guarding a caravan through those hills.

So it was that Alondas, Dudley and he were hired by a group of merchants looking to move their goods to Sundel - four wagons of root vegetables and apples. After a few months stuck in the inn, though restful the three were glad to be on the road again. Over the course of the few months Crow and his two companions had been in Red Dog they had met and briefly talked to some of the other adventurers, now also hired as caravan guards. One clearly a Fighter, perhaps a Chindarian Barbarian, looked always ready for a good fight. The next, a Half-Elf, also seemed to be a fighter, but not exclusively, maybe a rogue or maybe a mage as well as a fighter. Crow found it too impolite to come right out and ask knowing it would be revealed if needed. However the last of the three, another Cidal, Crow had only a little bit of doubt was anything but a master of the thieving arts. Both he and Dudley agreeing upon that. Not sure what a good a thief would be at guarding a caravan, Crow did not give it much thought. Any person, even a Cidal "thief", was welcome when and if the shit were to hit and the Gobber's actually came forth from their stinky caves and huts to attack.

As he watched the merchant laborers load the wagons waiting on Alondas and Dudley to join him, he flexed his fingers and arms readying for the journey ahead...........
