Subject: The Night Before Christmas

To all those I call friend
here at the Inn
And every Innmate true
I offer this poem to you

THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Was the night before Christmas
And all over the town
Not a creature was stirring
No one seemed to be around.

The town seemed quiet
A slight breeze in the air
No sign of Santa Clause
To be had anywhere.

The people were nestled
All snug in their racks
The pressures of real life
This night off their backs.

Suddenly the quiet was broken
The calm of night swept away
Something bright and moving fast
Was headed the towns way.

A roar of thunder
The screeching of wheels
St Nicholas so loudly
Did he so suddenly appear.

No Rudolph, no reindeers
No sled had he
But a magical 71 Harley Fatboy
As bright red as could be.

The people so amazed
Came forth to see
A leather jacket clad Santa
A helmet wore he.

Astride the Harley
He so calmly sat
A true road warrior
But without his red and white hat.

On the tail of his bike
A big ole red sack
Full of toys and candy
And many magical nick knacks.

On the wind music
The people could clearly hear
A song Santa was singing
To dispel the people’s fear.

“Bye, Bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levy
But the levy was dry
Those little worker elves
Were drinking whisky and rye
Singing no more does Santa have to fly.”

Santa had ridden
For many an hour
His legs were weak
From the massive Harley’s power.

He watched as the people
Came out to linger
A little boy picking his nose
With the tip of a finger.

A long road had he traveled
From the start of this magical night
The end of this road
Still far out of sight.

Looking them over
A smile on his white bearded face
He knew right away
That this was the place.

Feeling that familiar feeling
Deep down inside
He knew the time had come
To no longer hide.

And so with a wave
And a short time to burn
He hopped off the Harley
And to the people did turn.

“Merry Christmas to all
This fine lovely night
A nice wind you have
Yet with a bit of a bite.”

“My bag of gifts
Happily I open to thee
But where is your nearest bathroom
As I really have to pee.”

The next ten minutes
Went by so quick
The towns folk happy
With the gifts they all had picked.

Finally Santa returned
Relived of his bladder
Sat down on the motorcycle
Much lighter then fatter.

He looked at the people
still standing around
A hand into his pocket
And a gold coin was found.

Throwing the coin
To the nearest 21 year old teen
He asked for a shot
Of the towns best Jim Bean.

The shot arrived
Santa quickly drank it down
Got back on his bike
A last look at the town.

He started the engine
With a loud roar
Revved the engine
For a count of four.

The bike was then moving
Quickly out of sight
The people yet heard him
Call out into the night.

“Take this day
Hold it close and tight
Lets all try
To make it so right”

“Be happy
Be full of life
Be loving to children
Family, a girlfriend, a wife”

“Just remember I know if you’ve been
Naughty or nice.
Merry Christmas to all
And have a good night.”.................

As Wolf paused to survey his work with the scrubber an explosion rocked the ship. Now what he thought to himself as he rushed to check the engines only to find offline warnings everywhere. So far it had been a whirlwind of one thing after the other and the mechanic did not know the cause of said explosion however doing a quick check he found that the port side pod was unresponsive.

“Oh this is bad this is very bad” he thought to himself.

Wolf could tell that the containment for the main reaction part of the pulse drive was glowing. Clearly the sign of a fracture in the containment of the port side wing tip pod. Wolf knew he would have no choice but to shut the engines down completely to repair that. As he ran over to the shutoff valve quickly spinning the wheel to seal off the feed. The power levels were low so something else was damaged, probably the primary buffer panel. Then as Wolf adjusted the power levels to the secondary circuits he heard a voice behind him.

"Well isn't this interesting? That is an Enhanced graviton accelerator core isn't it?"

Unfortunately his first reaction was to turn and draw the shotgun on his back at point it at the strange voice behind him seeing a tall lanky teenage boy looking around the engine room like he was on some sort of field trip.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" the teenager screamed girlishly fainting straight to the floor. Shaking his head and re-holstering the shotgun he turned back to the engines. Then another voice came from behind him and just for a moment he again almost drew the shotgun again but recognized the voice as Ash.

“I’ll get him outta here before he wets himself and messes the floor.”

“Do it quick”

Minutes later.

“Sorry guy, I should’a stayed here,…… Wyatt has it under control out there. ….What’cha need ?”

“A prayer and a nice safe piece of ground.” Wolf said then explained the problem to Ash. Knowing to announce over the intercom about the serious nature of this new problem could set off a panic among the refugees from the pleasure liner Wolf was about to ask Ash to relay it to the captain, when Wyatt’s voice saved him the trouble.

"This is yer captain speaking. I'll be appreciating y'all's cooperation in settlin' down and finding ways t' stay out from underfoot as the crew goes about their duties. Crew...please go about yer duties an' deliver t' me reports on systems directly t' the bridge. Ash, Kid, it'd do well t' see how you can be of assistance in the hold right about now so John can git to his duties."

Looking to Ash Wolf just said “go” and turned back to the problem at hand

This is bad. This is very bad…………

As Wolf worked quickly having Ash to help if even briefly was a big help. Having no problem setting the scrubbers to max and getting the algae up to speed his next task was to hand build a second filter for them. He could feel the shaking of the Rocinante as it moved away from the pleasure ship. Then he was lucky that he was able to grab a hold on the work bench before him to not fall over as the ship was hit by a bigger force of pressure. Clearly some type of explosion.

Moving quicker he ignored what could be happening outside the ship, or inside it, and kept his attantion focused on building the filter.

Subject: Engine room set

For Wolf this new run they were on had pretty much started out much the same as the others before it…. Boring. Not that he honestly minded boring; boring was good and helped put creds in his pocket after all. However nothing got the blood flowing and adrenaline pumping like some action. His guns strapped he was prepping the engines for a heavier work load when the new pilot’s voice came over the intercom.

“Prepare for hard burn.”

Once again Wolf had to smile knowing he had called it right just as Asher ran into the engine room.

“What the *guay Is going on Ash!”
(Knowing Ash will tell me)

Hearing of the forthcoming rescue attempt from Wyatt over the ship's comm and now confirmed by Ash. With possiblty of a large number of new ‘passengers’ Wolf knew that as the atmos controls were currently set, the added bodies would be bad, very bad.

“Ash help me with this” Wolf spoke to Asher as he moved to adjust the Carbon Dioxide Scrubbers, the Heat Exchanger/Cooling system and finally the oxygen level within the Rocinante. He knew that he had no choice but to up the scrubbers to full, set the AC to frigging freezing and use the extra algae packs to produce more air. As he was doing this the intercom in the engine room went off once more this time the voice on the other end belonged to Miss Willow.

"Mr. Wolf, dear?” her voice sounded in the engine room," we're heading in to take on 40 casualties, though it's a big ship and we may end up with more. We'll be needing more air than we're currently producing."

Pausing only long enough to send a quick reply “On it miss Willow” Wolf with Ash’s help continued prepping the ship for its forthcoming new cargo.

*Hell

ADVENTURE AWAITS YOU
WILL YOU DARE ANSWER ITS CALL

Hello Innmate Adventurers both old and new, I am Trilogy Master Tann'Talas and as they say in the military I am looking for 2-3 good men or women or a combo of both to join the longest running game on record here at the Inn 8 years as of this past August. Some of you may know me from the games I have played in as a player and on the Inn here as a former Staff Member and friend but not as a DM. However I have run this Campaign since it first started as a single table top adventure back in 1985 with many different table top groups and on the Inn since August 2004.

The Adventure is set in a world I created in late 85 while in the military that I named Trilogy and is my version of the Lord of The Rings but is nothing like the books. Instead of the one ring the party must recover and destroy an Intelligent sword of great evil before it like the ring falls back into it's creators hands. I use AD&D 2nd Edition rules with a few house rules and rules learned on the Inn thrown in for easier game play.

As characters you start with 1,200,000 exp's for a single classed character and 1,500,000 exp for a Multi-classed character to be split however you choose between the classes. The main PC race’s allowed are Dwarf, Elf, Human, Half-Elf and Halfling, however other races will be considered depending on back story and feasibility.
Any race can be any class except for Paladins who are limited to only Elves and Humans.

Any multi class combo will be allowed regardless of race restrictions Examples: a Dwarven Ranger/Mage, an Elvin Fighter/Cleric/Druid.

Paladins can only multi class with the class's of Mage or Cleric As long as it falls within the 1, 500,000 exp limit and the character has no more then 3 classes, all characters will be considered.

I will accept only the Alignments of Lawful Good, Neutral Good and Chaotic Good, as this is a true battle between good and evil with only a hint of gray.

There are no really needed class's at this time as the party is already somewhat well rounded. However they could always use another Fighter type or Mage or a combo of multi-classes. However whatever you want to play, write it up, I’ll check it out.

Also only single class fighters can specialize unless using a kit that allows specialization examples Myrmidon (FHB),or Justifier (RHB) and kits will be allowed.

Though I do have the book available to me, I am not using Skills and Powers as I myself am unfamiliar with it.

Each characters starting equipment is as follows.

+3 Primary Weapon.(All special weapons considered)
+2 Secondary Weapon. (All special Weapons Considered)
+2 Armor of Choice (Special Armors considered)
+2 Shield if used. (All special Shields considered)
4 other magical Items but they must be approved by me.
2 Potions of Extra healing.

All normal gear is allowed at no initial cost but please list on character sheet what you have and where it is placed Examples `in backpack` `in belt pouch` `in boot` `slung across back` and so on.

As for dice rolls, I do them all whether to hit in combat or when using a non-weapon proficiency or ability. I will make them both for the players and monsters, but will let players know at end of each combat round what damage was taken by each character, but not what damage was done to creatures. I will roll all hit points using the standard method for each class in 2e and for multi class's once a character has been accepted into the game.

Now a short word about my world it consists of a main Continent and numerous Islands and Island chains. The main continent is of course called Trilogy while the biggest Island is called Cirath Ungole. I must warn all players interested that alot of the names of places, towns, mountains and so on come from the many novels I have read over the course of my 46 years of life and some are my own. Trilogy is a highly populated world of Humans, Elves, Dwarves and other creatures including the likes of Orcs, Goblins, Giants, Dragons and so on. Just your typical AD&D world with a few twists. Every creature in AD&D has their place somewhere in my world.

I have a full scale enlargible map up on the first page of the game thread along with the world’s history which is a must read for the hints and clues it gives towards the game. Also depending on what Race and Class you play I will give you a homeland from the world unless you see one you like.

So there you have it I know I most likely have forgotten something but it will come out in your questions and my answers. I am a very understanding DM more so then I am as a player and I think I run a very fun and enjoyable RPG adventure full of not just hack and slash but of reasoning, thinking and party interaction. I believe that the storyline above all else is what makes a game good, just ask my current 6 players if you want more insight into my DM style.

As DM I will try to post each week on Sunday’s or Monday's, depending on real life commitments. The manner in how you post is up to you but I hope that though a post is short it will be at least somewhat descriptive to give me something to work with and not become a habit. As there is quite a bit of thinking and interaction among players, both in game and out and lots of deductive reasoning long descriptive and party interaction posts are always welcome.

Remember my enjoyment as a DM is reading player posts and working with them to tell a grand story that will be not soon forgotten.

All I ask from a player in my game is a minimum 1 post a week and no more then a 2 week gap between posts. If for some reason, be it real life or something else, you cannot post please let me know why and all will be forgiven. If you have not posted in 2 weeks and I have not heard from you as to why, I will not seek you out and may be more then likely to drop you from the game.

So come try it out you won't be sorry you did, like our motto below states I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we do. Feel free to post here any questions you may have or PM me also.

"GAME ON"!!!

Topic: Voyages of Rocinante - Serenity/Firefly RPG
Subject: ***

For Wolf the end of the fight and flight against the Angel was a relief allowing him once more to repair the Rocinante’s engines. Then came the farmers and their families job and with the successful outcome and the numerous jobs afterwards Wolf found himself almost non-stop in the engine room. So much so that even though he had his own stateroom he took to sleeping more and more in that same engine room. The Black was good for getting away from your troubles, but it also allowed time to think and sometimes the thoughts that a person found in their heads were not the best.

Though it had been months since Sam’s disappearance Wolf could still not help but think on where his old friend, hell his first friend, had gotten to. Was he out in the Rim, was he hiding in Reaver space on Miranda, or somewhere in the Outer Asteroid Belt on a lonely chunk of rock. Hell knowing Sam he was probably on Ariel or another of the Core Worlds watching the stars, a good looking girl on his arm, thumbing his nose at the Alliance for being where they might not think to look. Yet the question remained in Wolf’s head why did he really run and who had he once been to have to run at all.

As such the Rocinante’s lone mechanic, well not so alone since the arrival of Ryan, had taken to staying on ship with Trish whenever in port. He still interacted with his fellow crew but as for passengers he took a non-social demeanor. His days to him started to roll together in his mind as one long single day with brief spots of excitement. The best of those days were when the new pilot, who he had learned was named Tess, received a care package of various ship parts that with Ryan and Asher’s help he had a field day with. Especially the EMP gear and though it was a real *Wong Ba Duhn to work with, it had felt good lining the ship with it.

Now they were once more on a run headed to Deadword of all places and had some kind of Monk on board even. Though Wolf had yet to interact with said Monk, his non-social demeanor still quite intact, he wondered why a semi-religious person would be in on such a run. Wolf had never been a big believer in a god or some such deity he was more a hands on kind of guy. If he could not see it, taste it, feel it or be shown conclusive proof it existed he wrote it off as BS. Now he did believe in the power of things greater then himself, take the Black for example, but overall he had no time for myths or religious mumbo jumbo.

So it was that when Wyatt’s voice once more came over the intercom Wolf was taking a nap in the engine room.

"Evenin'," Wyatt drawled into the shipwide com. "This'll be your captain speakin'. It looks like we might be Gavin' a few guests fer supper t'night, so let's make preparations accordingly."

As Wolf jumped up and gathered his guns, ya never knew just what type of ‘guests’ they would have, one Brigit coming to mind. He quickly moved to the engines to prep them for a fast burn if needed...........

In the engine room things were a bit crazy as Wolf and Asher tried to get the systems all back on line. With Asher realizing that he had made a mistake. The gunslinger was so anxious to help and be useful that he did what he thought should do.

“Wolf…get the beacon off…..there’s a set of jumpers in the tool box to fix what I pulled.”

“What do you think I’m doing playing solitaire??" Wolf retorted a little bit peeved

As the kid ran to the box and quickly returned with the clamp-ons. Wolf had already disconnected the beacon by pulling the wires out in the right sequence.

“Here…this’ll bring the line back up... Kora believed in being ready…she’d showed me a lot work’n on the gear..guess I need some more time with wiring.“ Asher said.

Wolf looked up, "Go to it then. You need to reset the circuit as soon as you are done. Back panel, flip the switch with the orange showing. It a safety precaution, so it don't fry you inside out."

Fenris worked as fast as he could to move power into the engines and the flight controls for the new pilot. He could not do two things at once and he knew that Asher needed to fix the mistake in save face in his own mind.

As the ships wild maneuvers finally came back to some semblance of normal, Wolf breathed a sigh of relief. Whoever the pilot had been, Ryan or the girl, he hoped Wyatt kept he/she on. However as to the pilot’s ID his question was answered as the girl’s voice came over the intercom.

“Nice work, boys. This pretty lady’s got some right’n fancy moves. Make’s a girl feel good knowin’ there’s a couple of good men workin’ behind the scenes. Remind me to buy ya’ll a drink once we git back to port.”

Moving to the intercom himself Wolf toggled it to reply.

“I don’t your name *xiao mei mei but you fly like a beautifully **jing Chai shiong-mung duh kwong-run and thank Buddha for that. Welcome aboard as I know the Captain isn’t stupid enough to let you get away.”

(assuming a possible reply)

Clicking off the intercom with a smile Wolf returned to once again checking over the Rocinante’s engines.

I just wanted to let everyone know here at the Inn that yesterday I received an email from YeOlde’s Wife.

In the email to me she expressed gratitude for continuing to keep my blog entry up even 1 year after his death and that she had read it and the comments posted many times.
Had even gained strength from them. She hoped that we had not forgotten him and felt that a part of him still rested within the Inn.

I responded that we had not forgotten him and that some of us who had known him best never would. I have to admit I had forgotten that this past Monday was the 1 year mark of his passing and am very embarrassed that it took his wife to remind me.

So this week maybe we can all have our own moment of silence to remember a great gamer............

Loved reading it. But I'm hoping you'll maybe finally update our character sheets to the changes and added skill dice we got from completing the last adventure.

Again great post, why I only play in your games anymore.
