Tal‘Anor rode quietly as the party of five reached the town’s main gates. As he awaited his cousin to speak he took in the scene before him. Manning the gate area were four human guards who seemed somewhat lazy in their greeting and guarding of the gate. As he watched one of them detached himself and started asking for some type of entrance fee, then of all things this ‘human’ dared to threaten them, did not this human know to whom he spoke.
"Make sure to keep your peace strings on at all times, Baring steel within the walls of Crall's Shoal carries a fine of twenty levens."
As the human finished speaking Tal was about to speak his disfavor at their treatment and as nobility of having to pay for entrance but a quick look from En’Aranthea stopped him from saying a word. Though it had been some time since she had used it, he still knew that look from his cousin and so said nothing.
Then they were past the gate and headed into the town proper as all followed, Tal quickly forgeting his displeasure turned to En’Aranthea as she only knew of the meeting place.
“So cousin what say you, where are we to meet this contact of yours”
As he awaited the Bladesinger’s answer his eyes yet scanned all around him, call him paranoid but this town seemed almost too clean for humans. For now his ‘peace string’ lightly tied he stayed on guard.

The Mean Streets – Upper East Side – Night City – March, Friday 13th, 2020, 12:53am
Croaker watched the fire escape and windows of the Hole as first Guardian and then Peacekeeper/Jaimy moved past him, she giving him a look with her eyes that spoke volumes and yet was nearly unreadable, he could only hope that the look was meant to be a positive one.
Then she was past him and on her way to the van.
Suddenly gunfire sounded from beside him as Preacher let go a 3 round burst. His attention drawn to the head of the alley Croaker watched as a Wild Thing having taken Preacher’s burst was blown backward out of it, but behind the now dead ganger were 5 of his friends.
Suddenly the Nomad and Solo found themselves in the midst of a swarm of bullets and Croaker knew Preacher had been hit. He’d heard the impact of the rounds against the Solo’s body and armor and Preacher’s grunt of pain telling him at least one round had gotten through, but being to Preacher's left and slightly behind him he had no idea as to the severity of the hit. With the situation as it stood Croaker did not have the time to check the Solo’s status as to just where he had been hit.
His thumb flipped the regulator to full auto as he brought his weapon to bear on the alley. With no hesitation or thoughts of just how unskilled he was with an SMG he aimed, relying on his smart gun link to send the bullets true.
Within seconds the threat from the 5 gangers was ended as Croaker emptied the MK-11’s clip and twenty rounds of armor piercing slugs flew from the SMG’s barrel to blanket the whole mouth of the alley. The first running Wild Thing spun about and fell to a the ground hard, lying still at the end, the second stumbled as if had tripped, fell to the pavement and rolled to lie jerking about and screaming in pain. The third runners head exploded in a spray of dark red liquid, the body falling back, nothing but bone left to signify where once a head had been.
The bullets then moved on next finding the kneeling Wild Thing causing him to jerk backwards and just like his gang brother his head exploded covering the Wild Thing behind him in blood, bone and gristle. The Wild Thing’s thought of dismay at being covered in such human debris short lived as the remaining bullets from the SMG cut his legs out from underneath him. With the action of such causing him to fall it too put this gangers head right into the path of the last bullet, which struck him dead on thus killing him.
With the death of the last Wild Thing in sight for the moment a brief lull in the battle fell and Croaker knew it was time for the two shadow runners to get the hell gone.
Turning to Preacher he quickly ascertained the Solo’s condition and made a snap decision. Letting the Smg hang from its sling and drawing his Armilite 44 he grabbed Preacher with his free hand and helped the Solo to his feet with his weight braced on him he started them both back to the van. Croaker main thought was to get Preacher back to the van and make him priority #1 for Firewind’s med tech; with an eye to their rear he kept the 44 ready to speak the sound of death.
Then without a word Jaimy was on Preacher’s other side supporting him and helping Croaker move the Solo in the direction of the teams transport. His eye's still on the Hole, his 44 smart linked, and the van close Croaker hoped for no more Wild Things....

With the Badger dead and he himself fully healed he thanked the both the dwarf Geim and the Lady Alyssia, if not for the dwarf's timely intervention of healing magic the Sylvarian Ranger may very well have died and with the Lady's aid he was once again at full health. Though her words to him and her display of magic had been harsh at the start of this quest he now felt perhaps the beginning of a possible friendship.
With the threat to Birch Root over the village in a frenzy of joy threw them all a celebration with hugs, hand shakes, a pat or two on his back and a few kisses that found their way from his hand to his lips with a hint of more to come later.
Thank god Malice thought that the kisses came from female and not male Syl’s.
Then the fire and the burning of the monster that had so viciously tormented the village for the past weeks.
There was wine, spiced bread and some simple delicacies. A hymn to the companions’ victory already written and the village’s gratitude. At the celebrations end, the town elder came up and held a speech that concluded with the donation of a pouch already made of the badger’s skin containing the promised 75 gold pieces and the holy symbol of Kith Jora: a beautiful granite disk clad in silver, bearing the image of a tree with leaves showing the first red specks of fall. The disk was light, and could easily be altered to hang from a chain or necklace. The elder told them of the special powers, and slowly the party thinned out as people tired from the long day.
Though Malice did not feel right about accepting the disc, taking it from a village that most likely needed it more then the party.He seemed to be the lone voice of non-acceptance and also the lone sylvari among the party, so he said his piece and then wandered off to a hut close by, a pair of very comely maidens on his arms.
Twin sisters he realized with a smile as he locked eyes with both, mayhap saving this village had benefits all its own.....

Maximus was the last to slowly regain his feet, though somewhat healed and once again able to breathe his body was yet in pain. The large warrior knew from his many years in the pits that he was still seriously hurt and in need of more healing, so reaching into a pouch he removed one of the 3 Healing draughts given to them from Dwan and proceeded to drink himself to full health.
As he did so talk amongst the rest of the party turned to a choice of continuing onward or retreating.
Kilgim
"Lads. Me thinks we might need t' pull back fer 'ealin', fer me spells are runnin' out soon. Or if ye wish t' move on, usin' Dwan's potions could be wise now. But if'n well run now, the Imps'll 'ave time to rearrange their defense or flee. Your call."
Arien
"You are correct that we would benefit from some rest and healing - but you are also correct that our enemies would do the same. I fear that if we allow them to prepare, we may find ourselves in an even worse situation."
The knight paused. "However," he continued, "I may be allowing my own personal feelings to cloud the matter. The fact is, Kilgim, I cannot retreat from here - not with Alloryen being held prisoner. I will not compel - or even ask - any of you to accompany me further, but I cannot, will not, leave."
The Knight then did as Maximus himself had just done and drank of a Healing potion.
"I will listen to your counsel, friends, but you must understand that I can but stay the course.

He knew not the Knight’s sister Alloryn but he himself had endured bondage and slavery at the hands of the same captors. The Ex-Gladiator/slave could not, would not stand by and allow anyone to suffer such if he had the power to free them. In this case, with this group, he felt he had such a chance to do so.
Maximus he of few words now fully healed, his vorpal sword once again held firmly in hand, stepped up to Arien and placed his left hand upon the Knights shoulder.
“We shall not leave your sister in bondage Sir Knight on my sword and life I swear this to you, we will get her back or die in the attempt”
With Char moving towards the stairs in recon Maximus moved to stand slightly behind him ready to charge up the stairs like a human battering ram. With his large size, large shield and Boots of Speed he knew he could provide cover and get up the stairs fast. Then hold a foothold and allow the others to gain the level with him, relaying his plan to Char he just waited for the Ranger to give him the go ahead....

Croaker watched as Guardian started to move, having kindly covered Jaimy with his body.
The Nomad could not help but feel a tinge of jealousy at that but knew it was irrational. Keeping watch on the stairs and upper floors of the building, while Preacher beside him watched the alley way, Croaker only wished they would move faster. Time was quickly running out with more Wild Things, not to mention half the city's sec guards, surely on thier way. With no time to look behind him to check on the status of the van he could only hope BullsEye had it all under control....

Dragon Mistress just how many shots do I get in a round with the repeating Crossbow, I thought at least 2.
Highnar looked over the field of battle before him and was not happy with his new crossbow. Though he had hit an Orc dead on he had failed to drop him, which considering thier lack of health was very unusual to say the least.
Then he watched as Brianna fired her bow hitting the same Orc three times with her arrows and still the Orc came on.
What the hell kind of Orc's were these to take such damage and continue forward. Deciding using the crossbow against such as these Orc's was pointless he dropped it to the ground and using his new boots leaped into action.
Both his axes to hand he began swinging the moment he landed among them....

Malice once on the verge of passing out felt refreshed and was no longer bleeding. Thanks to Geim and his fast action on healing the Ranger, Malice was able, while the creature's attention was elsewhere, to pull his leg out of the dirt and pick up his dropped longsword. Moving closer the Sylvari Ranger awaited an opening to strike back at the creature who had surprised him. This time the badger would not find him as helpless as before....
