With John piloting and Wolf in the Co-pilot seat they made good time to the Atmos Processor. As they landed Wolf eyed the multi-leveled building before them and could not help feel a chill go down his back as to the black of it. Standing and grabbing the JC he turned to John, grabbed the SPAS30, and handed it to the ships tech guy.

“You ready?”

John takes the shotgun, ensures he has a confortable grip, and nods. "Let's hope nobody's home."

“Ok let’s do this, once I take care of the lock we go in file first. I’ll go in first you cover me, and then I’ll find cover. Once in cover you enter move past me till you find cover and so on till were sure the AP is empty.”

"Seems a bit excessive, if it's locked from the outside I can't think why we'd need those precautions. Wouldn't it be best to just sweep the building quick hugging the walls?"

“Yeah we could do that but the processor is huge no telling what has crept in here in the years it’s been here. Better safe then sorry.”

As Wolf reached the doorway into the huge building was he saw it was only locked with a large padlock. Though clear this was not a high sec building still the lack of any electrical security still made Wolf nervous. Then again, who was going steal an atmosphere processor? All the way out here. The parts maybe but the processor itself?

Then Wolf caught himself laughing as he realized the comedy of that thought. Who would steal one? why they were, the crew of the Rocinante, a Serenity class ship.

Bolt cutters in hand Wolf took the lock off easily opening the door. As decided the two moved forward until the breakers were found and John tripped them flooding the interior with light from florescent bulbs on wired racks to reveal that the Fixer and Tech guy stood inside a huge circular room that would have normally housed equipment and vehicles needed for initial terra-forming, but of course, it was empty now. In the center of this large area was a domed chamber with shafts leading up and all over the upper reaches. The main processor would be in there and would be secured but they were after the Atmos Processor not the main and it was up the shafts near the top of the building.

“Any ideas?"

With everything you posted and realize after reading your post above that my post came off wrong. Rereading my post I can see where taking the gold smiling was the wrong way to put it. I was trying to play him per his alignment and got carried away with the fact of his being an Elf also. I don't know what else to say other then I made a mistake and hope Teller will rethink her decision to not run this game.

Since I wrote the post I’ll drop out if she feels that is for the best though I’d like to stay.

Subject: Clarifacation

OK once again I seem to be defending a post of mine from Keeper, go figure. There are a number of reasons for my post none of them greedy or selfish.

1) We are not the first party to go here for this book so Crow wants any advantage he can get to make sure the PARTY gets there, gets the book, and does not die in the attempt.

2) Crow has no need of Tomes or Books as he cannot read and lives mostly outdoors. So he did what I would do and asked for something else. However if you read my post he did so not only for himself but for Saadar and Kaelyn’s characters too as they are not “Spellcasters” or book types.

3) Though he took the 500 gold given up by Tek’s character he only took it because Tek gave it up. Crow never asked for more money just questioned if going to this tower for 1000 gold was worth dying for. On top of that he is not pocketing that money for himself but using it to find anything magical that once again will help him and thus the PARTY survive this quest.

4) Crow’s job as Pathfinder puts him in the most danger as I will be in front of the party by 30-40 yards in wooded areas and such and will possibly be the first to be attacked. So again any advantage he can gain he will take.

5) As far as teamwork that will be no problem as I will work with everyone as he is no ‘Lone wolf’. However he does not consider any in the party as a friend but more like co-workers due to his background. Crow will do his job and do it to the best of his abilities for the betterment of the PARTY.

6) I’m attempting to play my alignment as stated in the 2nd Edition Players Handbook as copy and pasted below.

7) Finally as I know Keeper as a close friend in real life Ayrn, if he wants to quit, let him quit. There is no point in trying to get him to stay if he wants to go; he is very stubborn that way. Honestly, though he is a good friend, HE has more problems with my posts whether I post them as a DM or a player then any one person I know.

“CHAOTIC GOOD: Chaotic good characters are strong individualists marked by a streak of kindness and benevolence. They believe in all the virtues of goodness and right, but they have little use for laws and regulations. They have no use for people who “try to push folk around and tell them what to do.” Their actions are guided by their own moral compass which, although good, may not always be in perfect agreement with the rest of society. A brave frontiersman forever moving on as settlers follow in his wake is an example of a chaotic good character.”

A short pause then Crow asked again “So I ask again oh great Librarian... What’s in it for the three of us.”

As Crow waited for the Librarians answer to his question it was Lambert that spoke first, his voice tinged with irritation.

"Librarian Tremain offers a collective five thousand pieces of gold to us, Crow. One thousand apiece. That sum could provide food to a village and its livestock for nearly a year. For the orphanage, clothes or maintenance McKay be provided to the needy. My own share could restore a sizeable part of the temple my brothers and sisters seek to repair to service. Tell me, Crow, what cause is yours to make light of what this man offers? Libraries contain books, not vast vaults of coins and baubles. The mental is valued more than the material in places like this. I would take the opportunity for research in here were I you," Lambert leaned back in his chair. "Exploring the wealth here might teach you a few lines of diplomacy, and that may provide you a far greater reward that whatever you plan on doing with Tremain's coffers, I assure you that. But in the event you find that insubstantial, then good Librarian," His gaze turned from his traveling companion to their contractor. "I retract my dedication of my own personal reward from the temple. Give it instead to Crow upon our return with the Compendium."

“I make light of nothing priest and I have no cause but my own. You seek knowledge in a book,so be it, I gain knowledge by surviving to live yet another day. The Librarian has stated that parties sent before us have not returned, do you wish our fate to be the same? If my asking for something I can use to keep me alive and thus keep you alive, then I will do so and your hurt feelings be damned. However I will gladly take up your offer of your share of the advanced payment and the rest if we return.”

With that Crow turned to look at the Librarian awaiting his interrupted reply.

“Well, we do not have equipment here, nor is this place a storehouse for magical items. We collects books, scrolls, papers, anything of written knowledge and history. Access to this knowledge is all that I can offer you beyond what I have already agreed to. However we do have tomes here that can help you to increase your skills in whatever career path you have chosen. Access to this type of knowledge would be granted upon your successful completion of the mission.”

Crow remained quiet weighing the benefits of questing with the other five and could not see them gaining this tower without his abilities to find the safest path.

“Well as I cannot read, those ‘tomes’ also hold no attraction to me. However I will lead this party with my skills as a pathfinder” Looking towards Lamberts back as he left the room Crow hoped he and the priest would be able to see eye to eye in the coming weeks. Grabbing his upfront payment he placed only his 500 gold pieces in a pocket leaving Lamberts alone. "If the priest does not return for that gold give it to his church."

With that Crow returned to his room readied his gear and went to sleep. The next morning saddles packed and ready for the quest ahead he and his warhorse found themselves waiting for the rest of the party at the ferry docks.

As he quietly sat and listened as the other members of the organization and possible party members for this quest gained more information, asked for horses, wine, and access to the library. The lone Sylvari could not help quietly asking himself one question, so he decided to ask it out loud.

“Librarian you say you will pay us a total of 1,000 gold upon completion of your quest, not a petty sum. Yet you tell us others have gone to this place and have not returned did you again offer only 1,000 gold? Nadya has also asked for access to your library and wine, and that is fine for those that sit here that can make use of it. I for one have no use for your library nor do I think has Archan and possibly Rose as we are not of the scholarly types as our skills lie elsewhere other then in books.

So I ask you Librarian what’s in it for us non-scholarly types? Have you any magic within your great building of stone to help us survive this quest. Have you any items that we each may choose from to increase our skills thus granting us a greater chance to return with this item you crave so greatly, yet are unable to retrieve yourselves?”

A short pause then Crow asked again “So I ask again oh great librarian... What’s in it for the three of us.”

Topic: Iron Man 3... What did you think?
Subject: Iron Man 3... What did you think?

Well I have to say I’m of two minds about this third installment. As an Iron Man/Avengers fan the movie is quite good. It has its Tony Stark quirks and the part about him not being able to sleep because of the nightmares haunting him of what happened in New York with the rest of the Avengers. A lot of the movie really is how he handles that trauma so there is a deeper story behind the brash cockiness of our favorite Shellhead and I really liked that. It has its action and interchanges with various cast members, introduces one of the main bad guy organizations in the Marvel world and has a few surprises. Overall I give it a C-.

Now comes the second mind and the cause of the C-. As a Marvel universe fan covering the gamut of all marvel heroes and villains I have always loved the way things were set up in the comics. I understand that each writer/director what have you has their own vision and I normally accept that with a grain of salt. However, not to give out spoilers hopefully, but what they did in this movie to the main bad guy did not do him justice in any shape or form!
If I had known of this twist before the movie I would have waited for it on DVD. However this twist of course is probably the biggest one in the movie so yeah unless a friend tells ya, you read about it online, or find out another way, you won’t see it coming.

So I hope you like it, next up Wolverine!

Feel free of course to post your thoughts and feelings here but please no spoilers Thanks

We could all be members of a large Mercenary Guild much like a Thieves Guild, Mages Guild or an organization much like the Harpers from Forgotten Realms.

Alana at the moment just happens to be the Guild’s agent in this town as such she was approached. She knew to send for us as whenever a Guild member enters a town they are required to sign in stating they are in town and if they are available for work.

Also this could explain why there are 5 humans and 1 Elf as we were the only Guild members in town she could call on. It also takes care of the leadership issue as we are not a full time party in the sense of one, but guildies that have worked together before. Plus it allows a little leeway in the story if say two of the characters do not like each other for instance say Crow and Alana, but they work together in game for the money.

Just my two cents

Subject: In The Beginning

The new day born out of the darkness of the night was bright and cool the bustle of a city on the verge of another busy day clearly heard. Vendors opening their stalls, eatery's beginning the cooking of bread, early bird taverns opening their doors for both food and drink. This was the city of Felarin a place of hope and goodness too many but as with all city's a place of hopelessness and sorrow to others.

Prostitutes returning to their Inn rooms and homes to rest from a night hopefully well served. Soldiers on their morning patrols, lawmen rousting the drunks from taverns and alley‘s. Thieves, muggers, and pickpockets counting their gains, teen gangs of elves, humans and other races roaming their so called hoods collecting their protection pay offs.

A city of magic and wonder, with a school of magic, shrines to almost all the Gods, and home to the great Library of Felarin. A city of shadows and corruption, bordello’s, gambling halls, and shops dedicated to the pawning of illegal gains. A city full of many different races living and dying together without a seconds thought. The Elf Ranger known only as Crow sat on the roof top of the inn of Broken Sorrow above a rented room window looking into the city spread out before him and hated it.

Well maybe not hate, he thought to himself, after all hate was a strong word perhaps a better word was disgusted. To an Elf born of the wilds even before he was born, a city of this size was like a cancer on the face of the earth. Born into a family bigger then most, a circus family, the young aged Elf once known as Maithias Crowmarhte was not one to stay long in one place. The only reason to be in this foul city was work which he and his group needed as the last job had not paid as well as hoped.

As he sat there as the sun rose into the sky he noticed a boy come out of the Inn and look right up at him and wave. Not wasting any time and feeling a little bored he stood, moved to the roof’s edge, and in a series of jumps, springs, and a last minute flip landed on his feet in front of the young boy.

“Master Crow, the Lady Mage Alana, orders your presence inside the inn at once”

Crow had to smile at the wording of the boy’s relay of Alana’s wishes as he knew better then to think Alana would order any of the party around. The Lady Mage was not one to be in a leadership role though within a city she was sometimes a good choice. Out in the wilds the group conceded the leadership role to him as he knew them better then most, but overall the party really had no leader content to play it by ear as the need arose.

Nodding his head to the boy he followed him into the back room where the rest of the party was slowly gathering. Once all were gathered around the table the six of them briefly discussed what the Library could want with their group. In the end, they agreed to at least go and find out what the Chief Librarian wanted with them, hopefully it would pay well.

“Please be seated,” the Chief Librarian said, “I have a business proposition to discuss with you. We can enjoy a little Sylvarian wine while we talk.”

As they sat, he took his place at the head of the table; he took up his goblet which was then filled by a young man. When the serving boy moved to fill Crows cup, the Ranger waved him off, not trusting to any such refreshments during a business meeting.

The older man took a small sip and sighed with pleasure.

“This particular wine is made with waters from Amban Aluir in Mealamin.” he told them and then took one more sip, sighed and set the goblet down. The Sylvari in the group would of course know that Amban Aluir was one of the natural wonders of the world, perhaps the most stunningly beautiful waterfall in existence. The waters were said to be purified by the gods themselves and were purported to have wondrous healing properties.

With the group seated and goblets filled, the young servant boy withdrew and closed the doors behind him leaving those within to talk about the proposed assignment.
For the next several minutes the Chief Liberian told them why he had called them here. In the end it was to ‘recover’ something called the Compendium of Sren. For Crow, being one that had no time for magic in his role as the parties Pathfinder looked to Alana the party’s ‘expert’ on magic.

"I take it that the item cannot be gathered by normal methods. The owner is not interested in selling it or your own people would have retrieved it. Who exactly has it and what manner of procurement do you authorize? I am sure that we can come to some agreement on fair compensation for our efforts, yes?" The parties Mage then waited a moment before adding,

"By the way, have you had a chance to donate to the orphanage this month?"

Once again Crow had to try hard to keep a grin from his face as the party’s present situational leader and negotiator began to work her magic once more.......

Honestly what Aryn said about being Leader was my intent from the start.

Instead of spending a week or two with each player saying "I'm not the Leader, Well I don't want to be Leader" It was easier for me to say I'll be the Leader and then someone would eventually say do we really need a Leader. Then it would be decided not to really have a Leader but to have a per situation Leader depending on what we find ourselves in and let the best character for the job be the Leader. So in that way we are all the Leader.

Sorry Keeper seems we will have more then one Leader and be better off for it.

I know some of you are saying "Yeah rt Tann is full of BS he really wanted to be leader". Actually no I did not and here's why.

As a Ranger Pathfinder most of the time I'll be 10-30 yards in front of the party
Hmmm kinda hard to be party leader and give orders from that far away. So now that we have that settled lets move on.

Vanadia but Wolf was mad that these two carpet junkies were having sex on a shuttle he considers part of Rocinante and thus part of him as the ship's mechanic. So yeah he got a little rough. As it's clear I misread Loki's post as to who was on top it's quite possible I would have grabbed the old guy instead of the girl and tossed him out the shuttle door.

However per the last line in your above post, about having to carefully consider your actions, I really don't know what to say to that.

Yet with all the good things in my life right now animosity is the last thing I need or want and for sure not over a ingame post with you my friend. Before I cause yet another game of Roger's to crash because of my words, I'm willing to walk away if you want me too. Just let me know.

Ok I’m in the middle of working on my post and just realized our individual races are not listed. I think we would know who was a Khord or a Syl like me.

Also here is a possible compromise for party leader. I’ll take the job in the out of city/town area’s as I am a Ranger Pathfinder and best suited of the party in the wilds. However we do need someone better suited to take over as leader and negotiator for the party within city walls as Crow sucks inside them overall. I vote for Alana as leader in town as she has already started to bargain on the parties behalf and she was approached first.

I leave this idea up to the other players as no one really seems to want the job.

Normally I would never treat a women the way I did with 'Amber'. However on my first post I was playing off Loki's post about seeing the girl sticking a needle like thingi in the old guy’s neck so I figured she was either killing him or robbing him using the sex as a diversion so I slammed her in the face with the butt of the JC.

Once I was told differently, that I had not seen the needle, I played it as two drugged up people having sex and the only way to separate them was forcefully so I grabbed her and threw her out of the shuttle. If that makes Wolf the bad guy in my posts I apologize, but I still would have posted as I did.
