Hey, I was checking the character thread, and realized that my armor entry is incomplete. I'm quite certain that Roger approved that Arien's plate has a +5 vs anal invasion attacks.

I figured as much, Roger... but it was worth asking.
I agree, Eol. A sensible person would leave the huntermissiles to their own fate and deal with the monsters first.
Arien has never been horribly sensible. Did you miss the silver screen stuff? Somebody needs help, and he has the power to offer it. He'll do so at the peril to his own life, and be glad for the chance. It's a nigh certainty that one day, it will get him killed.
Someday, in some afterlife, a former paladin is going to get an education. They might have been better at following the rules, but Arien gets it.

Thanks a lot, Eol.
Oh DM, live forever! Thou didst not answer my query regarding the portable hole - can Arien possibly deploy it in time to use it as a makeshift net? Or will he need to just make an effort to catch an elf?

This may be pushing it too far, but two more questions, please.
One - I'm assuming that the hunters have been hurled in a path that puts their trajectories at least somewhat close together. Is that correct?
Two - if #1 is correct, would it be possible for Arien to drop and deploy his portable hole in time to use as a makeshift net to possibly save more than one of them? If not, could he deploy the thing at all so as to give himself a better chance of catching at least one?
Yes, they will suffocate inside of it, but they have a full turn to do so. If it's possible to open the thing quickly enough, that's a way better chance to save at least one, if not more.
Hey, you said this game was high on fantasy and magic, low on realism. This is the stuff of bard songs.

Oh DM, live forever. I'm assuming that it is impossible to catch any of the falling victims?

I don't know anything about the NFL. This is obscene.
Let's be honest, I don't pretend to really know (or even have a good feeling) about who will win every game. But even on games that I have a good feeling about, games that - in years past - I would have gotten way more right than wrong... this year, I'm consistently missing them.
It's crazy.
Then again, I honestly thought that Auburn was an excellent team, and just a couple of brain freezes away from being a contender for the college national championship. After Saturday against Georgia, it's obvious that, in fact, Auburn is really just not that good.
So what do I know?

My understanding was that Arien and Lun would fly/levitate, cut down a victim, carry to a third person, have Jarenion cast. Drop the victims (Arien cuts down #3). We repeat that process, uses two castings.

Topic: Continuing Where We Last Left Off Again Subject: bait...
The party discussed the plan. Arien and Lun would move up and help to cut down the hunters, Jarenion would cast his spells to ease their descent. The thought of leeches was revolting, but of greater worry was the overall situation.
To the knight, this was obviously a trap. And yet, there was no way they could bypass it in good conscience; just hours ago, Arien had bid his son to help those who could not help themselves; he could not have dreamed up a situation that met that criteria any more obviously.
And so, they would spring the trap, and deal with the consequences a they came. Still, they need not do so unaware.
"Beware, my friends," the knight spoke in a clipped tone. "I would bet my spurs that this is a trap... not that it changes anything."
With a word, Liun'naur ignited into blue flame, and the knight began to levitate up.

Are you nuts? If these guys have been dropped by leeches outside the dungeon, they are going to be less than useless to us inside. At best, they soak a few HD of damage.
Then, they die.
Then, we have their blood on our hands.
If they insist on going along (it's their idea), Arien would not deny them... but there's a reason Yolanda summoned what amounts to a group of heroes, rather than send more nameless hunters to save her son.

We still have to cut them down. If Lun is strong enough, she could cut a hunter down at the same time Arien does. they meet at hunter #3, mage casts feather fall, three hunters are affected and can drop without harm.
We could do it with two castings of the spell instead of three, and get it done faster. I say fly away!

Sure enough, it's too far apart. This is going to be complicated, no matter what we do.
Arien can levitate them down one at a time, as well. For that matter, we could cut it to three castings - knight cuts one down, carries him to victim #2. Cast spell to affect both, cut #2 down, let both drop. Rinse and repeat.
Assuming that cutting them down is that simple, and Arien doesn't get overrun with magical brain leeches.

If it was easy, we'd be bored.
Feather fall ought to be ideal. Your mage has way more than enough juju to make this work for six hunters.
Then, of course, comes removing the leaches...

Not enough to be monsters. Oh, no. Roger has to go and set an obvious trap that we can't ignore.
Okay. Arien can levitate up to cut them down, though cutting through ropes of leeches sounds like a crap idea. It would be six trips, though; he's strong enough to hold a hunter in each hand, but there's no way he's gonna sheath his sword right now.
Eol, do you have a way to magically lower them to safety if Arien cuts them down in one pass?
I don't know how we'll begin to remove magical leeches. I expect this will be tricky, and we're gonna get hurt. Either the leeches themselves are gonna give us a bad time, or the hunters are bait.
Or both.
Ideas?

Topic: MiB 3 Subject: MiB 3
From what I knew, this movie has been viewed as something of a turkey. Understand, I loved the original MiB, and the sequel was still entertaining. I figured that I'd enjoy #3 well enough, but the negative buzz it earned (oh no! time travel!) kept me away.
Well, my wife had DVRed this one on some free Starz weekend (or the like), and last night, we watched it.
It was campy. It was sometimes silly. It was often over the top.
In other words, it was perfectly true to the franchise.
It's no Schindler's List, but for a fun popcorn action flick, you can do WAY worse.
