Topic: Continuing Where We Last Left Off Subject: trees good! fire BAD!
Arien enters the room to find his friends hard pressed by both Greens and green men. Since they seem to be currently handling the former, he goes after the latter, apparently with more success than his comrades have enjoyed thus far.
Attacking the tree-men brings back memories of Duke Antonio and the various abominations encountered there. Why is it that men feel the need to conduct such horrific experiments against the very laws of nature itself?
Having seen how his flaming blade affects the green men, the knight feels confident, but by no means cocky - the decapitated bullywug cast aside like so much garbage is testament to the damage these creatures can obviously deal. Still, the field never goes to the timid, but to the bold and the brave. He will not shirk away from these monsters.
Arien will, obviously, fight until he either wins or is unable to continue. He will press the attack, hoping not only to maximize his damage, but to keep the beasties from attacking his comrades. Time to carry his weight here!

Topic: yet another movie thread... Subject: **warning! save time from your life!*
Last weekend, I made a terrible mistake - I actually paid money to see the movie "Bug". The critics had given it pretty good reviews, the public less so, but I figured, what the hey? Horror movie? Invisible bugs under your skin? I can dig it!
Well, let me warn you now - save your money and the two hours of your life. DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE!
Spoliers follow, so beware! That being said, you should probably read them - I don't believe in spoilers, normally.
The scene from the trailer that shows the guy with the bug crawling under his skin? Does not exist in the actual film at any point in time. Yep, nothing but a trailer bit, made to bring in viewers. In other words, false advertisement.
This movie is NOT about killer bugs in any shape, form, or fashion. What is IS about is a paranoid schitzophrenic who manages to get a very lonely woman sucked into his delusions.
This movie is NOT a horror flick in any shapem form, or fashion. It IS a wannabe pshycological thriller (and I use th eterm loosely).
The crazy guy is kinda cool in a quirky way, but.... eegh. The movie resorts to showing more than a tiny bit of nudity in an effort to keep your attention, but it still fails miserably. This was the closest I have ever come to leaving a theatre once I have paid for tickets. The most entertainment I had during this film was from the loud teenagers around us who kept mocking the complete stupidity that was Bug.

Both characters have existing histories. I'm pretty sure that En'Aranthea's calls for her to be an only child.

My mistake. When I saw your character class filled in as "barbarian", I assumed warrior, and kinda glossed over the clerical stuff. If Addy does come through with a druid, we'll have healing galore!

Down to one character left - a cleric. Admiral has stated that he is, in fact, doing a druid character for us today.

For someone with no proported interest in this game, you sure do ask a lot of questions!
I personally would have recommended going with a rogue, but no one submitted one. If I got an awesome submision, I suppose I could bump th eparty up to six members.
Jozan is playing the half orc barbarian - check the first page of this thread for an updated roster.

I did indeed get it. I think it will work fine. If we need to edit a tad, we will, but we'll go as is for now.
That's it for muscle, guys! Need spell slingers only now.

No magic items at third level. Remember, I see Audalis as a relatively low magic world, at least in regards to permanent magic items.

Lots of posted interest, but no character sheets have been sent to me!
I have confirmed the two positions I mentioned before - sylvari male ranger, sylvari female bladesinger. That's two warrior types. We still need a mage and a cleric, at the least.

I'll adjust the game a bit, then. 3rd level characters (4th for rogues). If you are thinking of a multiclass, run it by me for the exact level.

Topic: The Guiding Light Recruitment Thread (formerly known as A New D&D game - players needed) Subject: A new D&D game - players needed
Greetz, one and all!
Since the demise of the games I was participating in - largely due to my own dissapearance, I know - I find myself needing a new game to run. And so, I am now actively seeking players for a new 2nd edition D&D game set in my own world of Audalis.
What's that you say? You don't know anything about Audalis, or about 2nd edition D&D? Not to worry. We have a ton of Audalis info here on the site... though to be quite honest, it won't impact you that much if you don't want to learn about the setting. As for 2nd edition D&D, have no fear - I'll be glad to help you with your character, if you need it. Bottom line is that you need a desire to play a character - the rule stuff will take care of itself.
Here's the basics: I'm looking for 4-5 characters of 3rd level. While any alignment, race, and/or class is technically okay, please note that I strongly prefer good or neutral characters. If you wish to be evil, you need to still be able to be part of a team; I have no desire to moderate intraparty combat.
Stats should be rolled using the 4d6, drop low die, arrange to taste method (if you don't know what this means, ask me - I'll help!). Use the Red Dragon Character Sheet (located in the vault) for your characters, please. Feel free to add all needed typical nonmagic equipment for your character (armor up to chain, a weapon plus a backup weapon, assorted side items, etc). I will give you your cash totals.
I reserve the right to refuse characters that are too powerful (suuuure you rolled two 18s, two 17s, and a low of 11 for your charisma score!), and similarly reserve the right to make slight adjustments of any sort to stats as I see fit. Do note, however, that your characters are potential heroes, so I expect them to be a cut above the average person, ability-wise.
Also, please note that I have granted right of first refusal for those in my defunct Ripples of the Past game.
I would like to get two posts per player, per week - a minimum of one post per week is required. You need not write novelas as your posts, but please note that the following is NOT a good post.
Yarg hates orcs. As soon as he sees them, he attacks.
Everyone should be able to muster two to three short paragraphs as a typical post. If this is too much, you probably won't enjoy my game.
Mages! The Tides of Magic are in full effect (see Audalis documentation for details). Clerics! Please be sure to select an appropriate Audalisian deity for your character. It would not hurt to choose a particular sect for your cleric, if applicable, though this is not strictly required.
Our game will be set in the southern area of the Taskarren Coast, almost to Macoran Bay - in other words, in lands usually considered to be, by and large - wilds. The party members will know one another, though as to how well is up in the air.
Any further questions, please ask. We'll start as soon as we have a full group.

Topic: yet another movie thread... Subject: blockbusters...
Saw both Pirates and Shrek this weekend.
Green guy was a lot of fun, pretty much what you'd expect.
Pirates.
Enjoyed the heck out of the film, which, I suppose, is the point of movies. Great effects, storyline kept going and going. Answered a lot of questions, but threw in some extra stuff that just wasn't needed.
Did anyone else see the purpose in the Calypso angle? They spent so much time on it, only to have what felt like (to me) no real resolution at all. Why even bring it in? I didn't think it changed anything one iota.
I do have to give it to them, nice twist at the end. I wasn't expecting it, and I can usually see these things way before they happen.
The first is still my favorite - the novelty was great - but I have enjoyed all three. If they decide to do number four (which the left the door open for), I'll be there on opening weekend again, once more wearing my pirate bandana.
Yep - I wore a pirate bandana, as did my daughter. My son wore a pirate hat and a hook on his hand. Only Donna was too cool to dress up at least a bit.
