Topic: The Guiding Light Q&A
Subject: poor doggy

Dog is still alive and awake, but his eyes are quickly going glassy. He's whimpering softly, but seems unable to move - the bolt is deep in his chest.

12th Pfier (Fallday), 452 E.R.
Wilderness north of Crall's Shoal, western Antaron

Two two scruffy men break in different directions. Fearing a trap, the two sylvari warriors elect to not persue, though Tal does send Dog after them.

Varuna calls out to Lysora for aid, and the goddess answers - a split second after loosing another bolt (that flies wildly off target), the man finds his limbs stiffened by divine magic, and he is literally frozen in place.

Faster than any human, Dog closes easily in the second attacker... who calmly kneels, takes aim, and buries a crossbow bolt into the charging animal. Dog screams in agony, breaks stride, and tumbles head over heels into a nearby ditch. The assailant doesn't even bother to acknowlege the fact; he simply resumes his all out flight, heedless of Dog, the party, or his companion's plight.

Sorry, folks... you didn't provide enough fodder for me to assume actions beyond the first round.

Dog is not dead, but is critically injured. The first attacked is held firmly by Lysora's power; the second has all but disappeared into the dusk.

I figured that you were posting, but yeah, I wanted folks to be able to read over the weekend. We can handle any fallout of Charlie's discovery via backpost... I don't think it will keep the team from taking the window for the flight.

May 8th, 2025
WhiteHorse Military Base, Antarctica - 1630

GM's note: figured there was no need to drag this out forever. If you've missed something, we can backpost, but I say it's time to get this show on the road!

Right before sixteen hundred hours, Chogan is dispatched to the barracks to let you know that your chopper is ready to go. "Better hoof it, guys... command says another storm'll be rolling in soon," he tells you.

A half hour later, the entire team (and your gear) are stowed inside a UH-60S Black Hawk combat assault helicopter. The Black Hawks are beginning to be phased out these days, but their long and distinguished service record sees many still in use throughout the globe... and the pentagon apparently sees no need to upgrade at the bottom of the earth. A Lieutenant Hagar grins a greeting as you strap in.

The earth falls away behind you, and soon, all signs of civilization are gone. Hagar navigates the featureless white waste by aid of instument, humming along tunelessly to a radio playing 1980's hair metal.

Twenty odd minutes into your flight, he signals. "We'll be to the LZ before long... folks, there's another storm coming in. I have enough time to drop you off and skidaddle before it hits, so I can't hang around."

You watch as Hagar again rechecks his instruments. "I’m still not picking up the station’s beacon. But it should be right over the next ridge."

You peer through the cockpit window, anxious to see something else beside the endless plains of ice and snow below.

The lieutenant gasps in amazement.

Below you, the station at last comes into view, but nothing like you expected. A shimmering blue dome encompasses the station, as well as the ice field surrounding it. Flickering beneath the swirling blue colors you spy a silent Antarctic Research Facility 36.

"I can’t get any readings from inside that barrier," the pilot states, "but it doesn’t look solid." He points to the snowfall passing through the field. "It also looks like the station still has power. But I’m not going to risk landing inside that blue thing. I can drop you off on that ridge over there. But you have to decide soon; I need to get moving."

I railroaded Yali into the same transport as the rest of the lawbreaker portion of the party... sue me. Her bluff went well, but being so noticeable, instead of quiet like a good bystander, gets her special treatment.

And gives me a convenient way to merge the party!

After resisting this forever (stubborn as a what did you say?), I have changed the way the forums display messages.

If you do not indicate a page that you'd like to jump to, you are taken to the last page of a topic - in other words, you can ready the most recent posts first.

If you would rather do it the old way, go to your profile (View/Edit your Profile link at the bottom of every page) and check the box that says "Default to thread start?".

You're now defaulting to the most recent page.

Enjoy!

Yali stares down the TDF officer and makes her point, even as Dime cooperates with the request to stand down. Two armored troopers move as quickly as possible to Damanil's side, and begin administering first aid to the wounded "soldier".

The wiry commander regards Yali cooly. "Interesting observations, all. I wonder, though, what business is it of a bounty hunter like yourself?" He pauses for a moment, then gestures at a solider. "Check his weapon, see if he's telling the truth."

GM's note: assuming Yali complies...

The soldeir gives the thumbs up, and the weapon is returned to the bounty hunter. The commander speaks to Yali once more before tending to the rest of the situation. "Were we not on riot duty, bounty hunter, I'd fine you the hundred credits myself for carrying military grade arms without the proper permit. But since you appear to be uninvolved in this incident, I will ignore it this time." He then turns to assess the situation across the street.

"Get these bodies out of here!" he orders. "Take the last one into custody, I want to know what is going on, here." The commander glances back at the party members. "Relieve them of their weapons, see to their wounds, and transport them back to HQ for questioning. Debrief the trooper, get his take on the matter, as well."

The unconscious form of Caise is carried via litter to a waiting personnel carrier, to which Damanil is already being escorted. Another trooper revcovers Dime's blaster and prompts him toward the same carrier.

"Um... if you will come this way, please?" a trooper asks Yali with a somewhat unsure tone. Notoriety has its perks, apparently.

A med tech hops in theback and begins to work on Caise, and the doors are slammed shut - and locked. Momentarily, the carrier hovers up and off towards TDF HQ.

We have members of the Inn literally from all over the world. My wife suggested to me that it might be fun to compile a listing of locations, and have each member add their name and location to the list.

So here's how it works: copy the following text into your own post, but add your name to the appropriate state (or country). That way, we can keep up by simply reading the last post in the thread.

If your country/province is missing, please add it!
