Topic: where did the webmaster go? Subject: where did the webmaster go?
Hello all.
Sorry for my disappearance. I'm not quite ready to rejoin daily activity here, but I wanted to let you all know where I have been, and why.
As many of you know, I took my family to Walt Disney World at the end of January. It was a big, long-anticipated trip - eleven days, ten nights of magic in store for us.
Life has a funny way of twisting things around on you.
I got crazy busy the last few days before the trip, ended up staying up very late the night before we were to leave, and delaying my trip several hours that day, trying to help tie up some loose ends at my day job. We finally got underway, ready for that magical trip!
The first couple of days went fine. On day three, we were enjoying extra magic hours at Disney's Hollywood Studios, waiting for our turn on the new Toy Story Midway Mania, when we got a call from my mother in law's number. A friend of the family was on the phone, wanting to speak to me, refusing to speak to my wife.
Donna's twenty-eight year old brother had died. No cause, no explanation - he simply went to bed and did not wake up.
We looked very seriously at our options, but Donna's family begged us to not come home - there was nothing we could do, the trip was for the kids (Caleb's twelfth birthday was to be celebrated there), etc. So we stayed. I'm still not sure it was the right call.
The rest of the trip was understandably dampened - Donna crying a LOT, spending lots of time on the phone with family, trying to figure out what happened, what to do, etc.
Towards the end of our trip, I got a call from work, needing me to do something for them (VERY unusual). I paid the $10 for internet access, ran the report they needed.
So, we came home, and it was like being hit with the news all over again. Then, it decided to pour, rather than just rain.
My work denied my request for two days bereavement leave, and insisted I come in. They met with me and placed me on administrative leave. A little over a week later, they fired me.
I have now been out of work for four weeks. I have been working very long hours doing contract work, and have been living in a pretty depressing environment overall. Sorry, folks, I'm just not feeling the creative juices right now.
Things are looking up - I have an interview in two weeks for a position I am very well qualified for. I have done well enough on the contract work to survive.
I hope to be back very soon.

Topic: Speed of Games Subject: time of year
Thsi site is always cyclical - things go in hot and cold cycles.
That being said, we just finsihed the slowest period of the year for internet traffic. this week was slow for me personally because the post holiday crunch has begun - things that were put aside for the holidays are now due.
We'll pick up soon, we usually do.

Check us out, two normal strips this week, right on schedule! The latest, of course, being's today's update: #43, of Plans and Bait.
As always, please feel free to share your comments and criticisms. I have one comment - I think that Tiana has really started to nail some fo the more subtle expressions... I love the look on Tim's face in panel nine.
Also, please reddit the comic. Comments are great, but please click the up arrow at the top left, near the title of the comic. This is always a huge way to expose the comic to new readers - we can easily get five hundred visits from reddit alone!

Holidays have kicked my butt. I keep resolving to get a post up and the game bumped, but have not done so as of yet.
I'll try to resolve this ASAP.

Nah, just factual. Reddit is a troll hive, but a good day there nets new readers...
Heh, I really loved the guy a while back that slammed me for my "deus ex machina" of letting Ladan turn the undead.
In a D&D comic.
Yeah.

We now return to our regular plotline! Strip #42 is up and live. As always, please share your comments and criticisms here.
We are moving to a Tuesday/Friday update schedule. Also note a slightly smaller text size - done in an effort to stop my horrible speech bubbles from hiding so much of the awesome comic art.
If you enjoy Loaded Dice, please reddit this comic. We'd love a comment, but please be sure to click the up arrow at the top left of the page, near the comic title. Thanks for helping us introduce the comic to new readers!

Topic: Loaded Dice #41: Happy New Year 2010 Subject: Loaded Dice #41: Happy New Year 2010
Today's strip is a filler poster - aren't you so lucky? Still, this is the very slowest week of the year for webcomic traffic, so this is as good a time as any. Plus, it's a holiday. Regular strips to resume next week.
If you'd like, please reddit the comic, but I don't expect this strip to do very well there - the howling leagions of trolls should vote it down in no time.
Of course, your comments and criticisms are always welcomed here.

Topic: Loaded Dice #40: the Wisdom of Han Solo Subject: aha
I guess that I should post the rules for the game on my comments for the comic.
Dirty Santa works like this: everyone brings a wrapped gift - often a gag or joke gift, or a gift around a given theme. Numbers are drawn to determine the order in which gifts are opened.
On your turn, you can either choose to open a new gift, or steal a gift that someone else has opened. The person who has their gift stolen must either open a new gift or steal from someone else (but they may not steal their gift back from you). Often, a limit is placed on the number of thefts per round.
It's a lot of holiday fun.

Today's update - the Christmas strip - is FINALLY up and live. All fault on me, Tiana had it done in time, but I missed it due to holiday insanity.
I loved this script quite a lot. *I* think it's hilarious, feel free to disagree (and as always, please comment and criticize here!).
If you like Loaded Dice, please reddit the comic - this is such a great way to expose us to new users.

The holidays have killed our update schedule. Tiana managed to knock out the Christmas strip on time, but I didn't get it, thanks to festive insanity.
I still plan to run it today - it's too fun to miss. I have asked for a teensy edit, we'll see if she can accomodate.
Sorry for the slowness in updates!
