Topic: Would you like to write for the Inn? Subject: sure
Reviews would be absolutely appropriate. If we get enough of them, we could set up a category for reviews. Systems, individual products... you name it.

Both of the above sound good. I think that "feeler threads" are a great way to do it - input from other folks can always be useful.

Topic: Would you like to write for the Inn? Subject: did I virtually stutter?
Flanker, if you want to discuss the legalities of the TOS further, PM me, or email me directly. This thread was created to recruit folks who'd like to contribute content to the site. I don't appreciate the continued derailment.
If you don't want to post something, don't post it. It's that simple. That way, you never have to worry about Scrooge McDuck coming along and making me an offer that I can't refuse so that he can mine all of the creative gold from these forums and turn it into his series of bestsellers.

Topic: Would you like to write for the Inn? Subject: that's just about enough, thanks.
Of your first four posts, one was a warning to others that the site claimed their stuff as property, and one was the following:
In the interest of honesty... don't you think you ought to mention that everything posted on the site becomes copyrighted by the site?
It's the second paragraph in the TOS that you must scroll past to join the site. If that's not mentioning the policy, then I don't know what is. Would you prefer that I send an email to each new member? Pop this up before every post on the forums?
I do NOT claim copyright, as you infer - I claim the right to keep posts made on the forum up on the forum, for the express reasons I listed in an earlier post.
Furthermore, you might read the TOS statement again - you joined this thread to insinuate that my asking people to write articles for the site would result in me stealing their work. Note that the TOS applies to the FORUMS and CHAT only.
I've been accused of reading in something that isn't there. "In the interest of honesty" is a pretty clear implication that I am being something less than honest.
I've run this site for eleven years. I have never stolen an idea or passed off anything posted here as my own.
Drop the issue now. I ruin this site because I enjoy the community, not because I have any interest in dealing with some faceless yahoo who thinks to tweak me. If you want to be a member of the community, great. If you want to continue to play the troll, do it somewhere else. This subject is closed.
That goes for the rest of you - no need to keep responding to this nonsense. I sincerely appreciate the support, but there's been enough gasoline thrown on this fire. Drop it, and let's move on.

Actually, posting it in any forum is a bad idea. Too easy for someone to copy/paste. Then, you have to sue them - if you can even figure out who they are. Can you compel the website to reveal their identity? Does the website even have that information?
Do you have the money and time to do this?
Yeah, the evil thieving Red Dragon Inn is the least of your worries.

Topic: Would you like to write for the Inn? Subject: tone...
Perhaps I mistook you or treated you unfairly.
Then again, the post that I responded to was #4 on the site for you.. and was the second post griping about how rdinn.net was going to steal your character ideas and such.
For the record, I do respond poorly to thinly veiled suggestions that I am some sort of IP thief trying to rip off my membership.
If you are so concerned about your intellectual property that you don't feel comfortable posting in a game here - especially after I have explained exactly why the TOS is worded the way that it is... well, perhaps you shouldn't post in any games here.
I own this site. I am telling you in no uncertain terms why the TOS is worded in the way that it is. I am telling you in no uncertain terms that I have never attempted, nor will I ever attempt, to take someone's characters or stories and present them as my own - for profit or any other reason. Change in the atmosphere, my eye.
To take my earlier suggestion a step further - if you are so anti-rdinn, why would you want to keep coming here? I'm quite certain that you can find another forum that suits your interests better.
Now, back to my evil plan to make millions off of the items posted on this message board!
Please note - the final sentence above is SARCASM.

Topic: Would you like to write for the Inn? Subject: in the interest of Wheaton's law...
...don't you think that you should carefully read the TOS?
That applies only to items posted on the forums - and anytime anyone has ever had a question about it, we have never tried to enforce that clause in any sort of draconian fashion. That clause is there, more than anything else, to prevent players from "taking their ball and going home".
Most of the forum games take months, even years, to run. If a player becomes dissatisfied and wants to delete all of their posts, it can really damage the enjoyment of a game for everyone else.
We have NEVER attempted to present anyone's ideas as our own, or tried to profit from them in any way. Furthermore, every single article posted on the site fully credits the author of the article. Before we post it, we make sure that the author actually WANTS us to do so.
Neither your suggestion nor your tone are appreciated, Flanker.

I have received intriguing responses specifically for cleric and rogue. I'm not saying that you someone else couldn't fill these spots, but I am leaning towards the concepts already sent to me.

Ray can drive anyone up the wall. He can be as single-minded as Brad - "kill them all!". He can fixate on any tangent, realor imagined.
Or he can do his best to avoid anything resembling a plot... just because he feels like it.

There is no deadline yet. I'll be out of town the first week of August, so I can't see starting before then.
I have received a couple of solid character concepts so far... but only from one person. If you have an idea, please PM me.

Well, sort of. Today was to be the day that RPG Myth Brakers debuted as a stand alone comic - no more a simple fill in for Loaded Dice.
However, work has killed me today. I am still working on this. Keep your eyes open!

Topic: A new D&D game? Subject: lots of questions...
Wow, the response is quite flattering, folks.
As for the Zombie game... I dearly loved that game. I wonder if I could get the interest to pick it back up?
Now, for this one...
Good or neutral aligned only, unless you can give me a superb reason otherwise (you probably cannot). I like to run games of heroes, or at least of normal people trying heroic feats... I'm no much for PCs stabbing one another, stealing from one another, and the like.
No need to email results to me. If you wish to roll your own stats you may do so on the honor system. Note that if I feel a character is too powerful (or, less likely, not powerful enough), I reserve the right to adjust as I see fit.
I'm thinking a low level adventure... maybe level two or three.
Kits? I will approve on a case by case basis. I like goos storytelling, I don't like people trying to "win" with over the top kits.
If playing a cleric or similar, please note that this WILL be an Audalis game - pick an appropriate deity, please.
If youare interested in paying, note that you do NOT need to know 2e. Come up with a character concept, and I will help you with the statting. Note that 2e is a vastly simpler system in many respects (no feats, no at will powers, etc), and well suited to forum play.

Topic: A new D&D game? Subject: well...
Perhaps, if you are interested, you should start putting together a character concept.
This will be old school, houseruled 2nd edition D&D. Stats can be done by rolling 4d6, dropping the low number, and arranged to taste. However, stats are of secondary importance - I'm looking for interesting character concepts, here.
If we do go forward with this, I'd be probably looking for 1-2 posts per week. I don't need novellas per post, but I do need a couple of short paragraphs per post. More than "My guys hits the orc", please.
