Well, the Gruggster gained on me a bit, it appears, but since I knocked down ten more picks, I should still be comfortably in first place.

Have no fear, Hammer. Zombies are coming. Just that I have a D&D itch, too, and a dungeon crawl is pretty easy to run.

A dragon in the first room? C'mon, I've never done that!

Cheese whiz. You kill a few (dozen) PCs, and you start getting some kind of reputation...

Can't wait to follow this game. I've been itching to do a dungeon crawl, myself. Might have to cast the net out and see what's left after Alacrity hauls you all in.

That might be because thou hast been sucking of late, fair Gruggster.

Yep, I'ma gunna trash talk while up four measly picks. Though I *do* seem to be finding the top of the board pretty regularly...

Ahem, enough. On to this week's picks.

Carolina @ Tampa Bay
NY Giants @ Philadelphia
Dallas @ Detroit
Buffalo @ New Orleans
Miami @ New England
Cleveland @ Kansas City
San Francisco vs. Jacksonville
Pittsburgh @ Oakland
NY Jets @ Cincinnati
Atlanta @ Arizona
Washington @ Denver
Green Bay @ Minnesota
Seattle @ St Louis

Couple of these picks really bother me. Not knowing who Philly will have at QB is worrisome. Picking the Jets, Raiders, and Cardinals is likewise worrisome.

I may change a couple of these; we'll see.

Almost went with Jets and Steelers. Best I can do now is nine, and I'm having to pull for the woeful Giants to get even that.

Two mind boggling items from yesterday:

I hate the Patriots as much as any sensible sports fan should, but they got robbed on that penalty. Serious, the first time it's ever been called in the NFL, and they do it on a game-changing overtime kick... and on a questionable application of the rule, at that? Sounds like some refs had money on the Jets.

And really, John Fox? Manning drives you the length of the field. Indy cannot stop your passing game. You are down two scores with three and a half minutes to go, and you run the ball with the backup running back (who has a history of fumbleitis)? Fox was a moron in Carolina, nice to know that having a massively talented team hasn't changed that fact.

Also, not NFL... but note that Gus has taken the dumpster fire that was Auburn football and made them way better, way sooner, than they have a right to be. War Eagle.

Time to extend my lead. Let's take a look at this week's slate.

Seattle @ Arizona
Houston @ Kansas City
San Diego @ Jacksonville
Cincinnati @ Detroit
St Louis @ Carolina
Buffalo @ Miami
New England @ NY Jets
Dallas @ Philadelphia
Chicago @ Washington
Tampa Bay @ Atlanta
San Francisco @ Tennessee
Cleveland @ Green Bay
Baltimore @ Pittsburgh
Denver @ Indianapolis
Minnesota @ NY Giants

Hrm. Found myself called to pick a couple of upsets (for some reason, Jacksonville called to me for a minute or three), but here we go.

The Texas game truly surprised me - I honestly thought they were a good team in a bad slump. Getting murdered like that at home to a very mediocre Rams team makes me think again.

But hey, I got eleven right yesterday, and feel good about my Monday night pick.

Looks like my trepidation for last week was justified. I feel better about this week... which likely means that I'm in for some humbling. We'll see.

NY Giants @ Chicago
Detroit @ Cleveland
Cincinnati @ Buffalo
St Louis @ Houston
Oakland @ Kansas City
Carolina @ Minnesota
Pittsburgh @ NY Jets
Philadelphia @ Tampa Bay
Green Bay @ Baltimore
Jacksonville @ Denver
Tennessee @ Seattle
New Orleans @ New England
Arizona @ San Francisco
Washington @ Dallas
Indianapolis @ San Diego

I haven't checked the lines, but I feel like I've gone pretty much with all favorites. Now I'm feeling less confident. :-/

I knew it would be a stupid weekend, and it was. Still, I'm not happy with a lousy eight correct.

Share of the lead is nice, though. Couple of coaches had any sense, I would have had 10 or 11. I'm looking at you, Atanta, trying to run up the middle with your scatback behind that crap O-line instead of taking the three points on the chip shot field goal. Bet that los by two really sting now, doesn't it?

I think that Bills win that game if they don't end up relying on an undrafted rookie free agent to be the QB.

Again, I am *hating* this week. So many games that seem like they could go either way.

Sigh. Here goes nuthin'.

Buffalo at Cleveland
New Orleans at Chicago
New England at Cincinnati
Jacksonville at St. Louis
Baltimore at Miami
Philadelphia at NY Giants
Detroit at Green Bay
Kansas City at Tennessee
Seattle at Indianapolis
Carolina at Arizona
San Diego at Oakland
Denver at Dallas
Houston at San Francisco
NY Jets at Atlanta

There are a couple of these that I feel really wishy washy about.

Also... either Ody or I are going to be pretty happy after this weekend. We agreed on very few picks!

Product launch here at work. Almost back to human hours. You don't want a zombie running this game!

I feel ya, Gruggles. I made a couple of picks I knew that I shouldn't have made.

Of course, I believe that I'm right around #1 for this whole thing, so there is genius in my madness.

Maybe.

Also... I REALLY don't like this week's lineup of games. Ick.

Go ahead and put me down for ten more wins. Would have had a couple more if not for stupidity (I'm looking at you, Texans, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory).

That's more like it... my Niners playing Niner football! Cram it down their throats with the run, smother them on defense.

I believe that the Eagles have some scouts down here at a local high school in the hopes of improving their defensive talent. And the Broncos are historically hot (maybe good enough to go undefeated)... this game feels like as close to a lock as you get in the NFL. But if Ody wants to build in an automatic 0-1, who am I to argue?

Anyway...

San Francisco @ St Louis
Chicago @ Detroit
Cincinnati @ Cleveland
Seattle @ Houston
Indianapolis @ Jacksonville
NY Giants @ Kansas City
Pittsburgh vs. Minnesota
Arizona @ Tampa Bay
Baltimore @ Buffalo
NY Jets @ Tennessee
Dallas @ San Diego
Philadelphia @ Denver
Washington @ Oakland
New England @ Atlanta
Miami @ New Orleans

I really wanted to come back and change my Miami vs Indy pick last week, but was unsure of the etiquette. And of course, my Niners laid a massive egg.

Okay, for this week:

Kansas City @ Philadelphia
Cleveland @ Minnesota
St Louis @ Dallas
Green Bay @ Cincinnati
Tampa Bay @ New England
Arizona @ New Orleans
San Diego @ Tennessee
Detroit @ Washington
NY Giants @ Carolina
Houston @ Baltimore
Atlanta @ Miami
Jacksonville @ Seattle
Indianapolis @ San Francisco
Buffalo @ NY Jets
Chicago @ Pittsburgh
Oakland @ Denver

A couple of these (Detroit, I'm looking at you) make me feel squirrelly, but we'll see how it goes.

Ray Lewis is a conspiracy theorizing moron.

Da Bears? Heh, I like Cutler pretty well. I remember being ten years old and thinking that Jim McMahon was perhaps the coolest guy on the planet.

I would be a Niners fan, good sir. I'm still not over us not running the ball at the end of the Super Bowl, nor am I over Baltimore getting away with blatant pass interference in the end zone.

Ahem.
