What? No "If the others run and leave Mac, Ted will defend him", or "Ted will move his wrinkly butt, also"?

Yes, that is quite helpful. Scary, but helpful.

I was going to send this via PM, but think it's better if I post it.

Meredith:

Amber has a clear path to the front of the store; with the broken out glass, she'll be able to easily flee (provided she is not ambushed along the way).

Will she stop in front of the store? Will she keep running? If so, how far? In what direction?

I really do not want to decide this for Amber. If you want to state that she's too panicy to make a logical decision, I'll leave it up to the dice. I don't want anyone thinking that I am either (a) trying to lead a player to their death or (b) showing a player preferential treatment.

Again, just waiting on Grugg. How will Father Ted react to Amber running from the store? Obviously, Alaster and Murph will be at least one round behind.

Also: Tiamat, feel free to share your thoughts here, but sadly, you don't seem to have much say right now.

Meredith: how long will Amber run? Where will she go? What if the others hand back, or are delayed?

Well, let this be a lesson for all of you kiddies at home: NEVER give up consciousness if you have a choice. Instead of making you look cool, it can make you be dead.

...again, I wonder how you guys intend on handling the "Macbarrow" situation. I don't see any of you pushing him at full speed on a dead run. All indications are that these zombies have not lost a single step of speed.

Just sayin'.

Heroes get dead.

Or worse.

I need a post from Grugg, or at least some direction here in the Q&A, and we go.

You are quite welcome, of course.

Amber, Murph, Alaster are seperated by an aisle or two each. The other half of the group is indeed within quick fleeing distance of the exit.

Alsster is, indeed, in combat.

You have obtained some food already, so yes, you can run and not starve. There is the Alaster issue, of course; also, it may be tough to run with the Macbarrow.

Treasure Island Foods - 2:05 PM

Just a week and a half ago, Treasure Island had been a chic place to shop for groceries - it billed itself as the "most European supermarket" in America. Sure, you might have paid a little more to shop here, but many were happy to do so for the chance to obtain the highest quality ingredients for authentic ethnic cuisine. And hey, you could still get your Corn Pops and Cheetos in the same trip!

Now, the place was a mess. Broken glass, rotting meat, decomposing produce. With no power, the store appears quite dark further back inside. In short, this place looks far from safe. Unfortunately, starvation will kill a person just as surely as a murderous attack; the survivors have to eat.

Father Ted agrees to stand watch with the injured Emily over the still unconscious Mac (in his wheelbarrow). The trio moves to just inside the broken out windows so as to stay out of direct sight from the street, but in a position to flee quickly if need be.

Murph, Amber, and Alaster go over their "shopping list": canned goods, mostly - meats, vegetables, fruits. Some dry staples that will require minimal cooking - beans, rice, pasta. The plan is to splt up and rush through the grocery store, grabbing as much as possible in the least amount of time.

In retrospect, it is perhaps not the wisest plan they could have come up with.

The store is filled with shadows, prompting Mac's flashlights to be used to examine labels. Two or three entire sections of shelves are turned over, causing additonal difficulty in mavigating the store. The stench is much worse inside; clouds of flying insects surround especially the meat and produce sections, but there are multiple bloody spots on the floor, as well as a half dozen corpses scattered throuhout the building.

It is Amber who, while grabbing canned meats, spots the movement first. Off to her right, up high. The barmaid calls out a warning - a warning that possibly saves Alaster's life. The carpenter looks up in time to see a shape lunge from atop one of the shelf units - a shape that was once human, but as it goes airborne, the identity is reveled by the unearthly shriek that these creatures so love to emit.

Unable to stop the attack altogether, Alaster is able to sidestep the blow somewhat, and while he is knocked back into the shelving, he does not go down.

Naturally, the shriek does not go unanswered - several shrieks sound in reply from the stockroom in the back of the store. Another comes from the manager's office at the front of the store, frighteningly near the location of Ted, Emily, and Mac.

Alaster is locked in deadly combat. The rest of you have moments before the attack comes.

Subject: ...

Arien shook his head dumbly in the aftermath of the fight. They had not fought the dead, not truly; instead, they had fought... puppets? Sometimes, the young knight wondered if there were any horrors left to be inflicted upon his psyche. Somewhere, distantly, his shoulder ached, but a swift assessment revealed that the wound was minor, and was not a pressing matter for the time being.

The little girl's voice screamed in petulant anger as the efforts of Kilgim and Flynn (ah, Arien's gut had proved correct about that one, hadn't it?) allowed Maximus to easily sever the magical threads.

Adrian seemed quite dismissive of the power of the magical threads, but Arien was not as inclined to ignore the sorcery. He had seen the bodies of the priests, had seen how the summoned creatures had been butchered. The knight shook his head, feeling that to ignore this power would be folly.

Shockingly, the normally reserved Dapple charged off into the darkness after the retreating strands.

"Dapple! Hold!" Arien cried, concerned that the rogue would be easily ambushed by some other trap. This entire place stank of evil and treachery; why would the lad do such a thing?

"After him!" the knight called, charging down the darkened hallway himself. He would not leave a companion to face evil alone.

I re-read your post. That avatar submission is not in the queue, so it must have been deleted. Typically, the avs need to be RPG-related, but yours sounds like it could have been interpreted that way; you might try checking the image again and resubmitting.

For quickest approval, submit a rectangular avatar cropped to no more than 55 or so pixels wide, and no more than 65 or so pixels tall.
