I wholeheartedly agree with the bulk of your post, I disagree with a few items... and by and large, I appreciate your input.
I reserve the right to come back and make a more thoughtful response expanding on my comments above.

Topic: Would you like to write for the Inn? Subject: Would you like to write for the Inn?
Once upon a time, in the dark days of the Internet (right around the year 2000), a horrible, ugly little D&D web page was founded on the free Angelfire hosting service. Created by a guy wasting time in his college HTML class, it was in many ways an absolute abomination - the pages lacked a consistent look and feel, he placed every fantasy-related animated gif that he could find on the site... in short, it was terrible.
However, what the guy lacked in pizazz, he tried to make up for with usable content. He began posting articles on how to be a better player and DM. He shared scriblings from a three ring campaign binder about his homebrew setting. He added a hosted message board.
Amazingly, people came. Some stuch around. They discussed D&D, they began playing games of it on the cheesy message board hosted on the hokey site.
And the Red Dragon Inn was born.
***************
Over time, the site grew and evolved. A domain name was purchased. An actual design was applied. Utilities (dice roller, character generator, etc) were created. A forum (then, years later, another) was written just for the site. Chat was added, and for a time, was insanely popular.
The site won awards for its content. A sense of community grew, and people grew proud of the place. The Inn enjoyed a golden age.
***************
The webmaster gave away his time, bit by bit. Many of the founding, core members of the community, left. The entire membership went through a vast amount of turnover. And of course, there were crashes.
These days, the Inn is lucky to see half a dozen new pieces of actual content per year. We still enjoy a reasonably active message board, and we get a lot of visitors who use the utilities (the name generators, especially), but few stick around to participate in the site. Is this how it has to be?
I say, no.
I love the forums and the interaction there. I'd love to see the chat rooms busy again. I think that one thing the Inn is truly lacking is the regular addition of quality, useful gaming content. I'd like to change that.
Are you interested in having your writing published by the Inn? Would you like to create articles on a regular basis? Would you like to simply do one every now and then as you get the urge? Perhaps you'd like to host an RPG-related blog here on the site, or help participate in worldbuilding.
Contact me, please. A major strength of this site has always been the members of the community. I'd like to draw on that in an effort to build up the site as a whole.
I'm looking for the following:
Articles. These can be oriented towards the player or the GM; they can be about specific games and editions, or about roleplaying in general. They can involve rules, house rules, or interpretations, or they can be more related to general gaming.
Art. We have a large library of art unique to the site, but it has been some time since it was regularly added to. If you like to draw or paint, please consider sharing fantasy/RPG related material with us.
Creative works. Do you enjoy writing short stories or poems? Perhaps you get a kick out of making parody songs? Please share these with us. The Archives is chock full of great work - but again, we have seldom added to it of late.
Contributions to the Audalis campaign setting. Audalis was originally created by me for my own tabletop sessions, but I allowed a lot of input from my players to help shape the world. I followed that traditions when bringing the setting to the internat, and the world became a community-created setting, with a dozen contributing authors and many more than that who have contributed art, ideas, and playtesting.
While there is quite a bit of source material available, we have so much more that could be done. There are entire cities that are but a name on a map. There are organizations - both public and secret - that need to be created. There are heroes and villans waiting for their stories to be told. And of course, all this and more could be illustrated visually!
Blogs. Perhaps structured articles are not your thing - perhaps you are more suited to the stream of conciousness style associated with blogging. Great! If you are willing and able to produce an RPG related blog on anything resembling any sort of a schedule, I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks for your interest. I hope that you will help me to help the Inn move forward as a destination for those looking not only for a friendly commuity, but for useful gaming information.

It's the real Mith, I'm pretty sure of that.
I responded to your PM, Mith, as well as to the message you sent me on eBay (which seemed like an odd place to contact me).
The post getting killed by my staff is an action I approve of 100%. I've always held a PG-13ish standard for the Inn, and the first line of our TOS prohibits, among other things, hateful posts.
If you want to talk politics in the general forums, that's fine, but the cartoons are not appropriate for the Inn. Honestly, I doubt that you'll find a lot of interest in the politics stuff - this *is* an RPG community - but I could certainly be wrong.
Anyway, good to know that you are alive and well. Let me know if you'd like for me to reinstate your account.
Oh, as an aside - I'd really appreciate it if you didn't bash the commuity that you haven't been an active part of for years - the "downgrading" comment was pretty unfair. Remember that when you were deployed, we sent a card around the country to send to you, to let you know that we cared about you. You interests appear to have changed in the years away, which is fine, but it's not really cool to bash us if ours have not.

First of all, I sincerely apolopgize for my absence. I got flakey at the holidays, and just haven't managed to get my act together since. We're crazy, crazy busy at work (busiest since I started this job), at home,we're pushing hard to get our house ready to sell so that we can move, and I just seem to continue sucking.
Please forgive me and bear with me. I shall return. Soon.
Really.

Leaders in the clubhouse are currently Ian and Micah. Will probably be one of the two, assuming the babe is male.
Thanks for the support of naming. It's good that a child have some sort of moniker.

Actually, she's relying on past experience - anytime the Ice Haunt froze one of the other party members, he thawed within a few minutes on his own (as the magic wore off). She's betting that will hold true here, as well.
Luckily, it would appear that she was correct.

Topic: baby name Subject: heh
I'm not sure that it's a top choice, and the middle name is decided - we're going with James, after her brother who died a year ago.
We'll probably go with something a little more normal, but I appreciate the feedback.
Oh, and thanks for the well wishes, also!

Topic: baby name Subject: baby name
For those who haven't heard, my wife and I are expecting baby #5 this June. Yes, we know what causes it. I'd say that we are apparently pretty good at it.
Since we have gone girl, boy, boy, boy so far, we both think that it will probably be a boy again (we not finding out, however). We're looking at names, and one has come up that my wife has brought up before. In the past, I've resisted, worrying that it's too "out there", but I find my resistance fading.
What do you think about Tanis for a boy's name?
We have several more normal names in mind, but I'd like to know what the Innmates think of this.
