I've been pretty lucky on this end... I have had quite a few female warriors in my groups. Of course, I may be the exception that proves the rule.

Topic: Paranoia: Adventures in Clonesitting Q&A Subject: post length
Gentle reminder time:
I don't expect novellas. I don't need deep emotonal revelations.
I would like a couple of short paragraphs per post, please. Let me know what your character is thinking/feeling.
It doesn't have to be elaborate, but try to give me more than one sentence. Forum games are collaborative writing, after all - so try to make your posts fun to read.

If you can come to accept the fact that most zombie films end in everyone dying - and so, our game will probably end that way, as well - you can move past that and get to enjoying the survival while it lasts.

Topic: 1985 D&D Report Subject: yep
I recall those days. My mother HATED D&D, and didn't want me involved... my dad overruled her, would even sometimes take me to buy books, figuring that D&D was better than me hanging out and getting high with my friends.
I have never touched an illicit drug in my life.
I recall that it took a long time for my wife to be accepting of D&D... she'd been fed these lies, and had a very negative impression.

Topic: Paranoia: Adventures in Clonesitting Subject: back in action
The Computer continues with its efficiency as Brighte-R-NNU-2 and Amppe-R-AGE-2 are activated, force-marched into secret corridors, and sent on their way. Less than ten minutes after the "stand by" notice is given, a previously undetected door opens in a side wall, and the replacement clones step out, glancing nervously over their shoulders at their Vulture Squad escorts. The hidden door slides back into place, and once again, SWR sector is empty save Team MAO-17859 Dot R-2.
A glance at your surroundings reveals a very dimly lit maze of corridors and pipes. Every junction is labelled numerically - but the labels appear to not be in any particular order. To confound things even more, quite a few of the numbered junctions contain letters and/or odd symbols mixed in with the numbers, which seem to only confuse the issue further.
A few momets after the replacement clones arrive, the blast door that seperated the team from the defense turret also slides shut - pitching you into darkness.
Sadly, no one is carrying a flashlight; surely, these will be distributed among the standard mission gear (which you have yet to receive). Ah, the fun of life in Alpha Complex...

This is a turn based RPG, but if you do not post by the time I post again, I assume that you do nothing - or something dumb, whichever I prefer.
Artie is actually already up; was helped up by other team members, and was able to run out of the door. It was a stun, so there are no apparent lasting ill effects.

Topic: Paranoia: Adventures in Clonesitting Q&A Subject: huh?
For the record - it's not the teams leader's fault that anyone got killed. You guys died, more than anything else, because you didn't post during a combat situation. No post = stand around with a dumb look on your face = easy target.
The team leader allowed the red button to be pushed. There wasn't really a choice... pushing yellow would have been treason. Too bad for you guys that somebody forgot to include a shutoff for the laser cannon, or to place a button that could open the door for Red security clearance.
Huh. Most have been the work of Commie traitors. There's a lot of that in Alpha Complex, these days.
Translation: if you still haven't figured it out, despite all of my warnings, the deck is stacked against you guys. Troubleshooters die with regularity. It's not a question of "if", but of "when" and "how amusing it will be".
Cautious plans will get you killed even quicker as you bore the GM.

The part of Artie-R-FCL will henceforth be played by Reralae. Chessy just did not care for this game's style, so we have made a player change - no harm, no foul on anyone.
Welcome aboard, Reralae!

I'm not going to fry clones for a day or two with no posts - especially around a holiday. It's the "entire week with no posting while the party is in the middle of combat" that will get you cooked.

Topic: Paranoia: Adventures in Clonesitting Q&A Subject: sigh
I warned you, did I not?
Congratulations, ladies and gentlemen - we have our first clone death on page two of the game thread!
Paranoia is a deadly game. Sometimes, you will die through no fault of your own. Sometimes, the capricious GM will allow Alpha Complex to kill you because he is a jerk.
This is not one of those times. At least, not fully.
If you do not post, and do not touch base with me, you risk clone death. If you log in to the site, please take a moment to post - or send me a one line PM telling me that you can't. If you are online and do neither of these, I get irked, and the blood of your clones is now fully on your hands.
I have had one player let me know that they are not sure if Paranoia is their cup of tea. Hey, no problem - it's not for everybody. If you don't care for it, please just let me know and I'll recruit a replacement player... no hard feelings.
Not posting or talking to me, on the other hand, is kind of rude.
Now, if you have been killed - but still want to play - do not despair. You get six lives in this game. Unless told otherwise, your new clone will have all of the same traits as your last clone - just on number higher on their name. That's it.
If you died, please allow me to reintroduce your character before you post to the game thread (but feel free to post here).

Topic: Paranoia: Adventures in Clonesitting Subject: Keeping it real (deadly)
The firing laser cannon causes most of the team to take at least some sort of action, be that of running, dodging, heroically assisting others, or simply trying to stop the shooting.
Others, however, react far more sluggishly, as if the laser cannon were apparently a decoration, or, at worst, a distraction.
It is a given in Alpha Complex society that efficiency is something to be sought in all areas of life; waste - whether in resources, time, or effort - is something to be avoided. To do otherwise is treason.
As a result, modern targeting systems are a veritible model of efficiency. Consider, if you will, this yellow laser defense turret.
Presented with multiple threats, the targeting logic first elects to distribute the shots so as to distribute the damage and weaken the resolve of the attacking group. However, when a wonderful target of opportunity presents itself - in this case, two clones that seem unconcerned with the severity of the situation - the algorhythm takes advantage of their positioning and lack of urgency to line up an extremely efficient shot.
The cannon swivels, hums, and fires again; this time, the shot will surely be analyzed (and lauded) by R&D. The beam penetrates the left side of Ammpe-R-AGE's head, exits the right side... whereupon it continues, largely unimpeded, to enter the chest cavity of Brighte-R-NNU (who is apparently either in shock at her flesh wound, or is unable to handle the situation).
The two clones immediately collpase to the floor, perform variable amounts of twitching, then lie still. One shot, two kills.
Meanwhile, Slipp and Blowz are able to assist Artie to his feet, and the four remaining clones escape through the doorway into what appears to be a relatively safe corridor marked "SWR Sector".
As you pause to catch your breath and assess the situation, Friend Computer's voice chimes from a crackly speaker somewhere in the ceiling.
"Attention, Troubleshooter team MAO-17859 Dot R-2. Records indicate that your team has sustained regrettable casualties. Mission success relies upon a full strength team; please stand by as replacement clones are activated and dispatched to your location.
Have an enjoyable day in Alpha Complex."
The speaker falls silent.
