Topic: New Editor Interface! Subject: New Editor Interface!
In a recent forum thread, I mentioned that we were going to be making some serious improvements to the Inn. This announcement serves notice that this was not so much smoke being blown up your collective skirts.
Behold, the Inn has finally upgraded to a full featurerd WYSIWYG editor! No longer do you need to know HTML to make pretty posts.
In addition, you can freely copy/paste content from MS Word and Adobe Acrobat documents.
Better yet - this is only the first improvement we have planned.
Major thanks go to Alacrity and Bromern Sal for getting me off my butt and back to work on the Inn. Thanks go to both gentlemen, and well as to Eol Fefalas, for testing the features and putting up with pam emails from me.
Keep your eyes peeled - there is a LOT more to come!
Edit: if the new shark smiley isn't your favorite part of this upgrade, I have doubts as to whether you possess a soul.

Hey, I'm okay with however people want to approach this. I'd love to have an interactive round.
Is Eol onboard, I wonder?

Sure enough, I am looking to do a post. I was thinking of a "silver screen" to sort of wrap up the adventure and give us closure, but if you folks would prefer, we could take a few rounds of posts from those who wish to participate.

That's right, I sure did.
Sorry.
Hoping to try my birthday pale ale again this weekend. Last weekend, I had a catastrophe - lost the entire batch when sparging and the cooler fell off the table.

You brew, Schnozzle?
Yeah, I know Marshall and the Bru crew. As a matter of fact, I really pushed him to start the Brulosophy blog years ago when we were both just guys on the HBT forum.
But I'm just a hack who happens to know a few brewing celebrities (Marshall, Denny Conn, a handful of bloggers, etc).

Thanks, all!
Baby (Gideon Drake) is doing well. He was born six weeks premature, spent nine days in the NICU. He's doing great, now.
Wife is doing well, also.

You are all too kind.
I think that we're going to start in on some improvements to the place. Also, I think that I'll post an epilogue to my Trek game... lack of closure sucks.

So folks, I've had a crazy life.
Work issues, health issues, baby number eight born prematurely.
But things are leveling out for me. And Alacrity and Bromern Sal have reached out to me, hoping to breathe new life into the Inn.
I would love that so much.
So... let's see if this works. Ladies and gentlemen, I am back.

You've probably seen me around. I'm in an active cycle for me, though I'm a notorious flake who might disappear for weeks at a time because I tend to suck.
I currently run Star Trek: Edge of Duty, though that game is starting to wind towards the end of the current storyline.
I'd love to DM an old school D&D game again, but I keep failing, so I dunno. I keep pretending that I will one day revive Zombies in Chicago, too.
Away from the Inn, I'm a father of seven (five kids still at home). I also brew my own beer for fun.

I actually had to reign it in a bit, as I didn't want to push things too far forward without people getting their chance to react.
Yay for more posts!

Stardate 2365.02.11
USS Peregrine, Main Bridge - 11:07
At first, Silas did not fully process Dio's statement, preoccupied as he was with the rushing of his own blood in his ears. Now you've gone and done it for sure, the thought presented itself. And done it he had - the CO of the Peregrine knew full well just how far he has pushed things. He had ventured into a gray area at best; there were very specific, limited provisions in place for removing a superior officer of command of a vessel, but of a battle group? Silas honestly could not place the regulations that specifically give him the authority to do so. Worse, he was fairly certain that he lacked the evidence necessary to shield himself from a court martial even were this a single vessel; with Jacobs being the Admiralty-named CO of the battle group, and having received direct orders to essentially sit down and shut up for the duration of the mission, Silas had thumbed his nose not only at his superior officer, but to the chain of command all the way to the top.
There would be no avoiding this one. Retribution for his actions would be both swift and severe, Silas was certain of that. He had even gone so far as to threaten violence against another Starfleet vessel; not only was there no way that he would retain his command, but odds were excellent that Drake would also lose his freedom in the bargain. Hopefully, his crew would at least be shielded from punishment by the very chain of command that Silas was attacking.
And yet... the Captain felt strangely at peace. He knew that, based solely on the information available to him, he was making the morally right decision. It simply did not make sense that the Kuldar were behind this attack; all of the evidence supported what Silas believed in his gut. With any luck, Drake's self-immolation of his career would not only prevent the deaths of innocents, but still perhaps lead to salvage of the peace talks here in the Gamera system. If this attack run went forward, all of that would be lost.
Presently, Silas found himself drawn from his thoughts and back to the situation at hand by the poison in Jacobs' voice. "How dare you threaten me, Mister Drake!" the ranking Captain quaked, his face purplish with rage. "Bad enough that you are both incompetent and a coward, but now you offer treason to bundle with the rest of it?" Jacobs fairly spat before continuing. "A penal colony is too good for the likes of you; I will enjoy attending your execution."
The venom in Jacobs' statements hung over the two ships for several moments. "I will not be threatened by the likes of you, Drake. I will complete this attack run and this mission. Afterwards, I will relish communicating your treason with Starfleet command. Jacobs out."
With that, the communication was cut.
Drake gave a rueful grin before offering a bit of gallows humor. "It's too bad that a penal colony is too good for me," he spoke to no one in particular. "I was just thinking how Tantalus is supposed to be so lovely at this time of year."
Shaking his head slightly, Drake spoke. "Tochi, put us on an intercept course with the Coronado, get us between her and the Kuldar. Mattias, calculate the phaser power needed to knock out the Coronado's shields without harming the ship herself. If Jacobs forces my hand, that will be my warning shot - I would rather not damage a Federation vessel if I have any choice whatsoever."
As if finally processing the encoded message - and Zai's interpretation of it - the Captain shook his head. "If the crew is Rytain... why? Why would they kill their own people?" Drake expected no answer, of course, to a rhetorical question like that.
One more order came. "Lieutenant Lasad, open hailing frequencies, please. Full broadcast." Once this was done, Silas spoke with authority.
"Attention, all vessels in the Gamera system. This is Commander Silas Drake of the USS Peregrine. We have every reason to believe that the attack by the cloaked vessel was a ruse meant to sow chaos and disrupt the peace process. We have contained this situation, and will obtain full answers shortly. Until further notice, all vessels are hereby ordered to power down their weapons and hold their current positions. Any aggressive acts will be viewed as acts of war meant to undermine the peace process, and will be handled accordingly. Again, I repeat - all vessels are hereby ordered to power down their weapons and hold their current positions until further notice. Drake out."

Yeah, you'd be short people, but there are fewer than five life signs total, and they are enemy combatants. Cuff em and treat em like cargo for sure.

I don't think we can tell species without tuning the scanners, and I don't know that the shuttles will be that sensitive, regardless.
Plus, it takes away some plot tension.

A boarding party? Ack, too bad we just sent half the Security personnel on a shuttle mission...
