I was thinking you may want to look around the ship first and react to what had happened, maybe fill in details about the landing from the perspective of the players but I can post a "what you see, here is the sitc" post if you'd like.

Rocinante Cargo Bay, 8:45-9:00 pm ST

Asher stared back at Matheson, unflinching from the cold gaze he was receiving. The man was obviously not used to having people talk to him that way. In the end, Matheson smiled, "You are right of course. More important things to deal with than my case. I apologize for my ... selfishness and if you require assistance in any way, my two men would be more than willing to help as much as they can."

Asher watched Havelock and Lord Hood for a few moments before heading off the cockpit. The two men had more differences than similarities but they did seem to want to help. Asher noted that for all his stumbling and loudness, Havelock was getting people to sit down and in places between bulkheads and tied down cargo. Prefect places for them to brace themselves if the landing went badly. The man may be drunk but he was no fool. Lord Hood soon started doing the same thing, all while talking a positive talk that everything would be ok.

As he moved on, Asher noted that four young ladies who looked very similar were grouped together and staring at him as he walked by - giggling amongst themselves as he did. No good ever came from giggling.

Rocinante Rocinante Cockpit, 9:00 pm ST

Everyone had reported in and Wyatt gave them their orders. John thought that once in the Atmo, he'd should be able to activate the Beacons of the processors. As well, there should be a sand field that the terra-formers would create in case of a bad landing, so he might be able to locate that.

Tess thought it through over and over again. She would have to slow the descent speed dramatically, which she could do in a number of ways. Once in the Atmo, with only one pod working, she would be in a jam.

"When we are heading in, Captain, I am going to need to take the lead. John on second chair if Willow can spare him, Wolf and Asher in the engine room with comm open. I can do this but everyone is gonna have to trust me. Dohn ma?

Rocinante Cargo Bay 1:00 am ST

All the passengers were down on the floor and strategically placed where they could hold on to something solid. Havelock was telling stories to anyone who listened.

"We were coming in hot and the drive pods were both on fire. Landing gear was jammed and frankly we thought we were goners. But the ship flew true. We bumped the surface a few time, spilled our beans in every crevice and corner, but it got us down safety. This is a good ship and a good crew. They'll get us home."

"Why?" One of the young ladies asked, " Why are fireflies so special. My dad says they are junk ships."

Captain Havelock smiled, "Because my dear, they were designed by a very smart woman, and if anyone knows how to bring the menfolk home in one piece, it is a woman."

John came out of the medical theatre and nodded a positive nod to his crewmates. The monk would be coming around soon. He quickly ran off towards the cockpit as Asher ran up to join Wolf in the engine room. The time was now.

Rocinante came towards LV-426 at a shallow angle, as Tess used the atmosphere to slow the ship down. The ceramic tiles on the bottom of the hull were no doubt glowing red but it was a qucik and dirty way to drop the velocity.

Once through the outer reaches of the moon, she cut the pulse engines and attempted to activate the drive pods. The one came alive no problem but there was no response from the other. The good news was that she could tell by the way the ship rolled under one pod that the damaged pod was still attached to the ship. Otherwise they would be spinning right now.

As Tess handled the flight, John worked on finding the beacon of the atmosphere processors. It took a few moment but he located it and set up a feed between it and Rocinante. The sand field was due south of the closest processor and he fed the coordinates to Tess.

The ship flew an odd pattern of half spin and wobble but it came down steadily. Using the reactor and the Grav Dampener - Tess pushed the null grav bubble well past safety limits - essentially turning the ship into a leaf on the wind.

In the engine room, Wolf knew what Tess was trying and although he might it otherwise, he could appreciate it was the best solution. Without the primary buffer panel, the big mechanic had to watch the dials and reading in the engine and manually adjust the power by hand. Asher was maintaining all other functions so Wolf could concentrate on that.

The ship flew down and bounced once off the surface of the sand field. Then it bounced a second time, hard enough to be felt by everyone and cause a small amount of panic in the cargo bay. Then the third and Tess dropped the landing gear, spun the drive pod downward and using pulses of full power to no power, brought the ship down to the surface safely. Once down, a mighty cheer was heard throughout the ship.

Rocinante Infirmary, 1:10 am ST

Fu Sheng opened his eyes and looked around the room. Willow was there at his side looking worried but serene at the same time.

"Have we landed?" The monk asks weakly.

Rocinante Cargo Bay, 8:32-45 pm ST

"What have you taken?" Willow asked the girl softly, so her voice wouldn't carry to the elder Amber. "You've had a bit too much, love, we'd better get you to the infirmary so we can bring you down. Was it dust? How much did you have?"

Amber smiled back at the doctor, "Just love. nothing but love. It is what the world needs now." She reached out and touched the back of Willows Neck but Willow feel something sharp and twisted away, grabbing Sunshine's hand as she did. There was a device on her finger, it looked some sort of neural transmitter but the young lady snatched her hand away before Willow could get a good look.

Circling carefully around masses of passengers, Willow and Amber Sunshine were passing the cargo bay hatchway, Willow glancing down it reflexively, when she was startled to hear her proper name twice in one day.

"Sunipta? Is that really you? Sunipta, my precious, the fates themselves brought us together...I knew we couldn't be parted. I don't understand, Sunni, what are you doing here? You really turned me down for...this?"

Willow couldn't answer, the ship rippled beneath her feet before she heard the explosion; already off balance from being grabbed by Bridges, she fell into his arms, and he stumbled, pulling her to the floor as he fell.

She used her Aikido lessons to use his fall to her advantage, landing on him and using her hands to push herself back up. She scrambled to her feet in time to see Sifu fall from the stairway to land heavily on the cold metal of the cargo bay floor. She left all grace behind as she grabbed Sunshine by the arm to pull the girl through the crowd to where her passenger lay still.

She let go of her un-protesting companion long enough to drop to her knees by Sifu's side, and pulled on another pair of gloves. Carefully, she examined the gash on the side of his head; it was bleeding freely, but the wound itself didn't look severe enough to be the cause of Sifu's unconsciousness. She delicately lifted an eyelid and confirmed her worst fear: the pupil was completely open, the black engulfing the brown iris.

"We need to get him to the infirmary. NOW!" Willow called, then looked around at the people milling around. "You, and...you there!" she commanded two men who were of the same relative height, and made the mistake of catching her eyes, "Grab that backboard up against the wall and bring it here. I need you to carry this man where I tell you, and keep him perfectly level. His feet cannot be higher than his head... don'ma? "

The two men standing on either side of the man in the white tuxedo looked around and then at their employer. He nodded at them and made a hand gesture of impatience so they both did exactly as Willow ordered. They seemed quite used to taking orders so Willow found them to be very apt orderlies. As they brought Sifu into the infirmary, John was already starting the scanning equipment and the bed was cleared and waiting for the patent.

Ash watched as the henchmen left as he spoke to the two men that ma pointed out to him. “Sirs, you seem to have these folks respect, I sure could use some help keeping everyone close and calm. This isn’t going to be easy and if folk don’t just stay put for a while…well we aren’t safe yet. Now I ain’t no diplomat and it’s my job to keep this ship and crew safe so these folks comfort ain’t high on my list. I won’t stand by and watch someone being selfish put my ship at risk, so I need your help to get that point across. Them folk got to understand they’re alive and the crew that got them off ain’t. If’n they want to stay that way they just need to stay quiet and calm.”

The Lord nodded appreciatively, "We would be more than willing to help in any way young man."

"Right! ship shape and all that, what what." Havelock replied mysteriously as if that actually made sense.

Asher turned as the man in the white tux came up to him with a determined stride. He smiled a grim smile and offered his hand to shake. "Asher is it? I am Matheson. James Matheson. Are you head of security of this vessel?"

(Assuming a positive response)

"You need to know that you have a thief on board your ship. The young lady with the brown hair holding the silver attaché case? She stole that from the ship and it is my property."

(assuming a question about proving that)

"Naturally. I can unlock that case and I doubt seriously that she can. Now how do yo uwisj to proceed with this?"

Rocinante Cockpit, 9:00 pm ST

Captain Wyatt Sung sat in the second pilots chair of the bridge and listened to the reports,

Wolf: Right now the drive pod on the port side is completely nonresponsive. Can Tess land with one? Yes, but it will be a bumpy landing as she has no VTOL. You don;t know how damaged it is until you can look at it.

The main reactor for the pulse drive (which is the one on the stern that glows) has a micro fracture in the core containment. the more you fly, the bigger it gets. To fix this Wolf has to shut the engines down completely and be on the ground.

The primary buffer panel is damaged. (This was the part that flew off Serenity and the start of the movie) Without it, power is not evenly distributed so you need to fix that. Again, you need to land to do so but you can compensate for it in the mean time.

Tess: She can get to the moon in four hours however when you get there you will be landing with one drive pod functioning. This will be dicey as she will have to compensate and there will a lot of rocking. The Landing will not be smooth, because there will be no VTOL. Rocinante will have to skim the surface. Worse part is, once you are down, you won't be able to take off unless the drive pod is fixed. If it is missing, then you will be in big trouble.

Now when the passengers came abroad, Tess started to get hits from transmitters. Not surprising as a lot of the rich folk have personal transmitters that signal alliance when they are activated. these link to the cortex and the cortex is cut off. However, someone tried to signal someone else via a radio signal as soon as you were clear from the explosion. Tess jammed the signal out of pure reflex (Someone named Grace taught her that) but some of it got through. She cannot say how much. The other worrisome fact - Something is still jamming the cortex. That means it wasn't the damage to the cruise liner, it would have to be something else and they would have to be close. Not on Roc, Tess could locate that, but likely another ship out there and they don't want anyone contacting the authorities.

One silver lining is that the moon being in second stage terraforming might still have atmospheric processors. they would be dormant but a place of shelter, equipment and if no one was looking - spare parts. Plus they would have a beacon to home in on to make landing easier.

Willow Sifu is badly hurt. Sifu has suffered a subdural hemorrhage results from tearing of the bridging veins in the subdural space between the dura and arachnoid matter, but Willow feels confident that she can save him and there will be no neurological damage. She is starting to procedure now, with John assisting and she should have the Monk stabilized about an hour before you attempt the landing.

Subject: Tier's Report

Stardate 2368.07.08
USS Discovery, Main Security Office– 0550

“They are on your screen sir.” The Petty officer Kaster was saying.

Tier was mad. Very Mad. Perhaps too mad. Yes, he could acknowledge that he was taking this “simulation” as a personal affront and that he was sure that deep down, somehow, Commander Avanti was behind it. It was the type of thing the commander would do. Throw a ship into chaos and see what happens. The XO probably wanted to see how it would affect the “harmonics” of the ship.

Raditz was talking about his team. Tier pondered the envitable report he would have to give.

I’ll give you some gokk-bonking harmonics you oversized gokk-bonker of a commander. I’ll cram a gokk-bonking harmonic so far up you that it will hum when you eat gokk-bonking breakfast.

“ Permission to speak freely,” Tier asked aloud, not even noticing that he just stepped over Kato’s turn to speak. He also didn’t wait for the response. “What the gokk-bonking hell was that? I’m all for simulation and surprise simulations but what are we doing running a gokk-bonking sim with live weapons without some protocol or notice? My team responded well, as I would expect them to, we communicated and met up in excellent time but there weren’t any invaders? So what did we gokk-bonking learn? We can run like gokkbonkers demons when the pressure is on? I could have told the gokk-bonking commander that! I need a gokk-bonking enemy to fight and I rather not have someone accidently shot in a unannounced combat sim. Not that any of my guys would make that kind of gokk-bonking mistake! But things can happen.

“Don’t get me wrong, I am in gokk-bonking awe of Lt. N’Doog’s simulation. I have been in fire fights and attacks since I was a child and he completely fooled the gokk-bonking hell out of me. Frankly, I think we might be able to use that sim if we were ever infiltrated to divide and conquer the gokk-bonking Borg.

“But overall, my team performed well under the gokk-bonking test and I was very pleased with their efficiency and speed. Thank you sir.”

Tier felt a bit better but noticed that Kato was staring at him with a funny look. “Problem Ensign?”

“Umm... It was my turn.”

“So get on with it Ensign. Don’t stand around with your mouth open like a gokk-bonking dolt. The Lieutenant is waiting.”

Avanti’s fault. This is all his fault

Stardate 2368.07.08
USS Discovery, Observation Lounge – 0745

Avanti sat at the staff meeting and listen to the Captain talk about the simulation. He thought the exercise was a good one and the fact that there was no true danger to the ship did much to soothe the uneasy feeling that he had during the attack. All was right in the universe, after all.

The first officer was not known as one who had to speak at a meeting, he actually preferred to listen. He certainly did not need to chime in his approval of the Captain’s test, as he found that humans often thought that to be a sign of weakness. What did Lt. N‘Doog refer to it as? Something about a brown nose.

"With that being said," Blair continued, "I believe that we have room to improve. I want each of you to honestly assess your departments. Find out who did a good job - and who could improve. Figure out if there was anything that we could have done better. Small improvements could save lives, and avoiding mistakes could prevent disaster. I have no intention of making these sort of drills commonplace, but I want the crew to be as prepared as I can possibly accomplish. I will gladly trade a few minor injuries and hurt feelings for even one life, and I will not apologize for that position. I trust that you can all appreciate that."

"I expect a full departmental report from each of you by the end of the day. Commander Pantanko, I trust that we are still on schedule to have full warp drive today?"

Blair nodded. "Excellent. Lack of warp drive gives me a stranded feeling. I'll be glad to be done with that."

“Yes. I too miss the feel of the warp core running.”Avanti said with a sigh. He was distracted by the lack of a warp core humming in his head. He was sensitive to harmonics and vibrations so he was feeling like he was in a room where everyone had been talking and then suddenly stopped.

The Domtarian could not help but keep going over the feeling he had when the “attack” was happening and he felt nothing. It was an odd feeling, almost stifling in a way considered how often his feeling of the world had save his life and those around him. What is it I am feeling right now? Fear? Disappointment? Anger? It was a simulation.

...

"Very well," the Captain concluded. "Dismissed."

As everyone rose to leave, the ship’s counsellor Serene Markus stepped up to the Captain as he rose to leave. He wondered briefly to himself if he should speak to her about these mixed feelings. Although he had not had much luck with counsellors so far in his career.

“Captain?” She said in a tone that rang very clear in Avanti’s mind, “I would like to have a word with you now if you have a moment. I can give my personal report now if you don’t mind.”

Avanti had stood up to wait for everyone to leave and then speak to Blair as was his usual routine. “Would you prefer privacy Counsellor or may hear the word you have for the captain as well?" He asked sincerely.
