Topic: Destiny Flight - QnA Subject: clamp
RPN is right in that you need a special docking clamp and in the episode in question, the ship was a salvage operator so they had to have a docking ring.
With bigger ships they would have docking bays like the Alliance cruisers or Niska's Spaceport.
Some small "modified" ships have a special clamp to board undetected like in The final episode of the series and in the graphic novel "those left behind".

Topic: Destiny Flight - QnA Subject: landing
Oh yes you would have to land to transfer cargo unless you wanted to put on suits and toss it at each other.
The heavy traffic lanes aren't like highways, they are areas of space that depending on planet rotation suddenly become congested as they are in the arc of the fastest route. You could go the entire route without seeing another ship, or you may pass a dozen in transit. Running at a high speed in a corridor is dangerous because the potential for collision is greater, and they won't have the speed to get out of the way.

Topic: Destiny Flight - QnA Subject: tess
My mistake with Tess, for some reason I skipped the skill and used to abilities.
Destiny is a d10 agil, with a d2 gunship, Tess d10 agil, d12 gunship, an additional d8 for Born behind a wheel and a d6 for talented (Nice stacking there, btw). So rolling you are a base 6-48. You will need a 27 to make the skill check.

Topic: Destiny Flight - QnA Subject: skill check
You want to go top speed in a heavy shipping lane of space? That will be in the high spectrum of Incredible if not Ridiculous maneuvers. Let me explain the game mechanics of that to clarify.
Destiny is a d10 agil, with a d2 gunship, Tess d10 agil, d8 alert, an additional d8 for Born behind a wheel and a d6 for talented (Nice stacking there, btw). So rolling you are a base 6-44. You will need a 27 to make the skill check.
If you add a plot point you get an additional d6. add two and you get a d8, etc etc.
Hope that helps a bit.

Topic: Weird War II Q n A Subject: ledge
The pit trap is about 8x8 so there is a 2 foot rim around the edges. Probably built that way so the enemy would fall in but the troops within would know to stick to the edge.
Leaping 8 feet? That would be a formidable if not incredible skill check.

True we broke the 180 degree rule if there was a camera but according to film making class (back in high school) you can break the 180 degree rule if you have a central object to base prespective. In this case the table. In Blade Runner they used a giant billboard.
But thanks for the attention to detail.

Supposedly you could freeze the holodeck but it was always malfunctioning in episodes and once again you would be trapped in the holodeck with safety protocol disabled until the program ran its course.

Topic: Weird War II Subject: same floor, give me some more
In the Stairwell
“We can’t be delayed,” the captain said “Mrs Hoffstetter, do we need to go further down?”
She thought for a moment and then replied, "No. If we go further we will have to work our way around to the catacombs which will waste time and possible ... other things in the dark. Here we can move to the main stairwell down."
"Doesn't matter either way." Brutal says as he signals a stop. the Sarge close behind him sees what Brutal is looking at and shakes his head. The lower part of the stairwell ends in black water so high that the next door down can't be seen. " Sorry Captain. I didn't think to pack swimming trunks." Brutal Says as he returns up the stairs to take the lead going through the door. He listens briefly and then opens the door to a ten foot wide corridor going north for 20 feet and ending in another door. The hall is dark and musty smelling, with no electric lights strung here at all.
Brutal steps forward with machine gun at ready. He takes two steps and suddenly the floor opens up beneath him with a loud crash as the false floor swings open beneath his feet. "What the Fff......." he cries as he falls into the pit trap.
Before anyone can scramble over to see if brutal is okay, there is the sound of someone calling out in german. Romo hears what he says
"What the! Quick! Check that out now! You two cover him!"
Near the dungeons
Max look around the room and realizes he has three options. There is the door he came through that leads to the prison, and other door to the south and a set of double door to the east. He checks the double doors and finds they are unlocked but as he touched the handle he hears the sound of bootsteps heading toward him from the other side, a number of them actually, probably alerted to the sound of the gunfire. Then he hears a loud bang from somewhere nearby, like a door swinging hard into a stone wall. it clearly surprised the germans as he hears one of them call out.
"What the! Quick! Check that out now! You two cover him!"

Topic: Destiny Flight - QnA Subject: tracking
You can try to track the location of the signal by how long the delay is between message received and sent. This would be a skill check (Technical Eng or Knowledge). it won't be precise but it a distance range.
But you can draw a few conclusions. If he wants your cargo, there would have to be an exchange, in which case it should be close and stationary - so a moon or large asteroid. Also, getting the message as you have entered the shipping lanes is also indicative that they are close.
Arrowhead courier class are fast ships, some of the fastest around. They are small and sleek and can not carry a lot of cargo but they can do 10 or 11 burn. Destiny handles like a gunship, in that it can do surprising agile maneuvers for its size.
Armaments - Most ships wouldn't dare because if alliance finds them then that is it. They will take the ship, strip it down, sell it for parts and ship you to Perdition. Arrowheads are small so really unlikely they would have weapons. Unless they had the cash to spare to buy them fancy newtech ones that are almost undetectable.

Hornsilver Mine, Regina, Frisco, Day Nine 11:50 pm Planet Time
"Now where would the key go? Where's this ship?" Willow asked.
“All in good time sugar.” Brigit said with a smile. She watched Willow closely, cautiously with an air of expectation. Clearly, neither woman trusted the other. “I wouldn’t worry about the outfit, cause we’ll be able to by the whole factory after this.”
The area below the old shaft was boarded up but Brigit had pried and removed the boards to reveal a depression about 1 foot deep and 40 feet across covered in ankle deep water. But beneath the water, the ground is metallic – no handles, hinges or seams. “It took me quite some time to find it, but what we needed to find was over here.” And she takes you away from the metal floor to an area off to the left. There is a medical vault security console. It is old, looks dead but Willow has seen them before of hospital vaults that stored meds or things you wouldn’t want getting out. Sure enough, her eyes are quickly drawn to the four symbols she was expecting to find. Willow also notices that there is damage around the console, where it looks like someone has tried prying it off, blasting, and even a corrosive liquid. Brigit shrugs at the significant look from Willow, “I never was good at waiting. So, you got the key and code? Be my guest.”
Frisco, Day Nine 11:40 pm Planet Time
“I’ll let Wyatt know old man” He said with a sad grin “Via con Dios.”
With Ash seated in the passenger seat Wolf increased power to the mule turned it north and headed for the mine and the rest of Rocinante’s crew. The cold morning air blew by them as them as they moved towards the old shaft. Ash’s radio was gone but Wolf still had his – but should they radio ahead? Or keep silent to surprise a possible enemy?

Topic: Destiny's Flight - A Serenity RPG Subject: Everybody get down tonight
The news of the diamonds leaves everyone a bit stunned and unable to figure out how to deal with the situation. After awhile, Jason and Stephanie are found and informed of the situation.
“Anyone else got anything from that gorram planet they need to tell us about?” Jon asks but no one dares to answer. “Okay, then I’m going back to bed. Tess you got the bridge, tell Jason he’s to handle things, unless it gets dicey, then call me. But please don’t let it get dicey.”
Jon mumbles as he leaves the cargo bay, “Poisonings, Barons, Feds, babies, diamonds……., I’m start'in to miss those Ta Ma Duh smelly chickens.”
“We got better things to think about without dragging up some half-sleep induced fantasies, Captain.” Ken said still shaking his head, “I agree with you though that we best just deliver this cargo, get the money we are owed and get the hell out of this situation.”
So everyone leaves to cargo bay except grace and Ken. Grace starts to pack up the xray equipment and Ken retrieves his gun from the hidden panel in the cargo bay,
As Tess returns to the bridge, she sees the flashing light on her console indicating a wave message. Tess automatically checks the source, and it is a Courier ship, Arrowhead class, registered to the Lim Wine Corporation. She punches the intercom to Jon’s room and calls the captian to the bridge before he can get too comfortable.
Once more Jon grumbles, "Ta Ma Duh, why can't things just go smoothly once?" Jon moves from his bunk and hits the com back to the brige, " Okay, I'm on my way." As he turns back to dress he mutters, “Chickens, got to learn to just stay with them chickens..."
OOC: If anyone else wants to be there, that is fine - Jason, Ken)
Reaching the bridge Jon clicks the wave receiver on. The image appears of an asian man, black hair, clean shaven, something wrong with his eyes, one eye stares of in a different direction that the other. The captain does not recognize the man at all, "This is Jon Brown, what can I do for you?"
“Captain Jon. Pleasure to make your acquaintance. I am Wang Chung and I represent a ... company with interests in the cargo you are carrying – the wine casks.
(Assuming a denial or a how did you know)
“Come come Captain. The word gets out and it is a small ‘verse after all. My employer would be very generous in rewards to you if you’d entertain a proposal.”
(What’s the proposal)
“We’d like to buy the wine from you. A special price of 5000 credits a barrel in platinum, as compensation for any difficulties you might have explaining its loss to your current employer."
