Subject: The way I see it


Give me some time to write it up. The way I see it, Grace did not blow up the engines. She blew the claymore mines that she hid within the hull of the engine room (just in case you ever got boarded. See who is paranoid now?). This killed the bounty hunter but also damaged the engines. She was devising a plan to tow the ship with the BH's ship when Sanders showed up with his crew and boarded Destiny. Grace, who is not gifted in negotiations, offered the wine and diamond to the feds in exchange for immunity for the crew and Destiny towed to Berylix. At first the Feds refused, but Grace had rigged a 102 key sequence on the main hatch so that the Feds could not leave without the codes. Threatening her by force didn't work as she pointed out that the engine room wasn't the only place that she expected boarders.

So She got towed, the Feds got their bad guys and the diamonds and Grace was left on Berylix with a useless ship.

Or so everyone thought. Grace actually took some of the diamonds from the hoard and sold them via her black market contacts. The engine was not nearly damaged as she let on, and was able to make the repairs in less than a year with some upgrades even. She couldn't get the Feds interested in Higgins, so she made contact with the companion guild who was very interested. She was paid well and Higgin's was made to understand what messing with the companion guild meant.

The story will begin with your team re-united but your reputation has taken a beating as you have been out of the picture for a year. You just hauled 20 tons of Fertilizer which was actually manure and your cargo bay smells pretty crappy even after two power-washes. Money is low, supplies are low, Grace is starting to wire thing into the ship "just in case" again - you need a job.

Does anyone have the storyline I wrote up to explain what happened with Destiny at the end of the last adventure? I may have to search for it.

As I see it right now, the ship is back online, the crew has reassembled and you are back in business. Unfortunately you have been out of the loop for a year and it is hard to re-establish a reputation beyond having a sexy ship. You are so desperate that your last job was hauling "fertilizer" which was all natural... Your cargo bay still smells of manure.

The game will start with Grace getting a tip from a friend in low places that lead you to an independent operator named Badger. Seems he has a small job that needs a fast ship, nothing but some passengers.

It is the Angela Ryan character from the Freedom's Price game, that failed. I think her character is still in the Q&A of the game but we will be tweaking it a bit.

As things improve with Will and he is now in Grade one (enjoying it too), I think I can look at reviving Destiny again. I have an adventure in mind and players to start as well.

Odyson will return as Captain Jon. Kinta will take the role of Grace the mechanic. Teller of Aryn will take over the role of Tess the pilot.

Joining the game will be Vanadia as Angela Ryan, a woman with a shady past and possibly a gov't experiment. As well, Tann will be playing a gunslinger PR man that is to determined.

Rounding out the crew will be the NPC Doc. Stephanie to be ship's doctor and love interest of Cap't Jon. (The Love Boat ....soon will be making another run ....)

Great idea except that it would probably be a algorithm that determines the code and without it, you'd have no hope of accessing the bombs. Much like trying to access a car lock with a CB radio and foul language.

Exact dimension? Dammit man, I'm a GM not an engineer!

Let me see what I can dig up....

Based on the schematic, it is about 40'x10' with a 20' diameter at widest, tapering down. The turbine you have found is smaller, won't be efficient but it will work.

However you will need to fix the iris style door that closed the drive pod up while in space. You can decide not to, to save a huge chunk of time, but your will have to replace the entire pod again as soon as you land again.

Tann, I have not addressed your plan in the game because it is up to the players to come up with a plan. As to the feasibility of moving the ship with the shuttles, I have addressed that already. It is an interesting idea but it would be depending on many factors like where you'd put the shuttles and how you'd secure the ship to them. It is possible but the wrong roll and you will damage the ship further.

But you need to develop a plan and that is between characters. I can make suggestions but I can not tell you what to do. if you want to try and do 4 days of repairs in 4 hours, then that is what you try - but I will be rolling on the IMPOSSIBLE COMPLEX level.

You have caves nearby. there is the AP building and there is Rocinante. Chances are the mercs can not scan for the case so they can not risk blowing up things indiscriminately. In fact, they have to be really careful.

John has a radio set to their frequency and they do not know that. That could be a huge advantage.

Trying to think like the mercs might help you plan for them coming. If the game was reversed and you were playing mercs wanting to steal a violin from a bunch of passengers and a well armed crew - what would you do?

I realize this looks like a no win situation. That is part of the adventure is to see how your characters deal with their own personal Serenity Valley. But there are still Aces to be played and thrilling heroics to be played out.

Lord Hood looked at Captain Wyatt with some confusion clear upon his face. "Caves? What caves? Surely the ship or the Processor building would work best? And you don't mean to actually fight these men do you? If they are half as bad as your young crew member suggests, maybe we should just give them the violin and let them go? Captain Havelock needs medical attention. many of these people...most of them have never been in danger in their lives. I admit you know more than I on fighting and tactics but I'm not sure that I can keep all these people safe."

Asher gathered up Beatrix, Matherson and the two bodyguards, who seemed willing enough to follow as long as their boss said so.

"Mr. Matherson, is it? "WIllow called out as she put pressure on Havelock's wounds as best she could (three holes and two hands). "Might I borrow your men again? I promise to return them."

Hack and Slash looked to their boss who nodded and waved them away. "Go. That is a brave man there, help in any way you can." he looked over to Asher standing by, "with your permission of course."

(assuming a yes)

The Bodyguards lift the wounded Havelock with care and skill of people who had moved wounded before. Asher mused silently about how much or how little he wanted to know about that. He watched the two go towards the infirmary with Willow in command and then escorted Matherson to one room and Beatrix to another. As he left Matherson behind, the gentleman said, "Young man. I am being polite and patient here, as I understand that none of this is any of you or your crews doing. However, I do intend to claim what is rightfully mine. So while you are dealing with unwanted trouble, and mercenary that want to kill of a violin, please keep in mind that I am a very dangerous man to cross, but I am a very very valuable ally to have on your side."

LV-426, Infirmary of Rocinante, 8:45 - 9:15 am PT

Willow moved around people and had Havelock brought to the operating room. Out of the corner of her eye, Willow saw that Amber looked very strung out and weak but Cameron seem to back to original colours and mobility.

While the men bemusedly hurried to do her bidding, Willow once again donned her medical coat and a fresh set of gloves. She retrieved a fresh med kit from the sterilizer and used the scissors to cut away Havelock's jacket and shirt. Once she had a clear view of his chest, Willow's eyes widened and a low "oh my!" escaped her.

Havelock's chest resembled 20 miles of bad road: scars crisscrossed a ribcage that seemed to have more depressions and protrusions than properly curved arches. Willow couldn't find more than a square inch of flesh that hadn't been wounded at one point in time or another, but of course, the three most recent injuries drew her eyes.

"Sponges!" she demanded imperiously, not looking up, and she nodded crisply when her outstretched hand was filled with the surgical sponges. She cleaned away the blood from the first wound and began to probe delicately with forceps fully expecting the bullet to have penetrated too deeply for her to find without resorting to surgery. Instead, she felt more than heard the metallic clink of forceps against bullet almost immediately, mere millimeters beneath the skin. She shifted the forceps to grasp the bullet, then pulled it out cleanly, dropping it into the metal tray someone proffered. Eyes wide, she peered into the wound, then explored gently with a gloved finger. Rigid scar tissue resisted her probing, and she began to laugh softly, even as her eyes rose to meet those of Havelock.

"You're not an old warhorse, love, so much as an old tank! You have been through so much! Let's see if these other two will be as easy, hmmm?"

Willow continued her steady work of patching Havelock up, offering pain relief if he needed it, but indeed, all three bullets had been defeated by the dense scarring on the old warrior. She was able to remove the three bullets and start the dermal mender to healing the wounds left behind. It was a marvel to her though - Havelock was lucky indeed. She recommend rest for a day but she doubted seriously that the old warrior would listen, so she better seal him up well.

It was then that Willow realized who had been assisting her throughout the operation. Both Bodyguards had taken up the roles as nurse and assistant during the surgery. "We been around a hospital room a few time Doctor. Kinda a occupational thing." said Slash, "Knowing what to do and how can help keep you working if you know what you mean."

LV-426, Atmo Processor, Upper floor, 8:45 am PT

John got the power going easily and hacked his way passed the simpleton version of a security code that was left behind. (Really, it was almost insultingly easy. Might as well use 36-24-36, it would have stumped you longer) Once he had accessed the on line schematics and brought up an image of the turbine positions, it would be easy enough to find a replacement for the drive pod.

(assuming Wolf will call here to inform John of situation. John can remind Wolf that he has radio on the frequency of the Mercs or tell Wyatt himself)
