Topic: RPG Myth Breakers #6 - Crouching Tiger, Creeping Undies Subject: woohoo!
Thank you Olan for the long hard work in setting it up.
Yes, Lance and I are going to try to keep this going with monthly updates. Hey, we are two guys with families so monthly is pretty good for us.
Hope you enjoy and if you have a myth you want the Alacrity/Bromern treatment - submit it to me by email or pm.
Thanks
Roger (Alacrity)

Topic: Captain America: What Did You Think? Subject: saw it
I enjoyed the movie. Not sure I would say it is the best but it was enjoyable. I am glad that They didn't try to modernize it and kept the world war II theme. I enjoyed how the movie played with the American propaganda from WWII and fit it all in.
Now I never read a Captain America in my life and I have no issues of CA in my collection. (I collected DC) So I didn't know what to expect and had no pre-conceived notion.
One piece of script writing really struck me in the movie. Abraham Erskine said to Steve Rogers “People forget that the first country the Nazis invaded was their own.” That is often overlooked in the movies, and I was glad to see it said.
Curious if they can pull off the Avengers without losing the audience. It is a lot of players to share a screen with special effects.

Topic: Debate: Spell Immunities Subject: nothing new
Yes then story has been done many times by Vance, Moorcock, Tolkien, Wagner and to some degree Eddings. You can even go older than that with Beowulf poem and the Nowell codex as well as Authurian legends.
However, I wasn't looking to discuss my campaign, I was looking for feelings on "cheating" with magic that defy innate spell immunities.
I thank everyone for their input. I appreciate the comments made and enjoyed the back and forth discussion.

I am seeing it tonight. Anyone know if there is any clips at the end of the credits? Marvel usually does but Xmen First Class had nothing.

Topic: Debate: Spell Immunities Subject: wait! there is more
I will be working on this module with the intentions to place it in Audalis and possibly do up as a module.
We shall see.
The "Grim" is definitely a artifact right down to the special way to destroy it.

Topic: Debate: Spell Immunities Subject: yes
Definitely the whole of the campaign will be to find and destroy this book.
Love the input and thoughts so far. What i read so far is it all depends on the story behind it and as long as it isn't just a random encounter like a spuer charged rust monster or a skeleton with a "i'm immune to everything" ring.

Topic: Debate: Spell Immunities Subject: mmore
In the specific example I have, the party would be warned ahead of time that the book was powerful, evil and could be a danger to even the most pure of warriors. But I am more interested in the general idea of magic vs immunities in any game.
Another example could be ghouls wearing "Protection from Turning" amulets. That was in an actual TSR module. But do you think that is cheating? Where is the line in your mind?

Topic: Voyages of the Rocinante - Firefly RPG QnA Subject: Okay
Back again. I will be posting soon to move things along. I want to give Vanadia a chance to post.
On Sam Dash: Robert and I have talked and he will not be returning to Sam Dash anytime soon. So I will ask Bromern to take over Sam for the length of this campaign and when it does end, Sam will leave the ship and disappear for while. YeOlde and I will "tweak" Andrew a bit and he will become the pilot for the crew.

Topic: Debate: Spell Immunities Subject: Debate: Spell Immunities
Okay, here is the question.
Sould a DM create a magical item or plot device or monster that is so powerful it can circumvent the spell immunity of a particular class? Or is that just cheating?
Example: A book of magic that is so evil, so powerful that it can possess a paladin even though a paladin is normally immune to mind based attacks. (Let's not worry about rule systems and what classes having which abilities. Assume a class is immune to possession and the DM puts in a book so evil it can possess even that class.)
Thoughts?

never had this problem. Not sure why.....
I find the best way to deal with this gender confusion internet is to ASK. It is a simple question and there really isn't a reason not to - you have no way of knowing.
Excuse me? Am I dealing with a man or woman? It doesn't change the way I will deal with you, I would just prefer to know whether to put he or she when referring to you in passing.
Of course, I have been known to be blunt in the past. Once or twice.
