Subject: Shovels go, Wagons ho, To and fro.

“If you don't mind I will borrow this for a moment and go talk with my friends. Perhaps we can figure out what to do about this glowing dome. Don't worry, I shall return before we use any of the things inside." Derry said.

“By all means kind sir,” The apt replied as he handed the bag over, “My master said it was for emergencies and I think this situation qualifies. If you can use anything in it to save my master I would be most grateful.”

"Under. Has anyone tried digging beside it? Maybe it doesn't keep on going too deep into the ground." Brandr had approached and asked the young local. "Hey mageling! You or any of your friends tried digging? You know where I could get some shovels?"

“Shovels?” his voice cracked in surprise, “Why didn’t I think of that?” he mused aloud and then turned to the crowd of people while shouting, “Boswell! Jerry! Get some shovels! Try digging under the …thingie”

Two young men broke from the crowd and ran off towards town, followed shortly by two others as a murmurs goes through the crowd of “Good idea.”

"I think trying a shovel is a great idea. Let’s circle the building and see if there are any ways in. Let’s dig. Let’s consider all "normal" options. I suspect they won't work, but let’s try. I don't want to waste the scroll if we don't need to because there is obviously a mage of some power involved here and we may need it later."Derry said, "If it comes to it, I'll try the scroll. I would be very surprised if I am able to dispel the entire spell. This is high level magic. But it might weaken it, open a gap, or have some other temporary effect which would allow us to get in. If in is where we want to be. I can't guarantee just what impact it might have so let’s consider all options. Any suggestions besides digging?"

"Has anyone tried to do anything with that bubble besides walk through it? Perhaps tried an element on it? Water or fire perhaps? Likely it will have no effect but as you have said we are short on ideas..." Ela asked. The suggestion caused a ripple through the crowd.

“Get some Water!”

“I have that pitch in my shed!”

“Dad’s got that bad batch of shine that will burn goods!”

More men leave the crowd at a run in order to fulfill the requests called. Desperate to do something for their liege and beloved princess, some of the people seem to be eager to accept your suggestions as orders - however most of the crowd still hangs around, making a racket and commenting on every suggestion.

Noctus drew attention toward him. "Good people gather around one and all. Fear naught for my fellow adventurers are already hard at work seeking a way to pop yon bubble and free those inside. No need for such good folks as yourselves to bother any longer; go instead and tend your fields and shops. Soon enough this will be over and a new celebration will begin. Go and make ready!" The crowd doesn’t disperse of course, but the chevalier accomplishes his plan of drawing them away from the rest of the party.

Soon, four young men arrive with shovels, a pick and some boards. Without asking for direction, they run to the shield and begin setting up for ditch digging with the enthusiasm of youth, just to the left of the roadway leading into the castle/sphere. Shortly after them comes a wagon loaded with earthenware jars and other people with buckets. The arrival of the wagon causes a panic through the crowd and they begin leaving in such a hurry you’d think that a dragon had appeared.

OOC: You are alone now except the few people who want to help – The Apt, four men digging, one guy with the wagon loaded with bad homemade alcohol, two ladies with water and another man who brought a bucket of tar/pitch. The sphere encompasses the entire manor house and the gardens around it so it is very large (hundreds of feet wide). It is hard to see through but you don’t see any movement from within, just the trees surrounding the house and the manor itself. You do notice that when people were “attacking” it the redness seemed to get darker where the attack was and lighter elsewhere in the sphere.

Map is coming soon. Most likely Monday

Topic: Save The Princess, Save The Wyrm
Subject: getting the story, hoping for glory

"Take heart good people and fear naught for I have arrived. What sort of trouble doest place terror into you hearts of the sort a mouse would know when a cat lurks nearby?" Noctus called out to the people and they began to gather around. There was some confusion as people were all talking at once.

“What did he say?”

“They’re not heroes! They don’t have armour!”

“Please save the princess!”

“Are you married, kind sir?”

“Please help us!”

“There was a big boom and then this….”

“ We panicked and ran….”

“Someone spiked the …”

“Where you from?”

“Are you a Syl? Daddy says you shouldn’t stand still near a Sy because they will ….”

“You call that a sword? That’s a fire skewer!”

“Someone stole my boots.”

“The Princess is in there, you save her.”

“You will be rewarded!”

“Some of you may die.”

“Look at the muscles on that one!”

“Are you a priest? Do you do weddings?”

“Big bada boom.”

“People running everywhere.”

“Monsters in the corridors.”

“Save the King and the Princess!”

“Ugly green things…”

It takes some time before you can all start to piece together the story of what has happened here. It seems that the party for the princess’s coming of age was going splendidly and since the King had declared a public holiday for the event, it was going strong until the early morning. That was when disaster struck. There was an explosion upstairs that shook the very foundation of the building. People panicked and ran every which way but just after the explosion, the red sphere appeared out of nowhere capturing everyone inside. A few of the servants who were working outside and near the edge of the sphere escaped but the others found the sphere was a solid as a wall. Then, as those that escaped watched, some sort of cloud or maybe a dust spread throughout the interior of the magic and then when it dissipated, no one could be seen within.

A total of seven servants are accounted for, and of them, one claimed to have been inside during the explosion and saw monsters coming down the stairs. Green skinned monsters with armour and swords. He also tells of seeing the Princess, the King and another man heading upstairs just before the explosion. The Princess looked like she’d been crying, and the King looked scared. He did not recognize the other man by described him as a dark man, with black hair, a black moustache, wearing black chain armour, a black surcoat, black boots and carrying a sword in a black scabbard. You are not sure whether to believe him or not because it is obvious from several paces away that the man was drinking while on duty.

Missing, and believed within this sphere are:

King Boris
The Princess Argentia
All five of the Town Elders with families
Mage Sanders - King’s Magician
Captain Travis – Captain of the Guard
Commander Tarn – Second in Command
A number of servants (about 12)
Reginald Green - A visiting Priest of Solaris
Aliegha - The Priest’s Bodyguard
Flak Stonewall - The Khordaldrum Emissary
Val (something something something)– The Sylvari Emissary (no one remembers name)
Viscount Tralen of Dawn Castle
Prince Germaine of Rahl
Jeeves -The Butler
Gaston - Head Chef
4 other cooks
Rachel - The Head of Servant Staff
Approximately 30 Knights and 60 soldiers

Desiderius focused his attention on the young man dressed in a mage’s robe. “Mage! Yes, you – what is going on here? Can you tell me what has happened? What is this magic? You seem to be trying to organize people – to do what? “

The young man turns to Derry and he is much younger than expected, no more than 15 summers at the most. His voice cracks as he speaks, “What!? I’m not a mage. I mean I’m not a mage yet. I’m an apprentice to Sanders, Mage to the King Boris.” He is obviously flustered and somewhat out of breath but he goes on, “I don’t know what magic this is, but I don’t think it’s my master. I was sleeping at home and heard the explosion so I grabbed the master’s emergency kit and came running.”” He points to the shoulder bag at his side, “When I got here, this was here and I have been trying to get answers ever since, but everyone is too freaked out.”

He looks around to both sides and draws Derry to the side where no one is about, “Listen. I’m not much of an apprentice either. Sanders lets me stay mostly because he feels sorry for me and I have no family. I can’t even cast cantrips, well, I did kill a rat once with a cantrip but it was an old rat. I think there is a scroll in here that can make magic go away. Would that help? If you can save the Princess and my master I am sure you will be well rewarded.”

(assuming you will ask to look)

In the pack are a number of jars with ground and dried herbs, several rolls of bandages, and a clay pot that smells medicinal. There are three potions, two with the symbol of Lysora (Goddess of healing) and one with the symbol of Garghas (god of disease) with a red X across it. There is a scroll written in the runes of magic, and a quick view of it reveals that the apprentice was right – it is for a dispel magic spell.

As a group you confer together and share your discoveries to put together the events as they have happened and a plan for action. With that many people of power and royalty in the sphere, the reward for saving them could be great. The crowd looks on and talks lively amongst themselves about all of you, which of you would be a good catch for marriage, your choices in armour, clothing and personal hygiene. Drannon – there really is no place like it.

I have sent out Pm's to some on this but let me share thoughts and intentions with all.

I do not have a character from Kyle. If I do not recieve one by the end of the day, then I will move on without the bard in the party, and we will see if you meet up with him inside if Kyle wishes to join.

DB said he would be delayed so I will post the townies reactions, the story thus far and then he can always back post if necessary. That being said, I may post late tonight or tomorrow. In order to keep things moving, it will be a massive summing up of what you hear and see, leading to the point of "how do you get in there?"

Topic: Save the Princess Q and A
Subject: a few notes

Players that have played with me before will know that I use a percentage base for healing. In low level campaigns I set a minimum points of healing so that you aren't left dying and getting on 2 points of healing per spell. For this adventure, the minumum for a cure light is 8 points.

Posting actions should be devoid of other players unless you have spoken/pm/emailed or in someway communicated with them. Even the smallest of actions (John steps out of my way as I barrel through the door) should be considered, especially if said person has posted already.

I don't consider order of posting to be order of action, or else the first person to post will be at a disadvantage. Post what you want to do, and how you would do it, and I will post what actually happened. It won't always be the same. If the party wants to split up and everyone posts they are going left, I will will set people off to the right (usually after a round of pm's).

When you are wounded, I will not post the number of hit points lost. I use the following:

Minor Wounds - less than 10% of HP loss
Light Wounds - Between 11 to 25% of HP loss
Serious Wounds - Between 26 to 50% of HP loss
Critical Wounds - Between 51 to 75% of HP loss
Grave Wounds - more than 76% loss

This game is officially started. Most of you have posted ahead of time and I thank you for that. The last few should get their intro posts up asap so I can move forward. Remember, you don't have to write a novel, it is just the beginning.

Here's hoping this game lasts to the end and beyond.

Actually a cheap trick to move the topic into view again. Kyle has confirmed that he is joining as the BArd. Everyone may post now if they wish, as I have enough to work with for now. However if you wish to wait until New year's, go ahead.

Tann - Sylvari Rogue - Crow *
Raven - Vidarak Ranger - Brandr Bjornsson *
Keeper of Dragons - Sylvari Swashbuckler - Noctus *
Dragonblood- Human Cleric (Therassor) - Peter Eliot *
Nomad D2 - Human Mage - Desiderius Obro-Vakt *

* I have a functional character sheet

For the record, I tend to post on Sundays in the late afternoon. However I will post as soon as everyone makes their initial posts to get the game going.

For those of you who might not be familiar with Drannon (and you should read the article ) the people of Drannon are fond making things bigger than they are and quite "fake" - hence a small village styles itself a kingdom, with a princess instead of a Lady, a Castle instead of a manor. Bards in drannon sing long ballads about tragic love stories where the hero always dies in the end. It is sorta fall of Rome meets chivalry knights meets pre-civil war southern USA.
