You can disagree with me if you wish Albert. My ruling stands. I do not need to know how a gun works or a grenade is pulled to play a game. Skill + ability rolled against a difficulty chart or a opposing roll.

I have often said that when people post they are posting what they think happens, and I am posting what actually happened.

As well, this is a game, controlled by dice and skills chosen and the GM say so. So things are not always going to go as you plan they will.

That being said:

Grenades:

I read your post Tann but Wolf set grenade traps using what skill? Covert - no he doesn't have that. Knowledge - no. Tech Eng Security systems? No. Hmmm. To quote Wolf himself I’m a mechanic Captain, not a bloody bomb maker

I decided to use Mech Eng as it was the closest and I wanted to find something you could use. However, there is a chance even with the best trap layers that something went wrong. Shit happens in combat.

So - Three flash bangs went off when the ASREV flew over. They did not hurt anyone or blind anyone defending. the soldiers had not entered the ship yet so they did not affect them either. Specifically they were the ones at the doorway between the catwalk platform and the door into the common area and Infirmary, the top of the stairs leading from the common area to dining area and the hallway to the engine room.

Sonic Boom

Not that your characters would know but Nancy created the dust cloud to cover the fact that she dropped the body with a message onto the shuttle. She then moved back to where she was suppose to be under same cover.

Shock Wave

I was reading your pre-post Ody in a hurry so I am sorry I did miss a point. The shockwave from the missile affected the shuttle that Tess was in because she was too close and the shuttle was not made for combat. Tess' Pilot skill failed and I played that she flew over-confidently. The 1-4 chances after that were, the ground, hit the Asrev, hit the Corvette and hit Rocinante.

So the shockwave from the missile did not throw Ma and Asher's shuttle around, nor did it affect the corvette or the soldiers.

Deputy Callahan

Nancy was not in the Wine adventure of Destiny. The feds were Sanders, Hudson, Hicks and Vasques. So there is a chance that Tess may gun down the fed spy, or vice versa.

Comm

I think it has been established that you can direct your calls on the comm to a number of people , so Asher can call out to everyone, or two or three as he sees fit.

Asher and Ma's view is sorta blocked by a dead guy right now.

You would have seen the men dropping from the corvette.

You would have seen and felt the fireball/explosion and you'd have seen the two ships go down. All through dust and dirt but you get the idea.

i have posted. have fun. Don;t get too far ahead of the game.

The Corvette is making its way to the Atmo processor, or at least that is the direction it is going.

I still need my questions answered on the case.

Tann - I rolled your d6 Mech and d8 INT against the movement of the ship at d6+d6 for all the traps you set. The three flashbangs failed.

OOC: I still need a few answers as to the whereabouts of the case but here we go.

Before the Battle

Willow arrived at the caves with Amber in tow and the young girl who had been helping Asher out. As they approached the entrance to the caves, The young lady turned to Wllow, “Listen. My name is Jessie. I’m a thief and Ive done a con or two but I want you know that right now, I’m very grateful for what you people did and ....well, I’ve got your back. I ain’t weak. You may not trust me. Heck I wouldn’t, but I’m here and I’m ... well I’m here. And that something. I hope.”

Inside, the cave was bustling with activity. Sifu had everyone working on something and Lord Hood was there as well giving out advice and helping where he could. The monk’s face showed relief at Willow arriving though and with a glance Willow knew he was pushing himself well past the point he should considering his injuries.

The doctor took in the common area of the cave s in a glance. The boys were there rewiring some sort of earth mover and arguing on the best way to do so. Cameron Bridges was working away at a communications terminal with Portia Amber close by. There were a lot of people missing though. The Queen Bea and her Heathers as well as many of the passengers.

“We moved anyone and everyone who could not help to the farthest reaches of the cavern. “ Sifu said and smiled.

(assuming a “where is Matherson?”)

“He came in awhile ago but was saying something about an alternate communications relay? I was not sure what he mean but he went off to the southern caverns that were the dining areas.”

Inside the infirmary of Rocinante, John was losing hope of figuring out this device and that made him mad. He was better than a bunch of mercenaries and he would not let them get the better of him. But it seemed like they were and he hated it. He slammed his fist down hard and swore in as much Chinese as he learned in the war. When he did, the head receiver buzzed slightly and vibrated.

John stared at it for a moment. How did I do that? He hammered his fist down again and again until the receiver buzzed again. He looked down at the wires his fist were on and stared tracing backwards. Maybe there is another solution.

Inside the ASREV, the pilot brought the ship up to speed. “Whoa! Honey! You do know how to fly!” Wilson said from the co-pilot position. He was there to control the weapons and the bomb bay. Normally the ship took a four man crew but this baby was set up so it could be one person running the entire show.

“Thanks Wilson.” Honey purred as she activated the transmitter on the wristband she swipe from Black Bart’s room. Range was short on this but Wilson was close enough. “By the way. It isn’t Honey.”

“Pardon?”

“Honey is not my name. It’s Nancy.”

“Nancy? Why you telling me this?”

“Thought you would like to know. So you can tell Satan who sent you.” And she hit send. Wilson’s body spasmed once as his brain exploded. Nancy quickly took her seltbelt off, put the auto pilot on cruise and rushed to grab Wilson’s body and dumped in it the bomb bay. No going back now Callahan.. She thought and rushed back to the pilot seat. What she had planned was gonna take finesse and timing. Eyes on the stage boys! I’m just getting warmed up

The Battle Begins LV-426, 12:45 pm PT

BOOM
BOOM
BOOM

The sonic booms of three ships crash through the atmo. The ship sensors picks up the ASREV first, followed by a CL-54 Cargo Lifter (with a mag lift that could easily pick up Rocinante). Then a large ship comes within range. A Victoria Class Corvette - used by special forces in the war to move troops discreetly from planet to planet. It is capable of holding 50 troops plus a command crew as well. A lot of firepower and a lot of soldiers.

Wolf relays the intel over the ship-linked handsets each of those away from Roc carried, and Wyatt confirmed receipt. He had already heard the sound barrier being broken and was scanning the sky for signs of the enemy, but the announcement of the ship types coming their way was of immediate concern.

“Tess,” Wyatt activated the radio. “Change of targets. Ignore that ASREV and take out that cargo ship. With the ASREV in the air, we may need you t’ help run interference. Copy?

“Once we see the ships we’ll try t’ figure their trajectory an’ move so we can harry them,” Wyatt informed Havelock. “We’re gonna have t’ get in close as you an’ I are much better with our pistols. You still game?”

“Whenever you are Captain. Who of us for the war isn’t?” Havelock intoned and revved the mule up.

Then, the ASREV Came into view moving fast – real fast - Risking blowback fast actually. It dipped low and buzzed the landing strip and Rocinante causing a huge dust up of dirt and debris. Had Wyatt not switched the landmines to remote from impact they all would have been set off by the effects of the sonic boom.

Then the Sonic boom hit – hard. Shaking the ground, the ship and the rocks themselves. Inside the ship, Wolf and the two hired men had to brace themselves as the ship shook so much that they lost their footing and almost fell. China plates and glasses could be heard breaking in the cabinets, the three flashbangs that Wolf had set up to fire all fell and set themselves off and inside the infirmary, John was startled by the boom and the vials, beakers and tray shattering. “Do you mind!” He called out annoyed, “Some of us are trying to work!”

Wyatt watched the ship fly by. Cover. It was creating a natural cover by stirring up the dust.

The ASREV performed a perfect crazy Ivan over the shuttle where Ash and Ma were waiting. Ma had no lifted off because she had no time. Then suddenly there was a loud thump on the nose of the shuttle – a squishy sort of thump as a body fell from the ASREV bomb bay doors and dropped onto the windshield and nose of the shuttle. The dead man head was bleeding from his helmet and his head was mush inside the visor. (note: Due to the dust, no one sees this except Ash and Ma)

Written across his shirt in blood was “Help is coming.”

Ash and Ma looked at each other and back to the dead man on the windshield. Then Ma pointed at the communication panel and the nav-comp. Both wee connecting to the cortex again. Whatever was jamming the signal just stopped.

The ASREV flew back to a attack position outside of Rocinante’s rear. Auto-cannons and missiles unfurled themselves as it held a hover position 100 feet away from the ship. Dust continued to swirl upwards.

The corvette came into view with the Cargo lifter close behind. The corvette flew over the emergency runway and then soldiers on anti-grav belts began to leap out of the belly of the beast. Eleven men dropped as a team on the landing fielding as the ASREV held watch. You can’t see them clear enough through the dust to see how they are equipped bu t enough to know they are armed.

(Note: The men inside the Ship cannot see this at all)

The corvette did not stop and as it passed over Rocinante eleven more jumped out. The heavy impact of men in boots and armour clattered in the roof of the ship and echoed within. “We’ve got company Wolf!” John called out sardonically.

Tess was stonefaced as the ASREV roared by. A little dust cover didn’t scare her at all. She’d flown blind before. She was ready to lift of and intercept the ASREv when the Captain came across the comm.. “Tess, change of targets. Ignore that ASREV and take out that cargo ship. With the ASREV in the air, we may need you t’ help run interference. Copy?”

“You got it captain.” She replied, mentally agreeing with his assessment. The corvette might be able to take a hit and keep flying. The lifter though, wasn;t a military machine and wasn’t built for gunplay. Of course, the ASREV could easily hunt down a shuttle but wasn’t anything she could do about that.”

She lifted off quietly and moved the shuttle through the dust cloud, using their own cover as her own. As soon as she was ready, she hit the thruster and soared upward rapidly.

To the crew of the Cargo lifter, it was comical. A shuttle popping out of the dust like it was a gunship or something. “Boss? We got a gnat here. Do you want us to GORRAM HELL!!!!!!!”

Tess dropped the missile and it flew like an arrow shot from a longbow of earth that was. The crew wasn’t prepared for the attack and they did not have time to make evasive manoeuvres. The missile scored a direct hit on the front of the cargo lifter.

The explosion was intense. It lit up the sky and created a huge fireball. The shock wave from the explosion threw the shuttle backwards. Tess struggled to gain control but the force was too great. Her control panel burned out from the feedback. She swung low and fast, clipping the side of ASREV. Both ships were put into a spinal downwards. Since they were so close to the ground anyway, they skipped across the ground and both crashed landed badly to the south and east of the landing strip.

“Honey! Honey Cream!” The one who had been making the orders before shouted on the radio, “Speak to me babe!”

Neither of the ships blew up and yet both landed upright. They would not be taking off soon though.

Meanwhile, in the caves, the ground shook and people started to cry out. Sheldon remarked out loud to his friend, “Oh good. It worked.”

Leonard looked at his friend, “What worked Sheldon?”

“Did you know you can make explosives from household items like coffee and cooking oil. And High Fructose corn Syrup is almost a hydrocarbon?”

Howard looked scared, “oh no Sheldon. What did you do?”

“They wanted a missile. I made a missile!”

Alôndas fires a magic missile at the Bugbear with the shield that strikes unerringly and inflicts damage to the warrior that makes it flinch with all the other damage it had taken.

Garmard takes advantage of the distraction and hits the bugbear hard in the chest, causing it to fall to the ground, bleeding from mouth and ears.

Wembley puts his sling to use from the doorway of the massage room. As the big Bugbear leader steps forward with mace ready to smash Gamard out of his way, the Cidal's sling stone catches the monster dead between the eyes, causing it to step back in pain and surprise. But the pain is not enough to stop him and the Khord cleric takes a hard blow to his shoulder and flies through the air a few feet to splash down in the pool. The water starts turning red around him.

Mal attacks again with sabre against the shielded Bugbear on his side. He hits twice, good hard wounds that make the bugbear howl in pain but not enough to fall.

Dudley uses a command spell on the other, hoping to force it to swim. Luckily, the Bugbear us smart enough to understand the cleric but dumb enough that he can nor resist the mystic bidding of the cleric. He leaps into the water without thought, causing a huge splash. (The water is not deep enough for the Bugbear to drown).

Crow watched his opponent leap into the water and moves to attack the one on Mal. The Long sword drives deep into the chest of the bugbear and then with his short sword, Crow slashes the bugbear's throat - killing it instantly.

OOC: Two Bugbears are down, one definitively dead. Another one is swimming but will stand up next round. Crow, Mal and Dudley automatically have initiative next round, but will have to wade into water to attack. Alôndas, because you used Magic Missile (1 seg spell), if you choose to cast it again, you will attack first next round as well. However with Gamard in the water, the leader will attack Alôndas next.

Aryn - you did not post so I assumed you would continue to attack as you said in last post

The ship does have an autopilot and a proximity detector so you can let it fly on it's own, you just need someone alert if the alarms goes off.

I have assume some conversation in this. You may repost it if you wish to rephrase anything I put in.

Destiny Cargo Bay, Day One of Journey. 3:10 AM ST

With the two finds being the only things of interest, Grace asked Angela without thinking about what she was asking, "You any good at breaking into luggage?"

Angela wasn't sure. She looked at the first case, the one with the picture frame and then at the other one with the device and noticed something right away. She checked all the cases then and then returned to Grace. "All these cases are unlocked except one," she said pointing to the case with the device. "All the combination locks are on the exact same numbers - I bet it is Lilianna's birthday too. Sloppy but she is a kid right?" Angela clicked open the case with the picture frame and the bolt snapped open easily. She reached inside cautiously and pulled out the package.

It was wrapped in a handmade Chantilly lace cloth that was old, browning in places due to age and handling over the years. It was wrapped well, so that you'd think it was an old family heirloom and there was nothing inside. Inside the lace was a picture in a simple wooden frame - also hand-made but more recent than the lace. It was a picture of Lilianna with a young man, close to her own age. The young was dressed like the garb of a ranch hand but the two of them are smiling holding hands across a wooden fence or a stall - like they were meeting in a horse stable or a barn. One thing was sure - this wasn't Templeton Colt Steele. On the back of the picture is written "Me and Daniel".

As Grace examined the photo and her mind flashed through certain deductions she could make based in the setting, the clothing and the fact that someone must have taken the picture who Lilianna trusted, Angela examined the locked case. "I'm sorry Grace but I cannot open this without setting off whatever security feature is built into the case. Funny she'd have one case with such high security and all the rest unlocked." Angela said plainly.

Grace handed the picture back to Angela, "Yeah, I expected that. Okay. re-wrap this so it looks undisturbed and put it back in the case. We need to find the Captain."

Destiny Captain's Quarters, Day One of Journey. 3:10 AM ST

Stepping out he saw Stephanie and Catie waiting outside his cabin. “Wo Hu Chung Long" Jon said aloud as he approached the ladies.

Stephanie smiled, "You choose this life of big damn heroes dear. Don't complain about it now." she said as they followed him into the quarters. Stephanie showed Jon the note that Catie received from Lilianna covertly and told the Captain about Grace and Angela's "inspection" of the luggage. The note didn't say much. Help me. Please help me.

"I do not think we should go in and confront the girl and the bodyguard this evening, "She looked at her multi-band, "Morning I mean. I think it would be prudent if we got Lilianna away from the bodyguard so she could talk."

Stephanie sighed heavily, "Never thought I would feel like I was happier when we were hauling manure."

(assuming some input and conversation between Catie and Jon)
Suddenly there was a firm and distinct knocking on the door. Jon Knew from the staccato rhythm that it was Grace.

(assuming you let her in)

Grace and Angela entered the room. Grace looked twitchy - well more than usual. "Guess what we found Captain?"

"Hold On" Jon went to the communicator and keyed the Bridge and JC room. (Assuming a Y'all better come to my room now. We got a meeting happening)

Hack ans Slash have no interest in the machine guns or assault rifles (whatever the difference is). They thank you for the offer but they prefer their handguns which are finesse weapons as opposed to fishbarrel shooters.

We shall see when we get to the end.

I repeat, the mining charge was using in the missile. According to my records, you only had one.

Listen - I am not a bullet counting GM. I think it detracts from the game and turns it into accounting. However, The grenades and explosives need to be watched closely as they have potential to make ships go boom.

You only have two hands to fire weapons with and I haven;t seen the Captain going for an arsenal of weapons yet.

Those are Asher's weapons and grenades you are helping yourself too. May wish to check with him. He has posted clearly what he has taken

Havelock does not have men. If you mean the two bodyguards, hack and Slash have their own handguns and are not asking for more.

You would have one for every crew member. So at least 7 gas masks

I will have to check the distant and speed.

Asher gave a heckler to Havelock and kept one for himself. Split the ten mags

Bro - I posted some stuff about the caves and the two bodyguards. Not sure if you saw that.

The battle starts this weekend so post them if you got them. If you need anything from me, let me know.
