Cathy hopes to post for Willow tonight. Tann, you are in the jailhouse now so feel free to chime in.

Now, the next little bit will require some back and forth, both on the jail and in the bar. So I can do it as short posts back and forth between characters or try it through PM and then forth a long post. Any preferences?

Crow peeks into the room beyond the door, careful not jar the doorframe. . This room is 20 x 20 and dark. The Sylvari thief’s eyes adjust to the darkness and can discern within that the north and east wall have sturdy wooden tables mounted to the walls, and there are shelves above set in for storage. On one of the tables are several pies, a few loaves of bread and a large silver pitcher (all now room temperature). There seems to be no one in this room. Empty trays of silver and platters of wood lie on the floor discarded and leftover food pieces, now a few hours old, lie on the ground.

The door in the north wall is shut.

Day Three, Newhouse Jail, Beylix, 11:10 am

Captain Sung turned his attention rather abruptly from the prisoner to the sheriff. “When’s the trial, Sheriff?”

“The trial? Oh! That. Well, we have to wait for the Governing council to open up so that we can have a judge assigned to Mr. Bowman’s case. Then he will have his trial and evidence will be presented.”

(assuming a “when will that be?”)

“Well now, there is the difficulty. The council is…on vacation.”

(assuming “for how long”)

“Ah. Well. There you have hit the hammer on the nail. You see … We don’t know. The council didn’t rightly tell anyone how long they’d be.”

“Or where they went off to either.” Deputy adds, “Been away almost a month now haven’t they Sheriff?”

“No. More like three weeks. But they will be back soon. Then we’ll get you that trial and hopefully the witnesses will still be around to speak on Mr. Bowman’s behalf.” the sheriff says with the conviction of a man making the best of a bad situation. "Coffee? Whiskey?"

Just as you are absorbing the information the sheriff is telling you, in walks another man will a silver star. He is a lean, imposing man with an inscrutable face and bright piercing eyes. Very tall, with steel gray hair and distinctive hawk like nose; his badge was polished up bright and he carried old style Colt at his hip, and a M40A3 that he slung across his shoulder.

“Sheriff.” The man says with a nod, “Ken tells me there are people looking for me.”

The sheriff nods with enthusiasm. “Luke Pearson, this here is Mr. Blake and Associates. They want to talk to you about being sheriff on their patch of dirt.”

“Really?” Luke nods, and then looks over Wyatt, Sam and Wolf. He then looks a question at the sheriff.

“The flight crew for these men.” The sheriff offers helpfully. With those words, Luke seems to sum all of you up and passes you a brief nod of greeting.

“So what type of sheriff you looking for?” Luke asks bluntly, “I’m a fella who likes a challenge so if you are looking for a lazy no good wooden puppet to look pretty and mind the women; you’ve got the wrong man.” He says with a none too subtle glance at the Sheriff Arness.

“Oh no,” John replies, “Frisco, Regina is a mining town with a lot of lawless evil men. We need someone talented in keeping the peace.”

“Sounds mighty interesting.” Luke says while leaning his rifle against the wall and taking a seat with the gentlemen. “What you thinking on wages, because I’m not free?”

The men start to talk money and although a lawman, Luke seems to know his worth. Ken returns shortly after Luke appears but the sheriff whispers something to him and he is gone again in a hurry.

Day Three, Leaving Rocinante, Beylix spaceport, 11:00 am

James and Willow stroll down JW McClarrin Avenue. At first you pass smelting equipment and chemical storage tacks but the road gives way to a park in the centre of town labelled simply “The Green”. It is a pretty park, if small, with green grass and a few trees for shade. There are a few families having picnics with kids playing. Willow observes that all the main buildings of Newhouse face the Green. The park is an oddity here on Beylix, but it seems to be a reminder to people that there is life even in a junkyard town.

Willow’s trained eye notice the jailhouse and the hover mule parked outside. That would be where the boys are if she found herself in trouble. Emmett’s bar is only a few buildings away from the jail, on the south side of the Green. James smiles proudly at the stares he receives for having Willow on his arm as they approach the upscale (for Newhouse) tavern.

The bar is decorated in Mahogany board which gives it a dark look even in the mid-day. The place is clean and well cared for, the smell of wood oil and pine can be faintly detected in the air. The floor is carpeted in a burgundy wall to wall rung that has lain here so long than you can tell what seats are more popular by the wear patterns. Near the back is a stairs going upwards which seems to be the most beaten path here. The rug near the doorway has been scrubbed clean recently, for there is a brighter patch than the rest at the entrance.

It seemed much larger on the inside than it did on the outside, but that could be because there were so few people in here. There were twenty tables set up in the tavern but only three were occupied. One table had three men playing cards; they look up as you enters but don’t pay you much mind. By their work overalls, dirty complexions and the odd burn scar, you would guess they work in the smelting plant, either just off shift or about to go on. A second table is occupied by a Chinese man, asleep snoring loudly across the back booth. The third has a woman no longer in her prime, but still pretty in her own right. She is dressed up all frilly in a tacky and cheap way. She is surprised by your appearance but she rights herself and runs behind the bar to greet her customer.

“Hi y’all. Welcome to Emmett’s Wha’ca ya like?” she asks as she comes up to you. Her frilly dress is peach coloured, clasp held for easy removal and exposes a healthy amount of cleavage. You doubt she’s the owner. “First glass is on the house. Or were you just looking for a room because they’re all available?”

James approaches the bar while drawing out his wallet. He lays a pristine 20 credit note on the bar and asks quietly, “You can tell me where I might find a Benny Xiau. If you can, and this is yours.”

The credit note is snatched, folded, and disappearing into her Décolletage faster than James eye could follow, “Why Sugar, he’s the man sawing wood in the back booth. Anything else you’d like to pay for that I’d give you for free?”

“Ummm. No. Thank you.” James stammers and turns to head toward the booth. “Did you see how fast she took my money?” he mutters to Willow, “Really, some people.”

Willow watched with bemusement as the goodtime girl made the money disappear, and smiled to herself at James’ comment. “I know, James,” she responded smoothly,” I’d have waited to see how much money you had before answering.” When James gave her a startled look, clearly thrown off balance, she gave him another dazzling smile.

“Never mind, darling, I’m just playing. Say, is that who we’re here to see? How’s your Chinese, James? Less chance of a misunderstanding if you can speak plainly.”

James laughed as well, "Chinese? Surely he speaks english as all do."

OOC: This is just a short post to fill in the details of Crow's door examination. All of you would start to smell the scent described below after a few moments.

Crow examines the doorway for potential traps, cautiously leaning forward to look up at the jammed plate above the door. The doorframe was repaired recently, or at least more recently than the siege “security” system. Whoever did the repairs used a frame too thick for the plate to slide by, hence the jam. But there was a danger to this, because no doubt the plate was heavier than the wood. Sooner or later, the plate would tear through the frame and seal the doorway, unless they jammed it open with something stronger.

Smells came to the nose of the sylvari thief. He sniffed the air and smelt burnt bread, berries and wood smoke. Of course, this was the kitchen entrance and by the burning smell, something had been in the oven too long.

Peter, Derry and Noctus work towards Rachel to lead her away to the hole and the safety of the other side. The lady does not require bonds though as she is willing to be lead away without protest, happily singing a song about being our Guest. She is clearly mad, driven that way by spell or by the situation she found herself.

The two men who helped you dig the tunnel are there and they recognize Rachel. Seeing a familiar face seems to calm the Head Servant greatly, she becomes lucid enough to say to you “Please save our Princess. Her true love awaits but it is not her father that wishes to give away the bride.” After that she lapses into unconsciousness and speaks no more.

The party regroups and continues onward. The back doorway is blocked as firmly as the front so you work your way through the stone statues and abandoned party tables to the side doorway.

The doorway to the kitchen is not covered by a portcullis, in fact it is partially open. There is a slot above the door where the portcullis should have fallen, but the barrier seems to have jammed in its place. The doorway is a simple oak door, bound in iron with a latch on the inside to secure it. The reason the door remains open, is the latch is pulled across so it prevents the door from closing completely.

You have found a way into the building.

Maybe I don't have to re-jig the game. We didn't get far and I might be able to do a summary of events and have you move forward. Left Freegate, long trip, rain, attacked by uber powerful anime demons, All of you died - or worst. You awoke in cornfield, stepped back a few days in time somehow.

Now I need to tweak the beginning of the game again. Not sure we can continue where we last left off as there was reality bending going on.

Due to recent event in Olan's life, he has decided to leave the inn permanently. In order to keep this site going, I have purchased the domain for him and will continue on as webmaster from this point. I am not as up on web design as Olan, but I am sure that my high school BASIC and FORTRAN will see me through.

My first step will be to make this site as revenue neutral as possible, with the introduction of paid membership. Basic Membership will remain free of course, but features like chat and forum use will be regulated to paying customers. Karma will play a part in deciding fees for membership, those with high applauds will receive discounts, and those with high smites will be charged more. Further down the road, I foresee a "mature" section to the site for more adult oriented role playing and artistry - for a fee of course.

Member that do not contribute to the site will be banned after two months of inactivity.

So there you have it. I welcome any comments or questions as long as they are positive in nature, otherwise you will be banned.

Yours Truly,
The New Webmaster

Okay, so we have not seen the return of YeOlde. I thin kwe need to have an open discussion of what to do at this point. I don't want this game to die now that it has been revived so it has to move forward and I don't want to stall any more. So these are the options I see so far.

1) I can NPC the Professor until YeOlde returns. The other possibility is one of you could take the NPC job so I don't become a deciding voice in the party's actions.

2) I try to get someone to take the character over, either temp or perm. I have not had much luck in that before as people don't want to play other people's characters or I get someone who joins everything and anything then treats it like anime cosplay. Best bet would be to find a Mod or near-mod who can role play and doesn't mind steppin gaway if YO returns.

3) You could just leave Andrew in jail. Murder? Whoa. Sucks to be you dude but we got to go .....

4) We could play with the time/space continuum and have Mr. Bowman disappear or replace him with a new character in jail with a connection to you. (Yeah, I'm not fond of this one but it sometimes has to be done)

I want to have faith that YeOlde will return, but I have waited for others before that have not. So please sound off on this so I know what everyone is thinking.

Day Three, Newhouse Jail, Beylix, 11:00 am

The sheriff seems to relax a bit, even goes as far as putting down his shotgun to reach into the cabinet and bring out a bought of fine whiskey.

“What in the gorram hell’re you thinkin’, puhn yoh?!” Samgrumbled nervously, “Come a-stompin’ in a place rackin’ shells inta dog-humpin’ Betsy’s brother an’ gettin’ a fella all twitchy! Ni Ta Ma De! Tian Xia Suo You De Ren Dou Gai Si!”

“Oh. I am so sorry about that. Think of it as an occupational hazard of being a sheriff. I find that if you go in any situation expecting trouble, then chances are you can only be mildly disappointed when you don’t find any. Drink?”

“Pardon, Sheriff,” Sung interjected as he waved off any offer of drink and decided to wait upon meeting this Luke character before folding, or showing his cards. “This feller you have in your mighty fine hospitality…what’s he being duly processed over? If’n you don’t mind me askin’, that is.”

“Ah, yes. Mr. Bowman is in for murder. He claims self –defence and most of the evidence points that way but there is a slight problem of witnesses not seeing a gun in the other man’s hand and a complete lack of motivation for said man to be trying to kill Mr. Bowman. I take it you know each other? Did the Kessel run in less than 12 parses together or some thing like that I’d imagine.”

“Excuse me?” John Blake interrupted, “when might we meet Mr. pearson so we can proceed with our business arrangements?”

“Hmm?” the sheriff looked at the banker, “Oh yes. Ken, would you run out and rustle up Luke for these here gentleman?”

“Sure thing Sheriff.” Weaver replies, as he gets up and heads for the door.

Day Three, Outside Newhouse Jail, Beylix, 11:00 am

Wolf steps back as the door opens and the deputy almost barrels him down from running so fast. The lawman spares a polite nod to the mechanic before taking off down the street hollering “Luke! Luke! There some people to see you!”

Since the door is open and the inside is looking more casual like, Wolf enters the jailhouse, looking over to Wyatt for a cue as to whether everything is alright. The Captain has a air of tenseness around him, but Wolf can rightly remember when the Captain didn’t look tense.

Day Three, Leaving Rocinante, Beylix spaceport, 11:00 am

Are you doing something important? Oh, I bet it is! Do tell me, James, I find important men are oh so… ” Willow’s voice dropped to a throaty purr, “irresistible!”

“Very important,” James says secretively, “But I can’t tell you any detail or else B…, I mean I wouldn’t want to endanger you by telling you too much.”

As you walk away from the ship and head down the main street of Newhouse, Jimmy goes on to tell you that he is meeting a man at this Bar, who has some sort of key that Jimmy plans on buying from him. He seems to believe that this key will lead to great adventures and wealth for him but he is very vague as to the how’s and why’s.

As soon as you have taken a moment to recover your breath, the bugbears start to dissolve away just as the kobolds had before, leaving behind only greasy stains where the once ugly creatures laid. Crow is robbed of his chances to loot the bodies or fine some tell-tale symbols of their origins.

Peter recovers enough to push aside any aid offer and attends to Brandr’s wounds. Once he has cleaned the wound he applies himself to prayer and dras upon the power of his god to heal. Brandr’s wound close easily and he is filled with the healing magic that both soothes him and makes him a bit drowsy.

When Peter asks for assistance, Brandr aids him with the knowledge of wounds that a warrior gains over time. He helps the cleric clean the wounds and bind them, after which Peter applies the healing magic to himself.

Derry and Noctus work upon freeing the prisoner from her confines. She is a human lady, in her forties you would guess with fading blonde hair and an attractive face. Judging by her uniform, you would guess she is part of the serving staff, most likely someone in charge. You remember that the townsfolk had told you that the head of staff was named Rachel.

"Ahh, milady. Doest thou slumber in sweet repose alight with pleasant dreams or do vile creatures torment you and fill your mind with nightmares?" Noctus lightly brushed her cheek and looked for any response.

Her eyes flutter open and she looks around in wonder. Her blue eyes seem to be unfocused and she blinks a great deal before pulling herself into a sitting position.

(assuming some sort of reassuring statement)

Suddenly, she leaps from the table she was sitting at and starts to twirl around as if dancing. All the while she sings loudly “I’M A LITTLE TEAPOT, SHORT AND STOUT. HERE IS MY HANDLE, HERE IS MY SPOUT.”

She doesn’t seem to understand where she is or her surrounding as she bumps into tables and trips over objects in her view. Clearly she is a danger to herself and if you try to bring her with you, a danger to you as well.
