Peter isn't at death door, he is badly wounded. He can heal himself and then others or vis versa.

Had a bout of stomach problems this week past.

Since Dragonblood is over two weeks without a post, I have asked a ringer to come in and assume his character until he returnes or gets word to me. Vanadia, my lovely and talented wife, shall be playing Peter Elliot until such time. Some of you have gamed with Vanadia so you know she is a excellent role player who can assume any role quite well.

Crow, I will NPC until Tann returns from medical leave. If it becomes a burden I will look to another ringer if necessary but I can usually carry one player well without causing too much mischief.

Brandr dodged a blow aimed to take his head off and struck a back hand with his axe, deep into the bugbear’s leg. It roared with pain and bloodlust, guttural curses pouring from its mouth like water from a rain trough.

Ela moved and fired her bow. The first arrow shot wide but the second two embedded themselves in the back of the bugbear as it screamed. Remarkably, it still moved, hobbling on one good leg and bleeding profusely through its wounds.

Without a pause, the Ranger brushed aside the attack with his sword and then ended the creature’s life with a swift thrust through the side and up the torso. It fell to the ground and laid still finally, its cake encrusted face looking blindly to the sky.

The bugbear was intend on murder when suddenly the lights when out. Noctus moved across the field, to flank the creature and protect his fallen comrade while it struggled to remove the cloak from its head. When it did, it attacked at Noctus with a fierce chopping blow that would have disembowel the Swashbuckler had he been slower but as it was the Syl barely dance out of the way in time to strike with the rapier a glancing blow.

Crow saw his opportunity and seized it as the blinded bugbear turned its back on him. From the terrace he leapt into the air and hit the ground to tumble and spin into backstab attack. The two short swords plunged deep through unprotected areas under the arms and sides. The bugbear tried to throw him off but Crow held tight until the vitals of the creature were severed and he rode the beast to the ground.

The battle was over and all was calm again. It was time to attend to wounded team mates and see what the sleeping prisoner might have to tell you.

Party
Peter – Critical Wounds
Brandr – Serious Wounds
Derry – No damage
Ela- No damage
Noctus – Will have to wash his cloak

Day Three, Newhouse Jail, Beylix, 10:50 am

The deputy looked over at Wyatt and Sam talking to Andrew. “I’m sorry gentlemen, I thought you were together with them.” He says pointing the coffee pot towards the Frisco businessmen.

“They are with us.” Blake replied, following the end of the coffee pot with his cup.

“Well, they’re with us but they aren’t part of us.” Shem corrected

“I think that the arrangement and their willingness to assist in this endeavour is more than enough to show some solidarity in our businesses.” Blake retorted dismissively.

“Huh?” the deputy looked back and forth.

Cha-chung The door opens and the sound of a shotgun pump draws everyone’s attention to the man who walked into the room, a balding middle age man with a gold star on his chest. “What I would like to know is what your business is!” he says loudly and with an accent. “Excuse gentleman standing near the prisoners! May I ask you to please step back and disarm yourselves before approaching your captured acquaintance? He seems like a very well mannered man but I’d rather not dangle a carrot before him or anyone else awaiting due process.” The sheriff glares at the deputy who looks sheepishly towards his shoes before turning.

“Sorry folks. I should have said something but my attention was diverted. Just step back over here and put the guns on the counter if you want to speak to Mr Bowman.”

The sheriff looks over to the three businessmen, “So what’s your story?”

“They want to hire Luke to be their sheriff in their hometown” the Deputy calls over before anyone can answer.

He looks to the Deputy and then to the three, and back again. His face changes from its harsh glare to joy “Really! Well I can’t say that you’d find a better, more upstanding individual. Would you like coffee? Something harder perhaps after all, it is a bit of the celebration.”

Outside the jailhouse, Wolf decided to sit tight and wait. There was no reason to think there would be trouble, but if there was, being on the outside would prevent any nasty surprises. He moved closed to the doorway to better hear inside, looking around for people as he did.

Day Three, Rocinante, Beylix spaceport, 10:45 am

“James, darling,” Willow purred,” I almost gave up waiting for you. Where shall we go first? You look like you have somewhere to be, but perhaps you could take helpless little me to Emmet’s Bar, afterwards? I’m ever so thirsty for something that wasn’t distilled in the engine block.”

James was clearly startled by Willow’s words. His face showed the fear as clear as the sunlight. “How did you know…” He trailed off and cleared his throat. In the back of his mind he was having an internal conflict but he seemed to resolved it, “Why of course, my lovely lady. I understand completely now that we are no longer in the Black and your over protective band of brothers aren’t around anymore. As it just happens, I am going to that establishment myself for some personal business, and with you by my side, it can only go better for me. Shall we go then?” he says offering his arm.

Derry moves quickly from spell to spell while the others attack. He brings forth the energy ino a magic missile and fires it directly at the bugbear fighting Noctus. It grunts in pain as the magic sears his flesh and forces it to take a step back.

Crow’s thrown daggers bounce off the armour of the monsters without damage. He looks to find a back exposed or a weak spot but these beasts are cunning and well trained as warriors. However, one is not able to use that training so Crow moves to the terrace and dispatches the sleeping bugbear before it rises to do battle. He looks briefly at the prisoner, now snoring in the bag, and realizes it is a woman, or a man with thin ankles and wearing woman’s shoes.

Enraged by Noctus’ inability to stay still, the bugbear becomes wild in his attacks sweeping broadly at the Syl with his axe. Noctus moves like a whip, stabbing out at the creature and moving away in the nick of time. An overreach by the monster exposes himself to a deep thrust by Noctus, under the arm. The wound bleeds profusely and the bugbear screams in anguish.

Ela moves to the side, looking for an opening without risking an attack hitting one of her companions. Her first two arrows do not find a mark worth of her skill but when the bugbear screams in fury over the thrust of Noctus, she turns and fires. The arrow buries itself deep in the eye socket of the creature, making life too unbearable for the monster, as it collapses in a heap.

Brandr discards bow in time to meet the attack of the Bugbear with a quick parry and a roll to the side. He attacks back to draw blood with both sword and axe but not enough to fell the beast, although it does look worse off. It attacks with a backhand that catches Brandr’s chest, leaving a thin cut across that bleeds slowly – a step closer and he would have been cut in half.

Peter calls out a battle cry to his god and attacks with fervour, but he loses his footing while attacking and loses his sword in an attempt to right himself. The bugbear takes advantage of this moment of weakness and strikes the cleric hard and fast with the axe. The sound of the impact is like metal tearing and Peter is thrown back to the ground, a mess of blood and armour. He is moving still, trying to get up but slowly as the bugbear moves to finish the job.

OOC: Sorry about the delay this week. Serous weirdness at home and work. Next Move?

Bugbears
Noctus’ – dead
Brandr’s – Critical Wounds
Peter’s – Minor Wounds

Party
Peter – Critical Wounds
Brandr – Serious Wounds

Subject: Finally had some time

Nothing ever goes to plan….

It began as a short run to a comet mine, given to you by a friend who wanted to pay a debt. Now you were on Beylix, playing escort to three men looking to buy a sheriff. John Blake – the Banker who assets Sam saved by stopping a robbery. C.C. Fiddler – Frisco Hotel owner, and A.E. (Sherm) Sherman – a Merchant. They were there to find a man named Like Pearson who was likely to be wanting to be a sheriff. At least, Someone had suggested that – Brigit you think.

Brigit Trousdale – the School Teacher who seemed to always be in trouble, or around it. Yet somehow never the cause, or at least it seemed that way. She was engaged to JW but certainly wasn’t playing the faithful wife yet.

You had other passengers as well. Chad Sloat, the mining guild man was all prickly about the contents of his lock box and as soon as you could say depressurized, he was out like a shot and heading towards the Mining Guild Office. As for the other passenger, pretty boy James (Jimmy) Blake, son of the Banker – he was getting all gussied up when you left, like he flew all this way for a date.

Not that it meant a hill of beans to Captain Wyatt. They paid their fees and he was doing his job to get them here and back. But the plan to grab a sheriff, get back to the ship, fly by Regina and drop of the passengers and sheriff via the shuttle so that you could scoot back to the lullabelle mine and grab a shipment of ice – didn’t leave time for much dilly dally. The money was good though if you got it, with JW guaranteeing payment and good honest jobs were hard to beat.

Your PR man Asher Talhone had stayed behind on Regina to watch over the town and keep an eye on the shuttle when it landed. Asher was a good man with a gun, but hopefully he wouldn’t let himself get caught with his pants down.

Day Three, Newhouse Jail, Beylix, 10:46 am

John, CC, and Sherm entered the jail house that also served as the sheriff office. A young gentleman with a star on his shirt came forward to meet them.

“Excuse me?” John Blake spoke up, “We are looking for Deputy Luke Pearson?”

The deputy looked over the men in disbelief and then said, “Ahh, he’s not here right now. What’s your business with Luke?”

John cleared his throat, “We are looking for a sheriff for our town – Frisco…on Regina?”

“Oh.” The deputy says and then smiles broadly, “Oh! Well have a seat! He’ll be by soon enough and let me say that you couldn’t find a more…ah…dedicated lawman as a sheriff. You want coffee?”

Wyatt and Sam enter behind the gentleman and hear the tail end of conversation. The jailhouse is neat and clean, with only two men currently being held in the back. One of the stands up as you enter and at that moment, his eyes and Wyatt lock.

"Chou shen mao dai gu xiang," he said softly, and Wyatt recognizes a familiar face in the last place he expected it. Andrew Bowman?! What was he doing here and why was he in jail?

Day Three, Rocinante, Beylix spaceport, 10:40 am

Willow was in a bind. She had to get out to this Emmett’s bar and find this Benny Xiau who had the chess piece that the Tong’s Grandfather charged her with finding. But she wasn’t about to wander a smelting town unescorted. She wondered to herself for the umpteenth time if she should have told the Captain.

It was then that James Blake passed through the galley, dressed in a dark blue business suit that spoke of wealth and tailoring. His clothing spoke volumes to Willow as did his strut and smug look. Jimmy was off to do something he thought was very important and something secret as well. Although she couldn’t have said why, Willow intuition said “Brigit” to her.

This was an opportunity that Willow couldn’t let go by.

Day Three, Outside Newhouse Jail, Beylix, 10:47 am

Wolf parked the mule and checked his weapons. He moved across the roadway towards the jail when he spotted another man moving towards the jailhouse. He was a balding middle age man with two pistols, a gold star on his chest and a shotgun in hand. Not knowing why, Wolf decided to stop to tie his bootlace and let the man enter before him.

Hell after spoiling a bank robbery, anything was possible

The Who’s Who in Frisco

A brief run down of important people in Frisco that you have met so far. In brackets is a "visual aid" actor if you’d like to google – taking into account the age of the character. IE: Burt Lancaster in Field of Dreams, Meg Foster in Osterman Weekend, Keye Luke in Kung Fu...)

JW McClarin – Mine Owner, Senator and the de facto leader of the town. A good man, honest, straight dealing from all you’ve seen. (Powers Boothe)
Bailey Sacket – Engineer. JW’s right hand man in the mine. Keeps everything running and is the one JW trusts with the money. He has Bowden’s Malady but it is under control. (Joss Ackland)
Nora Blake – Bankers’s Wife. A hot looking momma who seems to have an opinion on everything. The driving force behind her husband’s career. (Meg Foster)
John Blake – Bank Owner. A short balding man with no ambition or drive beyond saying “Yes Dear.” (Timothy Spall)
Jimmy Blake – Self described ladies man. Son of the Banker who enjoys spending the money that his parents have made – he is pampered, prissy and those are his good points. (Pierce Brosnan)
Brigit Trousdale – Trouble in so many ways. A dutiful woman waiting on her man or a treasure seeker hussy with a dagger ready to plan firmly in your back? (Christina Hendricks)
Charles Caesar – Newspaper man. Looking for a good story to sell the papers. Truth is all in perception. (Jeffrey Jones)
C.C. Fiddler – Hotel owner. An Attendee of the Town Meeting (Bruce Campbell)
A.E. Sherman – Store owner. An Attendee of the Town Meeting (Alan Rickman)
Dennis Chow – Bartender. An Attendee of the Town Meeting and a supposed Tong member (Donald Li)
Chad Sloat – Miner’s Guild man. Wants to have an election to get Guild representation but seems to procrastinate about doing the deed. (Viggo Mortensen)
Major Montebank – Superintendent of the mine – controls all the security to mine. Ex-miltary sort, very proper, who likes to tell stories of the good old days. (Edward Woodward)
Doc MacGuire – Local doctor. Takes care of his people well. Still mourns the death of his wife and has a secret drinking problem that isn’t too much of a secret. (Burt Lancaster)
Albert Morgan – Bank Teller. Recovering from shock. (Wallace Shawn)
Lau Tsu – The Tong leader. A harden criminal or a man with a desire to serve his people? (Mark Alan Dacascos)
Grandfather – The Shepherd of the Tong church. A priest with a past of sorts and a shady mission for Miss Willow. (Keye Luke)
