Subject: A bit into the future

*This post is a bit in the future of current events.*

Stardate: 2368.04.10
USS Discovery, Bridge – 1500

Ensign Burrows looked at the ships sensors readings as he calibrated. Unexpectedly, they registered something odd. “Sir. I detect a ship coming out of warp. Bearing 3479 mark.”

Lt. Tzi looked up, “On screen. Check with Starbase and see if they expected a visitor.”

Burrows did as he was ordered, putting the view on the location of the disturbance and sending a message at the same time. “Starbase reports the Valmont is due in eight hours.”

As if the mention of the name was enough to conjure the vessel, the Vlamont appeared on screen as it came out of warp speed. A Norway class ship, the Valmont was a diplomatic ambassador vessel that was the centre of the Federations efforts to broker peace to the civil war of the Torkin Manes system. The ship was damaged - phaser and disruptor burns scorched the hull as a testimonial of how the peace process had a few challenges. Some large holes remained unpatched and held by force field.

“They are early then, “ Lt. Tzi commented outloud.

“Sir. They are hailing us. Captain Horatio wants to speak to our captain.”

“Very well. Patch the message through to the Captain in his ready room.”

Stardate: 2368.04.10
USS Discovery, captain’s ready room – 15:05

=^=Captain Blair. The USS Valmont has entered this sector of space and Captain Horatio wished to speak to you=^= Came the voice of Ensign burrows over the comm..

“Very Well. Patch him through to my console.”

The screen flickered and the image of an old friend appeared. Horatio was stilling in the dark, of course, but there was no mistaking his old academy roomie.

=^=Captain. Good to see you again.=^= Horatio said.
"Captain Horatio!" Blair answered in a warm tone. "What brings you to this neck of the woods?"

=^=Crew transfer. I understand you need a first officer. I got one here that has grown a bit too big for this ship. Needs a bigger boat to move around so he doesn’t bang his head. =^=

Captain Blair's eyes narrowed a bit as it began to dawn on him who Horatio was referring to. "Avanti? Are you serious? But... Horatio, may I ask why?"

=^=Noah, you did me a favour give me Avanti, and believe me when I say, the mission would never had succeeded without him abroad. But the Valmont is going into dry dock for awhile and someone will grab him – I’d rather it be you and return the favour.=^=

"I honestly don't know what to tell you," Blair responded. "There's not an officer in the entire fleet that I'd rather have as my XO." Noah shook his head slowly. "Thank you, Horatio. When should we expect him?"

=^=He is finishing up some business abroad, saying goodbyes and all. I’ll shuttle him over around 17:00. Enough time for you to make arrangements?=^=

"Of course, old friend. We'll have everything ready for him before then. Thank you again, Captain. If I can ever do anything for you, don't hesitate to ask."

"You already did Noah, you already did."

i wonder if it is because the MD strips are based on gags amd jokes where the LD is a continuous story? So a new person coming in would have to read backwards or otherwise think "this isn't funny - who cares"

Just a thought.

Good to see you again Vesper. The game seems to have stalled. Part of the reason behind this is Vanadia has pnemonia and is recovering slowly, while MMV is swamped with High school registration and homework.

But Tann is the only person who posted after mine. So I am not sure if this game is dead or am I not giving you people what you need to play. I know i owe Tann a map but really in the current situation all I need to know is are you ducking, freezing or drawing weapons.

So talk to me people. If you want me to fast forward to the heavily foreshadowed doomed conclusion of this bar scene, tell me. I prefer to play it out but my job is to keep the people satisfied.

Subject: Bob goes down for sleepy time

Stardate 2368.04.10 USS Discovery - Holodeck 3, 10:00

“Bobdude… get the mem mods in Sheila?” She asks with a smile.

“Affirm-a –reno Kennedydude. Sheila’s purring like a tribble in a silo full of tribble chow, extra chewy. Filed the trend reports for you to view, when you are through and you know its true.”

“Good good… catching the Z train after this right?”

“Catching the express, no mess because I’m feeling the stress, Kennedydude.”

“Good because if you weren’t I’d have to order you to.” She smiles again then watches as the last required officer walks in.

Bob watched to briefing with a bemused look until the visuals began to run. Then he took a great deal of interest in looking at his PADD. The violent imagery of the torpedos destroying the target brought back memories for him that he couldn’t deal with again.

“These warheads are fantastic weapons at long range, the longer the better.”

“Couldn’t agree more with the longer part, dude.” Bob said aloud. “Sorry I don’t have and visual wham bams to dam and blam your cortex people,” Bob said when it was his turn to speak, “The inner minds on these are your basic cunning S&D, with turbo boosted through their jim-jams on the S’s. They are hot stuff as the Ensign here has shown with more detail than my lunch could handle. But as with all the F-E-D brings to the table, they are lost when the wool is pulled, unless you wanted to try a tachyon feelie but we all know what happens when you do that, so I won’t waste your time dudes and dudettes.. Any co-mos?”

If anyone wishes to ask a question I will back post.

Stardate 2368.04.10 USS Discovery - Lt. Bob N’doog Quarters 10:30

Bob entered his room and stretched his arms wide as he yawn.s The bed in the room was cleanly made and looked like it never had been slept in. This was because Bob rarely slept in the bed - bed was for other things but sleep was for the chair.

To the side of the room was a large black recliner chair as long as Bob was tall. He’d rescue the chair a while ago from a old shipping trader and had modified it to his needs.

“Sheila! Need to come down – way down. Man that Ensign’s eye candy just about made my chimis –changa if you know what I mean. Mood lighting for sleepy time. Give me some tunes, light and relaxing”

A gentle orchestra piece began to play over the sound system, as the lights lowered to near darkness.

“Sweet!” He said and stretched out on the chair. “Sheila – lay in the magic.”

The chair began to vibrate gently.

“That the place, now it’s homeward bound. Shelia, wake me when ….” Bob never finished his statement as sleep overtook him.

*Beep* Acknowledged. Alarm set for one hour before shift change. *Beep*

Stardate: 2368.04.10 - USS Discovery, Main Engineering – 09:30

Bob finished the implementation of the last memory module and breathed a sigh of relief, “There you be Sheila. Better, smarter, faster, stronger.”

*Beep* “Diagnostic complete. Access time increased by 15.4 percent. Capacity by 45%”

“Sweet, Nighty Nighty then.”

Bob signaled to the waiting Ensign to take over his position.”treat her well Zev. She’s had a tough morning. I’m off to Z land for a bit.”

“Yes Sir.” replied the ensign, clearly not sure of what Bob just said to him.

=^=Lt. Bob N’Doog?” =^= came the voice of chirper Tanyi Mecall over his communicator.

Bob clicked the badge, “Your time, your dime on the chime, dude”

=^=There is a special briefing in Operation scheduled in a half hour. Commander Kennedy requested your presence. =^=

“Ops? What’s the Top?”

=^= I’m sorry Bob, I didn’t understand. =^=

“Topic. What’s we chatting about dudette?”

=^=Oh! The new Photon Torpedos=^=

“I don’t do violence.Tanyi.”

“I know Bob but the commander wants your input on the guidance computers.”

Bob briefly thought about passing due to the double he just pulled, but he was a team player. Sleep could wait a bit.

“Be there then. N’Doog out”

Bob changed his route in mid-step and headed towards the turbolift. As he approached, Jack MacTavish came around the corner towards the same lift.

“Whoa. Jackiedude! You must be heading my way because we can’t talk boomboxes without the chief trigger puller!” Bob raised his hand in the air as a greeting, “what it is, what it was and what it shall be my friend.”

Mac had been routed through Main Engineering thanks to having encountered one of a handful of still-out-of-service turbolifts on his way back from Aft Torpedo Support on Deck 35. Even though the Catullan’s shift had ended more than three hours ago, the TAC officer wasn’t surprised to run into Bob N’doog on his way through the cavernous ENG deck.

“G’marnin’, Lt,” Jack nodded unable not to smirk, his eyes flicked to the Engineer’s upraised hand hoping the lad wasn’t expecting what he referred to as a high-five, “I’m bound fer the briefin’ onna type sixes, if tha’s wha’ ye mean, lad, aye.”

He stepped into the lift when the hatch opened. “As tae wha’ et es, was, an’ shall be, boy-o,” he remarked, tipping his coffee cup as Lt N’doog joined him in the lift, “Et es a fargin’ miracle tha’ Fleet Command dinnae waffle any longer on deployin’ th’ Mk VI’s; et was a fair sight passed due fer ‘em tae ge’ off their duffs an’ equip us proper; an’ et shall be a bloody grand day when Discovery casts off an’ we put this station en our wake…

…Deck 11,” he said to the computer, his eyes turning back to regard the blue haired Catullan as the lift hatch whisked shut, “Pullin’ anoth’r double shift are ye, Bob?”

“Yeah, doing the mem-mod on Sheila and I prefer to be the dude behind the wheel for the whole trip if you catch my deal. Was going to catch some Z’s but the Kennedydude wants my brainwaves on your new toaster. Sure that you are grooving with the musing for these Marks, but I don’t do violence, cathartic or otherwise, dude.” Bob thought he saw some pain in the eyes of Jack and he wanted to help but new the burly man wouldn’t want him tripping through his closet, “So, any idea who our new X-man gonna be?” Bob asked.

Mac, of course, didn't necessarily agree with Bob's pacifistic inclinations but he certainly understood them and would never begrudge the man his beliefs. Ef et were no' fer lads o' both our ilk, he mused as Bob duded on, th' gal'xy'd be a barkin-mad place fer sure.

"Nae, lad," Mac rumbled in response to the query about whom the new XO might be, "I've no 'eard th' fairst peep.

"I'll nae mind ef I see ye pluggin' up yer ears a' th' war'ead briefin', Bob," the TAC officer nodded, "Jus' so long as ye tells me wha' I'm 'opin' tae 'ear aboot those guid'nce computers."

The Scot sipped at his coffee again as his eyes tracked to the small display that indicated which deck they were passing. A faint grin played on his lips as the cup returned to its 'at ease' position... "I'm no' gonna 'ave tae call the bloody thengs 'Sheila' er sommat, am I?"

“No! Did that once and the Captaindude was all whoa, and I was all like no way, and he was all whoa and reggies so I had to kill the pill in the drill. No thrill, let me tell you. You say Computer, I say Sheila – it’s all good under the hood as it should. No pulling of the ears though. I figure that you got to respect the ying with the yang, I like peace but don’t force it on anyone. I also like breathable air so I leave the fight to the right in the night cause they are outta sight – you dig?” as Bob finished the lift doors chimed and opened onto Deck 11.

"Aye, Lieutenant," Jack chuckled, shaking his head as he and the Engineer stepped out into the corridor, "I'm... hip."

Stardate: 2368.04.10
USS Discovery -HoloDeck 5 – 08:30

Lt. Steward Tier stood outside the building. He quickly checked his weapons under his long coat for the hundredth time. He had type 2 phasers on each hip, a type 3 on his back in easy pull harness, and a Cardassian Phase-disruptor on a strap under his arm.

“Computer! Start security sim 301. Set to level 10”

*Bleep*” Warning. Level ten exceeds the recommended parameters for your race and species”

“Yeah Yeah. Just set the gokk-bonking level to ten. Authorization Omega, 4, 2, Alpha, Tango, 1, 7”

The wind brushed Tiers hair and the people on the street began to move. Here Goes gokk bonking nothing

He picked up the black bag at his side and slowly entered the building through the revolving door. Before him was a security station with four armed guards, a security scanner with a conveyer belt for large objects and a gateway with a metal detector that had to be passed through to get to the lobby. Tier said nothing. He put the bag down on the conveyor belt and stepped through the detector.

*Ding. Ding.* the detector went off as he stepped through. One of the security guards stepped up to him and in a bored voice said, “Could you please remove any metallic items you may be carrying, keys, loose change...

Tier opened his trench coat to reveal the weapons underneath and let it drop to the floor.

“Holy shit! “ The guard exclaimed before Tier quickly struck him hard to the chest with enough force to send him to the ground. He grabbed both of his hand phasers and fired at the two guards on the right, and the one on the floor, killing them before they could draw their weapons.

The fourth guard moved to a place of cover and pulled out a communication device. “Backup! We need Backup”

Tier stepped forward and disintegrated the guard but it was too late. The sounds of footfalls were coming close and fast. The lobby was long and wide, with the elevator he need at the far end and 8 square columns before it, four on either side. Eight heavily armed guards moved in and took up defendable positions along side and behind the pillars for cover.

Four on the left, Four on the right. Come and get me you gokk bonkers.

“Freeze!” One of them yelled emphatically. Tier responded by opening fire with both weapons, taking out two guards immediately before they opened up on him. The assault rifles sprayed lead slugs into the area, smashing through the fake marble and concrete of the columns. Steward dove for cover, dropping his Type II’s as he did.

“Damn them to gokk bonking hell! Slug throwers! You got to be gokk bonking kidding me!” he yelled aloud as the rapid fire of the automatic weapons tore through his cover a bit at a time. He jerked the Cardassian weapon into his hand and flipped the power setting to max and the rate of fire to rapid,

He jumped to his feet and sprayed a salvo at the two remaining on the left to make them go for cover. Then he swung around the almost pulverized column and ran while firing. It seemed like slow motion to him, as he took out the closest guard with a barrage of rapid disruptor fire. He kept moving, shooting down the next guard as he moved out of cover to fire at him. The other two opened fire as well and Tier had to make a snap decision. If he dove for cover now, they remaining four could flak him easy and it would be game over. As he mulled his options for a split second, a shot from one of the guard struck his pulse rifle and tore it out of his hand. The Type III would take too long to get off his back so he made a desperate move. Throwing himself into a cartwheel across the floor he reach out to grab the automatic slugthrower the guard had dropped when killed. He grabbed it by the trigger guard and continued to cartwheel over. As he did, he opened up with the ancient weapon, taking out the two guards on the far side as he did in a spray of bullets and shell casings. Once more on his feet he back himself against a column and discarded the assault rifle with disgust, “Gokk bonking piece of gosa. No finesse, no accuracy and no gokk bonking worth.” He muttered as he quickly pulled the Type III off his back.

The remaining guards would try to outflank him by moving in on both sides. He had to do something unexpected to catch them off guard. Phaser rifle in hand he sprinted ti the closest wall and leap up, kicking out with his legs to spring off and change directions at the same time. He fired as he did, bring down the farthest guard but the other moved too quickly. Tier fell into a roll and came up right in front of the guard. A swift blow to the solar plexis stunned the man and then a round house to the side of the head knocked him down and out.

Tier sighed heavily, “Gokk Bonker!’ he muttered to no one in particular and walked toward the black bag he’d left at the front. He picked up the bag, his two hand phasers and the pulse rifle. The Cardassian weapon was known for its toughness and it proved to be true – the casing was broken but it still was operational. He prepared to move to the elevator, secretly thrilled that he had now made it further than he’d ever before at this level.

As he walked forward though, the holographic projectors suddenly shut down. He found himself in an empty holodeck and plunged into darkness. “What! No gokk boking way!” he screamed and punched his communicator badge furiously.

“Lt. N’doog” he commanded and then when it connected, “Bob! What in the name of gokk-bonking hell is going on here!”

=^= Careful with the ‘Tude, Dude. I’m not dealing the rude. =^=

Tier took a deep breath, “My holo sim just stopped in mid exercise!”

=^=That’s an affirmarino Dude. I’m mem-moding Shelia and had to back off the non essents. =^=

“Shelia? In life sciences?”

=^=No dude. Shelia. The Shelia. Stay on target dude. =^=

“Argh! When can I get my gokk bonking program back online?”

=^=Somewhere between a jiffy and a moment dude. Keep you rayguns ablazing. Got to fly, Shelia needs all eyes on her. Peace out =^=

*Beep* =^=Lt. Tier. Please report to Security station five. Code five=^= Came the voice of the communication officer. His down time had just been officially cancelled. As soon as it was said, his sim started back up, but from the beginning so he was standing outside the building again.

“Today is just not my gokk bonking day.” Tier muttered and then shouted out, “Computer! Exit!”
