Topic: Voyages of the Rocinante - Firefly RPG QnA Subject: The situation
Hello all.
I will be posting this weekend, sorry for all the delays. There is not a lot of action going on but you do need to make a plan, share information and work towards what you will do when the dragons come.
I have the next two adventures now setup for the crew with the next one being a series of short adventures based on a single theme. It should be interesting as they will be based on highly moral situations rather than gunplay.

Way I see it, we bring back Captain Jon, Stephanie (NPC), and I will see if my daughter wants to revive Grace. Vanadia had a character in a previous attempt who was a Gov't experiment that she really wanted to flesh out more. So we'd need a pilot and a gunfighter which I am sure we could find.

Remember, without a challenge or two, this would be a game about a bunch of sweaty guys and beautiful women floating through space with nuthin' to do.

Is anyone going to let John in on what has all happened? Might be a good idea to include him in the loop.
I hate to say "no" but the timeline you have and the timeline you need to get Rocinante to fly is the difference of hours to days. You have 4 hours, you need 4 days. Any attempt will be rolled on the Impossible difficulty.
You do have some advantages. John has a radio set at their frequency. They can't come in with guns blazing out of fear of damaging the violin. Asher does have an arsenal.
But you will be outmanned, outgunned and hunted by ruthless Mercs in 3-4 hours.

Topic: Voyages of the Rocinante - Firefly RPG QnA Subject: hurm
The new rule system is a bit of the old but a huge leap towards more of the "Fiasco" role playing system. Plot points are now a key feature and assets and complications change frequently and then disappear. It is more geared towards roleplaying to create a storyline than the current system. Not sure I like it, but I need to read the rules over again.
This is only a preview rule system so the core rulebooks might explain things better. But what I see could not be used for online gaming.
However, I can always convert the modules.

Yes there are rules. Now I have to see if it is worthwhile changing them all on you.

I should post by weekend as I know Vanadia wants to get her post done as well.
BTW - I just downloaded the new Firefly RPG rules. I will be reading them over the next couple of days.

My brother passed away suddenly on Tuesday and I have been dealing with the "arrangements" and the assorted other things that need to be dealt with for a loved one's passing. The memorial service is Monday and I should be back after that.

Topic: Voyages of the Rocinante - Firefly RPG QnA Subject: Too big
Ship length 378'-8". Ship width 204'-2". Ship height 92'-6".
Atmosphere Processor is wide enough (300 yards at the base) but the first floor is at 60' up, second at 70, third at 80' etc. So it is just too big in height.

Topic: Voyages of the Rocinante - Firefly RPG QnA Subject: Jessie's story
Teller is using skills and plot points to tell this conspiracy story and weave a tale. I will be rolling opposing rolls for all characters based on opposing skills and letting you know via PM how to react.

Topic: Voyages of the Rocinante - Firefly RPG QnA Subject: shuttles
Interesting
The Rocinante weighs about 2460 tons without shuttles.
Shuttle's cargo cap is 12 tons. Even pushing the parameters to double that, would not be enough. Even if you used the one drive pod, the flow would be too uneven.
However if you were to fix the core, and use the reactor to create the grav-dampner bubble around the Firefly, it might work. It could get it moved but there would be a high risk of structural damage to the shuttles and the Rocinante depending on where you lifted from and how.

Hold off on reacting to Jessie's post. There was a vital piece of information that the character had that I did not let Teller in on. I have sent her a PM so I think the post will change.

Topic: Voyages of the Rocinante - Firefly RPG QnA Subject: Electric ave
Mathewson is the man in the White tux and electric cane as Tann so quaintly put it. He has two bodyguards called Hack and Slash. You can presume those are aliases.
Havelock fought the war and was the last officer standing in serenity valley.
Other than that, no. You are dealing with upper class socialites with no skills beyond running fund raisers and gossiping about who is sleeping with whom. You could arm them am give the the fundamentals ( this is a knife. Pointy end goes in bad guy) but I wouldn't expect thrilling heroics.

Topic: Voyages of the Rocinante - Firefly RPG QnA Subject: wrong crowd
There is no one among the crowd that would be of use to you as a work crew. These are all high society people who have never done a hard days work in their life. Even the physicists are theoretical, never done anything with actual engines and if you let them at your engine they might try to "improve" it.
Captain Havelock could help you in a fight, and has seen battle and was at Serenity Valley. Just need to get him ship shape again. Other than that, Lord Hood has been the most helpful of the passengers but admits he has little skills besides talking and wearing a sash.
So this is the sitc. You have 72 helpless passengers, one Fiddle that is mucho valuable, a broken ship, two shuttles, a hovermule, a series of caves in the nearby hills and a Atmo Processor building that was never build for defense. You have another case that looks the exact same with an unknown content right now. You have two passengers effected by some sort of mind control sex device that you have no idea where it came from.on top of all that, coming after you is a group of mercenaries that make reavers look tame.
Your advantages? Willows Looks, Asher's shot, John's brains Wyatt's cool and Wolf's strength.

Dillon: Machine Pistol (two clips), sidearm, ballistic vest, 100 credits in cash. Nice leather jacket (black) which is very similar to the ones Federal Marshalls wear.
Guards (2): Assault rifle (two clips), sidearm, Tactical armour similar to military issue, both have taken direct hits, helmets (useless now). 50 credits each.
