For the sake of the dwindling player to NPC ratio, I am going to quietly play Catie out of the game. She will be there but more as a spectator then anything else.

I will have to assume some conversation for the next phase. As always, you may change the wording in your post if you feel it is not appropriate to your character.

Well, lightening may be a bad idea in a short corridor considering the bounce back possibilities.

Fire has worked against these creatures so you may want to try that but directed spells like burning hands. The is also Acid Arrow that may help.

You might want to consider blocking the other side of the corridor with something like a wall of stone, or force or Iron to prevent more of the ice-skeletons from attacking. They obviously can take some damage so wall of fire might not keep them out.

There is also the idea of casting protection spells on yourself or the party members.

Steele is not staying on the cruise liner, he is on his personal yacht which is docked just like yours. That is where he would have his gun collection and also he wants the yacht to make a quick getaway with his new bride for the honeymoon.

I will have to look over the module again to see where the Baron is staying. It has been awhile.

I will NPC Tann's characters for now.

Topic: Weird War II
Subject: easy fight

Four slow moving zombies are no match for six trained combat veterans and the team dispatch the creatures with a minimal effort and no risk to themselves. These undead were not the main threat of this outing and probably not even a minor minion. Their tracks are easy to follow and head from the very place you are intending to investigate.

There is no true high ground to seek in a desert but you manage to reach your destination without further incidents. The temple is easily spotted as a structure in the desert and there are four trucks with German markings parked outside (about 20 feet from stairs). The smell of gas is strong again but you don't see any zombies or Nazis in the area of the building.

In the midst of the vast desert sands, the last relic of a dead civilization stands before you. Surrounded by the broken foundations of a once mighty city, a temple looms out of the rubble like a sleeping dragon upon its hoard. It is the only existing building among all the fallen and broken ruins. Circular stairs lead up on either side to a platform in front of the temple's entrance. The temple's stone walls are worn by time and sand, yet still quite solid and sturdy. There are no windows in the temple walls and only one entrance, behind a platform, supported by pillars. The temple's roof is capped by one large and two small domes.

There has been a fight here recently, as there are bodies lying on the upper platform. These ones are not moving and among the smell of gas, there is also gunpowder and the all too familiar smell of death. For the distance though you cannot tell if the dead are Nazis or denizens of this play. However the doorway to the temple is wide open and light can be seen from within (assume you stop about 20-30 feet west from closest vehicle)

Nim - that is fine. I can NPC if necessary. I assume Lum will attempt to turn the ice creatures now.

I have posted. You are not fighting on two fronts anymore, thanks to your mage but you are definitely against some badass monsters. If any of you are familiar with this creature, keep in mind that no one in the party has ever seen them before.

Bwahahahahaha. Mine is an evil laugh.

Subject: First round

Maximus attacked the ice sheathed skeleton with Jal burning in his hands. The fiery blade cut into the cold undead melting the hard frost. The blade struck well both times but Hoth seemed to be stunted in its effect on the creature. Then the ice wight struck with unexpected power and strength. Maximus felt icy claws tear into his flesh through armour and wounding him in left arm and right side. But the cold of the wounds seemed to spread like a fire itself, draining his strength and life. To the others - it was as if the gladiator ignited with a black fire, dark as midnight that seemed to burn for within his body.

The other Ice Creature that was closest ran forward and leaped the ten foot pit with ease to attack Finarsil as she attempted to put up her fire shield. It attacked before the Bard could complete the incantation and she was mauled by its claws. As with Maximus, a black fire ignited within Finarsil and the coldness spread through her body.

Odyson called upon the spirit of his deity to turn the undead away before they could attack more of his friends. But as he tried, he felt the dark evil power of this place giving strength to the undead and cutting off his own ability to draw the magic. In the end, the shaman was unable to turn the ice skeletons away.

Kadrin attacked with his crossbow but the bolts seemed to barely scratch the ice of the monsters. He pulled out his horn in order to get some magic aid for his companions.

At the other end of the corridor, Sparrow used the power of her bow, created from the bones of the undead dragon Undeatha, to take down one zombie-ratman and then another. They were slower now and easier to hit but the power of her bow should have been more effective against them. It was as if in death they had become tougher than before.

Arien used the flames of Luin'naur and struck at the Ratmen. The sword did not fail him and he was able to kill two of them before they started to get try to surround him.

Lun called upon the power of her god to attempt to dispel this evil. She too finds that this place hampers her ability and adds strength to the evil but these are not strong enough undead to stand her wrath. 12 of the zombie-ratmen disintegrate before her holy power.

"Everybody into the tunnel! That is a lot of zombies to kill twice!" Jarenion calls out as he works his spell.

Arien calls, "Defensive formation!" he called. "They come on two fronts!" and moves back behind the spellcaster along with the others just as the wall of fire appears, cutting off the ratmen from the party.

But within the corridor, two companions burn with black fire, Two Ice-skeletons are in combat and three more are moving up to fight as well.

OOC:

Maximus: Seriously wounded and down two constitution points (15)
Finarsil: Seriously wounded and down two constitution points (11)

Note: Finarsil did not get the fire shield up but did not lose the spell as it is in her flute. If she wants to activate it, she can but that will mean no one can help her with healing or aid.

The open pits are a definite hazard in this corridor. It also limits how many ice skeletons can attack at once, but you are 8 people in a tight spot.

Dragon Keeper has taken the role of Dick in this game.

As Ody has suggested, we are looking for a pilot in the Destiny Firefly/Serenity based game. Either as Tess who is in the pilot chair now or as their own character. I have been without a "live" pilot for so long know that I would consider a major reality shift to put in a new pilot.

Let me know.

Day 1, Walking in Serenity Views, 7:00 PM PT

"You could say that, are you Doc Greene and Reverend Jim? Vivian mentioned you both by name. I'm Jade Storm, pleasure to meet you both." Jade said offering her hand to shake.

The Doc and Preacher exchanged a look that could be described as bemused. The preacher offeres his hand, "Yes I am Reverend Jim and this here is the Doc. I don't wish to sound impolite but what are you doing here?")

The Doc does not offer his hand at all but gives a smirk to Jade, "Oh I'll be impolite then. What business do you have here in the Heights Ms. Stormy? Pretty eyes and a nice sway ain't gonna get you much credit with me or the Reverend."

"To be honest, the reason why I am here is because I have heard that people have been going missing around here, and I wanted to see with my own eyes, what might be going on," Jade purposely tilted her head to look at the fences, before lightly commenting, "One would think if people were going missing, the priority would be to protect the group that are being targeted and not build a fence that hides said group."

"One would think that a complete stranger would want to mind her own business in other people affairs." Doc Greene remarked.

Jim rolled his eyes, "Somehow Doc, I don't think she is the enemy here. Excuse my friend here, his bark is only slightly worse than his bite."

Jade looked back at them before asking "I was hoping you would be able to help me get some answers as to why people are going missing and why there isn't more being done to help?"

"Whose gonna help?" Doc said with a sarcastic laugh, "Alllance don't care. Builders don't want these folk here! Morningstar? Bah! Don't get me started!"

Are you looking for someone Jade?" Did you come looking for a lost relative because although the Doc here is being very rude, "He shot the Doc a look, "He is right that the people here don't have many champions."

At the moment, the comm. of jade's belt activated, "Jade, listen here. We got company watchin' us with a very intentful eye that I don't imagine is keen on seein' if we're the type they want t' invite t' a local ball. I'm not keen on you runnin' off on yer own niether, so why don'tcha come on over to the noodle house and we'll talk 'bout what you were set on. Dohn la ma?"

(ASSUMING Jade will follow the Captain's orders)

"Would either of you know where this noodle house would be?" Jade asks.

Doc Greene shakes his head."Fancy end of town," he says pointing, "On the edge of the cliff so you can get a grand view of all the graves. Mei Long's Fine Dining for all the upper class and crusty Wangbada in the valley."

"Language Doc!" The Reverend said admonishingly. "Pleasure to have met you Jade. I hope you find the answers you are looking for ..."

The Preacher trails off as his eyes watch over Jade's shoulder. Turning around, Jade see six large men walking it the Heights, all dressed in the overalls and plaid shirts that denotes Trade Guild workers. The men duffel bags with them and they appear to be handing out sandwiches and bottles of drinks to the people here. Doc Greene pulls his shotgun off his back and says, "Looks like you are well named, cause you brought a Storm of trouble with you."

Jim gives the Doc another look, "that didn't even make sense Doc."

"Damn it Jim, I'm a doctor not a writer."

Day 1, Mei Long's Fine Dining, 7:00 PM PT

You reach the Noodle house called "Mei Long's Fine Dining" and see that it is a large restaurant that caters to the wealthier of Serenity View visitors. It is elaborately decorated with Chinese themes and proudly advertizes its five star rating. It has a large dining area as well as many private rooms for reservation. When you walk in, the smells of spices and noodles simmering fill your noses. The first area you enter is a place to for coat and gun check. The weapons check is an automated carousel that operated on a key card issued and a thumb print scan. Once checked, you move to the waiting area. It is very crowded with many groups waiting for their tables. You overhear one person being told that it will be a two hour wait without a reservation. But before Wyatt or Asher can decide to leave this lavish chaos of upper class, a lady approaches you and says with a broad smile, "Capt Wyatt Sung and Guests? Your table is ready. Right this way. Have you ever been to Mei Long's before?"

(assuming polite chitchat with server)

She leads you to a corridor which is where the private rooms are separated from the main dining room. She leads you to a doorway and opens it for you, gesturing and bowing politely so you may enter. Inside is a large round table, seating available for eight with only one person sitting there. It is a lady of oriental heritage dressed in a fancy Alliance uniform with a blue jacket draped over her shoulders. Behind are two female alliance guards standing at attention. They carry sidearms but they are in holsters and covered.

She stands as you enter and bows in a formal polite manner. "Good day. You must be Captain Wyat t Sung, Asher Talhone and of course, Willow Takahara. You bring great honour to myself by accepting my invitation so swiftly. I am Colonel Sally Wu, commander of the alliance outpost here on Serenity Views. "

(assuming a "invitation?")

"Yes. I sent you an invitation to join me tonight in honour of your fallen comrade and the exemplary work you did on LV-426. Many would have run, but you stood your ground for others. That is worthy of ..."

A blonde woman opened the door to the room slightly and put her head in to find the Colonel. She nodded to Sally and Sally nodded back. "Right. We are free to talk. Please sit and join me for dinner. We have much to discuss, starting with what your business is with Virgil Morningstar?"

Day 1, Rocinante, 7:00 PM PT

"Wolf here headed for the noodle house.....Ahhh where is it?"

Having yet to walk into the town proper the mechanic had no idea where it was, so the mechanic went back into Rocinante and found Ma. Between the two of them they looked up the noodle house on the cortex and the fastest directions for Wolf to get there. Ma decides to stay behind as expected, not much into the public eye and wanting to make sure someone was watching the ship. Noting the five star rating, Ma does insist that Wolf put on a clean shirt and pants before leaving.

As soon as Wolf leaves, Ma goes to the cockpit to grab here knitting. There she notices the communication monitor is flashing. Someone had left a message. She flipped it on to here an alliance colonel inviting Wyatt to the restaurant. Guess she found a way to send the message in person since that is where they were...

One of the curses that I have as a DM is involved story lines. So having players come in and go out really ruins my games.

The captain moved forward and called out, ‘"Hands in the air! If you comply, you will find us merciful."

The men did not raise their hands in the air but moved towards the captain at a slightly faster pace. Sarge, Rat and Doc backed up the Captain while McGuiness kept his sights on the creatures and Star watched for possible others.

As the four unmatched men approached, the smell of gasoline filled your nostrils. You realize the Egyptian men are not only covered in bullet wounds but their clothing is soaked in petrol. The Germans are not gas covered but their necks are ripped wide open from seeming bite marks.

As one of the German soldiers moved close enough to the Captain, he hit him hard with the butt of the rifle, twice with bone crushing solid hits. The soldier mode no move to dodge or defend himself and went down like a rag doll and laid still for a moment, but then moved once more to try to stand.

There was no doubt in your minds anymore - these things were not of the living world.
