For this adventure we are not worrying about material components unless it is a high ticket item (IE the gemstones for a resurrection spell). I do not want the spell casters made useless. Same with spell focuses or books. You will be able to cast spells and get them back.

Warlock has always struck me as a class made up by someone who does not play the game and has heard the rules third hand from another room.

Yes you wuold have 20 mana to use and yes you get it back after a short rest. However, you also blow 5 mana per spell as per the rules. 

From the rules: For example, when you are 5th level, you have two 3rd-level spell slots. To cast the 1st-level spell thunderwave, you must spend one of those slots, and you cast it as a 3rd-level spell.

so in mana terms, you have to blow the max level of mana per spell (Thank the patron for Eldritch Blast not costing slots or mana)

My better option: You have the 20 mana, you can cast at whatever spell level you want and use the apprioriate number of points per spell. But you get the mana back after ONE short rest only. After the short rest, you do not get any back until you have a long rest,

That is actually a very good idea. I did not think of you zeroing out the pressure in the shuttle.  

If you look at map, left side, bottom of map is the only airhatch.

Start with 75 points to spread across abilities.

Keep in mind you will have 3 ability score boasts to add in later (or Feats).

Oh....btw. Lucky is off the table as a feat. Just saying that now.

Everyone gathered gear and quickly went to the shuttle to prepare for the mission. There was only so much you could prepare for this type of mission. A dead vessel floating in the black with only a faint power signature? What could possible go wrong? A ship has backup systems and the bigger the ship, the more backups are usually there. I science vessel design for long range exploration would have multiple fail-safes.

Ivy remained behind to watch the ship and the shuttle departed. She watched nervously as you all prepared to go. She spoke privately to the captain for a time just before leaving, but whatever she said did not change the countenance of his face.

 An EVA suit was brought for everyone and multiple air canisters just in case. Alex brought the shuttle parallel to the Demeter, giving it a close once over before deciding how to proceed. Damage to the Demeter was minimal, in fact other than the communication array being completely destroyed, there was no sign of breach or harm to the hull to would have explained the current state. Any window where you might have gotten a glimpse inside was frosted up.

Alex managed to find a floor plan on the cortex for an Apollo class explorer. No telling what the modifications might have changed but it was a start. (see QnA thread)

Alaxis brought several body bags with her. It was a somber fact of life though, a dead ship could have floater in it. If you were to restore power and life support, no one wanted to see a dead frozen body start to thaw.

There was only access points you could use to gain entry into the ship. There was a single EVA port on the back of the main module, just above the long tube part of the ship.. The shuttle could do a belly to ship connection and you could try to override or manually open the port. The challenge with that would be that you could only enter the ship one at a time as the airlock on the shuttle is quite small. The other option was to do the Suited leap across to open the doors.

The way I do magic is based off the spell slot system, but converted to a point system that the magic user can draw from. a 1st lvel spell slot is one mana point, 2nd is 2, 3rd is 3 etc.

So if you have 4 1st, 3 2nd and 2 3rd slots that would be 6+6+6 so 18 mana points.

But wait, you also get to add your spell casting ability stat bonus. So as a Bard for example you use charisma and you have a +2 in Charisma - you add 2 points to your mana.

So with 20 mana, you can cast spells as you see fit. 20 first levels, 10 2nd, or combo. As you cast spells your mana goes down.

You still use the same spell level reach by character level as in the rules.

This is across the board for all spell casters. Clerics/Mages/Sorcerors/Warlocks etc.

Toolbelt - Yes I would assume there is a toolbelt with cables to clip to tools for EVA suits. Otherwise the Black would be filled with lost wrenches.You may proceed as if you have some at ready.

Characters must be fro the rule books Players Handbook. Sword Coast or Xanathar's. DNDnext classes are not allowed unless you really woo me with a backstory.

Hit points: Give yourself max. (I do the same for the monsters)

If you are looking for a character creator - fastcharacter.com is a good start for one class characters. Also there is a another one with tons of pre-gens Digital Dungeon Master 

But if you want to take the time to grow a character level by level, I welcome that. 

As well there is an excellent app for the phone called "Fifth Edition Character Sheet". There is a cost for it but if you like to have a character build level by level via the phone, it is worth the cost. I do not know how well it prints to pdf though.

I would like to try a 5^th edition D&D one shot adventure here at the inn. Do we have any 5^th edition players out there? If not, I am more than willing to guide you through it but this will be a higher level campaign based on a concept. It will run a set course and end, without a continuing saga. Please note that if you are familar with other editions of D&D, it will not be hard.

Your characters will be at 15^th level, or a total of 15 levels as per the multiclass rules. The characters are great heroes who accomplished great feats in your worlds (any world you wish) and will be remembered for all time.  But you died ….

Or so you thought. You remember thinking you were going to die but instead you woke up in a different place, with different people you never met before. You are in a cave, you are naked and standing in a chalk drawn magic circle.  A fire burns in a pit across the room and there is a young woman lying on the floor before you with a staff and dagger in hands. She is face down and not breathing (dead). Across the cave is an entranceway and sunlight beams in from beyond. On a pegboard nailed to the stone wall are four long brown robes hung up.

As players in this game you are to create your character and come up with their story, what they accomplished in their worlds and how they eventually died. You will start with no weapons, no magic items and no clothes. If you are playing a spell caster you will have access to spells, do not worry. The story is about the mystery of where you are, how you got here, why you were brought here and how to get home (if you really want to get home?).

Anyone interested? I would like to give first shot to people who are not currently playing in my Destiny campaign. Four characters that should fit into the categories of Warrior, Healer, Magic-user, Rogue. Opportunity to play will be based on the story you give me.

She hummed to herself before turning to the rest, "These ones have backup medical batteries.. there could be people in stasis. Good thing I'm comiing aboard then. You'll probably need me."

"Once we git over there, stick close t' me, Doc. Can't afford no trouble catchin' you sideways."

Jonah grimaced and turned to Wolf, "Well you look mighty fine in that slicker and the iron your packing but you heard the man...Bullet...we got things to do if'n you can keep your mind on business." Pops glanced at the young Doc as she looked out at the Demeter and smiled. "Them EV suits ain't gonna load themselves."

Captain had made his decision and the order were given. There was work to do and no one had any reason to hang around. EVA suits to prep and a shuttle to launch, not to mention what equipment to take in case you needed to repair or rig the Demeter to work.

Sung tracks down Ivy and when he makes sure that no one else is about, he dips his head and looks her in the eyes from beneath concerned brows, "You OK, Ivy-girl? You tuned int' that radio pretty hard."

Ivy looked up at the captain and smiled sadly, “yeah. No. I don’t know. It is like I am hearing a conversation caught on a recording that is years old. Stains. You spill something dark and it leaves a stain and no matter how long you wash it or soak it, the stain is there. Even bleach only hides the stain, but it is there. Can people become stains?” She stands up from the coach and looks at Wyatt with eyes sad from too my pain in too short a life, “I wish I was normal, Captain. I don’t means to be a burden.”

“I think I will go to the exercise room and do a workout. It usually makes me feel better and focuses my mind back to what’s real.” She said making quote marks with her hands when she says the word real, “Just a quick one, I’ll be ready when you need me.”

OOC: It will take about an hour to get the gear ready and everyone to move to the shuttle. Please be specific as to what you are taking over to the shuttle and remember the guns do not work in a vacuum, EVA suit gloves are not made to fit in a trigger and the Demeter has no life support.  Think of this as a dungeon adventure: you need light, you need magic (power, perhaps batteries) and you need tools.
