I will remind thiose new to the inn of a christmas parody we have on file
God Rest ye Merry Gaming Fans
But now that I look I see we are missing a lot of song that I wrote over the years. I will have to use this thread to re-introduce them.
The Same Lame Song
Sung to the tune of “Auld Lang Syne”
By Roger (Alacrity) Briant. Take a look at the actual lyrics someday, they are even more funny
Should all the lyrics be forgot,
And the words sung all wrong,
Should people sing when they are drunk,
The same lame song.
The same lame song my dear,
That same lame song,
We take a cup of bourbon please,
Sing same lame song.
And surely you’ll print the song’s words,
And surely my visions gone,
But we’ll take a cup of whiskey yet,
Sing same lame song.
The same lame song my dear,
That same lame song,
We take a cup of bourbon please,
Sing same lame song.
We think there something about a bra,
And pour them gowans flong,
But we wander from each blooming bar,
Sing same lame song.
The same lame song my dear,
That same lame song,
We take a cup of bourbon please,
Sing same lame song

Topic: Voyages of the Rocinante - Firefly RPG QnA Subject: Finally
Hectic time this year. But I have finally posted
And you are in a situation. If you haven;t read my post - do so now. Below is some details you need.
1) You have back up life support and heating. It is good for three days off batteries.
2) To fry both parts would have required a huge power surge and there was no warning sign of that - only a small flux periodically.
3) The Alternator is surge protected from within. The only way to fry it would be a surge outside the system
4) If you can patch the power to the communications, you are a day away from the mine so you can send a wave for help.

Topic: Voyages of Rocinante - Serenity/Firefly RPG Subject: Moving ahead
OOC: This will be my last post until after christmas. I'm off for the last week in dec so I hope to post then if everyone can manage a post before.
Enroute to Lullabelle Mine, Day Eight 9:30 am Ship Time
As Wyatt and Andrew sit together in the kitchen’s common room and have a serious conversation, the rest of the crew continues their routines.
Sam is in the cockpit, watching the instruments and making minor correction, but this far in the black, flying doesn’t require a whole lot of steering. He thinks about how it will be nice to hitch up with the Lullabelle and see Kora again. They were only a day out now, and soon Sam would send them a wave to let them know to break out the welcome wagon.
Ma is in the kitchen, checking her stock of supplies and cleaing up the nearly perfectly clean pantry. The ham hock was kept until the passengers were gone and now after the feast, she is simmering the bones for a stock. She found a supply of dried yellow split peas she stored away for good stock months ago – and this was calling to them.
Willow is in her medical bay, listening to soft music as she enjoys a cup of hot tea and reads an old but beloved book she treasures.
Wolf is in the engine room, trying to track down an odd power flux that seems to have cropped up out of nowhere. Barely noticeable to most, the power fluctuations started about a day ago and they appear to have no pattern. Having double and tripled checked all the power within the ship, Wolf is thinking that maybe he needs to suit up at the mine and walk the exterior.
“An' then I joined the Browncoats to keep 'em from stretching my neck and I created more widows, more orphans, an' put more young folk in the ground." Wyatt said sadly to Andrew.
“I’m sorry you had to relive that,” Andrew said, his pain and sympathy evident in his tone, “but I had to know what went on. And by my reckoning… you did what had to be done. I doubt those hell spawn had any relatives that would be missing the likes of them… and if they did.. they were probably better off. “
“As to the war,” he said with a shrug, “what you did there was what happens in all wars… it is unfortunate but whatever side your on … the result is the same.. death and mayhem... It is unavoidable. Nobody wants wars... well no sane people anyway.”
“But,” he continued with a faint smile, “I’m not one that should be preaching to you. The past is just that.. in the past.. it is what you do now that will decide who you are… and who you will become... I just hope I’m allowed to stick around and see that.. if you be havin me stay aboard that is?”
*Pop*
There was a brief pop sound, faint and almost felt more than heard. Then the power completely fails on the ship. Everyone is plunged into darkness. It is as dark as the Black for a moment or two and then emergency lighting snaps on.
Sam swears a blue streak as he grabs the controls – they are locked up solid. No response whatsoever from the navsat, steering or the engines.
Wolf swears loudly at the other end of the ship. The smell of something fried reaches his nose and he moves to the source of the smell as best he can before the emergency lights come on. He moves to the Trace Compression Block and opens up the cover. The Grav Dampener is smoking, and the Aft Alternator is charred and melted in places. Without those parts, there was no power and no steering.
Rocinante is adrift in the Black.

OOC: Sorry for how long it took to post this short entry. Life is hectic during the holidays. This will be my last post until after xmas but since I am off during the last week of december, I hope to post then, if everyone else can manage a post.
The last of the spider dies ingloriously under the blades of Char. The Ranger rolls with the spider as it crashes to the ground, coming to a stand before the beast in the hallway.
Kilgim attends to the fallen Adrian. Although he cannot neutralize the poisons effect, he uses his divine power to slow the spread. This allows Adrian to pull himself out of the venom’s effects and move his arms and legs again. Although his tongue is numb and feels thick, he can talk once more as well. Maximus helps the fallen mage get to his feet as he regains some of his lost strength.
Dapple puts away her dagger and moves back into the darkness of the hallway. She is at the ready, not convinced that those threads that took her down so easily are not coming again.
Flynn strums a few notes on his fiddle absent-minded. Impressed by the team work of the group, he realizes that the foes ahead of them may be quite formidable.
With the spiders dead, the question of direction to go comes to a head. To the north, is a round room, used probably as a mediation room by the priests. To the east, the main body of this temple and possibly more about this strange woman’s voice haunting the hallways.
OOC:
Arien: Lightly Wounded
Char: Lightly wounded,
Adrian: Lightly wounded (will be weak for 20 minutes and then poison effects will fade)

Here is a map of the temple you are in, so you don;t have to search around for it. Arrows on stairs show incline.

Way too long for me to post. Sorry about that.
Good time to start thinking of a plan to get to rauntenberg castle. You have a four seater car with SS marking now. I will post a list of what you find in the cabin but there are at least two SS uniforms (one full dress, one field) in a closet.

There were no back entrances to the cabin that Jack could spot. Nothing really to see behind the cabin, the Medic quickly made his way around to the front to report to the captain.
McGuiness stayed in his perch and watched through his scope, keeping an eye and ear open for any possible movement outside the cabin.
" Sind Sie Englisch oder Amerikaner? Amerikaner, glaube ich. Was tun Sie hier? Ich wünsche keine Mühe. "( Are you English or American? American, I believe. What are you doing here? I do not want any trouble) the young lady said to Romo as she laid the crossbow down to show her non-hostile intent.
Brutal did a quick recon of the cabin and came back to the common room quickly. “She appears to be alone,” he said then glanced at the body laying at his feet, “Now!”
The Captain moved closer to look at her. Not considering the language difference he says to her, ‘“Look lady, we don’t want any trouble... scratch that... we do want trouble, but just not with you. We need to find Castle Rautenberg. Do you know where it is?” He realizes the error and turns his head to ask room to translate but as he does, he notices within in her eyes understanding of what he is saying.

Pekka obviously missed the memo that said if the DM offers you a branch, take it!
No potion of Pepto Bismol in the pack. Luckily, I don't believe in the "save or die" scenario. Save or turn into invunerable were-spider-undead-creature is another story.

I don't mean that the space station is your home. I was thinking a place to where you could feel safe docked. In the episode "The Message", the Serenity crew had a place to pick up their mail. The appearance was of a depot where you could also get drinks as well - that is all I was thinking of - Rocinante is your home, not doubts there.

Topic: Voyages of the Rocinante - Firefly RPG QnA Subject: comm and chess
Willow could do either with the comm, I will have to check with vanadia on that.
The chess piece - The piece is basically similar to a USB drive embedded in a polymer chess piece. It is an electronic key for something that would require the code within the key as well as the key itself. Andrew could try to use his tech skills to find out the code and if there is anything of note on the data storage.
BTW - I am thinking of the future of this game and other adventures. Would like to establish a "home" base for Rocinante - a place where you'd have your mail and post, get messages and pick up jobs. I am working on a space station near an outer planet - The Zhongli Lingtu (Neutral Ground). It is an old alliance station that was abandoned after the war, picked up by a businessman named Mortimer (Morty) Black. he runs it for retail, real estate and docking fees (Think DS9 bought by Donald Trump). It would have a number of bars, places to stay, 12 atmo emclosed repair bays from small transports, 8 bays for mid-size, 4 bays for large. A parts shop called the Junkyard Dog. All walks of life for the dirt poor to the well off would pass through, though mostly the inbetween.
The idea I have is you are known to Morty and you have an arrangement where you dock for free in exchange for Willow providing medical services while she is there. They don't many doctors out that way. It is very hush-hush as Morty has a rep for being a shrewd operator with no concern for anyone but himself, but secretly he puts up a lot of people running from the law or who don't want to be found. Willow often finds herself helping sick families on the run, or wounded deserters.
Any thoughts?

Actually no. There will be no reavers in this campaign. I am planning out the next three though and realized I have to throw them at you sooner or later. As I said before, wandering monsters in serenity are
1. Reavers
2. Reavers
3. Reavers
4. More Reavers
5. Companions
6. Reaver-Companions

based on your character's history and the general feel you have for them...
How familiar with Reavers would you say your characters are? I'm thinking that maybe Wyatt has had experience but no one else.
What say you?
