Griffin - Captain of the Royale (a Dragonfly class ship.) Former independent that has so much bad luck that you'd think he's cursed
Dodger - A Boss out of Beaumonde. Known for his ability to ship things (smuggle) and not a dabbler in other criminal actions. Gets you jobs on occasion for a fee.
Sheriff Andrew Bowman - Sheriff of Frisco on the Planet Regina. Relative of Wyatt and a good man with a gun.
Kora Ling - Former crew (mechanic) that fell in love with Sam Hawkes, co-owner of the Lullabelle Mine on the Angel-Hair Comet
Tinkerbelle - A ghost on the cortex, this cyber hacker can get into and out of any system known in the verse. She sees and hears all but only helps out a choice few. No one has ever seen Tinkerbelle and some say she doesn't exist but then again, you have to believe in fairies, right?
Sheriff Weaver - Newhouse Beylix, the deputy became the sheriff.
Sheriff Buford T. Justice - Sheriff of Eisley Moss, A lawman more worried about what is right than what is the law.
Colonel Sanders, Lt. Hicks, Lt Vasques and Prv. Hudson - Federal Marshalls who are sitting pretty right now because of you, but as well if they had not shown up you might be dead by now.
Enemies
Adelei Niska (Asher) - A businessman who has a score to settle with Asher Talhone
Miko - A commander of the Mercenary army you assisted in taking out. She is the only one to make it out alive and not captured.
James Blake - The son of the Banker on Frisco, Regina. Felt that Willow betrayed him and all of the crew assisted in the death of his parents.
Bridget (?) - Ahh, Bridget, where to start ....
Commandant Herbert Ludlow of the 21st Grenadiers - Wyatt killed all three of his sons. Now they were actively trying to kill him at the time but blood is blood.

Burning hands - no. Too wide spread. Chill touch you could try but the damage would go to the victim as well. It would most likely kill the leeches though.

"I appreciate that, Colonel," Wyatt dips his head a bit to accentuate his gratitude. "Would there be any reason t' expect trouble of any kind once there? I wasn't expectin' authorization needed, or needin' t' talk at no one in particular other than a mortician maybe." Sung has not paid much mind to the Alliance doings concerning Wartime provincials, so he is completely unsure of what he should have been expecting.
Sanders shrugged, "I always expect trouble Captain; it is sorta of an occupational habit. Serenity valley is considered a historical landmark so no one is allowed to mess with it without authorization. As well, there is a lot of unexploded ordinance, landmines and munitions left behind and no one wants to take the responsibility of clearing it out. Now this Mr. Morningstar has maps and charts of the area and has been working to clear the dangers away but it is not a fast process as I am sure you can well understand. Don't be surprised if you have to wait a day or two to bury Captain Havelock.
"Now Serenity Views is going through a real boom lately - there's lots of construction and building. As I understand it, Mr Morningstar bought up a lot of the land surrounding the original town when the war ended. Now that there is development, he is sitting pretty off the land he bought so cheap.
"I don't like any town without a sheriff. Alliance military is fine but they really don't tend to understand the grey areas of the law and you end up with good people arrested or no one arrested at all if you catch my meaning. But I'm bias and I'll admit that. Commander there is Sally Wu, a real by the book type from a family with heavy ties to the military. Frankly, I don't know why she stays there with the political pull her family has but as I understand it, if she has a person or group in her sights, not much will stop her from getting them.
"You don't need any mortician, just deactivate the cryo-controls and he will thaw and ... well... pass like anyone else in the ground. Frankly, you may want to remove the cryo control unit completely, your Doc may have use for it later and we certainly don't."
OOC: Serenity Views is the city on top of the cliffs that edge Serenity Valley. It was created at the end of the war to temporarily house the wounded and the soldiers before they could be repatriated to their homes. The town went from temporary to permanent structures but was not that big - only a few hundred people after a year from the war. If you look it up on the cortex now it has a few thousand and is considered a tourist destination.

It is a good call as so many are hurt, and it frees up the other clerics to do what they need to do like help the most wounded or figure out how to de-leech someone. It is early in the game to be using up something you have only three times but I don't think anyone would say it is a waste.

Subject: Rule of one
you can only do one thing per combat round. So you can cast healing or use your rod. Not both. So you need decide what is better, healing or Rod whumping.
The Bard may call upon the power of mass healing. It would seem the most expedient means to an end.

for the record, the Mage did not just lose all his spells. Under my mana system you don't lose spells when unconscious. He will start losing mana however if he is out for more than 3 rounds but slowly.

Subject: Maintenance is done
Upgrades to the ship are always possible. There is armour you can add, but that adds to your maintenance costs. One point of Wound armor (damage resistant hull plating) weighs 5% of ship tonnage, takes up 1% of ship's tonnage as volume, and costs 10 credits per ton of weight. One point of Stun armor (electronic hardening, radiation shielding, etc.) takes up 1% of ship's tonnage (both mass and volume) and costs 1,000 credits per ton.
You could look at a hidden weapon system but that is extremely risky and if discovered by alliance will put you in a world of hurt.
You could look at some internal upgrades:
A Sonic Shower
3d Imager for the Infirmary (like in series but a smaller version)
A bio-lab for Infirmary (for analysing materials)
A Core dump drive - a large hard drive that backs up essential information from the cortex daily. If you lose the cortex, then you can use the dump drive. It only saves what you tell it to though (astrogation, latest news, etc.)
A portable fusion generator for power backup
A security system (cameras in the hallways and cargo bay, passcodes for doors, lockdown commands)
New equipment for the galley
Exercise equipment
Entertainment system non-cortex reliant
A bigger Hover mule

Three of the six tentacles are damaged and no longer attacking.
Three of the arms still moving but not attacking for now. However I will tell you the three are going to lengthen and head directly for the unconscious party members.
Arien fell in the rocky gully near the bridge on the side of the pathway you appeared upon.
Good News - Your healers are still up and one party member is basically immune to the poison of the leeches.
Bad news - Those with leeches will probably be bitten again and need to do something. Those who are down can't help themselves and probably need help badly or change their name to buffet.

Arien is damn tough but he had venomous leeches barfed upon him at extreme close range and armour ain't gonna help you in that situation unless it is a space suit.
What happened to "we will enjoy this because of the writing and the adventure"???
BTW - The dice roller on the website really does like to roll low.

I need to redo the maintenance stats on Rocinante but I know there was an Errata on the rules that stated the complexity was done wrong in the first set of books. I am looking for that errata.
It does not effect gameplay because you will not need to do serve for at least 6 months.

Subject: First Blood
The soothing melody of Finarsil's flute helped focus the parties' minds and made them move with a sense purpose and unity. Sparrow moved quickly, firing the arrow already notched in her bow at the tentacle that was reaching for Arien. The knight would attempt to save an elven hunter, everyone knew that and he needed all the help he could get. The first arrow bitten deep into the black appendage as did the next and the next. Sparrow grouped her shots hoping to do the most damage and was rewarded when her 4th arrow struck and the tentacle was severed. Black blood spewed from the opening in the flesh but as well, hundreds of the little leeches sprayed out.
Kadrin brought up his crossbow with the same intent as Sparrow, and using the distance of the crossbow range to attack as close to the base of the Tentacle. Both bolts hit and sank in deep to the flesh , causing the arm to spasm with pain and not reach out towards the Knight or Cleric.
Maximus threw his axes at the creatures and as the axes returned yto his hand threw them again. His efforts also met with success by causing the tentacle to writh and jerk around instead of attacking a comrade.
Jarenion cast his spell with as much speed as he could without messing up the spell completely. His web cast out between the pillars, the bridge and the ground just as the bodies were impacting. Two of them got through before the webbing was complete but another hit the webbing as was stuck.
Lun could not hope carry the hunters, she knew that her strength was not that of Arien or Maximus, but she was wise enough to know that she didn't need strength. Using the superior manoeuvrability of the winged boots she flew down and grasped the collars of two hunters , then with a spin and twist threw them upwards, hoping that the spell Jarenion was casting was something to stop them. She choice wisely as the two hunters she redirected hit the webbing of his spell and were stuck.
Arien moved without hesitation of thought, dropping his levitation and falling to quickly wrap his arms around a hurled hunter and then reactivate his boots. As he did, he saw the pale face of the hunter and the black leeches on the mouth, eyes and nose of the elf. Then suddenly, the leeches fell off and the elf opened his mouth to vomit a spew of dark blood and leeches upon Arien. Arien could not dodge the vile mass as it swarmed upon him and his body.
The elven hunters that hit the ground did not impact well. It was as if their bodies were bloated with gas or liquid and as they impacted, they more blew up than spattered. Either way, black blood and leeches erupted from the bodies and sprayed across Finarsil. Kadrin, Maximus, Odyson and Jarenion. The bite of the leeches is sharp but the venom they inject and contained within the blood is strong indeed. Pain racks through your bodies as Maximus and Jarenion fall unconscious. Kadrin, feels the light bites of the leeches but their venon seems to have no potency against him.
The hunters in the web also opens up their mouths and vomit out a gout of leeches and badness. The webbing holds them so that it does not affect the party.
Arien feels the bite of the leeches and fights to stay unconscious. The very being he had hoped to save was a trap itself. The knight holds onto consciousness until about ten feet away and then plummets to the ground.
Lun and Sparrow avoid the spray of the Hunters and remain healthy and vital.
