Topic: Freedom's Price - A Serenity RPG Subject: Mistaken Identity
OOC: Okay, since Brutal was ever really in the game, we will just move forward as if Phil was always in the party. You can read his background in the Q&A, but he is a basically a big uneducated farmboy who has had a stretch of bad luck in life. If you really need me to re-write the background I can.

Xi put in his earwig comm and spoke quietly, “Ready Steve?”
“Uh-huh.” Steve’s murmur came loud and clear.
“Andy?”
“Yeah.”
“Mick?”
“Ok”
“Alright, fellas, Let's go.” Xi adjusted his jacket and looked up and over to Billy at his side, “You stay here.”
“Why ain’t I going with you?”
“He expects me to be alone. You stand out in a crowd, and I’d prefer not to have anyone killed if I can help it.”
“I’ll watch the door then”
“You do that. Watch the door closely but don’t shoot the door or anyone coming out of the door, unless I tell you.”
“Right Boss.”
“Steve? Is he in there?”
“Yeppers Boss. Looking right at him. Got three women with him and some dumb looking bruiser of a kid.”
“Three Women? And another coming? Gorram it! How’s he do it?”
“Don’t know boss. One’s hot, one’s young and one looks like she’s tripping.”
“Right. No one moves without my say so. This has to go right or we don’t get paid.”
Hera, Gambler’s Gully, Inside the Ace in a Hole, 9:05 pm
Jeremiah Kane looked at his multiband and looked around the bar. He hated waiting and this felt wrong. Watson should had been here by now. Finishing his drink and for lack of anything to do, Kane got up and walked over to the bar, thinking about ordering another.
A man entered the bar, Asian by descent, short with brown hair and a scar on the left side of his face under the eye. He looked around briefly and then locked a stare directly at Kane. He moved towards him directly, but casually – certainly didn’t seem to be a danger of any sort. Watson was a medium set older man, Caucasian – so this wasn’t him. The short man stepped up to the bar beside Kane.
“I have the disk. Crane.” He says quietly but close enough to Kane’s ear so he can hear, “And you made the payment nice and prompt – I like that. Shows respect. I brought a viewer with me so you can check the merchandise. What’s with the new crew?” he asked jerking a thumb at the table where the others looked on, “I thought you were happy with the blonde?”
At the table, Phil asked out loud, “Who’s that guy? Is that Watson?”
Mel shook her head, “No. No idea who he is.”
“What does he want with Kane?” Grace asked.
“He has a disk. Wants Kane to look at it. Seems to believe we paid him for it.” Angela answered while staring at the two men.
“You can hear them?”
“No. His lips speak. He wants to know if Kane is happy with a blonde.” She replied absently.

Topic: Loaded Dice: Strip #6 Subject: Bladeslinger
The bladesinger is a concept that appears in a few fantasy games and novels. It is an elven warrior who has intergrated magic and fighting with a long sword into one perfect warrior type.

Topic: Loaded Dice: Strip #6 Subject: they steal - why keep them around
Knock is like Thief in a Can. And you get to stand back so the traps can't get you.
I remember a friend once played a thief after years and years of playing wizards. He found a chest and announced "I'm going to pick the lock and then check for traps".
Ooops.

You dont't always need a thief. A hammer and chisel or a fireball can do the work of a thief though not as quietly.

Topic: Loaded Dice: Strip #5 Subject: weather
I did a module a few times called "Out of the Rain" - tried it unsuccessful in the forums. The party starts out travelling from a completed adventure and they have been caught in bad rain storms for three days. They are cold, wet, hungry and when they find an abandoned mansion off their path - they go for it without asking too many questions.

Topic: Loaded Dice: Strip #5 Subject: idle banter
The tavern -the traditional place to start all adventures, which is why my tavern was always called "The Adventurer's Inn".
I have had some good campaigns that started differently. You wake up in prison with nothing but a loin cloth. You rouse yourself from your hangover to see a woman beside you saying "I do". There is much to be gained from the whole people meeting people part of the campaign. But not when you want a basic dungeon romp. Door, weapons, monsters, traps, more monsters, toss with adventurers and serve with noodles.

I should scan it or re-written them soon. 20+ years is a long time for 20# bond paper that is flipped through regularly.
There's my blog topic - a year of living critically! Al's attempt to re-write and redefine the critical table.

Topic: Loaded Dice: Strip #4 Subject: critical
I have a red binder of criticals that date back to the 80's. Based on rolemaster charts and includes some wonderfully gruesome descriptions.
Arrow through heart, opponent'ss body is thrown by force of blow 10' backwards to a spot suitable for dying.
Blow bisects the enemy at the waist. Opponent dies in two easy pieces.

Topic: Freedom's Price Q&A Subject: price list
If you go to www.fireflyrpg.com (I think - I can't access it at work as it is considered a "weapons" site) there are lists under "gear" for both weapons and regular stuff with prices. If someone would like to do so and email me the pdf's - I could look at them now.
Tann - I will have to check when I get home but I think your list is over the 100 credit limit.

Topic: Loaded Dice: Strip #4 Subject: hmmm
Interesting. Not sure I like the "narrator" explaining the joke to me though. Seems a bit heavy-handed.
I have handed out pre-done characters many times in my campaigns - in fact most of my players prefer it. Now I get a good idea of what they want first and tailor them to their desires. But generally I find players don't like rolling up characters , in my experience.
Also, when I create their characters, they live longer.

What I think is a moon clip wouldn't go into a python. Maybe I got the wrong idea though so what did you mean by a moon clip?
Great post by all - thank you. Just waiting on YeOlde and then we can get the party started. Please try to get your equipment lists in to me soon as the party is gonna start very fast.
