You people. First, I am getting flack from Olan "Sudden Death" and now the rest of you.

I can change the module to be filled with teddy bears if you'd like!

Sheesh! Try to create a challenge, and what do I get for thanks. You should see some of the stuff I threw at Gallirian, Vanadia and Rune! You want Giants! I'll bring in giants if you want! The Evil Storm Giant Ninjas! With hellhound assassin/mages as pets that shoot killer bess from their eyes!

Everyone is still breathing, no party member has turn evil and wiped out half the party...yet.

This ain't no party! This ain't no disco! There ain't no role playing on Fuzzy Earth.

Subject: To rush or not to rush

Thoughts here. I can rush through the next section and have you guy settle up the wounded, get the ice, and be on your way to Regina for the greater part of this journey.

Or I can work through it slowly, allowing you to chat with the Fultons, work out the loading of ice, etc etc etc

The benefit of rushing is that I get Tann into the game faster, write out Kora and move on. Those of you wounded will be up and about sooner in real time.

Going slower might mean you can ask important questions, get some answers and so forth. But the wounded will have a few periods of no need to post.

Speak out, up or over

Nice finishing touches Olan.

Now I have a request. Can you develop a tool to search for keywords within a single thread. Some games go into many pages and if I want to find out what a character did a few months ago, it gets annoying scrolling through pages.

Aother function would be a "print" thread function that produces a thread (from start to finish) in an easy to read/easy to print format.

Another option would be to add a field for a short form of a thread title so that the user could control what pops up for their thread.

That way I could have CWWLLO as the short form for Continuing Where We Last Left Off.

(A bit of liberty with kilgim. I rolled a perception to see if he'd figure out what to use on the tree sap)

Kilgim watched with fear as the green goo on Maximus seemed to be growing, as if spreading to pour itself into the orifices and wounds of Maximus. He had to react fast and Kilgim knew in an instant what he had to do. No time for spells, the dwarf took his handkeg from his pack and poured the dwarven ale onto the gladiator. The green goo immediately shrinks back and begins to dissolve. The choking threat now over, Kilgikm began his prayer asking his god for healing power.

Char attacks with the burning torch, striking hard and into the face of the green monster. After a part strike to the face, the creature seems to falter, then collapses to the ground.

Valentine drives his glassteel blade deep into the open wound of his opponent and it staggers back, also falling to the ground almost exactly at the same time as the other one.

Dapple calls out to the blue in an attempt to distract him, but the focus of the warrior is unbroken. He moves in to strike at Arien, who blocks the sword with his shield. Dapple moves in and hits the blue with a solid strike to his side. The imperial rolls with the blow and comes up again, ready once again to focus on Arien.

“Sir Thedell! Your Sword!” a slurred voice calls and Jal managed to toss the sword towards Arien. The movement is too much for the still drugged mage and he falls to the floor, but not before the blade goes end over end towards the knight.

Arien grabs for the sword with a mailed glove and does not hesitate. His finger close around the hilt and he spins to strike, just as the Blue was moving in for the kill. The blade cuts a deep gash across his belly and up his side. Dumbly the imperial guard staggers back, to be kicked once again by Dapple. No longer able to use his fancy moves and overlong sword, Arien dispatched him with a thrust through the neck.

The burning creatures are merely smoldering now, whatever fueled the flames has burned away. There are sounds above you of soldiers moving in haste, and way above, the sound of wood and stone being shattered.

Valentine is seriously wounded.
Dapple’s wounds are minor
Maximus is seriously wounded and smells like strong beer
Arien is seriously wounded

Rocinante’s Infirmary

Kora and Hawkes followed behind Willow as they made their way into the ship. Sure enough, Trish was waiting for them with Bessy in hand and a small kitten on her shoulder – holding on with all four claws. Seeing the damage to the crew members and the miners, she immediately moved out of the way. If he saw Trish’s disfigurements, Hawkes kept any reaction to himself.

Once Sam and Kora had Jim settled, Willow turned to Sam Hawkes, warm eyes glowing in her serious face. “You head back now, dear, and let me do what I need to. Jim’s in good hands, but I need space to work. Kora’s got enough training to give me a hand, and the boys here need to sit down before they fall down.”

Sam nodded his head and turned to leave. He looked at Kora who smiled back at him and they shared a special look that Willow had learned to recognize long ago. She suddenly got a feeling that Kora might not long with the crew, but maybe she had found a home.

Once Sam has left, Willow washes her hands, winds her hair in a business-like knot and starts her examination of Jim’s wounds. Even though the man is deeply unconscious, Willow strokes his arm, brushes his hair, and makes a thousand other little gestures as she assesses all his injuries. “Tell Willow where it hurts, darling one,” she murmurs as she starts the long process of cleaning, sewing and binding. Out of the corner of her eye she sees Sam get up and start to head for the door of the infirmary.

“Where do you think you are going?” She asks in a tone that sounds pleasant and threatening at the same time.

(assuming some comment about helping the captain)

“And how is bleeding on the prisoners going to help the Captain, hmm ?” Willow asks looking back at the monitor that show Jim’s vitals. Her voice remained sweetness and honey “I swear to you - you walk out that door to get a gun and a bottle of ill-gotten whiskey, and I will never use anesthetic to remove bullets in you again.”

(assuming some “but …”)

“Ever! And if you die of your injuries while you're running around playing hero, Mr. Samuel Dash, don't come crying to me."

Outside

“Strip to yer skivvies, the lot o’ you. I want t’ make sure none o’ you are packin’ no heat. Then step to an’ bring yourselves right up to the porch here.” More quietly, Sung said out of the corner of his mouth, “Kora, keep an eye on them, I’m going out t’ meet ‘em.”

Sam Hawkes voice responds, “Kora is helping Miss Willow. For pity sakes Captain Wyatt, can’t we leave them their dignity? It is so little to ask yet sometimes it is all that separates us from them.”

(Assuming some discussion. Hawkes offers to search the other crew’ while Wyatt covers him.)

Wyatt didn’t sheathe iron, but kept his Colt in hand as he made his way to the front door and onto the porch where he could watch their approach. “Now,” the captain said with ice in his tone and danger in his eyes. “I want to know everything you know’d ‘bout this Ludlow. Be quick ‘bout it.” His wound was smarting and the smell of the fight was still in the air. The combination of which was enough to make him a Wei Shian Dohn Woo should they decide to do something foolish.

Though the crying and grieving, you get somewhat of the story. The Fultons were on Regina and in a bad way. They were hadn’t had a good streak of luck in awhile and things were tense. They had come to Regina for a job to find it had been jumped by another crew. They were low on fuel, provisions and had little money left when Ludlow came and offered them 1000 platinum to take him to the Lullabelle mine and back. He said they would pick up another passenger named Hawkes and they would get another 1000 platinum when they landed back on Regina. Once they were underway, he started to come up with stories of being a bounty hunter and that Hawkes was a dangerous criminal. Penny and Kenny became enamoured with Ludlow, and he exploited the two of them. He started to get edgy as they got closer. When Rocinante showed up, he got hostile and threatening, acting like everyone was out to get him.

Penny remembers that Ludlow referred to the person who was gonna pay him for the bounty was a she, but he never mentioned a name.

Jim will recover, but he will be on bedrest for awhile. Asher and Sam need some recovery/healing time but can move about again.

I finally got out to see Transformers the other day. Great movie! The effects were awesome. It was a bit more violent than I expected for a movie based on a line of toys.

I am waiting for Veronica to return from camp to see the Harry Potter film. I expected this to be a hard film for the director to make because Order of the Phoenix was a badly written and poorly edited book, so much so that Veronica and I stopped reading HP books from then on. GIGO

This weekend is Hairspray and I now pronounce you Chuck and Dave, neither of which I am interested.

“I assume the Sah Gwa that’s now lookin’ to fertilize our host’s ‘maters was the Lurn Shwei Jah Jwohn that ran yer operation,” Wyatt’s voice was cold and held nothing but death in it. “Seein’ how the lot o’ ya tossed aside as soon as he ate dust, that is. It also didn’t pass by me that the li’l miss seemed right bent on killin’ him had I not had the honor, so I’ll wager that yer none to pleased with the killin’ o’ Kenny.

“See? This is where I’m supposed t’ start givin’ a damn ‘bout ya all bein’ human and such, but I’m gonna need some pretty sweet talkin’ t’ keep me from puttin’ the lot o’ you into my airlock and pressing go. I don’t take kindly t’ no one treatin’ such perfectly amicable hosts as we’ve had with such straightforward rudeness as I seen here an’ I sure as hell don’t take kindly t’ people shootin’ up what’s mine. So one o’ you better speak up and say your piece quick while the rest o’ you hold mighty still.”

The oldest of the group looks up from staring at the remains of Kenny’s body. ‘Sir, we ain’t lookin’ to fight you and we weren’t lookin’ from the beginning. Mr. Ludlow hired us to bring him here and back to Regina. Told us he was picking up a someone named Hawkes and we’d be heading back and we’d get paid. Said some woman wanted to see him. He was hard demanding man with a devil of an influence on poor Kenny. I should have done something then, and I pays the price. It was only when we arrived that things got nasty and fast. Suddenly he was after a criminal and there was a bounty and he had a ton of guns and buddha knows what. We just want to collect our brother and get going. If you be really needin’ to kill someone, then you can kill me for my sorrows but let Penny and Denny here go.”

”We’s ain’t going anywheres Lenny.” The balding one said glumly, “Them there gizmos and dodas are fried in the ship. We stuck tight like a tick on a dog.”

Lenny sighed and shook his head, “Well ain’t that the half of it.” As if a wave washes over the older brother, he shudders and tries hard to hold back tears. “Please have mercy sir. I was just looking to keep my family fed and now …”

Although Asher and Sam are wounded, they are able to get themselves moving. Kora helps Sam up to find that although winded, his wounds are superficial so he came get around on his own. Sam goes over the closet to find an emergency foldup stretcher that him and Kora can use to move Jim to the Ship’s medical bay. All the while, Sam Hawkes fusses over Jim, ‘you don’t die on me. I ain’t working this claim without you boy and I ain’t cleaning up your mess.”

“You can save him, Can’t you Miss Willow?” he asks quietly as they prepare to move him.

Okay, this is the part where we get down to brass tacks.

I have been informed that Lyskhala is leaving us as she has too much going on wih real life. That brings my NPC list t0 three out of five (Only Bromern and Vanadia still in).

Now I know that Blamm is away and plans to come back. Roberts tells me he is going to be back but has not returned as of yet. My PC list grows thin.

I do not want to end this game as I am enjoying it. But I can't run the entire crew. I can NPC Kora and make her a engine room mechanic, but running Dash, Kora, Asher and Trish is a bit tough.

Thoughts? I need some input here.

Arien took the success of his first attacks as a sign and moved in to press his advantage. Then he is struck hard on the side, a crushing blow that would have cut him in twain had it not been for his armour. As it is, the force of the blow sends him reeling sideways, in the direction of the sleeping Jal. The attack did not come from the green-hued men, but out of nowhere – a nowhere that slowly changes into the shape of an imperial guard wielding a two handed sword, wearing the tell tale jacket of a blue guard – bodyguards of the rich and dangerous. Blue guards are trained with one weapon from a young age and watching this one attack is nothing short of amazing. He moves like a dancer, leaping high in the air, yet changing direction in mid leap to attack Arien again. He parries the blow and rolls to feet, hoping to get his footing and attack back. Another high leap from the Blue, and a sudden twist, and Arien’s sword is knocked out of his hand and skitters away. The Blue Guard laughs and mutters in heavily accented imperial, “Knight falls”.

Maximus moves in to fight the creatures, hoping to help out Arien. The first blow cuts deep and wide, and the gladiator follows up with a backhand that would kill an ordinary man. Tree sap sprays out of the wounds onto Maximus, Char and Valentine. The smell is harsh and Maximus finds himself unable to breath, choking on the fumes of the green sap. Fighting for breath, he is stuck by his opponent and the blow from the sword tears through the flesh and bone of his right arm and shoulder, sending Maximus spiraling downwards to the floor.

Char moves in with a torch, when Valentine passes a lit lantern to him. Wasting no time, he hits the man-thing with the lantern, sending burning oil down its chest and arms. The fire is definitely damaging his flesh, but still the man comes as if he doesn’t feel the flames. However, whether it is the oil or a twist of fate, when he attacks Char with a mighty swing, the sword slips out of his hand and flies overhead, clattering as it bounces off the roof and then on to the floor.

Dapple stands ready with more torches as Valentine produces the lantern. The thief doesn’t want to engage these things as she can see how strong they are and doubts her attacks will have any effect. The torches and fire seem to have the desired effects though. But that blue Guard….

Kilgim looks to his fallen comrade and makes a decision. Maximus is hurt badly and needs healing.

OOC:
Valentine is seriously wounded.
Dapple’s wounds are minor
Maximus is critically wounded, and choking
Arien is seriously wounded and unarmed

One green guy is on fire and taking damage
One green guy is badly injured (you think) and leaking fluids

Kora pop off a few rounds with her Falcon at the man but missed him as he ran low and towards the door. He returned fire, sending a deadly burst at kora, or rather the place Kora had been standing before her instincts took over to make her jump to the side and downwards again. The assassin was shooting from the hip and on the move, which made him shoot high and missed Kora.

As the big man got close to the house, Wyatt appeared in the window and Ernest moved his gun towards the Captain. It wasn’t Sam Hawkes, so Ernest wasn’t worried about mowing down this man with the cold eyes and murder on his face.

Then he took a hit, to the shoulder that spun him slightly. The shot that took him wasn’t from the house, it was from the hatchway where he’d come out, fired by a red haired women who looked very much like the boy killed as a distraction.

Distractions were a deadly thing in combat. Ernest allowed himself to look at Penny with amazement. Wyatt firsts round hit him solidly in the upper chest, where his plate vest ended and was thinnest. The next round took him in the throat, and the last bore a perfect round hole between his eyes and sent his brains scrambling out the back of his head.

Ernest Ludlow’s body followed its last action to the end, finger locking on the trigger and arm rising, but his legs gave out before then and the automatic fire of the weapon just dug up dirt as he collapsed. The girl came running up, tears in her eyes screaming incomprehensively in Chinese as she stopped over the former bounty hunter and fired bullet after bullet into the dead man’s body. Once empty, she dropped her rifle and fell to her knees, wailing for the death of Kenny. The fire retardant system had put an end to the fire, and the holographic skies began to disperse the dark clouds and allow the artificial sun to shine again.

The fight seemed over, but then the hatchway opened again and two men came out. Both were obviously members of the same red-haired family/clan, one with a full head of red and the other balding with thin long red coming down the back and sides. Neither men are armed. They hold up their hands where they could be seen as they slowly approached the scene of the misfortune.

OOC: For Willow – Jim is critically injured and will need help first. Sam and Asher are serious, but can wait and Wyatt is superficially wounded.

Wyatt – extraordinary success on two out of three shots. Kora got a good roll on the “get out of Harm’s Way” reaction
